They're evenly matched LMAO. They tied in RotS. They both gave each other blows and received them. Palpatine literally disarmed Yoda. The reason Palpatine seems to have won at the end since he didn't fall at the bottom of the senate was because of his bigger stature. But they are evenly matched at the end of the day. Both have their advantages and their disadvantages.
This was probably the greatest homage to Yoda I have ever seen on TH-cam. Thank you. Thank you very much. Yoda is my favorite character in all of Star Wars, and you did him Justice. May the force be with you.
Keep in mind - As said in the video: Palpatine's force lightning can even in just one burst clear an entire room of all combatants, and reduce things to ash. Yoda was capable of not only "Tanking" a (all be it temporary shot) of it, but as well completely defending against it, resulting in both opponents being sent hurling backwards. Yoda being smaller, he took a bigger blast from it, and if you notice, Palpatine nearly fell too. As well as before the lightsaber duel sending Palpatine flying like a rag doll after Palpatine got too arrogant and he thought he had Yoda fried and beaten. Yoda was also very old at this time, and while he did have The Force on his side, age does do things. So, for anyone who is dismissive of Yoda, just remember what he says to Sidious (after taking a shot to Force lightning to the face mind you, the most painful thing you can ever endure, and sending him in return rag-dolling off towards his desk) - *"If so powerful you are. Why leave?"*
And yet, it would be a complete waste of time telling the story of the most powerful force user know in Star Wars universe. Yoda was a hack who couldn't defeat a 50-year-old sith and his former apprentice who was like 75... What load of crap Star Wars is.
@@avaryzachary4509 He fought him in a lightsaber duel, and survived. He was just clever enough to know not to confront him directly. When Yoda wants to kill you, most chances are you die.
@@LePLusCoolDesCools Mate, Yoda wanted finished Sidious and he couldn't, as he clearly daid: "At an end, your reign is". Yoda retreated, probably because he felt Sidious had the slightest edge, otherwise he would have continued to fight him.
Yoda in the Original Trilogy: Ooh ooh look at me a little green man I am heeeheeheehehe Yoda in the Prequels: Powerful, I am. Tolerate foolishness, I do not. Fear me, Palpatine does.
Yoda is powerful and all, but it seems that people forget that he never fought a Sith prior to Dooku. If Yoda had fought Sith for centuries, then Sidious would have stood no chance.
Yoda in his prime could be his time during the Clone Wars. He's past his physical prime, but his experience with the Force makes up for it (to a certain extent). He can augment himself for some time, and his ability to use the Force has never been better.
That changes hardly anything at all. Experience means far less to a Force user than it does to a regular person. It might have afforded him the edge to deal with Sidious after disarming him (as Yoda was the slightly superior duelist to Sidious, and held the slightest inferiority in the Force despite their shared parity) he was ultimately only outpaced by Sidious's tactical supremacy. Combat experience might have made Yoda more apt to handle tactics had Yoda's objective *not* been Sidious's death, whereas Sidious need only to survive. That alone, mitigates any advantage Yoda's "experience" with live combat against Sith would provide. And then there is the matter that absolutely no amount of experience could possibly prepare neither Yoda nor Sidious for such a fight between beings of their power. The only thing that could have changed the outcome definitively would be 1: somehow reconciling the disparity of balance between the perversion of the dark side vs the Force (which is the entire reason for the Jedi demise. Their inaction upon learning of the return of the Sith and their arrogance of believing they could not be touched) Or 2: Yoda being younger and closer to his prime. Though age normally doesn't have an effect on a Force user's power, it can if they have an unusually longer lifespan. It can be inferred that Yoda's life has extended far beyond the average, even for his species, due to being a pinnacle of Light/his own sheer will (Star Wars Fun Fact: In ESB Yoda was all but dead if not for his ability to literally will himself to live. He let himself die in RotJ)
@@knallekalle9920 Yoda could be well past his prime during the Clone Wars. Apparently by age 700 he began to decline in passive telekinetic ability while in meditation. It is only a fleeting mention, but by Yoda's admission, he falters in lifting more than 5 Muntuur Stones by age 700. The context implies that he was able to lift more than 5 Stones before age 700. Edit: though it could be likely that he deepened his connection after this occurence, as the Stone lifting takes place in 115BBY, which means you may be correct in assuming the Clone Wars era is Yoda's prime. It remains pretty nebulous regardless, as he begins to decline once again during the Empire era This means his power spectrum must have fluctuated at least two different times when he grew older, which is strange
knalle kalle I think he would’ve beaten Sidious if the terrain was different. He only retreated because he got blasted off of the top of the senate chambers + lost his saber
@@sd4762 Ketamine is a medication mainly used for starting and maintaining anesthesia. It induces a trance-like state while providing pain relief, sedation, and memory loss.
Forgot to mention that Yoda was able to not only watch over Luke on Tatooine, but Yoda also knew how he felt and what he was thinking about. "Long have I watched this one, always looking to the horizon. Never at WHERE HE WAS, hmm? WHAT HE WAS DOING!"
Yes. In fact this is a Force ability that is only granted to The Grandmaster alone. Kind of like how only Dumbledore can apparate in Hogwarts. The Jedi Grand Master who's kind of like the Avatar of the light side, can actually see through other force-sensitive beings eyes. Almost like possessing them but not really. ( this is also why when Mace Windu comes into the room with Yoda, even though he is powerful also, he has no idea what's going on with Anakin. But Yoda knows that Anakin is slaughtering sand people and exactly what he's doing in that moment. And he tells Mace Windu Skywalker is in pain, terrible pain. he also is really the only one that senses when every single Jedi from order 66 dies.) If he wanted to he could control their actions remotely, from far away. But he wouldn't violate their agency by doing that. But the Jedi Grand Master has the ability to see what someone else is seeing at any moment that they want. And feel what they are feeling. They also have the ability to project themselves in the force, kind of like manifesting themselves in the light side. Which is why Luke does that hologram Force projection thing, in the Last Jedi, even though I hated that movie. It's a cool ability. And its inability only granted to the Grand Master of the Jedi Order. And at that time Luke was The Grandmaster. So The Grandmaster can make themselves look like they are somewhere else.
Yoda did that due to being powerful in the force, same as Sidious. They could penetrate others mind, without being noticed, such as when Sidious penetrated Yodas during a meeting. Yoda felt Anakins rage through the force, since his connection are litterally the pinnacle of natural force users, only ones in history that might become stronger are Skywalkers and maybe Kyp Durron.
There was this plot armour Sidious was wearing for Mace, Depa and Yoda could have owned him at any time. Loosing twice in a single movie and surviving to rule the Galaxy 😪😑

