Meanwhile I decided to make sure that when that appt comes, I DON'T have those numbers. I did exactly what you've mentioned. I went gluten-free, and follow a modified Wahl's protocol and Myers protocol books. I've lost 12 pounds. I still eat nightshades on occasion. BTW all joint pain ceased two days stopping gluten. As far as Sauerkraut goes, never buy it from a shelf - always buy it for in a cooler and make sure it says NOT/NON Pasteurized as if Pasteurized the Fermentation is now literally dead
@@bloochoob Been making iy for a long time and yes is very easy. Beware though as U fermented a jar of asparagus once and it turned into mush. Now only hard veggies used. 🤣
This is my first introduction to Dave Asprey. I thoroughly enjoyed this conversation. The conversation was very interesting, and I learned a lot! Lots of food for thought! Thank you so much to both of you for taking the time to share this information with all of us. Love from Vermont
WARNING: Asprey IS A SCAM ARTIST. Hard to believe people fall for this. He never sites any research. Nothing he says has any validity or evidence. Buyer beware, he is selling supplements with no evidence, and franchises. snake oil salesman
It's also discouraging to know that one cannot afford the "good" food - grassfed/finished meats, organic pastured eggs, organic vegetables, "B" protein dairy products.
Exercise science and nutrition are the 2 fields of science where I've found a large amount of disagreement amongst "experts". All we can do is listen to them and trust our own judgement do things like bloodwork, gut microbiome and glucose checks to see if our diet is right for us.
Yes, it is frustrating. There is a test that can be done by Viome. It’s an at-home test that helps in determining what foods are benefiting our gut microbiome and what foods are not. The goal is to avoid the recommended non-beneficial foods for 6 months, re-test and then see what foods you maybe able to re-introduce into your daily diet.🎉
Spinach is so high in oxalic acid that even if you boil it and discard the water, and add cheese or other types of dairy it will still be sky high in oxalates. You gotta bring oxalate expert Sally K Norton, you will absolutely be amazed
@@TiMalice2009 It's not just spinach. Oxalates, phylates, lectins, etc., poison most vegetables. The residue from farming pesticides is nothing compared to the naturally-occurring carcinogens in plants.
Fascinating interview. Was very interesting. I live on a rural farm where one of the largest crops are canola. When the flowers from canola bloom, those flowers are toxic and smell terrible . You can't go near those plants or you will get a rash. I wonder how a plant so toxic, becomes a staple in our diet and is in everything. Lots to chew on with this interview and change how we think about food and exercise. Thanks
@Maya Eyal your weight loses when your body is functional in an optimal state where there's no metabolic dysfunction. When you get enough essential vitamins and minerals while cutting out the stuff like physical acid. You'll lose weight much faster and easier.
This was really helpful for me because lately my allergies went worse and started feeling sleepy after eating. And I didn't think about plants like Spinach might be reacting in negative way
In my grocery store, there is a tiny beyond meat section where the beef is and a lot of times. It’s 50% off. The section is not growing. It’s actually shrinking.
Right! After those tests declared the only difference between plant-based "meat" and dog food was the PBM had added artificial coloring and flavor, more people started running away from it all.
I agree with this. I have run 120+ mile weeks for the past two months and haven’t lost any weight than when I was running 70-80 mile weeks while keeping calories the same.
I've seen a number of women, especially and a few men, who had hip replacements. They ran for years. They didn't have osteoporosis, either. It doesn't seem natural to run so much, imo. I don't think life was meant to be so hard!
@@jaynefranzinoromero5877 I guess it depends on the person. I have talked to plenty of older marathoners that haven’t had problems. In particular, one guy in his 70s that has run over 300 marathons and perfectly healthy. When I train, most of my running is in zone 2. I’m rarely sore and I fully recovered from running my last marathon (ran 2:42) within two days and was back to my regular routine.
I’m doing sprints every other day :). I still need to get my high mileage done, won’t do well running a 100 mile race without a lot of zone 2 running in training.
