    I started carnivore about 1 month ago. I have struggle with slow weight gain for the last 6 or 7 years. Calorie restriction, working out for 1 - 2 hours per day, etc. My knees hurt all of the time, I constantly felt like I was in a mental fog, my knuckles were stiff and hurt and my gums were receding even though I flossed everyday, brushed and used a water pick at night. My teeth actually felt loose and I was sometimes afraid to bite hard on something. I had no energy and felt depressed. That is all gone. My energy is back, I feel great, my knees , hands, shoulders and wrists no longer hurt, My weight has dropped by 20 lbs and my mental clarity is back. My gums have somehow reattached to the teeth and my teeth no longer feel loose. My GERD is gone and I sleep a full 6 hours or more per night compared to 3 or 4 per night. My snoring stopped. This is crazy. Get rid of the carbs people, they don't help you, they hurt you.

      Also eating a carnivore diet dehydrates you, you will have an electrolyte inbalance, so make sure you drink lemon water with a pinch of salt everyday, or sugar free energade/gatorade
      Indigestion is also linked to insomnia, so make sure you intake alot of fats with your carnivore diet, your fat intake must equal your protein intake, if you dont have alot of fats it can cause constipation.

      With anything it's about forming your own opinion and conclusions via your own experiance.
      Most people you meet will merely parrot information they have observed. A bit of conversing with them will expose this quickly if you ask the right questions.

    I was doing great on a Mediterranean type of diet doing intermittent fasting, eating only 4 -6 hours a day. I looked great and got down to my lowest weight since I was 25 years old. Then I bought into the Carnivore diet. I ate a very clean Carnivore diet with grass fed meat, organs, grass fed butter etc. I did my research, so know I did it right. I did this for nine months and at first everything was fine, but my health slowly declined at about the 4th month. I was told in the Carnivore groups that I was just dumping oxalates and not to give up. Fast forward to nine months in and I was totally crashed in bed and felt quite comatose. I went to see my Chinese medicine doctor. My labs showed that I my hemoglobin, iron, ferritin, vitamin C, Hormone D and adrenals were totally crashed. No vitamin C for me and my iron was simply not absorbing. Horrible muscle aches in my legs and all the electrolytes did nothing to help. Very itchy flaking skin. Kuddos to all of you that Carnivore is working, but for me it was a total disaster that I am still coming out of. An adrenal crash is very difficult to come out of and I could just kick myself for listening to all the hype when I was feeling great with what I was eating before. So beware! Carnivore is NOT the optimal diet for all of us. Honestly, I felt like it almost killed me. No thank you!!!

I slowly transitioned into carnivore and went full carnivore for 2 months (with organ supplements, nose-to-tail approach), and that helped me more than anything by far! Organic, grass-fed, pasture-raised, wild, etc. The first 2 weeks were rough (I think I was having die-off symptoms and maybe my body was adjusting to eating all that fat). After that, everything started functioning better. I'm now at 3 months and added in stone fruit a month ago, and pickles, olives. I can't describe how much better I feel. I almost didn't do the diet, but am so glad I did. Sustainable farming is good for the planet. I found that I don't spend much more because I don't need to eat as much. I don't have snack cravings.

We may end up in a situation where doing Carnivore or Keto just isn't an option. Let's just say there is a TRULY bad pandemic and we're not even allowed to go to the grocery store, or in the event of major food supply chain issues... We will be forced to eat what is most readily available, which is almost always carb heavy. We need to be prepared for that. Dave's the first person i've heard of that had an experience like that with the carnivore diet.
    For myself, sleep has never been better and I wake up feeling like a just took a power nap. I don't have that sluggish feeling, physical pain in my body or joint stiffness at all anymore. I would consider my diet before carnivore to be quiet balanced. I ate the vegetables and kept it low carb. 99% grass fed/organic food. Clean water, never a smoke or drink in my life. I was even fasting but when I went carnivore... *BAM* Quality of life got even better!

