I do a no meats(poultry, and sea food too) and minimal drinks of all types. Water to drink whenever. I do allow my body to "cheat" and eat whatever, but i go through a feedback loop from body to mind for about a week give or take to find out what im hungry for and not just craving. Hope that helps some people out.

As a post menopausal woman trying to lose weight through Intermittent Fasting, working out doing HIIT, cardio, etc.....I have learned so much from his research on women. I was over training, hair thinning, hair loss, cold all of the time, not losing weight or inches. All I did was stop working out intensely, started doing yoga, stopped fasting 20/4 most days of the week, and my body started changing, and still is. I have not weighed myself because it messes with my mind horribly. Havent measured myself because it's all numbers. I feel better, my clothes are fitting better, my hair is no longer falling out. It's been mind blowing. I listened to another interview about a month ago and I am finally seeing results. What he days works. I dont use bulletproof coffee but I sometimes add butter to my coffee. It helps on my 24hr fasts. I do a 24hr fast once a week. I cant do any longer or my sleep gets really messed up.

Yvette Bennett.. I am post menopausal and been fasting 20/4, or 23/1… then also doing 48 hr with a 72 hr a week or two at a time.. My results have been 0 weight lose and even gaining a lb or 2 of fat.. I follow a Carnivore 98 to 99 % of time..! No inches lost and no lbs lost.. done this for two months following 2 very successful months of Ribeyes only with a 12 lb of fat loss and 7.5 “ lost and maintained even to date. I don’t bother w/ a lb or 2 in fluctuation if my diet, sleep and moderate exercise is consistent.
I think I need to reduce strict fasting and eat 2 meals 3 days a week and IT 2 days and do one 24 hr fast a week. Sed how this. helps body balance and start releasing fat… Presently my body is holding on tightly to fat … Your note as well as this great informative interview with both guest and interviewer was so helpful!! Thank you all… 😁👍

One 'trick' that helped me when I first tried fasting was doing a mental reframing. When I saw food somewhere, instead of feeling, "That looks good I want to eat it," I reframed it into something like, "That pizza (or whatever) is just another object like a pencil, or car tire, or chair, etc." That reframing allowed me to not have to use willpower to resist. Nobody has to use willpower to resist eating a car tire.

Amazjng video so far and I'm only 30 minutes in!
Big takeaways from first ⅓ of video:
    1. Eat an early dinner, don't snack after that.
    2. Have coffee or bulletproof coffee in the morning to activate ketones
    3. Wait until lunch for your first meal and you've already achieved a 16 hour fast.
    4. Coffee details: straight black coffee is acceptable as it will activate ketones while giving energy; coffee with 1 tsp butter or MCT oil is better. Adding insoluble fiber like acacia fiber to that mixture is optimal as it will feed the good bacteria in the gut and also help you feel full.
Blend the coffee with butter / oil; doing this processes the water molecules in such a way that they can be utilized by the body immediately vs. having to convert them.
If the coffee you're having is making you angry or jittery or hungry, chances are it is a moldy batch as clean coffee doesn't give these side effects. There are no regulations in the US for acceptable mold levels in coffee beans. Switch coffee brands.
    5. Women should fast 3-4 times per week and have breakfast other days to avoid negative impacts to their menstrual cycle.*
    6. Cellular flexibility is the goal; occasional breakfasts are good so the mitochondria don't lose the ability to run off carbs. This will avoid plateaus as the body likes variety.
    7. Having the fat first thing in morning trains the cells that they are safe to start burning fat all the time.
*edit: this is where I messed up fasting personally, as I was all or nothing, hit a wall and started having negative side effects. I had written-off fasting as not for me - until now!

