I was just born as this song was coming out but its still one of my favorite songs. And the girl in white is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen
Right back to high school. Lying on the beach, the sun's warmth, the smell of suntan lotion, this song on someone's transister radio, gentle sound of waves, girls walking by, kids playing along the shoreline, a plane in the air, pulling an advertisement for Crazy Eddie's electronic stores. Life was good on that day.
I was born in 76. Now 48 years old. This was popular when my mom and dad were coming along. I'm nowhere near their age but I love listening to the oldies because that's what I grew up hearing! My mom has now been gone almost 10 years. Miss you and us listening and singing!
This song is great! The group is great! Music like this makes me feel happy. They sound so much like the 5th Dimention when doing this song. Also, a big shout out to Ed Sullivan.
This was the very first album I ever bought just for myself. I was only 13. I would go on to get every album they made. What I wouldn’t give to have to have all my old albums now. It’s hard to believe this group only lasted five years. By 1974 the ride was pretty much over. But what a ride.
To Tee Arr Bee: Really? Do you think? today's teens? I'd hope and pray they could relate to this type of soul music sound. ---------------- I feel as if the youth have their culture purposely backfiring upon the good that was bestowed upon the communities of erstwhile.
Ed Sullivan show, black and white tv! I remember watching this , even the BEATLES! Born in the 50s ,raised 60s, educated 70s, retired 2016! Enjoy remembering those good old days! Peace and Aloha from Hawaii
The more I listen to 60's groups and solo singers, I realize how hip my mom was. I was born in the 60's and my parents had a massive record collection. Music was always present in my home growing up with my 2 sisters. My mom was super hip and had a lot of 60's music in her record library. Vinyl records.... she was more hip and stylish than my dad.. unfortunately she became a Covid victim in 2021.. I miss her dearly every day but I know she's with God now. This song by Friends of Distinction along with tons of Motown songs were part of what was heard in my home growing up. I remember as a small child watching some of the Ed Sullivan shows that had the pop singers of the 60's. I sometimes get misty-eyed watching this because it reminds me of my mom😢.
That could be a good wish, but I submit that while the Friends of Distinction represent among the best of everyone during those times, the country was being ripped apart- the politics of race, of war and anti-war, of the haves and have nots and just plain nastiness going on at every turn, and some of us were back in south east asia for our second or third time. A lot of blood was being shed there And here. My God... just goes to show that what goes around comes around, be at least we have cds of these and others and TH-cam. All ain't lost... YET.
Good Lord what a wonderful musical era that was! In the decade of the 1960's, the music world was in a beautiful cosmic trance that can never be duplicated.
Ppl can say what they want about how you’re “living in the past” just because you are touched by such a song….1. It’s Human Nature 2. I was around during these times. I notice many ppl are affected in the same way as I am. Can’t be a mere coincidence. Art imitates Life and these tunes have a very positive, uplifting, feel to them.
I can remember getting ready for high school and playing this song on the radio. The '60's were so cool! This song makes you feel so good! There hasn't been a generation of music like the '60's since then. People wrote music you could dance to and sing. The lyrics were fun and sometimes dreamy!
Alright, dude. Relax. This is an awesome performance, but don’t go and put every artist out there trying to make music down just because you got your nostalgia glasses on too tight.
Just because you cannot find it, does not mean it is not out there. Many artists that sign to a record deal may not release music to your and my liking, but I would hazard a guess that there are thousands of artists out there making the kind of music we like right this very minute. Just dig deeper than what is fed to the public.
@Terry Hawk just within the last decade artists like Babyface, Mary J Blige, En Vogue and Toni Braxton (just some examples) continue to put out music. Current artists like H.E.R., Nicole Bus, Robert Glasper, Jazmine Sullivan and The Internet put out quality music. Just because you prefer the older music doesn't mean the current music isn't good.
@Terry Hawk of the artists I listed, the cussing is minimal and the degradation of women is zero. Keep to your lies and fantasies though. I guess they help you sleep at night.
I remember when this song came out. I believe it was 1968. I was 6 years old then. We had what was called a 45 record of Grazing in the Grass. Some of the kids in the neighborhood and I were in the backyard dancing to it playing on the radio just having fun. These old songs sure do take me back to a time when there was good music and talented artists. Not like this junk the young generation calls music these days.

Yeah.
I love how specific this is
We had no idea how great we had it.
U must be a writer, SOUNDS so good!!!.
That's a movie!!.
When music was music and entertainers were entertainers...
Okay, okay I will answer you already. Yes, I can dig it. I dig it now in 2024 just as I did in summer of 1969 at 11 years old.
I was born in 76. Now 48 years old. This was popular when my mom and dad were coming along. I'm nowhere near their age but I love listening to the oldies because that's what I grew up hearing! My mom has now been gone almost 10 years. Miss you and us listening and singing!