    • @kylelove927
      @kylelove927 4 ปีที่แล้ว +27

      @@stefansalvatore9244 I'm quite new to the carnivore diet. Just started Nov. 23rd 2019...
      I eat mostly beef but also eat pork, chicken, duck, eggs, beef liver, dairy such as yogurt, cream and whatever quality animal products I get my hands on. (Add salt as needed) Mixed some raw honey with my plain yogurt yesterday for the first time and it was DELICIOUS!
      I personally haven't used electrolyte supplements since I've been carnivore but my activity level is super low right cause my gym is being remodeled (eventhough I feel like superman) so I haven't worried about electrolytes but I will take them when I jump back in the gym this month. I felt a great improvement in the gym with electrolytes BEFORE I'd even heard of the carnivore diet. When it comes to coffee, I don't drink it very much. (I do enjoy coffee though.) I have loads of energy and feel like I'm ready to explode throughout the day because I can hardly contain myself from feeling better than I truly ever felt in my life. (I'm 33, 6'4" 225lbs) But coffee is (in my opinion) is a stimulant that should be used sparingly and strategically. For example: Coffee has always been like a laser beam for me. Within minutes of a few sips and I'm ready to drop off some chocolate hostages. (Take a crap) I have a strong, almost animalistic feeling that fruit is an essential part of my personal health as well and have recently added it back to my diet as a strategy for energy. Not get up and get shit done energy but as a healing force energy.
      Apparently some people eat exclusively animal products but I don't feel that's the best way for me.
      But I do not feel that vegetables are necessary for me.

      He also openly admitted he wasn't Carnivore, he was more Ketovore since he was still eating plant foods. Not to mention, he is going to be very biased as his bulletproof coffee is derived from a plant. He suggests going 30 days on both, 30 days won't cut it. You need to give it a minimum of 90 days and probably better yet, 6 months to fully adapt for some.

    I got sick two years ago after prolonged sever stress (baby going through surgeries and procedures over 5 years). It hit my digestive system so hard. I was on a very “balanced”, organic diet with clean water, active (yoga teacher), not overweight. I lost 20 lbs over 3 weeks, unable to eat with pain and many awful symptoms. Official diagnoses were gastritis, GERD, colitis, SIBO. A few other things. Terrible IBS symptoms, vertigo, dizziness, you name it. I was unable to take care of my children. So I was offered lots of pills. The only thing I could eat was chicken stock (GAPS protocol). Not bone broth, stock. For 5 months. Eventually I was able to add things in but as soon as I started “balancing” my diet again, everything came back. So I went almost fill carnivore. I am still able to have bananas. And within weeks I could tell I was healing. I will add a few fruit pieces (probably some berries), maybe some veg in the future. And no matter what anyone says, Carnivore is working for me. Oh and I can think straight again! So I’ll keep at it. You have to find what works for you.

Some days is almost totally carnivore, and other days I'll have some broccoli or cauliflower with my meal to get some fiber. For years I've suffered from chronic depression, and the last few years have been full of bad anxiety. I started eating right last year in march and my depression and anxiety almost went completely away. I had to take a couple of months away from the diet because of a bad financial point in my small business and had to rely on eating from my emergency food stockpile, which is very carb heavy. I immediately started regaining weight, and within the first few weeks, the depression and anxiety started coming back in a big way. By the beginning of this year, I was able to get back on the diet and have lost 3/4 of the weight I gained, and the depression and anxiety are gone again. It's incredible what simply eating right can do to us physically AND mentally.

Right now I have a mixed diet and have been leaning toward a carnivore diet because I believe that it can help clear up some issues that I have but regardless; there is very little that everyone can agree on. The body is so complex and research can be so conflicting but at the end of the day I think that if you feel good and can objectively measure improvements your on a good path. I enjoyed the interview as I do most of your interviews, except when Dave takes liberties that he shouldn't and aren't necessary. He states, with authority, as he often does, that a diet consisting of greater than 20% animal fat increases your risk for cancer and cardiovascular disease. Where the hell is getting that from? If he has any real science to back that up, please share. And I'm not talking about cohort or case controlled studies. When he does stuff like that, and he often does, he taints the whole interview which does contain some valid and useful information.

