Hi,Steave.I was on Pantropazole on and off for years . Last summmer I've had severe acid reflux attack, unable to breath, lost my voice for two weeks and went to hospital, emergecy room, four times in the month of June, also lost 38 lb. ENT doctors did not help me . Watching your videos and taking ACV twice a day, now six moths later,I am of my medication, and relief from GERD and feel GREAT. THANK YOU.

Hey! I've been suffering from GERD all my life. I am willing to learn more about how you introduced this in your routine, what were the reaction and ilk. It could help me heal, emulating from your journey, if you are fine with it. Could we speak on some other platform, extensively on this?

I met a boy aged 12 that had been suffering with GERD for a few years. He had been scoped down his throat twice, went through 3 different medications and a couple different doctors with no resolution. His mother had spent about 25 thousand American dollars total for all the medical bills. I studied his diet of what he ate and drank. I discovered he was a soccer athlete, and never drank water, but a lot of red Gatoraid or a red fruit punch drink. After several experiments it was conclusuve that the artificial color Red 40 in both drinks was the cause and perpetuator of his GERD.

I'm a health professional. Was having GERD symptoms with laryngeal spasms at night. It was frightening to suddenly lose my ability to breathe for 30 seconds at a time. My personal MD prescribed Pantoprazole which made things so bad that I was forced to abandon it after 20 days. I have only used the apple cinder vinegar tonic on a half dozen occasions and this had "fixed" my issues completely. I've had no GERD related issues in the past year. Thank you.

Thanks for your story as it answered why I sometimes wake up feeling like I can’t take in a complete breath…which began with my acid reflux again while taking prednisone for the first 5 days of my chemo cycles. I skipped the Pepcid they suggested and am back on my acv/lemon water 1-2 times a day during the Prednisone days, once a day thereafter. I find the liquid works better than the capsules I’d switched to recently and will keep those for times when reflux isn’t so severe.

I was diagnosed with severe acid reflux... and nearly 3 months I can't even eat, drink well.so the doctor prescribed me different kinds of counter medication but those medicine didn't ease anything to my acid reflux....,besides I also heard that Acv can heal acid reflux completely but I didn't try acv coz I had gastric too, so Continuely I suffer more than a year... and after that i decided to give up all those medication..and started to pray to God everyday for his mercy.. And now By his wonderful mercy I am feeling much better ... I'm thankful and grateful to my Lord Jesus Christ for His wonderful love ❤!

I tried ACV everytime I had reflux it was a slow process, but now I can eat and sleep well. Maybe I'm not fully recovered yet, but I'm 90% cured. So try it.

Hey, Regular Guy not-a-medical-professional, I AM a medical professional and you are right on point. I have had a chronic dry cough, duh, GERD. Drinking ACV (I hesitate to say "fixed") has made a huge difference. I drink this indiscriminately during the day, no particular time. ACV, sweetener, sometimes with a little cinnamon or ginger, most times not. Tastes like apple cider with the nice side effect of taking care of the reflux. You’re right, I started taking it 2-3 weeks ago. I stop taking any kind of medication, my doctor says don’t eat or drink anything 3-5 hours before going to bed. I was very upset at myself because there’s no cure and he also mentioned eat less, I started to study more of my symptoms which was GERD. Drink 1 tablespoon add less 1/8 cup of water twice daily. I see improvements after 3 days and now I can eat anything I want like normal people but of course I still be careful. So glad to read about you who have symptoms and ideas. First week of ACV was pure horror for me. My LES was weakened because of years of omeprazole. Every night I'd feel acid in my throat. I had to take 20mg omeprazole before bed to make the suffering a little less harsh. But then, after +- 7 days, I no longer need omeprazole before bedtime. I noticed I could lie down without the need of swallowing all the time. The difference is night and day. I take my ACV in the morning (1h after my first meal), and in the late afternoon (half hour before my last meal). Keep pushing through the first week, it will be worth it.