I was born in 74 and growing up my parents played these records too
Such a great song!
I have always loved this song, and this performance is sheer joy. From back in the days when music actually made you feel GOOD.
I totally agree!
@@vw1649 ME TOO !!!!!
This song is great! The group is great! Music like this makes me feel happy. They sound so much like the 5th Dimention when doing this song. Also, a big shout out to Ed Sullivan.
The one in the white dress was GORGEOUS!!!!
Agree
The late Jessica Cleaves
damn she is really a stunner
@@kevingoins9858 I was wondering which one she was! Thanks for clarifying.
Jennifer Hudson
WOW I REMEMBER THAT SONG BUT NEVER SAW THEM PERFORM. GREAT SONG AND STAGE PRESENCE.
Happy people singing a happy song. This is why I love music. It makes me feel good. x
Family Guy didn't bring me here.. I was 18 when they performed on Magic Ed's show.. how I miss those days.
The great Jessica Cleaves! Channeling her inner Josephine Baker in this performance.Continue to rest in musical greatness🌺🙏🏼🌺
1970 my auntie played this song a lot, I was 5 years old lololol I remember this song very well
If they played this song today on a teen pop station, it would be a hit once more. Once I play this song for anyone, it stays with them permanently.
Truth Indeed
This was the very first album I ever bought just for myself. I was only 13. I would go on to get every album they made. What I wouldn’t give to have to have all my old albums now. It’s hard to believe this group only lasted five years. By 1974 the ride was pretty much over. But what a ride.
Well said.
To Tee Arr Bee: Really? Do you think? today's teens? I'd hope and pray they could relate to this type of soul music sound. ---------------- I feel as if the youth have their culture purposely backfiring upon the good that was bestowed upon the communities of erstwhile.
Song has always been fire.
Ed Sullivan show, black and white tv! I remember watching this , even the BEATLES! Born in the 50s ,raised 60s, educated 70s, retired 2016! Enjoy remembering those good old days! Peace and Aloha from Hawaii
This song and "Do The Tighten Up" were my absolute favorites!
Archie Bell and the Drells😎. Bar-bee-que 💯

This is Music, that we all miss.
❤
This actually sounds like a live performance. It's GREAT!!!!
Music had changed for the worse. I always loved this song. Grew up on this music
Man they killed it 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Everything was so beautiful you can feel it.
Thank you Ed for showing me this group.
You have had to be alive during this time
When we just appreciated good
Music
This song works no matter which "grass" they are referring to.
I can DIG IT !
The perfect summertime picnic song grazing in the grass by the legendary friends of Distinction
Always really liked this song.
One of my favorite songs all time, at 65 years old. ❤❤
Why couldn’t I been born in this time, I would’ve had so much fun! The music, the styles, the art….a wonderous time because of us people’s❤
YET.
Keep it going...your never to old I'm 73 😁
This was my damn jam. I can dig it u can dig it
An absolutely *INCREDIBLE* song.
*THANK YOU!*
oh, let me get in on that
@@Llawliet998where they go?
Good Lord what a wonderful musical era that was! In the decade of the 1960's, the music world was in a beautiful cosmic trance that can never be duplicated.
The sun beaming down between the leaves 🍃 wooooooo!
And the bir-ir-ir-irds dartin' in and out of the trees 🕊
Omg !! I Born 1971 😂😂Love This Damn Music 🎵 😁😁❤️❤️❤️🫶🏽Can You Dig It Baby!! Real Bands And Music!! !
When music was music
Thank GOD for youtube to see this
Beautiful Barbara and enchanting Jessica tearing up that stage on Sunday night.
I can play this over and over and it's just beautiful every time.
I love this original version of this great and I also love the instrumental version of it by Hugh Masakela. Dynamite
I became a professional musician, and I love to sing and play songs that take people back to the great times in their lives~
Great classic
I can remember getting ready for high school and playing this song on the radio. The '60's were so cool! This song makes you feel so good! There hasn't been a generation of music like the '60's since then. People wrote music you could dance to and sing. The lyrics were fun and sometimes dreamy!
I was 4years old when this song came out this is when music was good
i love the energy of that woman in purple!!!
This video is infectious. Love how they are enjoying themselves.
Eactly.
December 1970. I was 2 yrs old. What a wonderful time it was for a child during that time. The rest of adult world was in War and Protest.
Thanks for the live video... Love it!
This Classic is in a class all by itself for breezy , feel good songs !
Nobody today even has 1/10th this kind of talent.
Right on!
Thank God I lived all these times of beautiful songs.
Fort Bragg NC, basic training, very Hot, the song and weather, songs, em clubs, helped me feel a little better. Drill sergeants tried to kill us with running and drills🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wow
