thanks! from the first feel, the resin one was the sturdiest:) but that may also be a con instead of a pro. We will see, I ask my friend to abuse them without regrets:D
Jake Truong just texted the guy who owns it. He sad apart from the weight aspect (it’s a bit heavier than regular plywood board) everything is more or less fine. Just a grip could be better. But I made another version of these with crushed glass grip. That worked really well. I made a video making balance boards with same grip.
I have plywood templates hanging on my workshop wall. But those won't help you much:D the shape is very simple and easily replicable though (starts from 5:09). I made all three lengths (80cm 90cm and 100cm) in one paper template by folding the straight part of the longboard shape.
I've been fascinated by the idea of making boards with epoxy resin, but I have a question. Does resin crack when you drill through it? Are there preparations for that? Or what
I love your work, do you need a specific type of wood and how thick should it be, and what is the best set of hardware (wheels plus). I want to make one for my son.
Thanks!!! Well, I made these without any technical knowledge about longboards. But half a year passed and still no complaints. Anyhow, I made the boards about 18mm thick. Used only hardwood and removed any potential cracking points like knots or crotches. Used d4 glue (for wet conditions). I used polyurethane lacquer to finish them. My friend provided me some wheels with all necessary hardware. I know nothing about this stuff, so I will not comment on this topic. But you can easily buy full wheel sets online. Good luck with your build!!!
Hi there! Those were somewhere between 18 to 20mm in thickness. And they are still in one piece. One note though, that grip surface is needed. But I solved grip problem in later versions. You can check my video about making a balance board with crashed glass grip
I am queries with the weight of each of them. I heard solid wood-made skateboards would be too heavy for skating. Would mixing resin with hard wood help to make the board lighter?
They all are on a heavy side. But it’s perfectly fine for longboards. If you are looking for skateboard for doing tricks, then this approach isn’t ideal
ahhh i love this type of video! so relaxing and makes me wish i had a workshop so i could do all these cool projects too. i guess i’ll just have to make do with your videos for now. greetings from Italy, friend :)
The swinging router jig for the curve decorations was brilliant. An "ah-ha" moment for me. Thank you, awesome craftsmanship
You are very welcome!! thanks for watching;))
Beautiful design, transitions on curves between epoxy and wood are relay sweet!
Thanks, I was choosing wood with that in mind;)
Nice boards and nice workshop! I would love to be able to do my own boards! The epoxy one is such a cutie. New follower here from Mexico :)
Thanks you!! You don’t need much to make a DIY version of it. Jigsaw, sander, and a screwdriver. Thanks all you need to make one.
Awesome!
The one made with resin is E P I C !
Thanks!!!
Sensacional!👏👏👏
Beautiful designs. I'd love to know how the resin performs, I'll have to keep an eye out 😉

hello, incredible work. what do you pass under the boards to fix them on the base before the resin? is it some kind of silicone?
Thanks for watching!! Yup, that's just a regular silicone.
congratulations, do you have a template for these models? what are the dimensions of each one?

Nice job! Greetings from Texas!!
thank you!!!

Epoxy more brittle in comparison with wood, but there no problem drilling it.

Real man
Hey, thanks for the video, I didn't hear the info, how thick are the boards? And how they are working after some time?

@@Chiselsplay thank you, you are doing a great job. I managed to do a penny board for my son using your tips
Heeyee lovee your work
Could please guide how to make resin longboard at home ?
Id Love to help, but I don’t really know what tools and skills you have at your disposal.
I am queries with the weight of each of them. I heard solid wood-made skateboards would be too heavy for skating. Would mixing resin with hard wood help to make the board lighter?

thank you!! I am absolutely grateful to be able to come to my cave (workshop) at these times. Best of luck to you!!
it was butter beautiful to use a pit v grove
Thanks;)))
Great job, how did make sure the truck holes were symmetrical?
Thanks! I just marked the holes using bottom rubber pad which has all the holes marked
@@Chiselsplay thanks for your reply. I meant to ask how you made sure the rubber pad was correctly positioned on the board
Perfect !! F.kin art ! Winch size board ?
I guess you’re asking about the lengths of the boards. So it’s 80 cm 90cm 100cm
@@Chiselsplay yes man. i asked him. Well, can you tell me the width of the 80cm one?
@@suleymanserbest6233 the width is 22-23cm. And the thickness is about 18mm
@@Chiselsplay
I appreciate you man!
very cool )
G
what are the dimensions of the boards?
There are three sizes 80cm, 90cm and 100cm. They are roughly the same width of 22cm. thicknesses are 18-20mm
Ik this video was made a while ago but how much resin did you use?
If I remember correctly I used a bit over 2 L.
Nice job, it’s a shame you didn’t have a tap, you could have run one through the black nuts it might have made it easier.
thanks!! yeah, it was hard to source anything during that time.
