      Love your videos. Not much content about pet fish in the veteran world compared to other animals. Your videos are greatly appreciated. It's nice to understand the procedures. Of all the fish I've kept goldfish have had the most problems and fancy varieties are the least healthy. I wish there were more robust genetic stock. They are wonderful fish but the health problems of even the common I raise makes taking care of them a challenge. I have a common goldfish with a growth on his mouth and have been wondering about what to do if it began to impair his life. It's nice to see a similar surgery.

      Hello, I'm glad you're back! Could you show more microscopic diagnoses with parasites and bacteria that are less common than flukes, ich, etc.? Additional resources for identifying the more rare conditions would be greatly appreciated! I'd also love to see more with smaller fish which can be difficult (e.g. obtaining and examining samples from small common fish like bettas and tetras).

Nothing worked, so I removed the air with a syringe. It worked for a day or 2 then he was upside down again. I repeated this 2 more times with the same results. What can I do to help him?

He has 1 large bubble and a few small smaller externally please could you advise treatment to reduce the pressure and support him, Currently he is in quarantine with no filter and an air stone I was treating with 1/8 teaspoon Epsom salts and anti internal parasite every day moving him to an exact match tank. Now using fresh water ensuring no micro bubbles, water 20 degrees Celsius, any advice much appreciated. Thank you so much.

    I cut my orandas wen back a few months ago and he did fine. He now has a swim bladder problem. Although I have removed air and separated him due to stress. I also have been giving him antibiotics and a salt bath approx every other day for about a week. Will he ever swim upright again? Or am I being inhumane keeping him alive? He stays upside down 100% of the time. He is trying to swim more though.

    • @thefishdoctor8746
      @thefishdoctor8746  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There are a number of factors that could be the cause of hypobuoyancy which relate to genetic abnormality, disease of gut and/or the swim bladder, aspirating too much air. I'm unable to make a definitive diagnosis or make a serious decision such as euthanasia without a consultation / seeing the fish in person. I encourage you to consult with your local fish veterinarian. In the meantime, increasing the specific gravity of the water by adding 5g/L of salt (sodium chloride) can help him become a little more buoyant.

      Hi Luiz, the powder is derived from a plant compound and turns into a slippery sticky gel upon contact with, and absorbs, the liquid. I use it to increase retention of medicines at the sites needed, and with the prolonged time of having antibiotics or antiseptics concentrated at the wound site, it'll give our patients the best chances for healing. @@Andreas-gh6is Well, that does look like a lower quality Oranda. You’re right the spine is pretty deformed. But most Orandas actually live very comfortable lives with caretakers that know what they’re doing. The biggest downside to that breed is the when constantly growing and needing to be trimmed once in a while. The initial culling of small fry is meant to take care of the deformed ones.

      @Andreas-gh6is 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @@nickolasshearer6836 They are all deformed. It's just that some are so deformed you can't even pretend they're healthy. If you're culling a large fraction of the fry just for lack of "basic fishy functions", that's a clue. You don't need to do that in any other fish species I know of. Even when they have high mortality (mostly for other reasons), you don't need to help it along, and a line that produces that many defects usually has to be discontinued.
