It would be cool but Disney being Disney there gonna make the Imperial guard betray the emperor or something like that or make the imperial guard fall in love or whatever because well it’s Disney
I'd be interested to see a live action series on the Emperor's Royal Guards. Crimson Empire was great but sadly no longer canon. A live action series like that would be amazing.
It doesn't matter that it's not canon anymore. Disney canon is stupid and 90% isn't true to Star Wars and makes no sense at all. Their writers aren't hired because they know Star Wars, they're hired because they did well with something else and they don't have much if any Star Wars knowledge so it will be a "new take" or "new perspective" on Star Wars
Driklir Uh no I won't. Imitation isn't the same thing as "is", learn the difference. If you got tricked, then be mad at yourself for not having enough mental discipline to understand that just because they wear the same color doesn't mean they are the same unit.

Love this story arc, except for the Imperial Royal Guard shooting down a Tie-Fighter. I think even the most powerful hand-held blaster would not be able to penetrate the armor of a fighter, considering not even every ship-mounted blaster penetrates another ship's defenses.
@@sephykira3825 It could've been like Jangos blaster pistol where shots were powerful enough to knock the lightsaber out of a Jedis hands just from the impact of blocking it or how he killed that (Big monster) with like 1 or 2 shots before fighting Mace
Commit suicide when the emperor died ? Damn, they're like samurai when the shogun or master dies. Well the original inspiration for Lucas to make Star Wars was a Japanese show.
For the comments talking about the lightsaber battle in tlj, the guards in tlj are not Imperial guards. The guards protecting Snoke are called Praetorian guards.
Like Brendan-kx8iy said stormtrooper armor actually does do quite a bit. Not only does it protect very well against most things apart from blasters, it stops the shot from the blaster and the trooper just gets knocked out usually, they don't usually die when they get shot, the rebels do
Imagine similar story about Imperial Guards as the Mandalorian series, training, fighting, to becoming one, to rampaging against Rebels and doing assassination contracts...
their training and fighting always reminded me of the initation and training of the league of assasins they training to the point where they were the moves combat and skill was considered non human or to the point were ppl thought some of the loa were meta humans or had some other form of superpowers these guards are so badass i would love to see them just crush a bunch of clones and traitours imperials or assasins
Sun Tsu says: Regard your soldiers as your children and they will follow you into the deepest valleys, look upon them as your own beloved sons and they will stand by you even unto death.
I have always found the royal guard interesting, they are the most elite division in the empire by far. I bet if there was 10 or 15 guards they could take down Vader.
Even after their intense training and natural skills, vader could easily beat up a dozen of them. Vader is unbelievably powerful, dude literally cannot be beaten
Vader pulled down a whole ass ship and tore the side of it off with the force in Kenobi….. He’d force crush all of their rib cages at once before he’d lose.
Royal Guards would not be enough to take down Vader but the Black/Elite Royal Guards are force sensitives if i remember correctly, those could do it. (I don't mean the inquisitors, there was an Elite variant of IRGs that wore black armor and even had lightsaber staffs altough they might be non-canon).
For the Imperials on the ground, the Battle of Endor was extremely traumatic. The Ewoks were exceptionally strong for their size and used poisoned arrows. Many stormtroopers died in horrifying ways, whether clubbed to death, pelted with large rocks, or killed by the poison. In space, the sudden loss of the Emperor's Battle Meditation threw the Imperial fleet into a panic, allowing the Rebels to defeat them.
Not an expert on Star Wars, What I've read that the Stormtroopers from The Clone Wars and with red imperial guards for Emperor which were trained extremely hard After the death of the Emperor and Darth Vader I take it that the Clones stopped making Stormtroopers and the red guards didn't have the same training any more as there wasn't anyone as powerful in the dark force as the Emperor or Darth Vader
You can't compare Mandalorians to Imperial Guards, lmao. Stop your cringy thread at once!11!1 Also, since you can't spell Mandalorians correctly, I know you have no idea what you're talking about