Damn I could only imagine how cool it would have been growing up watching Yoda in the original Star Wars trilogy then him showing his force ability and dual skills in the prequels
In the Revenge of the Sith junior novel, it states that Yoda actually disarmed Sidious during their duel. Only Mace Windu and Luke Skywalker were able to do this
According to the ROTS lightsaber coordinator, their Lightsaber duel was determined by enviorment, not skill and since the enviorment favored Yoda more, he won the saber duel, not that Sidious wasn't ready for it tho, since he managed to keep the distance between them
@Take My Breath Away!!! mace windu has an ability that transforms the opponents dark side energy into his own/uses it against them. I just remembered, it might've been a fighting style, not an ability
The fact that only 5 or so other force-users could even reasonably content with Yoda speaks volumes about his power and skills with the Force. Not to mention his feat of lifting five of the Muntuur Stones(each weighing over a ton and one weighing over 5 tons) with only the Force speaks volumes about his skills with telekinesis. Very informative and a good vid. MTFBWY.
Only five was later on in his life. Yoda is one of only two Jedi ever to lift all 7 mutuur stones. Although in Legends Luke eventually lifts all seven and that's what JJ Abrams originally intended to show at the end of the movie. But they removed it. So only Yoda and one other Jedi whose name I forget, she had been The Grandmaster several centuries earlier, lifted all seven stones. It's just that in his extreme old age it became more difficult for him and when he was over 700 years old he only lifted five of them.
dude when they lift those stones, they are in ameditative trance and only shows their passive connection. Yoda has a more massive feat of lifting a freakin moutain, as do Legends Luke with a freakin artifical black hole
OR...is it possible that Yoda has fully given in to the "dark side," but has mastered it in a way to make it his own within the "light?" We see Yoda summon (not use) lightning in TLJ to burn the Jedi library which possibly indicates he knows how to tap into the sith power without letting it influence his being (being mind or physical). Same concept when Yoda stops Dooku's force lightning in AOTC. He knew how to absorb (or redistribute) the sith power without letting it influence his being (be it mind or physical). Could mean that in order to fully become one (balance) with the force, you have to embrace both the light and the dark to become whole (ying AND yang).
Yoda learned the true meaning of balance long after the Jedi order had been destroyed. He was very knowledgeable about the force, but he would never use the dark side in any way.
I don't know if Palpatine was necessarily _afraid_ per se to fight Yoda, I think he was more apprehensive because he knew it was a fight where he would have to go all out, something he didn't get as much personal satisfaction out of as more annoyance. Sidious was very much used to dominating his opponents or putting on a false front that they could win, stroking his own ego over their feelings of desperation and seeing their spirits be crushed. However, Yoda was not really an opponent that Sidious could force to fear him or make feel inadequate about his ability. Yoda was like a tough, little green stone that Sidious wanted to smash underfoot but he just wouldn't break no matter how hard he stepped on him and so, Sidious needed to bring in a sledgehammer in the form of his stronger force power. Having to pull out all the stops was straining and left Sidious feeling more angry than elated, especially given that Yoda wasn't killed by his force lightning. Sidious was a sadist by nature and Yoda just wasn't a very fun toy.
7:17 THIS. Star Wars Fans, especially that have experience with EU know that Yoda is a good teacher and has archive of Jedi Lore for next generation of Jedi. But on the Last Jedi, they make Yoda's Force Ghost destroy the Jedi's Archive that have the only copy of Jedi Lores and Books. It is so Out of Character of He was.
In canon Yoda lifted a mountain, Vader deastroyed batalions of rebels, Vader lifted AT-AT, Vader made earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and storm when he was "bleeding" the Kyber Crystal on Mustafar (literaly the whole planet was shaking)
God, I love how the force lightning looks in the movies, it's just so energetic that even the wielders struggle to completely control their accuracy while using it.
I think Palpatine should've shown more fear of Yoda in ROTS. I know it isn't in his character, but Palps running away from Yodster up the senate shrieking before using the force to subdue him would've added to the film I think.
Yoda is kind of like a demigod since he was extremely powerful, his species lived nearly to 1000 years, he was so wise and had a lot of time during which he likely reached total inner peace with himself.
7:48 "Using the force to straight up sustain himself during his final years". This sounds like “use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life and keep those he cared about from dying”
Yoda is one of my favorite Jedi, whenever someone has a problem, has a feeling something is wrong or needs a advice they all know the only one who can help them is Yoda.
Well, in his duel with Windu, Palp was confident enough, but he lost, significantly by the way. And he survived only because nobody, especially not Windu, could believe for 1 second, that Anakin could protect a Sith. If Yoda was even "stronger" (with the force and) with the lightsaber, he should beat him. Actually the duel between Palp and Yoda was choreographed even. But Palp had the highground. :) I don't understand, how this could happen to Jedi :D The thing is, all of this should never happen, if Windu used his brain. Because engaging the councelor is maybe good and he will win, but he should have known, if he loses, Jedi would never have a real chance again. Not even Yoda.
Physically definitely not but their natural connection to the force even in their infantile stages makes them pretty insanely formidable. Also take the physicality thing with a grain of salt since the force can propel physical abilities as seen with yoda.

