Will this fit in my 2015 Honda Civic EX-L? And will my side camera work?
I had an amp error on my 3 year-old 1440NEX in my 18 Sentra, and a weird bug where it would do things on its own after powering up. This unit works just as well as the 1440NEX, though it doesn't play DVD's. The screen is bigger, and I love the controls being on the bottom instead of the left side. Same great sound customizations: 13-band EQ, fader, crossovers(24db/octave) for front/rear/sub, 24db level adjustment for all 4 speakers and subwoofer, make this head unit so worth the cost! It only reads FAT32(the manual says NTFS works but it does NOT work, FAT32 is the only way) which is an old format not normally compatible with flash drives bigger than 64gb, you'll need software on PC to format bigger cards. I have a 64gb and 256gb SanDisk, and 128gb PNY: the SanDisk ones work well with the Pioneer, avoid PNY, it kept giving me errors and problems saving the database on the head unit.
Can you do a comparison with the AVH-2400NEX?
Is there anyway to change the strange static image of a radio dial (visible at 3:07)? If it wasn't incorrect it might not be soo bad, but it takes up a huge amount of screen space too.
The Pioneer DMH-1500NEX does not offer customization options to any widgets or displays.

I recently purchased a Boss Audio stereo with many of these features. After i installed it I realized the stereo wouldn't power on/off when the the key is switched off/on. I had to power it off manually each time and upon doing so the stereo actually wasn't powering off. It was going into a stand by mode which is causing my battery to discharge if the car sits for a couple of days without being driven. I have returned that stereo and am looking for another.
Will this Stereo power on/off when the key is switched on/off just as the factory Stereo does? Thanks

I'm upgrading my system entirely. Mtx terminator series mids and compnet sets and duel 12 inch subs and I want a back up camera my truck also. It has steering wheel controls i really want to get the most out of my system . How will this deck work with an audio control over drive unit to really get the proper signal to my amps and balance my system ? Is the overdrive unit nessary with this deck ? Also im thinks about adding a audio control dsp 610 to handle clarity and balance. Will a dsp interfere with the this decks smart sound ?
That AudioControl gear may not be necessary with a receiver like this one. You may want to read about its audio processing and crossover setups to see if you can meet your goals with it.

Upgrading to an aftermarket stereo will supply your speakers with more power than the stock stereo can deliver. This will help with improving your sound quality.
Depending on your speakers, however, it could be that you will benefit more by using an aftermarket amplifier for power.

What's the largest portable hard drive (to play mp3 files) that you can connect to the USB?
There is no mention of a memory size limit in the owner's manual for it; just that max power output is 1.5A and that it will read up to 1,500 folders/15,000 files. Any drive that exceeds this power need will not work and any drive with more files/folders that this will not be read past this limit
Get mine at Crutchfield, did a perfect install thanks to all the Crutchfield help. But.... Can anyone advise me on why the touch screen is so sluggish? I'm tapping dozens of times distracted for simple commands. Steering wheel controls working great
The manual does not give any trouble shooting steps to increase its screen responsiveness. We are not sure if anything can be done to help it run quicker and recommend contacting technical support to check. We give lifetime technical support on gear purchased from us and include their toll free phone number on the order invoice.
I have this installed on my Honda Civic. The stereo is good. The only con to it is the music sounds horrible when it’s on higher volume 16 and up the speakers sounds really bad. I’m not sure if mine was installed wrong or I need to mess with the audio settings

I still don't get where you can plug your usb device in the radio. Are you talking about an app or an actual usb? I don't see the usb connection anywhere in all the pictures I have seen about this product. Is the only thing is holding me to buy the product. Thanks.
The USB input is found on the back side of the radio. A USB extension cable comes included to help run that to a more easily accessible location. However, Pioneer does not make this receiver anymore and we have sold out of all the units we got. There is a replacement model, the DMH-1770NEX that works the same with in regards to the USB port and can be found here:

I got mine yesterday to replace old 7200 nex. Plugged right in, everything works BUT the audio settings, I can adjust every single setting besides audio settings. I need help
Did you purchase your Pioneer DMH-1500NEX from Crutchfield? We provide lifetime Technical Support on all orders to help troubleshoot, make sure to call with your order number handy and we can help. I would first make sure your parking brake connection is properly connected if any menus are greyed out or inaccessible. One reason is you must be on an active (something playing) audio source such as FM. Also check if Standard or Network mode was selected during initial setup which affects some selections such as crossover. Some choices might require park brake be set to access as well. I hope this helps!
will this stereo work with bluetooth + apple car play or is it cable only when using apple carplay ?
If you wish to use Apple CarPlay, you are limited to the CarPlay connection only.
CarPlay does provide you with handsfree calls, and audio streaming, just as your Bluetooth connection would, but you do have to have your iPhone connected to the receiver's rear USB port in order to access Apple CarPlay.