Very useful information, thanks for this 👍. Would like to add my bit of it, people think that Low stomach acid means lower in quantity, NOT AT ALL, rather it's lower in its potency which is not very acidic enough to digest the food. Hence stomach produces more amount of acid to compensate it, which when touches the esophagous, the sphincter is damaged and lets the acid raise up to the throat, with a burning sensation. This is what we call acid reflux. Now here when we add ACV, ginger etc, it helps improve the pH of the stomach acid, thus lowering the quantity of stomach acid to an appropriate level naturally. So we don't have acid reflux anymore.😊 It's all about maintaining the pH level of the stomach acid to be more acidic that enables digestion.

Sorry about Father ,RIP. Have your doctor test you for Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection,if he says no ,demand it. It lives in your stomach and it's so strong it survives in your stomachs acid. It causes reflux/heartburn/gas and stomach /burning /bloating and ulcers among other things. It can cause stomach and or esophageal cancer if not treated. So many lives could be saved by getting this test. Test is simple ,go look it up, take care . PS: there are 4 tests you can get, you decide, but I would another test if you choose the breath test.
1-Blood tests. This test checks for infection-fighting cells (antibodies) that mean you have the bacteria.
2-Stool culture. This looks for any abnormal bacteria in your digestive tract
3-Breath tests. This test can check if there is any carbon after you swallow a urea pill that has carbon molecules. If carbon is found that means that H. pylori has made the enzyme urease.
4-Upper endoscopy, This test looks at the lining of your food pipe (esophagus), stomach, and duodenum (the first part of your small intestine). It uses a thin, lighted tube or endoscope. The tube has a camera at one end. The tube is put into your mouth and throat. Then it goes down into your esophagus, stomach, and duodenum. Your healthcare provider can see the inside of these organs. A small tissue sample (biopsy) is taken if needed. The tissue sample can show if you have the enzyme urease. It can also check the bacteria that is there.

I've been doing two tbs of ACV in a big glass of water twice a day for reference. Good luck!

Acid reflux is no joke. It is painful at the time but, the long-term effects can be deadly. Persistent acid reflux can lead to esophageal cancer. I know this because my husband has it and had to have a huge part of his esophagus removed. He is still fighting the effects and the cancer that spread from that original tumor. Please be careful and don't think it is "just heart burn". It could be so much more. If you start having any issues with swallowing - even after the acid reflux is gone - PLEASE see a doctor immediately.

I have H Pylori (currently treating) and it was the reason my GERD began. Unfortunately, H Pylori causes gut inflammation so starting ACV (whether your stomach acid is low or not) is too harsh on the gut. It's important to heal the inflammation with less harsh of foods like cabbage to help heal the stomach. So anyone that has no luck with the ACV route, you may want to check for other ailments causing the GERD before treating it and ACV will definitely help after that inflammation is treated.

Thank you so much for sharing your story and the 6 months and 12 months update, it was very helpful and encouraging. I have been having heartburns for a long time. It has gotten worse for the last 4 months. Last year I had an endoscopy because I had that sensation of fullness and having something suck on my throat, like you said, when you take a pill and goes the wrong way. Anyhow, they found the H. Pylori, but somehow the symptoms didn't go away. After watching Dr. Berg and yours, I will definitely start taking your tonic until I can reduce to 1 glass once in a while. I don't want antacids. It neutralizes ALL acids and enzymes that we need to digest our meals.
It is sad to realize that the majority of doctors only want to patch the symptoms instead of fixing the root of the problem. I have been dealing with IBS-C as well, and I am always looking for natural remedies. I haven't done keto diet but I did change my diet because of my IBS. I have cut down my carbs, got rid of cheap vegetable oil, only grass fed butter, etc. One think I found out today through Dr. Bergs video, it's that a lot of apple cider vinegar are diluted with water, like Bragg's. I checked the one from Costco, and sure enough, also diluted with water. Dr. Berg recommended Fairchild's brand, that one is not diluted. Just to share. Good luck everyone on this journey. I am very hopeful after this testimonial.