Interesting, but i have so many questions. I just don’t know what to believe anymore. For decades we’ve thought we finally figured it out until something new comes out to debunk it which always happens. People from the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s are the product of the people who survived the Great Depression, they couldn’t afford to eat meat, they ate veggies & potatoes. They walked more because not everyone had a vehicle, so many lived to a very old age. My father was born in 1934 into a poor family & has been studied by Doctors because he is so healthy, has never been hospitalized, rarely gets a cold & if he does it’s so mild. I remember as a kid he was always active, running, walking, and playing volleyball. But ate everything he wanted and has never been overweight. I asked him how he does it. He said when he was young he asked a Doctor who was at a gathering what he could do to stay healthy and that doctor said: “Never go to extremes on anything in life, moderation is everything”. He never forgot that. He eats everything he wants but in small portions. He also said to never allow anything to affect you so much emotionally, especially anger & stress, that is very important because it affects your health. He is now 88 & has a 78yr old girlfriend who is just as healthy and active, when they eat out they share a meal. My uncles were not as healthy, one was the angry one who already passed away and the other overeats, and has never been active so he deals with health issues, but my grandma lived to 106 and was very healthy and stayed active her entire life. I remember her walking up a mountain like nothing at the age of 70 while the grandkids were on the ground because we couldn’t do it without taking a break.
By the way, as a carnivore And telling this story, I see I’ve been doing things wrong. My family says I’m just as healthy as Dad because I was always active and tried to eat healthy but when I stopped is when I gained weight & started having gut issues. I started overeating junk food so I’m just trying to lose some weight & heal my gut but I hate eating meat all day. I just don’t see carnivore being long term for me.
@@LBC13 Being carnivore doesn't mean you have to eat meat only all day. It is just as much about not eating foods that are truly bad for you. I never eat fish and hardly ever eat meat. I do eat organic only and use grass=fed butter, eggs, and some cheese. I use whipped cream in my organic coffee that my son-in-law roasts . My dinner is a hugh salad with an avocado and cheese sprinkled on top. I love it! I am 70 and it has taken me a long time to figure out what works for me. I also make a spiralina green drink with collagen along with some liquid trace minerals. I also take the "DAKE" minerals that Dave talks about. My goal is to live to at least 100 and be healthy.
" People from the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s are the product of the people who survived the Great Depression, they couldn’t afford to eat meat, they ate veggies & potatoes." This isn't true at all. SOME people may have eaten less meat for a few years during the Great Depression, but in general they ate more beef, eggs, etc. in the 50s-70s than people eat now. Studies show we eat less saturated fat than people did in the 70s and before yet practically every health outcome is worse.
I stopped working out for hours at a time and now i do 2 sprint workouts a week, each workout includes 6, 30 second all out sprints takes ten minutes or less. And 2, 30 minute high intensity full body weight trainings twice a week. 1 hour and 20 minutes a week And am making great health gains and still putting on muscle. The rest of the week i just walk 10-15,000 steps a day, i walk everywhere i can, take the stairs not the elevator, walk a few blocks to the store or post office, not drive. Easy, Win, win ! Im an X vegetarian now animal based foods diet the last 4 years, that to was a life saving change !
So…. DAVE I just got the eBook a minute ago but I was wondering if there is a version to get healthy without the 80 supplements you take that I CANNOT afford ?
Wow! This certainly rings true for me. I have also gone to extremes with diet (and stress). And came to his conclusion about the reality of the incentives inherent in our FDA. I never put together the combination of minerals AND right fats together. I’m sooo excited to try this. And the red light and the store glasses...I haven’t been able to be in certain stores for more than 15 minutes without feeling ??? I knew it was the lights and their effect on electromagnetic energy (I think) but his explanation and solution.... On and on - so much believable and actionable info!!! Yeah! I’m sick of feeling like I’m going downhill (only 55 but used to spinning circles around people in terms of productivity. I was beginning to think maybe I just used up my energy early and to bad so sad. Thanks for renewed hope!
I'm a loooong term vegan (that is not changing) but was puzzled years ago when a vegan MD said that although most of my blood work was great, my zinc level was a little low and told me to supplement zinc. Well, I have always taken a decent amount of zinc, but did increase it at the time. I have always wondered, "Where is all the zinc I'm eating and taking going?!" Dave just explained it regarding phytic acid as I do eat a lot of nut/seed butters and usually, grains, which back then were all whole grains. I have recently switched to white rice for a couple of reasons, but it sounds like I should follow my Irish ancestry and use more potatoes instead of any grains.