I love the Royal guards, their look is incredibly awesome. However, I have some issues with them. Firstly, why Did Darth Sidious want non-force sensitive guards, but was okay with giving an ex Jedi the job of inquisitor? The fact that the inquisitor is an ex Jedi shows that Sidious is okay with having force sensitive less powerful than him and Vader high ranking members of the empire. While I'definitely see why he'd never teach anyone to be as powerful as him or Vader, I don't see why he wouldn't teach force sensitive candidate to use the force in combat. Secondly, if royal guards' only goal is to protect the emperor, why didn't they confront Vader and Luke when they were escaping the Death Star? I have a hard time believing that guards ready to die for the emperor at any moment would flee the Death Star to save their own life. I know that Sidious told them to leave the room, but it seems out of character for them to go anywhere else than just outside the room. Also, why would Darth Sidious feel safe from facing any Jedi or any threat on his own, but would still require guards to fight less powerful ennemies? If you are infinitely more powerful than your guards, why do you need them? Last thing, who would fight while wearing these robes? Isn't their clothes super inconvenient for battle? All of that being said, I never cared about such details when watching the movies, I just remember loving how cool these guys look. I'm only asking those questions because a lot of us love to seek information about unimportant details :).
"The best armor the Empire had to offer, better than that of Stormtroopers." Not really hard to have better armor than stormtroopers.. You die after 1 hit..
From what i remember the Clone armor was geared more towards protecting against damage in critical areas while storm trooper armor was kind of offered the same protecting all around but less so than clone armor so the trooper had a better chance of surviving a hit but was knocked out or immobilized. Basically clone was take a hit and keep fighting while storm was if you get hit you have an above average chance of living to fight another day.
@@juliomiguelrocha4318 Yeah, it was designed to protect them from light blaster fire, debris, and improvised weapons from an oppressed populous. The emperor didn't care about them being a durable military force and didn't think them worth the expense of good armor.
But the most impressive part of their training is that they were taught to actually HIT the target with their blasters. Regular stormtroopers didn't have access to training for this hyper-advanced technique.
Random thought: if these guys can fight armies of stormtroopers solo, and Darth Vader can easily beat them, and Luke beat Darth Vader easily in rotj, really shows how strong luke was.
I really liked the video but would have like to see more information on named guards like Kir Kanos or Carnor Jax from the Crimson Empire comic series. I have that series and it was a really great series from Dark Horse and I think it would make a great tv or animated series.
I was thinking the same. He showed a lot of pictures of Kir Kanos and Carnor Jax but he didn't mention them despite being probably the strongest Imperial Guards in Star Wars history.
What you saw was the praetorian guards, they're different from imperial guards, they're weaker. The Imperial Guards are Elite of the elite, cream of the crop, top notch soldiers. But however they lack in weapon, The praetorians are definitely advanced in weaponry. but in terms of skill, The Imperial guards are better.
I always thought of the The Royal Guards as being trained in the dark side. That was back in the 1980's before the introduction of the Sith into the Star Wars universe.
Yinchorr was a very obvious nod to Salusa Secundus--just as the Imperial Royal Guards themselves had more than a little in common with the Sardaukar. I am not sure if Lucas has ever commented on how much or little the Dune universe influenced him, but I am sure it was in the back of his mind especially during the early 1970's
Absolutely **LOVE** The Imperial Royal Guards. Didn't think too much of them during The Original Trilogy (I was too young, I guess), but discovered The Crimson Empire in the 90's. That and the fact that only the best and most powerful become Shadow Guard & Sovereign Protectors is just too cool to ignore. You should do a Shadow Guard vid. Keep up the great content!

Meh. This one was pretty shitty or boring for Legends.
Disney has done better than this.
Imperial Royal Guards are awesome! Hope we see them in action on the big screen soon.

