30 Days of Apple Cider Vinegar vs 15 years of GERD/Reflux

  • I have been on one form or another of acid reflux medication for roughly 15 years. As part of my keto health transformation, nothing would make me happier than to get off of all medications and be free of the chronic ailments that have been plaguing me for years.
Some of my viewers suggested that I might be able to cure my acid reflux / GERD by consuming apple cider vinegar. I decided I'd give it a try for 30 days.
    Here's the tonic recipe:
    2 quarts water
    2/3 cup ACV with mother
    1/3 cup lemon juice
    1/3 tsp Himalayan pink salt
    1/3 tsp powdered ginger
    2/3 tsp ground cinnamon
A few squirts of liquid stevia
Yield is 5-6 servings poured over ice and consumed through a straw to limit contact with teeth enamel.
Prior to trying this treatment, I would encourage you to try the "burp test" I describe in the one year follow-up video (linked below), as that will be a pretty good indicator as to whether this will work for you. It's been 3 years since I started consuming ACV and 3 years I have been reflux free. I currently only drink it once per week, before bedtime. I just put 2 TB in a small glass of warm water and chug it down like a shot. Good luck!

I had switched from Omeprazole to Pantoprazole a number of years ago. After being keto for a while, I reduced from 40mg/day to 20mg/day. When I started the ACV at the beginning of this 30 day experiment, I stopped Pantoprazole completely. Your results may be different than mine and you should consult your physician before quitting any medication.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
    1) How can this work when ACV and lemon juice are acidic? The problem is that (based on what I've read) as much as 80% of people who suffer from GERD/reflux actually have LOW stomach acid. Because of this the lower esophageal sphincter at the top of the stomach does not get the signal to close, thereby allowing acid up into the esophagus. The acid in the ACV triggers the lower esophageal sphincter to close.
    2) How do I know if I have low stomach acid? Mix 1/4 tsp of baking soda with a small glass of water. Drink it and see how long it takes you to burp. If more than 5 minutes (or not at all), you have low stomach acid.
    3) Why does it burn my throat when I drink it? Probably because your esophagus has been made raw by stomach acid. I found that after about a week, it didn't burn nearly as much for me.
    4) Does this work for silent reflux? I had a lot of symptoms of silent reflux and it worked for me. I can't guarantee it will work for you, but the burp test I describe in question #2 should be a good indicator.
    5) What if I have a hiatal hernia? I can't advise you on that. I had mine repaired a number of years ago when I had surgery to fix an inguinal hernia.
    6) Can I just take ACV capsules? Maybe. They didn't work for me. Neither did betaine HCL. But perhaps I wasn't taking enough to equal the amount of acidity in liquid apple cider vinegar.
    7) Should I keep taking my reflux meds? I did not. My logic is that they would be fighting the very thing I'm trying to accomplish with the ACV.
    8) Do I need to make the tonic or can I just drink the ACV in water? You can drink it in water. ACV is the primary ingredient. The other ingredients have health benefits, but most make this tonic more palatable.
    9) Will I have to drink this for the rest of my life or just 30 days? It's been over 3 years since I've been on reflux meds or had symptoms. I found that I was able to gradually dial back my consumption to the point where I just mix 2TB of ACV with a small glass of water and chug it down before bedtime once or twice per week.

March 16 2021 this video absolutely changed my life.
I had acid reflux my entire life. When I was 16 I had my esophagus looked at and was told that I had the beginning stages of barrettes esophagus and would need to be on antacids for the rest of my life. Fast forward 15 years and many failed attempts to get off of the antacids; I ended up on omeprozole for a few years and started having major symptoms.
I was now 30 years old and felt like a 80 year old. My life was miserable and I truly believed that this was how the rest of my life would be, or worse.
I prayed to God to lead me to the answer that would fix this and that I was willing to do whatever it took. I found this video that same day and went on a health journey that lead to me going from 200lbs and absolutely crazy amounts of pain and inflammation (from my diet) and of course life long acid reflux to 130-140lbs, getting rid of my inflammation, and no longer taking any acid reflux medication period.
I am so thankful that God lead me to this video and that I found it again to come back and just say thank you!

Hi from turkey, if you have low stomach asid, you will be sick and sense reflux, so vinegar make your stomach asit level 1-3 ph, so your stomach works good, in addition you can use betain HCL+pepsin for 1-2 month, after that you may reduce HCL and put some vinegar instead of HCL, finally you may continue with vinegar after that , if your stomach asit is good , 1-3 ph, your spinchter will close, spincter is door of stomach and osaphagus , thank you and sorry to my English 😅

I am so glad I found this video. I have had silent reflux for about 5 years. I looked into Apple Cider Vinegar when it first happened and my doctor (who was a naturopath) warned me that AC Vinegar could make it worse so I was scared to really try it. But I fired that doctor and I started using ACV and it has immediately made me feel better, but I have still been nervous about it. After watching your video, I am no longer scared but I am excited to use it every day.

