We have ignored Chinese cars for long, and hardly even saw how they got so good! When you see channels like Autogefühl reviewing them, then you know the Chinese aren't playing around! Tesla came to understand that too late

Lol, speak for yourself, a lot of us followed byd since their first gen +500hp Tang back in 2016
What impressed me the most was the safety system. This crazy car can keep driving in a straight line even if a tire blows out at a speed of 120km/h, and it can also float on the water and drive like a boat.
Imagine the died-in-river women driver, if she drives this car she would still be alive.
Super excellent suspension, three tires can drive at top speed, and can wade in water for 30 minutes, it is simply impeccable

Some Chinese cities are also flooded recently, crazy weather. There are videos U8 running in flooded street while others are trapped. Many U8 owners said since they got the car, they have been waiting for this day!!! 😂😂😂

In my humble opinion, to call it a great car is probably an understatement!
I said in my his nice car in their Shanghai showroom, and this is the nicest SUV that money can buy ! I have BMW X7 in my garage while my friend have G63 and Range Rovers ..... nothing can match U8 !
All manufacturers are learning the hard way asking Chinese companies to do your components they have taken them over the years and mastered them to another level. Amazing
BMW: We deleted all buttons and integreted every function into screens because Chinese customers love it!

Wow. It's a fabulous car 🎉. So much better than most luxury brands. Thoughtful design and ergonomics
In my humble opinion that interior has way more class than the gaudy monstrosities that Mercedes and BMW were giving us lately.
If you want to compare the luxury degree, you should choose the same price range of the car to compare the price, obviously this car is more cost-effective, the same price of SUV, did not do as luxurious as him.
To be honest, Mercedes specifically have gone bat sh*t with the ambient lighting for years now. Maybe more people like it than not but I personally find it tasteless and making the interior look even cheaper and I'm largely operated from a sense of style so I imagine someone who understands design would be having an existential crisis every time they ride a taxi in Germany 😅

#1 9:14 the car is saying “需打开麦克风使用权限，才可使用语音”, which means “you need to grand the mic permission to use the voice control feature/function”. I assume you can make changes in the settings.
#2 11:07 the button is called “云辇”, which means “emperor’s carriage in the clouds”. It’s a system to control car’s suspension.

It’s price in China is less than a third of say AMG G63. But it will obviously be more expensive in Europe due to shipping and tariffs, etc.

@@denalisiomontpellier4064 You will learn in a near future, with BYD and especially Xpeng, that Chinese brands do not do chinese cars as others international brands pay them to do badly! Chinese do respect human lives much better than others brands, they use robots to produce and clever technologies that others brands did not realized in the previous 28 years!
For a big, luxury car, you can't expect more, except it's Chinese with a BYD badge on it. BMWs would charge twice the price for less fuctions. New competitors are good for us anyway.

The car logo is an ancient Chinese oracle bone script, which represents the meaning of thunder and lightning.
The 'traditional' car manufacturers did not expect China to get here this quickly. This is easily one of the best SUVs on the planet and its 100% electric. They all have a lot of catching up to do. Can you imagine the next iteration of this car?
This is the Premium version, now the Off-Road Master Edition is available in China, from April 27th, 2024... They will do a full electric version, as soon as batteries are large enough and effective enough to deliver as much power as requested by these 4 very powerful motors... This car has a bull V2L hability, all this request technical improvements, they do not make a car to light on the border of streets as most of others Chinese car brands do! They are as serious as Xiaopeng Motors (Xpeng Motors) is, and improve technologies, better than BMW Group did in the previous years... Nw batteries will arrive soonly, till the end of this year, or in 2025... This will help making better Yangwang U8 versions... Xpeng improve their vehicles very quickly, so should do, but with them, BYD! Noone can succeed alone, BMW Groupd succeeded with Mini, Rolls-Royce, by using for a short period Land Rover and Range Rover and Rover who used MG in the past... All are linked in the global Universe... Any risk, any wasting, any damage should be spared, as Xpeng and as Yangwang try to do!
as a Chinese auto-industry engineer, the story evolved like this:
2013/14: Chinese local tier 1 started to apply automatic line to produce components by using more and more 100% visual inspection and robot/manipulator, it improved the quality a lot by only rely on TPS/6 sigma/lean system for manufacturing.
2016/17: Chinese OEMs leverage more European designer for outline and interior design, the elegance and originality of Chinese carmakers were born. (actually it really started from 2011, the regency designer Peter Horbury joined Geely, RIP Mr Horbury)
2019 just before pandemic: Chinese OEMs started to use premium material to add value-added to their carlines.
These 3 steps made Chinese EV and even combustion vehicles become so competitive in the world！

@@denalisiomontpellier4064 no offense, I was just clarify why Chinese OEM evolved from both quality and brand in recent years, no doubt the SVW JV in 1984 created the foundation of modern auto industry in China. recall this thread, the auto industry in China originated from FAW which was supported by USSR, the original carline is CA10 which was carried over from ZIS-150. that will be a long story.
@@denalisiomontpellier4064 I used to be tier 1 engineer of double E, and now I am working on my own business. my focus was inevitably limited into the engineering and product itself, that's why I even didn't discuss the industrial policy making, which includes Tesla's introduction by Shanghai government, it was significant and we called catfish effect. btw, Tesla is not JV.
Great review! Very professional and well presented, you can tell Peter did a lot of prep work before filming. Car seems amazing too. BYD sells millions of cars, this U8 being their flagship model must have all their best components and build quality. Definitely worth checking out if someone wants a large do it all luxury SUV.

I wish you can test more of its driving feature like independent suspension to go through uneven grounds and keep the car level, drive it across a lake. Remove one tire and drive on 3 wheels. Stuff like that, which you have done it.