Thank you so much for this update. Everything you said here is true. I passed through thesame thing. At a point I was afraid to eat anything, but the moment I watched Dr Eric Bergs video and learnt that taking Gestid /omeprazole worsens my condition, for the first time I understood what was happening to me. I stopped taking them and switched to Apple cider vinegar. I started with 1spoon to a glass of water. I don't always rem taking it bf food, but the moment I finished eating, because of the way my stomach would feel, I go for acv for help. I don't add anything, I don't even drink only water with food or after it cause the Dr Berg said the water dilutes the little acid one has in the stomach if we do. So I drink the mix of water and acv after food. This is my 2nd week now. I feel great. No more acid reflux, or burning chest and throat or cough in the night. Also no more chronic sore throat. my digestion is perfect now. Though I also take probiotics with the acv.

Thank you, this is such a good reminder for me! I have been keto for 5 years. I am totally off all diabetes meds now. Recently, my acid reflux returned and I began taking the typical OTC acid reducers. After a month or so of taking them, I began to feel lousy and I suspected that I had low B12. So, I began taking a liquid supplement, which helped. Then...this video crossed my path. Duh! I realized that I had stopped drinking ACV and that what I was experiencing was low stomach acid, not high stomach acid. Long story short, not only did I start adding ACV in my water once or twice a day, I followed your recipe and began keeping a jar in my refrigerator (as a pre-made concentrate). It has been 4 days and I have not taken any acid meds. I feel so much better! I also started including my electrolytes in the mix to ensure I keep up with them. After sipping just several ounces of this mix in water, it is refreshing to my system...like an elixer. This is not medical advice, but I read that low stomach acid can result in deficiencies such as lack of iron, vitamin B12, and calcium. Interesting! Good reminder!

An anecdote readers may find interesting:
I am an avid fan of spicy food & hot sauce since 6th grade. I typically have 30+ bottles all over the place so that they're close at hand. On occasion I get a bit of heart burn or acid reflux (not sure the difference). All my friends that know me always immediately cite the amount of hot sauce I consume. For instance, I might typically use & LOVE an entire small bottle of Tabasco (2 fl oz) to accompany certain meals. My occasional symptoms never correlate with eating like so. In fact, due to my friends' thinking, I actually came to realize that the times it happens is in times where my eating patterns have changed and I've been eating "normal" foods -- more pastries, cereal, etc -- all things that I wouldn't add hot sauce too & often include lots of sugar. (I tried a few, but it's usually a waste of hot sauce ;) )
In short -- over a decade or so, the times of NOT eating spicy food correspond to times of getting reflux.
I actually found these videos that seem to confirm my suspicion while researching probiotics & bio-hacking.

    • @SinisterAnimationS

      @luke11.35 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@SinisterAnimationS Thanks, but the whole point of the comment is that when I eat less spice / "normal" then I get heartburn like everyone else. Like your comment, all my friends immediately think "the hot sauce," but the best fix that always works is realizing the I *haven't* been eating spicy. When I start eating a handful of jalapenos or lots of Tabasco with every meal that's when I *stop* getting heartburn sometimes. Stomach acid has a much lower pH (1.5 -3) than most spicy foods which are in the 3-6 range.

    • @luke11.35
      @luke11.35 ปีที่แล้ว

@@johnj4094 Yes, that IS along the lines of what I think is happening. Two weeks ago I had breakfast for dinner with friends and has scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, & pancakes. I was distracted and butter & syrup were the only things I thought to use.
A 1-2 hours later I started getting a burning / acid-reflux sensation. Two days later, I had eggs and sausage with lots of habanero, Tabasco, & about 1 cup pickled jalapenos. That's what I consider normal since my teens and I don't associate it with heartburn. I think the pancakes & syrup would have been fine if I'd eaten the rest like I normally do.
All the undesirable things most people associate with hot sauce, I personally never experienced except the occasions that I would consume significant sweets like others do. Basically take all the "When I eat Thai food / Taco bell / hot sauce..." anecdotes & stereotypes and rewrite them with "When I eat a lot of ice cream, cake, or pie..."
My hypothesis has for a long time been that it's related to interaction of the acids with the sugars - not one or the other. However each person's general metabolic state & chemistry are can 'reverse' how they perceive the effects. E.g. Adding acid to a glucogenic metabolism versus adding sugar to a ketogenic one with low pH levels (strongly acidic).
I think the acid gets the bad wrap because it's not a low barrier to entry like ice cream and cake. Also, billions of Indian and Thai diets over thousands of years seems to agree.
Increasing the acidity levels via what I consume may well be why I don't get heartburn unless I *don't* eat spicy. The paradox of how it is that *insufficient* acid results in s burning sensation is still a loss on me though. 8)