But the interesting thing you learn is that it's really not hunger you are feeling, it's craving and them two things are different. Hunger sets in when your body is deficient and it has no more energy to burn. Craving is just that and it becomes pretty easy to ignore.
I still get cravings, my mouth will water and my stomach will growl sometimes but I know the difference between hunger and craving. After about a week I got really used to it. 3 months in and it isn't hard at all anymore

    • @cph4314
      @cph4314 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@hicksa1 lemon-salt water is to keep sodium levels where they should be and it helps balance ph, I dissolve 4-5g in a litre of water -depends on weight tho - and drink throughout fasting periods (pink Himalayan rock salt is better than normal table salt), green tea is shown to have positive effects on fasting and they think can even boost ketosis, it's also a fat burner and no calories so doesn't break a fast, and then obviously normal water to stay hydrated, also if you down a cup of water if you're feeling hungry then it'll subside, which it will anyway as it's just ghrelin telling your body you you'd usually be eating but it will stop after 10 mins or so . When water fasting 2-3 litres is typically recommended, don't slack or you'll feel crap at points which defeats the point

I'm back on OMAD now but looking forward to the next extended fast . I lost a some too incidentally but this is overshadowed by the sense of finally having control.

What happened to Dave Asprey? This guy isn’t even a shadow of him just a few years ago and no, ageing has nothing to do with it. Go look at pictures of him a few years back. Could it be his “superfood” coffee? Coffee is NOT a superfood and is definitely not good for you. Never believe people that promote their own products. Believe half the things he said on this video. Go compare with other videos of fasting where nothing is promoted. And yes, dry fasting for 24 hrs is more powerful than drinking any liquid during a fast. I hate when they say “no scientific evidence” at their convenience. You just have to try it yourself and see. You need NO product to succeed with fasting. At least the most common fasting . Just do it smart. P.S. How come I have never seen a picture of him 300lbs as he often states? Hmmm. Look up Jason Fung and Mindy Pelz they have a lot of logical and tested facts on fasting.

The medical industrial complex's failure to properly research and diagnose and treat microbiome and sleep and vital nutritional deficiency issues (including those related to Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 and Magnesium deficiencies as well as iatrogenic prescription medication usage) is a major reason why psychiatric iatrogenesis is a primary contributor to the third leading cause of death in the U.S. (which is iatrogenesis in general). If the U.S. spent just a fraction of the over $40 billion each year it spends just on iatrogenic psychiatric drugs alone, for properly researching the issues discussed in this and related TH-cam presentations we would probably, Lord willing, achieve an absolute revolution in medical efficacy improvement and iatrogenesis reduction.

I fast 3 times a week from everything except water for 36 hours. The days I eat are the days I'm sluggish and tired. @@JesseChappus 2 minutes in you are talking about when you do true fasting you can't function for a day and that fasting comes with resting. You talk about your brain not being able to function. In my experience and I have fasted a lot over the years. Anywhere from 1 day to 5 days. I normally fast 3 times a week for 36 hours - no food and often no water. I just finished a 5 day fast with nothing but water. And I have a busy life, raising a grandchild, taking care of my husband who has stage 4 cancer, taking care of my multiple pets, working 50 to 60 hours a week, take Karate, etc. My fasting days where I eat absolutely nothing are the best days in my week. I have more energy, I'm not lethargic and I feel great. I can't run because I have a bad knee but I cut four minutes off walking my mile for Karate on day 5 of my 5 day fast. I don't get why you have to trick your body to get it to do what God designed it to do. Fasting is so simple and has amazing health benefits. Our bodies were never designed to eat 3 times a day. If it was possible I'd stop eating all together as fasting days are the best days.

Intermitten fasting is absolutely great. I tried it and have no problems. I dont even consider it fasting because I eat a lot 2 times a day. My cravings stopped in a couple of days, but many other problems are gone. So, people if you want to lose your wait and improve your health then start with 14 hours brake and then go to 16. After a while I switched to 18. Dont include sugar and flour. Later you will learn how to bake with oats and apples or bananas now and then. Dont forget to drink green tea, coffee and water. Sweet fruits also better to avoid.

I just finished 100 hours water fasting, and overall conclusion is that I feel better when not eating...and best motivation, beside weightloss, is Autophagy and feeling of "cleaning" your whole system...

So we have coffee with cinnamon and 1 tbsp coconut cream on a fast. Does that really trigger autophogy? I work out during my fast estate and then when I eat I start off with healthy form of fats such as quarter of an avocado and then an hour later I have healthy foods and eat my 1500 calories but I just would like to know there's a lot of conflicting information is it coffee with just MCT oil or can we use coconut cream ?