I'm getting a lot of comments telling me that it was KETO, not ACV, that cured my reflux. I can tell you that keto helped and it allowed me to reduce my daily dose of Pantoprazole from 40mg/day down to 20mg/day -- but if I went more than 2-3 days without meds, the reflux returned. That's after being on keto for a year. Since starting drinking ACV tonic twice a day, I haven't had an issue since day #4. I am quite convinced that increasing the acid in my system via this tonic is what has freed me from reflux and the associated meds.

    • @bigmort6916
      @bigmort6916 4 ปีที่แล้ว +95

Serious Keto it is the ACV curing your acid reflux. I know this because I researched and did the same thing! What people don’t realise is acids reflux is cause by LACK OF ACID in the stomach to break down a big meal, and as it coats the meal trying to break it down it then comes back up the oesophagus . Adding ACV to your stomach before a meal acts the same way as stomach acid and is therefore able to break down the meal without the struggle 🤷🏼‍♀️👍🏻stomach acid naturally depletes as we age it’s unavoidable some more and some less than others. Doctors are too quick to give you a pill for everything and the pills for acid reflux are dangerous. But they won’t tell you this either! What the pills do is STOP your stomach acid function completely. You are effectively now a giant rotting garbage pile because the food is slowly rotting inside instead of how it should break down 🤷🏼‍♀️. This in turn causes skin issues , dizzy spells , heart problems, liver issues the list is massive I could go on and on ! Get the ACV it works and it’s safer I was on omeprazole for 18 years, not realising at any time this medication could of killed me 👍🏻

I'm 57 and have had acid reflux since my teens - my lifelong friend has been Tums & Rolaids. I finally was prescribed Omeprazole 4 years ago - which worked well, but not when I ate chilies at night! LSS, I went off of that cold turkey 6 weeks ago, cause I hated being on medicine. Needless to say, my reflux returned with a vengeance, so I basically had to stop eating by 4 pm to get any sleep at all. This was doable, but clearly wasn't a long term solution. Then I saw this video. Wow! Today I'm on day 14 of ACV tonic taking and am simply amazed - no reflux and I'm sleeping like a baby. It's nothing short of an answer to prayer - a miracle! Your anger resonated with me. I am a nurse who works in GI. It really frustrates me to see patients come in so sick, and all they get are pills to put down their throats, which I would not put in my mouth. Knowing that there are other ways to fix these things is so hard. I will often tell patients that it's a good idea to really do Research into their conditions to make sure they're happy with the way their treatment is going. I hope they do and figure out alternatives.
    I am happy you did!

28 days in i must say... this is AMAZING! my road was a little bumpier than yours, (probably bc i have LPR, not acid GERD) having some days where i felt reflux-y but now i'm almost perfectly fine. i there are some foods that still make me regurgitate a little bit but i've gotten so much better. i can eat cheese, onions, tomatoes, ham... i haven't tried any other trigger foods but i had those in moderation and nothing wrong. also, i feel good again. that constant full-im going to throw up horrible feeling is gone and i can move however i want without feeling i'm going to throw up or getting acid on my nose. thank you so much... you truly saved me thousands on those sad medications and made me happy again :)

Wowwwww I’m been struggling with acid reflux/GERD since the age of 15. I’m now 27 and currently taking pantoprazole 40mg AND Famotidine 40 mg before bed. I find myself in pain 70% percent of the time and literally getting anxiety before eating a meal because I don’t know if it’s gonna digest or leave me in excruciating pain. I’m on day three of trying this method with just 8 ounces of water twice a day and already I feel better than I have in MONTHS. I haven’t even touched any of my medication and have been able to eat freely. Very frustrating that after YEARS of doctors appointments something so natural and easy turned into a solution. Guess it’s not doctors jobs to hip you to natural remedies, I mean how else will they get paid if we don’t buy up all these pills right? Very happy I found this video.