Woohoo me too! 14yrs vegan and vegetarian for years before that. Luckily my zinc is ok but I have been eating cooled potatoes and white rice on occasion so maybe that's why! Thanks for sharing!
I had exactly the same attitude to animal protein and grains as you do, and after just several months of a low carb diet(got rid of all grains in my diet)with high levels of animal protein I got rheumatoid arthritis for the first time in my life, I was just 29 yo! Only a strict vegan diet saved me, there’s no pain anymore (I eat raw spinach and kale btw as well)),after the first 6 months of a 100% vegan diet I had a blood test for all the vitamins and minerals that they had available at the lab. All of them were perfect, including protein, iron, zink, vitamin D, B vitamins, etc., according to you that would not be possible. You can tell me zillions of times meat is amazing but I know every time I eat organic eggs, meat, dairy I have pain in my joints again
I feel diets are very individual and should be tailored!! I am a vegan and brought up vegetarian, Eating just meat and surviving is NOT an option for me anyway!!!!!
I’ve heard the negative effects from veganism take years to accrue. Lots of vegans report feeling fantastic for the first few years. But 5-10 years down the line people start experiencing issues. But since we have diverse backgrounds, sometimes separated by tens of thousands of years of evolution. It’s very possible different diets track better with our ancestral environments.
@@druelleb9620 good for you! Hopefully it keeps working for you! My sister went vegan and had the standard great feeling for a long time. But she started having health issues so went to omnivore. But super picky about the meat. Mostly just fish because of feels. But she’s in much better health now. Like I said above I think a lot depends on your dna. If I descended from 100% Inuits, pretty sure I’d do really well on a carnivore diet
I love Dr. Perlmutter and Dave! I've just got 2 words: Paul and Ringo. Anyone been to a Macca concert lately? 80 years old, plays for 3 hours, doesn't even stop for a sip of water. Ringo, too... 82 years old. They must be doing something right. #veganpower #friendsnotfood
I have Ehlers-Danlos, MCAS, and rosacea. I take a diamine oxidase supplement to control histamine response and it's really given me my life back. I was at the point where I was reacting to sunlight (hives), and it's been such a relief to find.
i’m always amazed by the pussyfooting with grains. …sourdough’s a new 1. but it is also a processing. if the baseline is: processed foods r nfg 4 us. well, we stay away from maple syrup, that is processed, n grains: we can’t eat grains raw, like birds. n after we’v put them through a flour mill, guess what? processd. when the subject of grains comes up, nobody ever says why they don’t work 4 us. n i’m surprised there are no fowl on David’s farm. ccordin 2 my prejudices: farms have barnyard fowl. if there were some on his farm, he shoud know that birds have gizzards: an organ in their digestive system that, along with ingested gravel, mills tough stuff like grains. we don’t have gizzards - unless they’r cookd, along w hearts, the best eating of fowl, 4 me. …n i’m unsure if bovines are equiped to process grains in their specializd system. now, what about seeds? same scenario??? thank u 4 the super video....w no background noise ("music") ...from above the crowd people living seemingly meaningful lives
Non processed is ideal but some things, minimally processed is ok. It's things over processed with chemicals and preservative that you want to stay away from.
Omg thank God. This is the only way I can work out and I thought I was doing it WRONG! Haha! I only started getting back into working out and this is the only way I can stomach exercise. I'm in WEEK ONE and Ive already had comments on my physique. I look like I've been working out for a month.
What exactly is this work out that he’s talking about that you’re doing that you’re getting such great results he never really responded on. That just said he looks fantastic. And he can get his work done. And you know five minutes today or within five minutes and I don’t know it was confusing to me.
@@user-dn1pj3db2k if you must know, its sprinting. Im not 100% sure if that is the exercise dave aspery is talking about but its the most ancient and primal exercise for a human. I unknowingly decided to juice green and boy, I experienced vulvar discomfort…it took me months for a light bulb to go off in my head and run to the computer…sure enough, oxalates came up…I thought I was “helping” my body-the discomfort was awful….good to see it come up in this conversation to spare many others!
