    Hello, thanks for the video. I have a Pioneer AVH-120BT. My camera image is upside down. How do correct the orientation? I am unable to turn the camera 180 degrees. Any insight you can provide is appreciated.

      I'm not aware of a way to turn the camera image over in the software of the Pioneer AVH-120BT. Some cameras have settings to change the image orientation. Other than that, physically flipping the camera over is the only solution I have. I'm driving a right-hand drive vehicle in a left-hand drive country. I had an idea to rig up a forward-facing camera on the left wing mirror to the Pioneer screen, to assist with seeing around the vehicle in front. Is this feasible? What about power to the camera, does it come from the Pioneer or needs additional power? Thanks!

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you want to set up a forward facing camera, please be sure to get a camera that's designed as a forward facing camera. The Pioneer ND-BC8 shown in the video is designed as a rear facing backup camera and will not be suitable for this purpose. Any camera you use will need a power and ground connection for operation. As seen here: th-cam.com/video/kg0IaGC3JbE/w-d-xo.html The Pioneer AVH-110BT has one camera input. This idea would require the camera input and that means a backup camera would not work. Or you could use the AUX input as a camera input, though this is not particularly user friendly. Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera. I don’t know about the operation of other cameras.
      Be sure to plug the Brown camera output RCA into the Brown RCA Input on the back of the Pioneer in dash receiver.
      The Pioneer ND-BC8 camera needs power and ground to operate. The camera should always have power when the vehicle is switched on. And the camera should power off when the vehicle is switched off. This is very similar to the way the Red Accessory wire works on a Pioneer in-dash receiver.
      Just because the camera has power does not mean you are viewing the camera window on the in-dash receiver.
      The receiver’s violet/white wire is used to let the in-dash receiver know that the vehicle is in it’s reverse gear and, to automatically open the backup camera window on the receiver screen.
      Do not connect the violet/White wire to the camera.
      When you put the vehicle in it’s reverse gear, the violet/White wire should sense a change in voltage. This automatically opens the camera window on the in-dash receiver. And closes the camera window, when the vehicle is taken out of it’s reverse gear. One possibly connection for the violet/White Reverse Gear wire is the vehicle’s backup lamp terminal.

      What is the model number of your Pioneer in-dash receiver? It may be possible on some Pioneer receivers. If you open the camera window on the Pioneer in-dash receiver and see a black screen, that usually means the camera is not powered on.
      Pioneer in-dash receivers are designed to work with the Pioneer ND-BC8 backup camera. I don’t know about the operation of other cameras.
      Be sure to plug the Brown camera output RCA into the Brown RCA Input on the back of the Pioneer in dash receiver. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/adbrQ6hUzwQ/w-d-xo.html

      Deckerd Otto. I checked and as far as I can tell, everything is hooked up the way it’s supposed to be. I have a wire going from the backup light to the purple wire, the camera feed in the brown in put and the black grounded and the red to the red on the back of the radio. I get a picture for 6 seconds (so it does work for an instant) then when the radio gets powered up I loose it and it won’t come back til I shut the engine off and restart it. After the 6 seconds I then get a screen that has the timer in the corner and says (the video may appear reversed) and if I go to camera view it’s the same. The vehicle that the radio was in was recently in a accident and totaled so I am putting it in a different truck. I have a felling something in the radio might of been damaged.

      If there was a vehicle crash, all bets are off. It could be a damaged camera, or damaged receiver.
      If you want to try to correct the issue, I recommend to press the receiver's microprocessor reset button. You'll need a paperclip or some other small point on the microprocessor reset button. You can find the microprocessor reset button on the Pioneer AVH-1330NEX near the eject button.
      I also recommend to go to the home screen and open the camera window. Then press the "X" button at the top right. You can see it here: th-cam.com/video/WY0GLsC3AxE/w-d-xo.html This closes the camera window. If you press the timer button, the camera will disappear in about 5 seconds.
      If you have easy access to the back of the receiver, I recommend a couple of simple tests.
      If you have a DMM Digital Multi-Meter, I recommend to test the power source at the camera, not at the back of the receiver, while the vehicle is running, but not in reverse. It should measure 12 volts if the vehicle is operating. If possible, running power and ground directly to the battery as a power source will remove a lot of variables from the question. Also running 12 volts from the battery to the violet/white reverse gear wire can also remove many variables. Be sure the Polarity in the camera set up screen is set to battery. You an see it here: th-cam.com/video/WY0GLsC3AxE/w-d-xo.html

Most of the time when I put the car in reverse (5 speed) sometimes the camera comes on sometimes it doesn't I have to turn it off manually. 2.) I have a pioneer 1000 watt amp powering a 12 inch subwoofer in my trunk ever since I put this deck in every time I go to start my vehicle my battery is dead I am wondering what's going on is the camera constantly drawing power or what please help

    • @deckerdotto6035
      @deckerdotto6035 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If the vehicle's battery is dying there is an incorrect draw on the battery when the vehicle is switched off. An incorrectly wired amplifier will kill a battery quickly. An incorrectly wired camera will eventually kill the battery but it will take a little longer. If both are wrong, it'll go fast. I recommend to disconnect one component in the system at a time to determine where the problem is located. Here is a video about the Pioneer wire harness. th-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/w-d-xo.html For the in-dash receiver, focus on the Red Ignition Wire and the Yellow Constant Power Wire. Do not wire Red and Yellow together. In addition, please be sure to check that the amplifier power indicator light is off when the vehicle is switched off. You don't need to disconnect the amp, just check the power indicator light when the vehicle is off. If the amplifier is staying on after the car is switched off, this will kill the battery very quickly. Please check the Blue/White wire from in-dash receiver to the System Control connection on the amplifier.

      Yes, it's your wiring. The Purple/White wire must see a change in voltage when you put the car in it's reverse gear, and when you take the car out of reverse. This will automatically open and close the backup camera window on the in-dash receiver.

      You can switch the camera window open manually at any time by touching the camera view button on the Home Screen seen here: th-cam.com/video/UxuZp71garg/w-d-xo.html If you want the camera window to automatically open and close when you put the vehicle in reverse gear, I recommend using the reverse light. You can learn more about wiring your Pioneer receiver here: th-cam.com/video/-bF3uzzaT30/w-d-xo.html If you don't know how to do wiring like this, I recommend taking your vehicle to a qualified car stereo shop for help with installation.