The entire comment section seems to be people making the constant mistake that the Praetorian Guards from The Last Jedi are the same as the Imperial Royal Guards. There not.
Finish watching the video and that should have been made more than clear.
I can only imagine how good a movie depicting an imperial guards rise would be. Making it a short story like rogue one would be insanely cool.
It would be cool but Disney being Disney there gonna make the Imperial guard betray the emperor or something like that or make the imperial guard fall in love or whatever because well it’s Disney

These guys were underrated.
Wow the amount of people in these comments that think the Imperial Royal Guards were in TLJ is pretty sad.
SonGara they clearly were ment to imitate or be like them so no fuck off
Driklir Uh no I won't. Imitation isn't the same thing as "is", learn the difference. If you got tricked, then be mad at yourself for not having enough mental discipline to understand that just because they wear the same color doesn't mean they are the same unit.
I swear it feels like if they are doing it on purpose. Such ignorance I've been reading.
Agree. It's frustrating.
SonGara Exactly
They were quite visible in Return of the Jedi. There was lore and stories and comic books about these badass red guards. So much mystery and hype surrounded them for years. Then in Revenge of the Sith, Yoda dispatches 2 of them with a flick of his wrist. 1:41 And that was that. So much for the badass crimson draped guards. Havent heard much about them since.
I thought those guys are still not Royal guards just Senate guard with different uniform

People need to know the difference between royal guards and elite praetorian guards.
what is the difference?
FBI Different time period, armor, weapons, etc.
@@runtzcrtl The Praetorian Guard was Smoke's private guard.
FBI the difference is that Praetorians suck
@@runtzcrtl, the Royal Guard was around during the time of the Empire. Different training and weapons than the Praetorian Guard, who were Snoke's bodyguards during the First Order's reign
Love this story arc, except for the Imperial Royal Guard shooting down a Tie-Fighter. I think even the most powerful hand-held blaster would not be able to penetrate the armor of a fighter, considering not even every ship-mounted blaster penetrates another ship's defenses.
Well, it is a TIE, and he shot the cockpit glass
Idk, in Vietnam Huey helicopter pilots had no real protection against AK-47s
It's a very powerful gun.

Joe Garingan They act like the Nazis when the Allied forces reached Berlin.
There was a lot of influence for star wars from samurai ironically
It’s a combination of the Japanese and Germans, the royal honor guards are like Japanese while the Emperors officers and generals look like nazis
Empire is harsh man!
*cough* Dune *cough*
For the comments talking about the lightsaber battle in tlj, the guards in tlj are not Imperial guards. The guards protecting Snoke are called Praetorian guards.
"Their armor offered far more protection than Stormtrooper armor." Considering Stormtrooper armor didn't do shit, that's not saying much.
Choppytehbear1337 Well, if it did, there would be no Star Wars movies...
It actually does do something. The armor actually saves many troopers from dying by dispersing a blaster bolt and knocking out the trooper.
HAHAHAHAHA no wonder
Before video: "Pfft, what is so impressive about just standing there?"
After video: Oh.
That one Imperial Guard was Kir Kanos. And in all fairness, I believe he was partially Force-sensitive.
Great video, btw!
TheDavidiscoolified I think that most imperial guards are force sensitive. Either that or all shadow guard are force sensitive
TheDavidiscoolified i love those comics
Same.
Kir Kanos is one of my favorite characters in the Legendsverse. The Crimson Empire storyline is one of the best Legends ever produced.
I would say Royal Guards are very close to being force sensitive in the same way that Boba Fett was close to being force sensitive.
Sun Tsu says: Regard your soldiers as your children and they will follow you into the deepest valleys, look upon them as your own beloved sons and they will stand by you even unto death.
I would argue kir kanos was at least mildly force sensitive. I'm sure he would have qualified for the Jedi service corps.
Imagine years of brutal training and got finally selected as a royal guard for the emperor only to get choked by a dude full of hate
Remember fighting that one Shadow Guard in the Force Unleashed. Yeah he was tough in a game that made you feel like an omnipotent god.
4:25 that guy has a pokeball on his head just to point out it looks like it
Lmaoooo
It literally is a pokeball lol
My first thought as well lol
I have always found the royal guard interesting, they are the most elite division in the empire by far. I bet if there was 10 or 15 guards they could take down Vader.
Even after their intense training and natural skills, vader could easily beat up a dozen of them. Vader is unbelievably powerful, dude literally cannot be beaten
Not likely. He could just force push them all away and cut them down easily
Vader would annihilate them lol
Vader pulled down a whole ass ship and tore the side of it off with the force in Kenobi….. He’d force crush all of their rib cages at once before he’d lose.
Royal Guards would not be enough to take down Vader but the Black/Elite Royal Guards are force sensitives if i remember correctly, those could do it.
(I don't mean the inquisitors, there was an Elite variant of IRGs that wore black armor and even had lightsaber staffs altough they might be non-canon).
I would love to see a tv series based on these guys
I want to hear more about this single guard joining the rebels.
Kir Kane’s, star of three “Crimson Empire” series by Dark Horse
Kir Kanos...damn spell check
Biorythym lol
Fact Free plz make a Video about The Imperial Shadow Guard or a StormTroopes Perspective of Battle on Endor
For the Imperials on the ground, the Battle of Endor was extremely traumatic. The Ewoks were exceptionally strong for their size and used poisoned arrows. Many stormtroopers died in horrifying ways, whether clubbed to death, pelted with large rocks, or killed by the poison. In space, the sudden loss of the Emperor's Battle Meditation threw the Imperial fleet into a panic, allowing the Rebels to defeat them.
i know but i want him to make a video about it, very good explained my friend