@lisaculver1829.When you juice veggies you are removing the fiber and only ingesting the plant sugars. I went on a long fresh veggie juice fast and my triglycerides shot up and overall cholesterol stayed the same. My doctor said I traded fat for sugar and it reflected in my blood work. Excess sugar from juicing causes vaginosis excess bacteria. I’m surprised you didn’t get uti’s and yeast infections too. It is better to do smoothies where you get the whole plant but still watch the calories and carb limits.
In my opinion it’s all engineered by mind set. Mind controls matter. Fat is matter. So the reason weight loss is effortless for some is that they’ve LET GO it isn’t an issue. People who struggle do so because the frequency they hold around weight loss is struggle
You wouldn’t have to take any supplements if you eat the proper human diet. I haven’t taken any supplements except for MSM for my joints for 10 months. I’m not week. I’m not pale. I’m not frail. I have energy and I feel amazing. I am very blessed that I can get everything I need from beef and eggs.
@@cyndimanka I'm agreeing with you. I couldn't be a vegetarian. Grains kill me. Keto is what works for my diet. But sometimes I wish I could go carnivore.
I do all of this; HIIT, CAR.O.L, ARX, slow, near-daily walking, mostly keto diet, massively cut back on alcohol til its practically nonexistent, higher-protein diet - still have some mild overweightness and find it hard to drop it.
Have you tried intermittent fasting? Have you tried looking at the foods you're eating? There are some keto foods that are not working for everyone. Some are highly processed and cause inflammation and cause you to hold on to weight to protect your organs.
Exercise nitrates do not replace nitrates gained from green leafy vegetables. Get the ALA's and nitrates from diet before looking at factors like exercise.
As usual, Dave Asprey is wonderfully full of knowledge and the more i listen to him the more sense he makes, as with Dave Perlmutter. Both these icons of natural health are a beacon of light to follow. When i can afford them i must try these blue light glasses. It seems looking at the website you need a pair for daytime and a pair for night time and by the time i ship them to the UK it's not going to be cheap :-(. The other interesting fact was, if i heard correctly, he takes 80 supplements a day!!! WOW
I survived an aggressive cancer by going plant based, it saved my life. Review the China study, it’s intense research and practical application was impressive. I had a relative, told she was dying, reverse heart disease by going plant based with zero oils, she’s still alive 32 years later. Some animal proteins have their benefits but too much has damaging effects on arteries, and other major organs. Eat a well balanced diet with a lot of whole foods like vegetables.
Go away. Plant based diet destroyed my whole skeletal structure. Doing a little healing plant based fast is one thing but being a survivor of plant based upbringing with fully damaged skeletal structure head to toe is another matter. Go away with this gibberish.
So how do you retain or build muscle or strength after 65? Does the 5 second isometric contaction work still? What about core, glute and leg and foot muscles?
“Regular Person” here - thanks, guys! The more I employ these strategies, the less suffering I experience. Prioritizing $tuff is most helpful -almost no one I interact with do these things!
I agree with much of what he says from my own research over the last 10+ years. I am just one for simplified approaches and not purchasing a lot of those items. (I do take a set of supplements that I believe help including A D E & K) gotta work on my hormetic stress and breath work.
Maybe we should all just listen to the bod. I mean, my belly reacts to different chilis and curries with voracity. When I have spicy food, with ginger, masala and garlic, those energy levels shoot up and I sleep well. The Vegan Trap was mentioned, and maybe an issue in health in general is, that humans don't know what healthy feels like. Things like poor sleep and processed diet is the norm, and many consider the need for huge amounts of coffee to be normal, among other recent dietary trends. 🤷♀
This guy can sell you anything, cars, food, eyeglasses with yellow lenses etc., He just comes up with a lot of nonsense nobody understands, people get curious, and yessss another book sold!