Thank you for doing these videos. I've only had mild acid reflux and I've never taken any medication. However, I have done several things to try to heal and also to prevent it getting any worse. To heal my oesophagus I took 20 drops of calendula tincture (from marigolds) twice a day in a little water. That works quickly. I've also found that eating an apple in the evening helped prevent any problems when I lay down. And finally I've tried making my own apple cider vinegar from those very same apple cores. It's an easy process and works well.
I was fascinated to learn that the sphincter muscle remains closed when there's high acid content in the stomach. That makes a lot of sense and means that I was wrong in assuming that I couldn't stop it opening. So thanks again.

I stumbled upon this three-part series a couple years ago. I went 8 days with no medication, but didn't last as my diet was full of inflammatory food. Recently my autoimmune has developed into very bad psoriasis eczema and joint pain, and now scleroderma also known as skin morphea. Im two weeks into no gluten, no refined sugar. I pretty well eat hard boiled eggs, chicken, ground beef/ pork and fruit and some vegetables. Today I am on day two of no medication. I was on 20mg of Nexium once every two days. Doesn't sound like a lot but if i were to miss that dose hell would come. I am and have been 100% convinced for years now that all my medical conditions are directly related to the medication. Yesterday I had to take three glasses of apple cider vinegar instead of two. And the burning was gone before bed.
Just wanted to share a little bit about myself. Our history with the medication in terms of timelines and doses are almost identical. I do appreciate your videos and the fact that you are still replying.

I'm making it through the day fine, I just have a small mouthful of water whenever I feel a burn (I don't want to fill the stomach more). Overall I would say there has been improvement during the day, and thankfully that night I posted here was my worst.
Have you done the test to make sure your stomach acid was actually low? I was going to try it this weekend (I didn't before, since I was on medications and figured it would be a certainty)

Try breathing exercises if it's not an acid issue.
search Liebscher & Bracht here on TH-cam. I use these for instant relief, but long term relief you may need to cut carbs out - I haven't been able to do that though.

To those wondering, it is my belief that LPR is actually the result of bacterial overgrowth, again, from low HCL. This bacterial overgrowth is the main source of the gas needed to aerosolize HCL. In this case, acetic acid may or may not help, because it is going to depend entirely on the species and strain of bacteria. It might be worth giving a try. In some cases LPR can simply be due to improper voice mechanics, i.e. voice too high, too low, bad posture etc. Some cases of LPR are in fact not LPR at all, and are incorrectly diagnosed as such. These are usually neuropathic cases and fall into a similar category as burning mouth syndrome and trigeminal neuralgia. Anyways, hope this info helps someone on their journey!
Addendum: Please be wary that quitting PPIs can cause severe rebound reflux. This is due to cell hypertrophy that occurs during the time you are taking acid cancelling drugs. It might be necessary to try and taper VERY SLOWLY off your meds...

Although this video was 5 months ago, I am a newbie to your channel for your wonderful keto information. I, like you have been taking Prilosec(or other GERD med) for at least 15 years. This med worked for me the entire time and I didnt need any more than the standard dose daily. I have wanted to get off the med for the longest time and experimented with other medications which were unsuccessful. When I saw this video on your site I decided to try this protocol as I didnt have as bad of reflex as you it appeared. I began at the beginning of Sept 2021 with two 30ml doses a day(which I just would shotglass, no drink mix). Initially it burned my throat and somewhat upset my stomach(mostly the first week), but I became accustomed to it. I planned a tapering down of my Prilosec for the whole month, at which time I would stop it if I could. I discovered after two weeks that I only needed one dose of ACV a day, and I had also extended my Prilosec dose out to every 4 days. I am currently at the third week and have stopped my Prilosec completely. I have had no issues with the culprits that would cause me issues even when using medication(beer, dark chocolate, hot/spicy sauces or food). I have noticed that I appear to have an even better digestion cycle, and stomach issues have become limited or nothing at all. Steve, thank you for your channel and the great keto info, but a thousand thanks for this set of three videos about this topic. You rock!!