      It is true that diet based in animal fats create an increased risk in cardiovascular disease and cancer. I am not sure sure exact study he may have found but here's an example of a study that shows how dairy fat/ animal fat have a higher risk of CVD than vegetable fats.
      "In models in which we estimated the effects of exchanging different fat sources, the replacement of 5% of energy intake from dairy fat with equivalent energy intake from polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) or vegetable fat was associated with 24% (RR: 0.76; 95% CI: 0.71, 0.81) and 10% (RR: 0.90; 95% CI: 0.87, 0.93) lower risk of CVD, respectively, whereas the 5% energy intake substitution of other animal fat with dairy fat was associated with 6% increased CVD risk (RR: 1.06; 95% CI: 1.02, 1.09)."

    This is a great interview but only convinces me ever more that we are all built differently - that perhaps blood types matter. I can easily go all day on a large black coffee and eat a normal meal between 6 and 8pm with wine or non alcohol beer. So a 22 hour fasting period. I never feel weak or dizzy or hungry. I can do 3 to 4 day fasts quite easily and have done a 30 day fast on water only - but the last week was awful due to the mouth taste - so I stopped at 30 days as I did not want to swallow my saliva. I am now almost 61 and vegetarian over vegan as I do eat occasional eggs and occasional cheese - mostly salads, beans, nuts and potatoes and lots of raw foods...love Avocados. Health wise at 61 - I have a zero CAL scan and no arthritis or other issues, no blood pressure issues. So I am sorry we are all different and you can only try what works for you - there is no Vegan trap its your body type and your type at a certain age - you need to change as you get older. You cannot let food take over - you should not eat all day its bad for you - your body needs a rest to help your mitochondria. Best of health to all reading - a healthy fearless mind is the most important. We all die, once you accept that you can get on with living. Best Di.

      Out of curiosity Stewart Llyod, what type of climate do you live in? It is -24 C outside and I sure do not crave a vegan diet. For me fats are important as well as warm or hot meals. ( not all the time of course) We have ample time to experience the cold. One can even sweat outside when active. Cross country skiing for example, start out a bit cold then warm up to sweating. Just afterwards can become cold due to the damp undergarments.
      I DO believe that water fasting is very helpful. Many do so for spiritual reasons which I also do. I also do a Daniel diet which is vegan - it goes along with the water fasts as the fasting can last an entire month. I do NOT find doing so easy. Personally, I am not into longevity, but into excellent health and vitality as long as I am alive and on this planet.
      We are created to love God, others, and ourselves and to live in a way that helps others as well our natural environment.

      The climate here in Queensland Australia is hot outside almost the entire year, we live in air conditioning. I was born in UK so enjoy the cold. I too love a hot meal likely because of growing up in UK and the cold miserable weather - a hot meal was a pleasure.
      The Daniel diet is a good diet and it’s in the good book for that reason. As my post began we are all different and that can be due to location (which country are you?) due to body and blood types and due to age - we need different foods, different amounts etc We need to find what works to get optimal health at each stage if life - sounds like you are doing just that David. I agree with carnivores and vegans they are just missing the main point, I now always think from our ancestors view point, We mostly ate one food type at a time in massive amounts of that animal, plant and fungi ect.. and then starved for a while when trying to find the next food location or failed hunts along with fasted exersise and going to sleep when the sun sets. Its all about supporting our little army of biochemists that have been passed from our distant ancestors that is tuned to the cycle of feast and famine and all these microbes taking there turn to feed seperatly giving our cells mass doses of the benificial compounds that they produce when fed.
    So bottom line in my view is veg and meat on a plate at the same time is not ideal, go for one or the other and for prolonged periods so they dont interrupt each others production. Cycling must be the key.
    Obviously wholefoods with one or two ingedients.

    I‘ve done Carnivore for 2.5 months. Psoriasis essentially improved; I have no doubts it’s going to disappear in the near future. I lost 10 pounds even though loosing weight was none of my goals at all. Energy level and mental clarity - amazing!
    Only one thing on the negative side: my beloved cake had to be banned from my menu.

      @@jonnydoe85 He does? I get why people aren't liking Dave .... because he's not offering a lot of science, but Bart Kay isn't either. It's more of a pwnage video than it is informative. Bart gives zero science or logic... he just makes strawmen out of Dave's POV and then knocks them down.