That’s insinuating everyone watching and listening is stupid no one can sell me anything but I do know blue blocker glasses do work I sleep much better
I had what the doctor's called allergic rhinitis and since i have memory my nose was blocked and my mum had to give my nose drops so i could sleep. I grew up with some sort of nose drops on my nightstand. 6 years ago i started keto within 3 months i stopped the drops that i had used for 45 years! Later i evolved to carnivore or only animal products after a while i ate a tomato slice and my blocked nose showed up immediately!!!!! What is it? Inflammation? Oxalates? Pesticides? Idk but now i stear away from veggies as if they're something dangerous. At least i feel they're harmful to me....
I want to find the nuggets of wisdom here ... after listening, I am asking *what CAN we eat* that won't be a grain and/ or high phytic / histamine/ oxalate / lectin / nightshade food?
Nuts give me a lower G.I. cramps so bad. Once in a while, I’ll eat some very very tiny amount and I am so miserable the next day I say to myself why did I do that? It’s been this way for years and years I cannot eat nuts.
Have you tried soaking them first? Take some walnuts and soak them in water for at least 12 hours, up to 20 hours (just careful not to let them rot), and see how you feel
So no change in weight but stronger. Doesn’t this indicate muscle gain? Also doesn’t this mean healthier? Body weight is not the only measure for health
What’s the gene SNP for nightshade issues? (And this was over much too soon, I could have kept listening esp about blue light! Thank you Dave Perlmutter (have been following your blog since before you were famous), thank you Dave Asprey as I need all the things! ❤
Can you address the increased longevity of folks in Blue Zones, including vegetarian Lima Linda, California? I love Asprey’s books, but this is one sticky point for me. Thanks.

It’s extremely frustrating to be told that the foods many experts recommend are unhealthy. It’s discouraging not knowing what to eat.
It's also discouraging to know that one cannot afford the "good" food - grassfed/finished meats, organic pastured eggs, organic vegetables, "B" protein dairy products.
go vegan
Animal foods and fermented foods. Dont listen to mainstream. They are getting it dead wrong
Just dont eat spinach
@@TiMalice2009 It's not just spinach.
Oxalates, phylates, lectins, etc., poison most vegetables. The residue from farming pesticides is nothing compared to the naturally-occurring carcinogens in plants.
Dave Asprey is a life saver.
Thanks
Where do you live? Europe?
So true - once I went more carnivore my mental health improved significantly. Thanks for the wonderful interview.
How's your APO-B?
As always, Asprey is cutting edge. He changed my life five years ago! Outstanding interview!!!

This was really helpful for me because lately my allergies went worse and started feeling sleepy after eating. And I didn't think about plants like Spinach might be reacting in negative way
This happened to be as well-did an elimination diet and found out many foods were causing me allergic responses.
Love Dave Asprey, straight shooter, No BS!
Beyond meat is poison. People recognized that.
Sprint. Not jog. Sprint. Dr Sean Omara. Sprint.
" People from the 50’s, 60’s, & 70’s are the product of the people who survived the Great Depression, they couldn’t afford to eat meat, they ate veggies & potatoes."
This isn't true at all.

I just got the eBook a minute ago but I was wondering if there is a version to get healthy without the 80 supplements you take that I CANNOT afford ?
Wow! I've watched a lot of interviews with Dave and I can't believe how different he looks. He's clearly "walking the walk" now.

I never put together the combination of minerals AND right fats together. I’m sooo excited to try this. And the red light and the store glasses...I haven’t been able to be in certain stores for more than 15 minutes without feeling ??? Thank you David and Dave! Your content totally resonates with me. DAsprey, you look better than ever!
It just shows how different our bodies are from one another. Glad you found the secret to your health.
I’ve heard the negative effects from veganism take years to accrue. Lots of vegans report feeling fantastic for the first few years. But 5-10 years down the line people start experiencing issues.
But since we have diverse backgrounds, sometimes separated by tens of thousands of years of evolution. It’s very possible different diets track better with our ancestral environments.

i’m always amazed by the pussyfooting with grains.

Been there, done that. I was so miserable and unhealthy. It's a keto life for me.
Go away. Plant based diet destroyed my whole skeletal structure. Doing a little healing plant based fast is one thing but being a survivor of plant based upbringing with fully damaged skeletal structure head to toe is another matter. Go away with this gibberish.
