So sorry the Dart is locked up. Bought a 1986 Mustang early 1990's that had ingested water and would not turn over. Pulled the engine apart and found one badly bent rod. Nothing else wrong so I honed cylinders, valve job, new rings and bearings, and replaced that rod. Drove it many years, sold it to my brother and he drove it many years. Well over 200k when parked. Now my son has it and is gonna get her going again.

DON'T CRANK THE ENGINE PERIOD! Remove the oil pan to check the actual condition of the crankshaft and bearings. Not to say you should take of the head aswell.
Don't be afraid to open the engine! You do know it's a matter of a couple of hours to screw it back together but we always avoid doing it!
Even if you manage ti turn the engine you should be aware of the condition of the cylinder walls and pretty much everything, otherwise this is so pointless!
For example it might need a little honing which might clean a rusted cylinder which can otherwise get destroyed if the engine ever run. The crank will also get so destroyed if it cranks with seized bearings no matter how much mystery oil you put.
It sure as heck is a nice engine but to fix this you need to disassemble it completely.

Marvel's mystery oil is good stuff. Harbor freight runs a sale on a decent bore scope super cheap you might want to look into. I'd pull the carpets and check wiring before spending much. Make sure everything electrical works.

I don't think a starter is strong enough to bend rods, but if it starts and sucks water in from the manifold or somewhere it can be bad. That said you dont want to run an engine with water in the sump, it will just make it so much harder to get all the water out.

Randy here in Germany we take WD 40 rust remover with a little brake fluid only about 10 drops per cylinder with WD 40 then let it work for 4-6 hours and 95% of the motors turn! Then fill it with Liquid Moly engine rinse and oil and let it run until all the water and oil mixture is out!

If Marvell's Mystery Oil doesn't work, try using transmission fluid. I had acquired a submerged outboard that was seized. After letting it sit with transmission fluid in the cylinders for 12 hours, I was able to gently break the engine free.

Tips for a car with suspected water damage. Check air filter first. If wet, you must remove all spark plugs, reconnect battery, and turn key to move pistons so all water is pushed out of cylinders. Then change the oil and filter.

Alot of times when your draining the engine and water comes down before the oil on a flooded car,90% of the times
The engine will be in good condition.
If you could turn the engine manually just a bit with new oil every hour or two the oil will cover all the part.

I factory ordered a 2013 Dart Limited with a 6-Speed and the 1.4 Turbo. I loved the look of the car, and it had good tech. It was a hot mechanical mess from day one, though. 2 clutches, a bad turbo, a cracked block, etc. It was all under warranty, but I had no faith in the car's long-term reliability. I traded it on a 2014 Mazda3 and never looked back... except to run the VIN a year or so ago. The car had (what appeared to be) an electrical fire and burned to a crisp.
Of the Darts available, you got a high optioned SXT. The 2.0L with the 6-speed auto was the most solid combination offered. I hope that yours is salvageable. Even if it's not, it's a decent candidate for an engine replacement. You've got a fair amount of technology in there, and someone upgraded the seats to leather. If you play your cards right, you could still make some money with an engine swap. Good luck to you, and I'm looking forward to how this one ends up.
I'm also excited to see what's going on with that Mistu Outlander. Those had a pretty short run, but they were a good, solid vehicle. If you can get your hands on one, in my area, they sell pretty well. Good luck, man, and keep the videos coming!

Good content - but in terms of your next steps.... Just as the water sat underneath the engine oil in the sump, it will sit under your Marvel Oil and stop it doing its job. I suggest you invest $20 in an oil change suction pump to drain water (as here) but also for transmission and engine oil changes. I also cant see why you need put more than a couple of thimble-full of Marvel into each cylinder, just enough to make sure the piston crown is covered.

Randy I have been reading the other comments and they are right take off the belts just to make sure nothing else is seized it’s been sitting a bit with all that silt in the engine compartment the probably started to drive through a flooded road or such I have done a few well many and the most important thing is to get a very light oil in the cylinders and let it sit I have used PB Blaster with great results it will free up the rings from the cylinder wall put a thin oil in it for now so it will work its way into the bearings you want it to get into the Journal oil holes put your breaker bar and socket on the crank and rock it back and forth a hope for the best I know this comment seems very elementary but the PB blaster and filling the engine back with Engine oil does work just take your time with it hey I hope everything works out OK good luck you congratulations my new new shop

I would drop the transmission pan next!! It has water in the engine so it could be inside the transmission but those are sealed so it might be good. As far as the engine it's toast 😂 by the colors of mud and dirt rings under the hood I'd say the drove the car until it stopped so it wasn't parked when the flooding was happening also the valves might have dropped so I would pull the head and see the damage. GL and yes 1500 is a bit much for a no start but if it did run we'd all be happy.

Now you're getting some real learning experience. It's okay cuz the price is as low as you will get it.

He needs to learn how to find and read water level marks by loosing for dirt, rust, corrosion, etc. You can clearly see the water level on the front wheels and tires, its really obvious compared to other flooded cars.

It kinda looks like mostly the front end was submerged. Maybe it's OK from the doors back. The floor didn't look like it had ever had any of that muddy water in it.

....Randy, you did lift it in neutral yeah?, .. p.s an old farmers trick is a gallon of 50/50, deisel/ kerosene in the sump, soak for 24 hrs then try to turn it by hand.

Starter could be full of silt and dirt along with the alternator. I worked on a small perkins diesel that was flooded and cleaning out the starter and replacing the alternator got it going after getting the water out of the cylinders. The alternator was so packed it wouldn’t turn and was slipping the belt.

Drain engine and at and fill both with atf until it starts coming out the top . Let it soak then try turning. Couldn't hurt to try.

Don't forget to take the starter off and have it tested it's probably been sitting in water also and don't forget to tap each Piston from above to free them up in the marvel mystery oil

It will probably turn over, just needs a little time. Bought an oldsmobile when I was 21 (loooong ago) left it all week with thin oil in the cylinders and it freed up. Engine lasted 8 years till I wore it out.

Hi just bought a flooded chevy cruze, which I think they've already messed with the bcm, electronics like radio and remote doesn't work trunk lid wont open(got that figured out to open) , but it'll start on a 3rd try, my question to you should I have the transmission fluid flush? the seller said he drained all the fluid and replaced them, I'm worried water got into as far as torque converter and I just wanna make sure I can use the car for long time, tia