Yoda with a Latern ring claps the entirety of the Star Wars universe and its not even close
Yoda will forever be my favorite Star Wars character.

George Lucas intentionally didn't allow anyone to write Yoda stories for the EU. It's meant to be a mystery, and revealing it can only make it worse.
Disney will probably make a movie of TLJ quality and Yoda will be ruined. Maybe they shouldn't touch Yoda indeed.
And yet, it would be a complete waste of time telling the story of the most powerful force user know in Star Wars universe. Yoda was a hack who couldn't defeat a 50-year-old sith and his former apprentice who was like 75... What load of crap Star Wars is.

Our canon*
True canon*
The real Canon***
The ONLY canon.
It's not "Nostalgia" That binds us. It's simply that these stories were better, and these new stories are not.
The only thing that could have changed the outcome definitively would be
1: somehow reconciling the disparity of balance between the perversion of the dark side vs the Force (which is the entire reason for the Jedi demise. Their inaction upon learning of the return of the Sith and their arrogance of believing they could not be touched)
Or 2: Yoda being younger and closer to his prime. Though age normally doesn't have an effect on a Force user's power, it can if they have an unusually longer lifespan. It can be inferred that Yoda's life has extended far beyond the average, even for his species, due to being a pinnacle of Light/his own sheer will
(Star Wars Fun Fact: In ESB Yoda was all but dead if not for his ability to literally will himself to live.
It remains pretty nebulous regardless, as he begins to decline once again during the Empire era
This means his power spectrum must have fluctuated at least two different times when he grew older, which is strange

And he tells Mace Windu Skywalker is in pain, terrible pain. he also is really the only one that senses when every single Jedi from order 66 dies.)
If he wanted to he could control their actions remotely, from far away.
Master Oogway Last Jedi? Whats that? Theres no starwars movie by that name, you must be mistaken.

I think Palpatine could have put his saber in his sleeve and fled the Chancellor's Pod, but Yoda most likely disarmed him.

Prime example of why I think Master Yoda is underrated
Fun fact: Yoda uses form 4 Ataru to stand up and uses his entire body for movement, this is very impressive coz he was suffering from arthritis

Could mean that in order to fully become one (balance) with the force, you have to embrace both the light and the dark to become whole (ying AND yang).
sesroH oN and now u have the grey Jedi (not in cannon yet tho)
@@reetzys1606 the summoning lightning was more of a jedi in touch with nature is the way i took it
Yoda learned the true meaning of balance long after the Jedi order had been destroyed. He was very knowledgeable about the force, but he would never use the dark side in any way.
Oh so master plo kun is a sigh lord hmm