Not an expert on Star Wars,
What I've read that the Stormtroopers from The Clone Wars and with red imperial guards for Emperor which were trained extremely hard
After the death of the Emperor and Darth Vader
I take it that the Clones stopped making Stormtroopers and the red guards didn't have the same training any more as there wasn't anyone as powerful in the dark force as the Emperor or Darth Vader
I just want a movie or show that has a royal guard in action I’ll settle for fan made animation
So Imperial royal guard's are the imperial equivalent of mandolorians?
Darth Stalker By the sound of it, yeah
Imari Sharp What warrior culture (besides the Yinchorri) are skilled enough to go toe-to-toe with Force sensitive's?
Darth Stalker Possibly Jango Fett's clan. He seem to have a skill against Obi Wan and Mace. His death was from his damage jetpack not working
Imari Sharp That's just Fett. I'm wondering about his clan overall
Imperial Guards and Knights of Ren having all their badass moments off screen, name a better duo.

When Yoda yeeted those two red guards, I was laughing my butt off LOL :D
"The best armor the Empire had to offer, better than that of Stormtroopers."
Not really hard to have better armor than stormtroopers.. You die after 1 hit..
No
They don't die, they just get knocked out, get bathed in bacta, recover from their (possible) wounds and they're good to go.
Plastic armor
@@juliomiguelrocha4318 Yeah, it was designed to protect them from light blaster fire, debris, and improvised weapons from an oppressed populous. The emperor didn't care about them being a durable military force and didn't think them worth the expense of good armor.

There are some who did actually have the force and were chosen for a different group
Royal Guards: **trains for years**
Darth Vader: *ok cool cool, how about this...*

I really appreciate all the work you have put into this. Your videos, including all the clips and artwork, is excellent. Thank you!
''ROYAL GUARDS ARE SOOO COOL!!''
I wonder how intense the fear would be for a rebel force to learn there was a Shadow Guard in the area they were operating in. How unlucky you'd feel.
I think it's because Vader at that point just wanted to surrender.

The guards in The Last Jedi looked similar, and were quite skilled.
What you saw was the praetorian
guards, they're different from
imperial guards, they're weaker.
The Imperial Guards are
Elite of the elite, cream of the
crop, top notch soldiers.
But however they lack in weapon,
The praetorians are definitely
advanced in weaponry.
but in terms of skill,
The Imperial guards are better.