I am deciding between this Receiver and the Pioneer DMH-2660NEX. Is there any major advantages to either one that would make a better choice? I drive a 2000 chevy Silverado with no steering wheel controls.
The DMH-2660NEX has a capacitive touchscreen which is better resolution and easier to use. It doesn't have any physical buttons on it either and it has an HD tuner. The DMH-1500NEX has just a regular LCD screen and has a few buttons at the bottom of the screen and does not have an HD tuner. Those are the major differences. Did your vehicle come with a factory backup camera? If so, you would need a specific adapter to use with your new stereo in order retain the factory camera, (the retention of a factory backup camera is not always possible, it will depend on your vehicle, and the installation products available for the vehicle.) If you have added an aftermarket backup camera to use with the Pioneer receiver, you do need to tap into your vehicle's reverse lights, in order to signal the rearview camera to turn on while in reverse.

Camera should be easy to install but the controls is kind of harder to do i havent done it yet but you need to buy something seprate for steering wheel controls

Has backup camera but when car play is connected and playing from Apple Music and Apple map going with navigation, when I put the car in reverse, the reverse camera should auto come on every time and it doesn’t.
I have to manually turn it on.
Hi BK, congrats on your new vehicle! Sounds like you'll want to double check to make sure the reverse wire is properly connected. From there, double check your camera menu settings on the radio. Does this support lossless audio over CarPlay? I understand it’s not possible over Bluetooth but CarPlay uses WiFi so I believe it’s technically possible.
Thanks for the comment! This unit supports only wired CarPlay so there wouldn't actually be any sort of wireless streaming when utilizing the CarPlay on the screen. Will I need a kit for my 2017 Honda Accord or will fit it ?
You will likely need a dash kit for this to fit your car properly, however many of the 2017 Honda Accord's radios can't be replaced due to the electrical systems. Give us a call at 1-800-324-9695 to determine if this will work in your car and what other installation items you'll need.
I plan I installing this on my 2013 genesis coupe. My question is, if my oem microphone will connect to the stereo or will I have to run a new one?
I just installed mine last weekend on my 2012 genesis coupe and you will need a microphone
Unfortunately the OEM microphone will not be retained and you will need to use the microphone that comes with the Pioneer.

For the most part yes. Depending on the vehicle sometimes the factory microphone can retained, but almost all oem microphones have to replaced by the one that comes with the radio due to the factory wiring.
I have a 2015 Mazda 6. When adding this stereo to the cart the adapters that are offered only retain steering wheel controls. Where do I get an adapter to retain the factory backup camera?
We may have a camera retention harness for your Mazda. Does your Mazda 6 have the factory navigation and/or Bose system in it? Also what radio are you planning to purchase?
I was planning on getting either alpine ilx-w650 or pioneer dmh-1500NEX. My Mazda didn’t come with navigation or Bose system.
Unfortunately do not currently carry a camera retention harness for that vehicle. Of course the touchscreen radios allow for the addition of an aftermarket back up camera, but we don't have anything that will retain the use of the factory camera.

I still been having problems with my Music cutting off back to the Apple CarPlay Home Screen on the head unit. The head unit is brand new.
I hate to hear that is happening. If you purchased this receiver from Crutchfield, I recommend contacting our technical support on this issue. We send their direct dial number on the order invoice. If it was purchased elsewhere and they cannot help, I recommend contacting Pioneer's support using 800-421-1404 for help. I hope its a quick fix!
@@crutchfield I hooked up a different usb/aux adapter and it is still having the same problem. I am getting to learn it is an internal problem. I feel happy with the music and not fully satisfied with the head unit. Crutchfield will not allow any exchanges or returns after 60 days. Same troubleshooting and still has the same problem.