I had a chronic cough along with frequent sore throats and excess saliva, but no pain in the chest. Finally diagnosed after six years of suffering with sore throats and congestion with sinusitis. That finally cleared up after I'd seen several doctors, BUT I still had the cough and excess saliva at night. I started taking ACV capsules and felt relief within half an hour. I also tried a teaspoon in a small glass of water which helped some. I like your tonic solution because you can adjust the dose. Yes, it works. Turned out I had both sinusitis and gerd at the same time. I had asked doctors about ACV and they'd say but there are no studies that prove this. Right, because it's not a pharmaceutical! I think we should write to our congresspeople about government funding for studies of nutritional remedies. I've done much research on this out of necessity and it kills me to pay doctors just to write a prescription when I can't tolerate the side effects of any drug. The older you get, the less you can tolerate side effects. Seniors are getting inadequate healthcare and still paying for it. Write your congressperson or the Surgeon General.

I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux too and prescribed Nexium and Tecta. I like to read literature or contraindications. One time I read the one on Nexium and I couldn't believe the serious adverse side effects written there. One of the doctors I worked with prescribed a PPI and told me to take it for 6 months. Good thing I read an article online that says you shouldn't take it for that long. So obviously, these doctors don’t know what they're doing!!! Thanks for sharing your experience with ACV. Doctors will never look at nutrition as a cause or cure because there’s no money in it for them. Watching my mom go through 2 years of a sinus infection, pill after pill, surgery and 3 doctors later we decided to replace the rug in her bedroom and it all went away. Doctors don’t look at environmental aspects either. But all this made me turn to holistic ways to treat everything.

    I can’t thank you enough !!!

My metal health was ruined 😭 I used to cry myself to sleep and wonder why is it happening to me !! You saved me ! You saved me !! I’ll always be thankful and grateful ❤️
And I hope this comment give hope to people who are going through this !!

The doctor did a Restech study on me and my acid reflux was off the chart. He gave me the same medication you were taking. I taken the medication for 1 week and said I am not taking this anymore because I'm not a medication type of person, and two it just didn't feel right. I decided to do some research and get rid of this acid reflux naturally. I figure this issue is based on what I am eating and the time of day I'm eating it, so I switched my diet, started doing some research and come across your video about apple cider. Like you, I will take the apple cider for 30 days and throw away the meds, no good for human consumption at all. It's like I'm paying these doctors to break my body down to get worse. Medication have so much side effects to it, they don't tell you that part but they prescribe medicine. Eating naturally, drinking vegetable juicers came to be my routine and I feel so much better and energetic.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
    1) How can this work when ACV and lemon juice are acidic? The problem is that (based on what I've read) as much as 80% of people who suffer from GERD/reflux actually have LOW stomach acid. Because of this, the lower esophageal sphincter at the top of the stomach does not get the signal to close, thereby allowing acid up into the esophagus.
It did for me.
    5) What if I have a hiatal hernia? I can't advise you on that. I had mine repaired a number of years ago when I had laparoscopic surgery to fix an inguinal hernia.
    6) Can I just take ACV capsules? Maybe. They didn't work for me. Neither did betaine HCL. It's possible my dose wasn't high enough. Taking the capsules may be right for you if you need some time to let your esophagus heal enough that the ACV doesn't burn going down.
It's been a year since I've been on reflux meds or had symptoms. I found that I was able to gradually dial back my consumption to the point where I just mix 2TB of ACV with a small glass of water and chug it down before bedtime once per week.

Every body reacts differently to many things the body is a mystery, Doctors can tell you one thing that something is good for you, But your body will let you know for sure, My Doctor said drink apple cider vinegar which I did, this was to help controll high blood pressure, a month later I got Acid reflux bad, my chest hurt and my left arm, It continued for about two and a half months, I went to specialist and he said after I explained what was going on, said I don't think you have acid reflux, I told him also that I had been drinking A C V, told me to stop drinking it which I did, but told me to see a heart doctor which I also did, the results ( Nagitive ) my heart was sound no problems, that same week my acid reflux went away. Apple cider vinegar my help some, but as I said every person's body is different.

So I've been drinking ACV for over a week now (went cold turkey off meds) and I feel like I'm cured already. No more globus sensation in the throat (or mostly gone). I can't believe it only took a week and a few spoons of ACV to help me cure my reflux. My problem, like 80% of people, was low acid instead of the opposite. I will continue drinking ACV, and I wish you the best that life has to offer for helping people like me.

Thank you. I'm doing the same thing now. I had been taking medications for 20 years. Soon every, over the counter meds, stopped working. GERD got worse. Then almost 5 years ago; I decided to go cold turkey from the meds and search for natural alternatives. One night while eating blueberries, my heartburn disappeared and I felt great. After eating breakfast of either eating oatmeal or fried eggs; the heartburn returned, and I started over again. This has been going on for nearly 5 years now. About a couple months ago, I decided to have an endoscopy done. I was prescribed that exact same medication that this guy was prescribed. Long-term side affects of it are not an option.
I will try this tonic beginning tonight and continue for 30 days. I too, am angry at myself for not eating my vegetables when I should have. People are lucky to have good gut health.

