    1. BYD does make ICE cars. Although they are phasing pure-gas cars out, they still offer a lot of hybrid cars.
    2. In fact the Han itself has a hybrid version, that's why there's no storage area in the engine bay. It uses a series-hybrid system, where the engine turns a generator to recharge the battery instead of driving the wheels directly.

Not going to lie, i actually appreciate some of thr features on this car. The rotating screen, the front and interior camara with cover. I even appreciate the seemingly bizare 1% increments on the sun roof, it would let you really dial in how much sun comes in which would be good if you have a child in the back or something. Assuming you would at some point be able to operate it with voice commands increments of 1-100 would give you much more precise control than increments of 10 or even "closed, half, full" which i feel would be the norm otherwise.

The exterior styling, to me, is a highlight of this car. Too many times these days a car company will try a "look at me!!" approach that just comes off as weird and garish. Sharp lines for no real reason, a front end that looks like it's been in an accident, and so on. The styling here is subtle, and I like it.

I've always thought that the stereotype of Chinese products being poor in quality is driven by their customers. If a US, and other, companies go to a Chinese manufacturer and say I want you to build this for me and I'm going to warranty it for one year, they say Yes... we can do that. If you wanted them to build something that could be warrantied for 10 years, they could probably do that as well. However, it's "blade battery" is said to be the safest in the industry, and BYD can make EVs at a lower cost than any potential competitors because it produces its own batteries, the most expensive component of an EV. Sure, some Geely owned cars are here like Polestar and Volvo, but those are Euro-spec'd cars and some may be assembled in China but to Euro specs. Lotus as well. BYD was just the initials of the phonetic symbols of its Chinese name, which also has a funny story: it is actually rather strange and totally made-up in Chinese simply because it was easier to get the trademark since many regular names had already been registered in the economic boom in Shenzhen. They never thought they would come along this far, so they had to retro-fit a more proper brand name for its overseas markets. This is how they came up with the Build Your Dreams brand name to match the acronym BYD.
Many may not remember but BYD Auto started copying 9th gen Corolla 1:1 and selling bunch to taxi fleets, that's how they stayed afloat and kept the ball rolling. The company itself started as an OEM and eventually evolved into one of the biggest lithium battery manufacturers, that's why EV makes a lot of sense to them as well, also why they are able to make 70% of the parts in house.
Fun fact, you may be able to actually ride in a BYD in the states. Some municipalities purchased a few of their EV buses for public transportation system, not sure if any of them are still in service so

They have recently started operations with dealerships in Brazil. And they should open a factory in the former Ford plant.

BYD cars literally look like they came out of GTA.
They aren't ugly or anything, but very generic.
Lots of brands do follow a generic trend, so lots of new cars tend to look similar anyway.
Tesla Model S was very "generic sedan" when they were first released, but what they have done is carry a design language throughout all the cars.

Doug is so detail oriented. When he zoomed in on the infotainment system, the clock on the car was same time in real life when I watched it… how does he do it?