How would I use Apple CarPlay if I don’t have any adapters in my car? I just got this in my car but I’m not able to use Apple CarPlay since I can’t plug my phone in. I can only use Bluetooth which just gives me access to Spotify.
This receiver has a USB input built into the rear of it. Pioneer included a USB extension cable that some have ran to a glovebox or middle console. The iPhone must be plugged into that USB port to make CarPlay work. Now, it is possible to not use the USB extension cable in favor of using a USB cable like the one included with some mounts. Below, you will see one that can be mounted just about anywhere including some pre-existing locations. If the electronics were taken out for a power port (used to call them cigarette lighter ports) so that an empty hole in the panel is all that is left, then this USB mount could be installed there. Does this unit have waze as well?
The Pioneer DMH-1500NEX is compatible with the Waze app. Waze is not built into the unit, however if you have the Waze app downloaded on your phone the Pioneer will mirror the maps from your phone onto the screen of the radio. This is done through a wired connection from your phone to the USB on the Pioneer.
Can it play Netflix/hulu to or just youtube?
Just TH-cam videos. Those other two apps are not supported through the Weblink interface

Are you referring to the AVH-1550NEX receiver? If that is the model, there is no way to get Android Auto to work on it.
When installed, I have a problem with parasitic drain on my battery once it’s off…..how can I fix it?
It sounds like the receiver's red wire has not been connected to a wire controlled by ignition switch. We recommend contacting technical support for help locating such a wire in your vehicle. Yes, it supports Bluetooth Audio Streaming: A2DP 1.3 (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), AVRCP 1.6 (Audio/Video Remote Control Profile).

Does it work with VW Passat 2011 comfortline?
We were not able to research that vehicle to know if this can fit it and recommend checking with a local installer for help.
So the only way to connect your phone is by connecting the phone to the radio with a charging cable? It’s not by Bluetooth?
Apple carplay and Android Auto are utilized via USB connection. You can still bluetooth audio and calls to the unit without a wired connection, but you will not have the on screen interface, or navigation capabilities

I have a Holden jackaroo but it ses no Holden’s in the selection car model
The Holden jackaroo is a rebadged 199 Isuzu trooper imported to Australia by GM. An stereo that claims to fit an Isuzu trooper should fit your Holden. Just make sure your trooper has a dvd holder below the factory radio. If it has a DVD player below the radio then nothing seems to change and it all should still fit. But the only multi media system crutch field sells for a 99 trooper is a Jensen cmm710 which at the moment is $270 US. If your Holden is from before 98 then once again, nothing changes and the cmm710 should still fit. So a Jensen cmm710 should fit your Holden as well as a trooper. I’m afraid this pioneer won’t fit however.

Both will fit your car and have very similar features. , There is a small modification that has to be made for a double din radio to fit your car. Can installing this void your car warranty?

Does anyone know why the usb cable might be unresponsive? It doesn’t charge or do anything. It initially worked, but it’s now useless.
They use an extension cable to run from the USB port on the back of the radio. If that extension cable came loose from the back, then it could cause the issue you are experiencing. We recommend removing the radio and checking this!
@@crutchfield The issue is actually that the USB is turned off. How do I switch it on? It is not illuminated on the screen.

How do you connect the apple
Car play
There’s a usb plug in in the back you plug in the the cord that comes with it and then you plug your iPhone cable in the cord
You will need to connect an Apple Certified cable into the USB port that is on the back of the Pioneer DMH-1500NEX receiver, to access CarPlay.
Thought it came with the mic?
The Pioneer DMH-1500NEX does come with a Bluetooth mic included. The Pioneer CD-MC20 Auto-EQ microphone is optional and can be used to measure your car's interior acoustic characteristics and creates an auto-equalizer curve based on that information.
Want to watch videos from my android phone how do i do that
The Weblink interface gives the ability to play some videos. It can play the ones stored on the phone through the Media Player interface and from TH-cam. You need to install the Weblink Host app. The phone will need to be plugged into the receivers USB port for the interface to work. The instructions can be found in the owner's manual and we keep a copy of it on our web site found in the What's in the box section of the page:

It does not have built-in GPS, but can use Apple CarPlay or AndroidAuto to use your phones GPS.

Just so it has the compatible outputs, you can connect it for viewing The Pioneer DMH-1500NEX has dual AV inputs to connect two external audio/video sources. The head unit has a rear-panel 3.5mm minijack AV input for connecting a portable audio/video device. There is also a rear-panel composite video/stereo RCA AV input for connecting a video component.

Yes, the background can be customized by importing images from an external USB device. Other than that the color of the on-screen display can be set to red, amber, green, blue or white. The background display can be selected from 8 different preset displays for the AV Operation screen and 5 different preset displays for the Home Menu screen.

You should start by making sure you phone, and the android auto app is all up to date! after that, check your cables, and then possibly check to see if there is a firmware update for the headunit!
