    I love your videos. It makes me yearn to go back and see Guernsey again. My heart warms and swells with all the memories I have of the island and its great people. I used to play the piano for the Catholic Church on the days that our group was scheduled to play. I don’t read notes, and merely play by ears. I remember one night when I expressed my admiration to the wonderful lady who played the church organ and she kindly returned the appreciation with my style of playing. Love, love, love the place… I keep re-living my years there… Guernsey will always have a sweet spot in my heart. Keep up the good work…!

      St Sampsons actually. Born in 1860, she eventually immigrated to Michigan. I’m from California although I now live in Japan.

    Like to see your videos. Our older daughter lives on Guernsey and until recently lived on Vale Road, so I have been explained the origin of the name "the bridge". In your vid you promised to explain but unless I was dozing you didn't do so. The origin of the island/ islands is interesting so maybe an update is needed.

    Fabulous! Love the Bridge!
    That was the first place I went to in to Guernsey.
    My partner, Tom, lived above the chippy & worked for the Electric when I first met him 13 years ago.
    When I moved over we went to live in the Canichers and then to the Coutanchez but still enjoyed shopping with Toms gran on the Bridge. Especially the candy shop.. :-)
    My first Guernsey drink was in the Mariners. I had a lovely welcome - very friendly people.
    My best friends husband (Matt) works in the motor shop.
    Can`t wait to come back and visit..

    We've landed in Mariners Inn several times, ALWAYS with burning feet and very tired legs because of "oh, let's have a nice little walk in St Sampsons, Vale and maybe a look at L'Ancresse...." 🤣🤣🤣
    So you can imagine I'm really fond of that pub!!
    Years ago there was a Quayside at the Bridge which I liked. But on our last visit it was gone and only a dusty ruin left, sad...

    Hello as you approached the blue phone box I saw a gentleman on the bench who I know from a Guernsey church He knows Guernsey like the back of his hand . Also in The Bridge years ago there used to be an old book shop but I think the owners weren't making a profit so closed down. My family had a day trip to SARK Mum injured her leg and when we landed at St Peter Port we headed to Stonelakes for some Pharmicts advice and some dressings for her shin . And the shop next door to Stonelakes I went in and one of the clothes rails was in a passageway and I walked into it . I made a Sharp exit Pronto. Happy memories xx
    By the Harbour on the left side just beyond the bus stop you passed by??? A war memorial??? Do you know what is was commerating???

    • @livinginguernsey8595
      @livinginguernsey8595  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Guernsey Taxi Services
      Guernsey has a regulated, licensed taxi service based at three ranks in central St Peter Port, St Sampson (on The Bridge) and at Guernsey Airport.
      It is advisable to book Guernsey taxis whenever possible, especially when you wish to travel early in the morning or during the evening when demand is greatest. Here is a link to the taxis www.visitguernsey.com/travel/taxis/

    • @livinginguernsey8595
      @livinginguernsey8595  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, yes I just noticed That. St Sampson in brief
      The Bridge is the name by which most locals know the area of St Sampson, which sits to the north of St Peter Port. It’s easily identified on a map as the pinched neck of the island, and its second major port.
      The area got its name because the parishes to its north were previously cut off from the rest of Guernsey, and so a bridge positioned there linked the two previously discrete islands.