  • @markothesharko

Your tonic is healing leaky gut, which takes a couple years to fully heal, so keep doing it Bro! I'm at about 9 months of ACV, and not only do I not have reflux EVER (Mine was milder, usually treated with tums), but as PART of my leaky gut healing regimen, my psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis are going away. Healing leaky gut allows you to absorb nutrients that would otherwise just go through your system.

So I started trying this tonic and noticed my symptoms increased which is strange because ACV helps my reflux, but I found out for me it’s the lemon juice! Now I’m taking just the other ingredients as a tonic and it’s been helping! So if you’re having the same issue maybe try and drop the lemon juice or cinnamon as these can cause reflux in some people and try again. Don’t give up on the ACV!

Can I also suggest looking at videos on YT on ACV & Olive Oil, put the two together and according to these videos you should live to 100 minimum 😂

@@vanillaice7576 I make it by the 2-1/2 gallon fridge container. Distilled water, add 2 cups ACV, 1 cup lemon juice, several table spoons of electrolytes mixed in and a teaspoon of trace minerals, and liquid Stevia... Pour over ice, add a little mint-flavored chlorophyll (NOW brand). You'll thank me later. 😎. When you do this, it's even easier to maintain. Streamlined nutrition! This really cleanses internally, energizes, and cuts the appetite! Plus it is minty-lemony-apply delicious!!🌿🍋🌿 🍏🌿🍎🌿🍋

@@SeriousKeto thank you. I’ve been doing it everyday since I watched this video. It seems to be getting better. But I still have some irritation in my throat daily. Will that go away in time?
Also, I know you said in another video you had reflux since around the time you got married 25 years ago. Were you ever diagnosed with Barrett’s esophagus?

I know this video is one from 3+ years ago. Still, I have been on pantoprazole for a long time (7 years) after omeprazole for ages, so after listening to you, I decided to give ACV a try. I also had a hiatal hernia repair, but then my surgeon found I had a second hiatal hernia (leave it to me to be a weirdo). I will try the ACV to prevent a second surgery, which I honestly fear.
You keep on being my hero! Show me the way, Pathfinder Steve!😊

@lamsytuan1 Yes, I did. I mixed 1 tablespoon with my favorite morning drink (that took a bit of doing, but tastes change, and I came around). That's it!
I have not given up my pantoprazole yet, but it is down to 1/4 of my previous dosage, so that is a definite win.
Bonus: ACV reduced the swelling in my ankles, something even the doctors were unable to achieve. Now I have "sexy" ankles...if such a thing could be said...
Continuing on. One day, I may be done with pantoprazole, maybe not, but I am SO happy to be taking less and less of it!

@@lronlance6366 I am still on a quarter dose of pantoprazole because the 2nd hiatal hernia acts up periodically (and I do not want another repair job). The ACV and I are at peace; that is, we are living together in harmony. And, my doctor didn't want to go to the quarter dose to begin with - I kinda bullied her into it with a promise of an increase if I had problems.
So, other than ACV being my friend, I am stalled out, but feeling GREAT!!

I’ve had reflux for years. Never had heart burn but I had the cough like you. I was put on prilosec and I took it for a year. I had the same symptoms as you and I was told it was part of my job and my weight. A couple of years ago I came home from a Disney World vacation with an upper respiratory infection and I lost my voice. Months later I still did not get my voice back even though I had gotten over the infection. I went to an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor and was told I had plaque on my vocal chords causing the laryngitis. After being on numerous medications I did a little research and found that acid reflux could cause the plaque on the vocal chords. I told my doctor this after I found out and he put me on prilosec. Lo and behold within a week I had my voice back but I kept taking the med for 1 month and stopped again because I knew taking it for a prolonged amount of time causes problems. I started the apple cider tonic and never looked back. So happy that you found this and that you stopped taking those meds.

Thank you so very much for sharing this. I am experiencing the same issues and was just about to schedule and Endoscopy upper GI to see what is going on and why this heartburn only gets worse. I already made this Apple Cider Vinegar while watching this video and am so excited to try. I have been trying other natural supplements and enzymes to heal my body. I definitely agree with more natural alternatives to medicine and doctors do not know everything, so we have to be our own doctor and find what balances our bodies.
