My three bits of advice would be - 1. Try & make some friends that you can go out for a coffee, a meal or drink, try & get involved in some activities - this could be an exercise class, a sport, a hobby club or take part in an event - something to do on a regular basis & build a network of like minded friends. 3. Get out & explore the island, go for a walk, get out on bus ride around the island & visit some of the many events that take place all year round.

I would say a bit of advice is to accept and embrace the slower pace of life.I have visited a lot (coming back next week!) and notice little things, like people don't rush around on the streets they walk at a more sedate pace. Same with being served in shops cafe's etc. Friday afternoon is a bit of a write off if you want anything done urgently!!!! It is more like village life in the UK. Also all shop/rrestaurant etc staff are lovely and love having a little chat to you when you are in a shop etc - oh and the cinema is dead cheap! uk is at least £10 per person with rip off prices for popcorm and drnk...Guernsey cinema £4.50 or £3.50 on Wednesday and popcorn etc really cheap!

Just round the corner from our house. Lived here from the age of 6, married a local guernesiais speaking girl 41 years ago. I'll never be classed as a local but we've renovated a couple of old granite houses with respect for Island heritage. It's the only real home i've known, I've travelled the world, been fortunate enough to visit many historic sites and experience other cultures but, at the end of it all, I love returning to Guernsey. Uniquely beautiful 25 sq miles with so many stunning vistas, I'll never leave. Great video

Yes, you are very lucky to live in Guernsey. I was born in Guernsey a long long time ago (1962). Grew up and spent a lot of time there. Since 2007 sort of away. But coming back for a few days the weekend after next. You can take the boy out of the island. But you will never take the island out of the boy.

Are you fortunate living on Guernsey? Are you kidding? Have you seen the state of England and the direction it's going in these days'. You'd better believe you're fortunate. Just look at what Commiekaze Starmer is doing to us. The last lot were terrible but this mob are even worse. I follow you and your near neighbour Troj's Fishing to chill out because you're a window on a different world, how England used to be when I was a nipper, and I'd go back to it in a heartbeat. One set back that really sticks out is your healthcare service which isn't free at point of service like our beloved NHS. Troy brought that to our attention when he had a health problem. Apart from that, unless there are any other major problems we're unaware of on the mainland, you're living the dream. Never take it for granted. We're envious. Enjoy.

Fort George is a luxury housing development.

Not months. The steps have been down for 5 years, more or less. Pity they didn't use granite instead of grey bricks and railings, but there you go. Cheaper, I suppose.

Sorry but that's just like any English resort - so big and commercialised. Give me quiet, quaint Guernsey any day. I taught for a year in Jersey, can't say I was very impressed.

quiet year for tourism here in Jersey .... hopefully the Bergerac series will lift the Islands profile a bit after the Air Show fiasco .... Jersey is s*** at promoting itself .. also way to many seasonal staff from abroad sad times

What is the cost to Island hop to Jersey? Did you fly? I spent a couple of hours in St Helier donkeys years ago before boarding the little yellow Aurigny 15 minute flite,

Why go so far? 😉😉 We´ll be staying at the Cobo Bay the weekend after next. Looking forward to it. Very good food and not too expensive.
