+3x3Custom - Tamar not to rain on you para is but If It hasn't broke yet then it will the reason a pro board stays together cause it's thin sheets pressed together with thousand of pounds of force and plywood is not the best Canadian maple is the best but carbon fiber is the best for a board oh and cheap things are even worse I have had those bearing melt in my wheel so this is my rant I'm so sorry stuf like this can get me mad because I've seen cheap boards hospitalize people

luke downhill did you not hear the part where she says it's for her 6 year old daughter? It's just a simple board for her daughter to play around on. I'm sure if it was for a full sized serious skater it wouldn't work but for it's intended purpose it's perfect.

Looks great the clear grip was a nice touch. For a longboard you want to use layered sheets rather than strips with the grain from each running perpendicular to each other to help with tensile strength. My board is 7/8" thick and I've found Canadian Maple to be the best. Hope this helps

Welcome to the club; no one goes straight with a jigsaw. Dull blades were my biggest problem, so toss them when they start acting up. Also, you looked to be pushing to the right to stay on the line. That bows the blade and angles the cut. Only push forward and steer the saw body along the line instead. Go slow; if you feel like you are pushing hard, slow a little. Let it cut.
Love your channel, your work, and your spirit. I've gone back and watched them all. Keep them coming.

  • @feudiable

Really cool project, I love the colour of the woods! Suggestion for a next one: You could try to make a slightly concave one by gluing multiple layers of thin wood together into a "template" that you can make from e.g. those foam insulation sheets. That also lets you adjust the amount of flex you'll get. Just make sure you have enough clamps :)

Such a cool project! I recently discovered a better way to do shapes like this then with the jig saw.
I like to cut a shape out of plywood, clean it up, make sure it works for what I want, then tape it to my hardwood blank, and use a router with a bushing to cut out my final piece.
All in all it takes about as much time, I've got a reusable plywood jig, and the finally product doesn't have any chipout or jigsaw marks

Awesome! Turned out great! I've never been a fan of the clear grip tape because it isn't really that clear. I've started mixing an anti-skid paint additive (I use Tread Tex or you could even just use sand) with the varnish, and it makes for a super grippy, and way more clear top to your skateboard. Maybe something to try for the next one!

Whaaaaaaat,,,,, no rolling pin! Even I have a rolling pin, that I ONLY use for making pepperoni rolls haha!! I know what your next project can be...🤔😉. You did a GREAT job on the Long Board, my friend. And made the kids very happy!!! VERY NICE!!! Take care, Jay.

@@3x3CustomTamar perhaps you cut it half and bored it out because the kids needed pencil holders for their desks? 😆

When my son got into skate boards I decided to make my own skate board from scrap 3/4" plywood and made a intermediate length board. Found a old yard sale skate board and used the trucks from it and bought new bearings and wheels. It was a fun project and we had much fun skating along in a large parking lot when no one was around. I only wish there was an easier way to stop the thing other than turning away (sometimes there isn't a way to turn around and we just run off the road into the grass and bail out! LOL As for design, I would test the wood out by placing blocks under it and bouncing my / your weight on it to see if it is strong enough. My design flexes but will not break with my 190 lbs of weight. If it was a true long board it may not be strong enough. Oh and we ended up getting the skate board pocket tool so that adjustments were easily made to wheels.

Didn’t think you could build a decent board but after watching and and seeing that it wasn’t going to be bombing hills with a 200 lb rider I think you did a terrific job and the finished product looks great 👍🏽

this made me so happy to watch, as a long boarder and skateboarder myself i remember making a longboard with my dad a few years back :) also just to let you know, not all longboard trucks are meant to be in reverse, the ones you used are but some are not :)

I like the lil doves tail u put into ur stencil ,good work. I find when gripping boards if u just get a file u can actually just file the griptape down to the plastic and the cut it or just completely file it off i see kids now scoring then cutting the grip but if u just completely file it off it gets a really nice finish that actually adheres to the board better. It does take a bit of elbow grease to do but its just how we and i used to always do it .

Thicknesses can vary greatly in longboards depending on their intended use. I have some as thin as 1/4"(street cruiser), and others as thick as 1" (down hill deck). You did a great job on the thickness, and the board as a whole!
Protip with grip tape. You can use a file to clean the edges of the grip tape (just not one that you like) after cutting.