      What in the actual fuck? Dave is a salesman. I agree with that. Still:
      Every carnivore diet advocate: "Where are the guys like: Shawn Baker and Layne Norton". You all say specifically them, specifically the same thing. It's a cult, arisen from a joke. Shawn Baker is wrong. He doesn't know anything about this. He's an MD with no nutritional credentials that admits that he "believes in the diet" without scientific backing because it "works for him." That's it. HIS OWN anecdotes and websites of HIS and others making claims. That's it. There is ZERO legitimate science backing up. Elimination diets involve cutting out things and then reintroducing them to see what caused the issue. Carnivores diets will in the long-term put people are risk for heart disease and kidney damage!

    • @utuebmakeustupid
      @utuebmakeustupid 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DontKillFriends A CAC scan sorts that out. People on carnivore get their blood vessel plaque stopped and reduced, carnivore is better for heart health. Ancel Keys was wrong. No kidney damage either, there's nothing in the literature that shows meat is bad for kidney function, feel free to check.

    • @DontKillFriends

      @@utuebmakeustupid I HAVE checked the literature! The Carnivore diet is one of the least justified diets scientifically speaking. All that scan shows is that he hasnt YET developed some other problems associated with it. Stop saying "literature" snd "science" when you dont know anything about either. The science fully debunks your religious practice.

    12:00 I love his speech on mitochondria. They have their own DNA. Mitochondria are at root of aging. When mitrochondria make enough energy, its used for human (not microchondiral) nuclear repair. Most ppl have mitochondrial deficiency. Use VO2 mask to measure o2 consumption.
    22:00 Cold showers part is dope. Mouse study showed that 3 days of brief cold exposure levels of cardiolipin in mitrochondrial membrane which affects making electrons. After 3 days you can handle the cold better. It makes the mitrochonria more thermomgenic? This replaces the mitrochondria that cannot tolerate heat.

    • @swanee9414
      @swanee9414 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cold exposure builds up your brown (and beige) fat...yes, those are real. Since those fats are "uncoupled" they give off excess heat (burn more energy than necessary for basic cellular metabolism), and therefore keep you warm(er) in the cold. Infants have a lot of brown fat as compared to adults. Check out Ben Bikman (professor BYU) for more...author of Why We Get Sick.

    Glad to hear nutrition talk that makes sense. Both vegan and carnivore are religions; they both ignore anthropological evidence regarding our natural, ancestral feeding. What evidence we have seems to indicate that we have historically oscillated between mostly carnivore at the extreme cold time during glaciations, to mostly herbivore at the extreme hot time between glaciations; but always remaining omnivore. Which is not to say that whatever we ate ancestrally is necessarily the best way to eat; but it is important to at least have the right view on that, for a baseline. Of course, technology and science should allow us to improve our diet, such as by consuming 10 grams of vitamin C per day, which is almost impossible to achieve by eating citrus fruits; it would take hundreds of them; but the benefits of vitamin C seem to grow linearly with amount consumed up to about 20 grams per day. We are now able to produce supplements synthetically that would be very costly for nature to synthesize, such as vitamin D, magnesium malate and magnesium glycinate. We are also able to consume a single amino-acid in quantities of a gram (or two, or three) on an empty stomach, for special effects, which we were never able to do before. We can isolate C8 from MCT oil, which gets metabolized into ketones unconditionally. There are gazillions of things we can do today that we were never able to do during our pre-history. But we also have toxic foods, toxic additives, toxic nutritional religions, toxic government agencies manipulated by toxic drug and food industrial interests, and toxic medicine bureaucracies again manipulated to mislead the public and maximize drug cartel profits. And we have an ultra-toxic intellectual laziness and defeatism in popular culture.

    I did vegan exactly like you say. Started cutting out salt etc. I just want a balanced diet. I think it’s is funny that dogs, cats etc. We all need a specialized diet. I’m 73. Healthy yet…..started from veg to adding meat and more salt. Occasionally eat sour dough bread. I still eat yogurt. Adding hard cheeses now. I have low density bones. They said severe, but I do not feel any pain. I still drink smoothies with turmeric, maca, spirilina, BRewers yeast, beet powder with almond milk. I might throw in a banana and blue berrys. I wonder sometimes if I am hurting myself with juices, fruit, chocolates . Thank you for having this information brought you us. Personally, I do not have enough resources to begin to find a food specialist for me. 🙏🎈
