      Do not let the dealer slide with a gotdamn thing. You need to go back and demand your money for the gotdamn service that probably wasn't even done. They probably didn't even know where that piece was in that footwell anyway. You make it hard for other people when you say that it's just life and stuff like that happens. F*** that. What about the person that gave their last and has to wait until next payday? This is why these fake-ass mechanics feel comfortable with overcharging people and robbing people. It's people like you that's willing to let it slide that is not doing nobody else in the community a favor. Why are you teaching people that it's okay to be taken advantage of and robbed? We want to see Justice. Go back there and demand your money back for the services that was apparently not rendered.😐😐😑😠😠😠

      The air dam is known as an active shutter to warm up the car faster and to help maintain the proper temps with minimum radiator fan operation. But your right, its probably too complex for what it does. As far as the dealership goes, their mechanics are not necessarily up on every programmable device on these cars and are not given time to learn on the clock. No excuse but...

      My logic says a diesel motor shouldn't need one and a tank of smurf pee (DEF) either to run. Yes It cut emissions but made them more un economical in some cases. Then also way more unreliable when the system has a fit for some reason, and it goes limp mode or won't run at all. They ran for years and auto trans shifted good without one to ! If you are old I'm only 45 !

    These Darts are notorious for serious DDCT issues. They were rushed to production and need work usually. Very similar issues with the Ford Focus, Fiesta and anything with the DP6 or 6F15.

      I have the 6F24 6 speed auto in my 2014 Dodge Dart as it has on occasion acted up in a minor way in reference to the transmission indicator not lighting up in the Reverse Mode while not paying attention & once in the Drive mode every position on the transmission is lit up in RED! It doesn't seem to do it anymore! Otherwise I have enjoyed my Dart quite a bit!

    I hate to say it Randy, but this is a prime example of why we don't take cars to the dealerships for any kind of work, I've been a self taught mechanic for 15 years and not once has any of our cars been to a dealer ever, liked very much your vid, full view, let them ads roll in their entirety, you should take your shop lift down to Mikes and work out something with him for using his shop , just a thought is all

    Hey Randy, that “air dam” is actually a vent that allows the engine to heat up faster in colder climates. Once the engine gets up to temperature the vents open to let the cooler air in. My 928 S4 has the same thing and I had to replace mine. Unless your living in freezing temps you don’t need it.

    Love when transmission issues are that easily fixed. My 2004 Chrysler Pacifica doesn't have a TCM, the PCM does everything. Didn't know what gear it was in when I bought it, so it had no cruise control or autostick and shifted really poorly. And the PCM is VIN coded to the vehicle, so there was no just swapping it. I had to have a used PCM custom programmed to the car before it worked right.

      Thank you brother, hey I'm sure you probably did the research but just wanted to say that when it comes to clips and harnesses you can find them way cheaper at amazon or ebay compared to the dealership. I was fixing the engine on a honda fit and air cowl on the front windshield broke all the clips which is a common thing on newer Honda's. The dealership wanted $5.75 per clip and the car needed 9 of them.....ridiculous. so I found the same ones on amazon but stronger material. Ran me $14 for 90 clips, blew me away as to how much I saved.

    I don't believe the dealership knows what they are doing Randy. I'm not a dodge guy, but honestly the BS story they gave you on the TCM would lead me to call BS on the rack and pinion issue. I'd check with another dealership or even another "senior" technician at the dealership you went to. Are you telling me that 5 years in the future if someone had to change a failed component they'd need to live with the light on the dash ? I'm calling BS.

    The dealer ships or the biggest crooks on the planted thats how they make 80percent of there money its not from car sales like most people think

    • @MasterSandman
      @MasterSandman 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Partially true!
      I've been a carsalesman at a dealership (luckily a decent one) and the first thing my collegue told me was the fact that they didn't make that much on sales (I saw the numbers, those are really small margins!). Most of what they make comes from servicing and repairs!
      Though granted, there are a lot of dealerships that will screw you over, if that will make them an extra buck!
      You need to pay attention and be careful.

    The dealer charged you for a repair but you got an education. For the prices on the belly pan and air dam it seemed worth looking on the used market for those.