@@SeriousKeto Hey Steve I thought about posting this in your alcohol issue video, but thought since some of the information is already here I'll just do it here. This may be a bit long, but bear with me. As you hopefully reread, I had pretty good success.....initially. After awhile I began to get a burning in my throat like we all begin GERD with. The burning became quite bad and I found that the ACV would burn my throat for quite awhile after taking a shot. It came down to the point that I needed a medication again, but did the alternate route not the PPI's. It worked okay for awhile but GERD would again creep in 3-4 times a week. I then realized that I was doing this so I could keep drinking whiskey and beer!! I decided to stop, the heartburn went away completely and with in a week my throat was healed. It isnt a big deal for me to stop, as I dont normally overdrink, couple of beers or a glass of whiskey at 5pm(that is a warning signal though, "set time to drink"). I actually have no desire to indulge at the moment, and down the line will probably partake in a beer with certain meals(Mexican & pub food), or a glass of whiskey in the evening 1-2 a month. I applaud you for coming forward with your issue, and we actually seem to be on similar paths of, "do I", "dont I", or will moderation work. I just wanted to share, as this seemed a good time to add to this journey of mine on eliminating GERD and the alcohol factor. Thx and keep up the good work.

This video is so important because doctors seem to prescribe those heartburn medications like candy and now they are finding that long term use is linked to dementia and other memory issues. Another natural remedy that helped me with conquering heartburn in the past was drinking aloe or digestive bitters. (Bitters also helped me get over my sweet tooth when first starting keto).

Heartburn meds also weaken your bones over time & can cause osteoporosis. If you have osteoporosis, you should use those meds for the shortest time possible.

@@Olfa_2006 I use Urban Moonshine’s original formula. I have no affiliation with them and found their product in my local grocery store. Not sure exactly what they are, other than magic! Basically, I believe they are distilled herbs. I know when traveling over in Europe, it was very common to have a “digestif” at the end of a heavy meal (not sure if I’m spelling that correctly). It was basically a very strong, bitter alcohol that helped digestion. This is similar, except I’m not sure if it has any alcohol in it, if it does, it is such a tiny amount you drink it wouldn’t add up to anything. I’ll take the bitters about 10 minutes before I eat to get my digestive juices flowing, again, not sure if there’s any actual scientific proof that this is how it works but it seems to help me. Also, if my tummy is feeling yuck I’ll take some and it often settles it. You can learn more about bitters and buy Urban Moonshine products here (or go to your local grocery or health store) . . . www.urbanmoonshine.com/pages/about-bitters?gclid=CjwKCAjwk6-LBhBZEiwAOUUDp8IHlfLbQoHiZkD2SFQCOj8QiM7MXvYiKU8KvU8QYKU0DslkeZim9hoCSu0QAvD_BwE

I like your statement of not being a physician, upfront attitude. Healthline has been mentioned in this video. Just want to comment that everyone should be careful about using "Resources" that are not medical associations, especially when it comes to awful side effects. There is a lot of media hype on TH-cams that are misleading and dangerous. And all because of someone wanting to make a buck. Your statement of not being a physician etc is spot on and while explaining your experiences and why you are sharing. While our physicians prescribe meds that are sometimes worse than the disease itself, I agree we sometimes have to seek alternatives. Reminder to check out the person and /or references used in videos, their background. Once found that someone's TH-cam and medical advice was using a Doctor, but not a medical doctor but a phd in a social study environment. Dangerous. Just a lawsuit away if someone wants to create havoc.