    • @johnbeckham1483

      The belly pan under the engine obviously serves a purpose in the aerodynamics of the Dart as it buttons up the bottom of the engine offering protection and there are separate openings for your oil drain & oil filter replacement! The belly pan is vented as well...

      Alpha Romeo this car is actually...Like GM/Ford they are mis matched these days..
      Chevrolet Cruze is an Opel !!!
      The Chevy Equinox suv he just bought has a engine made in China and transmission in Japan unless its a 6 speed then its a Ford-GM trans !!!
      Camaro was based on the Holden platform,now changed ...just upgraded.
      Thats why Chrysler and Fiat got together,Fiat small cars Chrysler large cars ,larger suv's and trucks !
      Dodge Charger/Challenger/300 are all Chrysler..The so called Mercedes parts were rear suspension design from the 2004-2009 Mercedes,not a drop in uniy but design,made larger for those cars..As of 2015 no Mercedes parts are on the cars..They used the 5 speed trans until 2014..But today nobody has their own transmission,sure Chrysler makes the 8 speed but its a ZF design..Oddy some people think the 2005-2010 Charger/300 were on a Mercedes platform,not so..rear suspension design and seat frames and steering wheel column were all that was Mercedes...Not to emtion the numerous Mercedes that were based on Chrysler/Dodge vehicles..even their V6 is based on Chrysler's Petastar V6..
      Its all a mixed bag today..Toyota used Subaru,BMW,Mazda cars redesigned as a Toyota...Ford-VW now has an Alliance,so those will be shared platforms and vehicles..Its not 1970 anymore when GM was GM,Ford was Ford and Chrysler was Chrysler,back then you could tell what engine they had by hearing them start up ,idle or drive by..Even GM/Ford,Chrysler had their own unique starter sound,you could tell what they were by hearing them !! Today all bullcrap same starters made by the same company !
      Ford /GM 10 speeds are a joint venture..It will be funny to see Ford guys see a 10 speed Chevy truck with a blown trans and say Chevy trucks are junk because of the trans,yet their Ford has the same trans lol...The world isnt like it was,too bad !

    On the power steering rack, the one from the black car was underwater and I believe is electronic. My guess is it maybe bad (maybe not), but before you go through pulling the old one I would see if it can be tested. Maybe there is a computer module you can swap out on the rack without pulling the whole thing ??

    Fords have active shutters on the front for aerodynamics too. I'm guessing modern cars are optimized for maximum efficiency. My 2006 Azera had plastic troughs on the bottom for aerodynamics. Unfortunately, they were poorly engineered and cracked and fell down while I was driving. What a racket. Easily removed with a 10mm socket and handle, they are but a memory. Keep the videos coming Randy!

    You are freaking AWESOME! Thank you! I have a Dodge Dart and it’s having TCM and it’s connectors issues from corrosion from being flooded as well.. dealership wants $1,700 to fix.. 🥺 I’m trying to educate myself before I attempt to fix myself (yes I know it has to be programmed and I plan on a plug and play) so any advise would be great.. I disconnected the battery and waited an hour before getting TCM out witch I did the one bolt but it’s not sliding out of the bracket as easy as I thought.. maybe I’m missing a bolt??

    • @johnbeckham1483
      @johnbeckham1483 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clean the connectors with WD-40 Specialist Electrical Contact spray & make sure that you have it grounded with that front bolt per Randy's video! If the TCM isn't damaged from the flood waters most likely you can reuse the original TCM!

    Those DDCT transmissions like to be driven hard because it's technically a manual transmission. It needs to relearn as well. Drive it hard in manual or sport mode (if it has that).
    That "Air damn" is a thermostatic feature. It controls the amount of air coming into the radiator/cooler area to optimize temperature. That's why the check engine light comes on. Not aerodynamics. Big rigs use this as well. My 1930 Franklin had it, but it was an air cooled car.

    The white plastic horse shoe clip should be at most parts stores. Look at a Dorman/help/autograde multi-clip assortment package. Also your pcm may need programed to the VIN. Some shops can do that, outside of dealerships.
