    Hi Friend, mucho gracias for this very interesting videos.. Only one question, the quantity of the filament shown is clearely not enough to print the object at the end. How do you do to make longer filament ? do stick the cut bottles before the extruder or you stick the filament after and how. Thanks a lot in advance.

    Hello from Greece, you really made a great effort to apply the whole construction. and we all thank you for your effort.
    First of all, I would like a small detail, the distance of the pipe inside the spool, so that it fits properly in the whole construction. because you already have it prefabricated with acrylic as shown in the video. thanks again.

    Can you possibly provide us with a cross-sectional cut photo of the plastic, after extrusion?
    I see a lot of these videos but somewhat doubt the results.
    It seems like it is more likely to just be bending the "flat string of bottle" into a "C" shape, with a gap still in the middle

    • @mr3dp
      @mr3dp  3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      You mentioned an interesting point, yes it is true because in this process the tape inside the extruder turns into a tube, which if you have reduced the width of the tape, it becomes U, we will talk more about it in the next video.

    • @jafinch78
      @jafinch78 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Keep in mind when printing as noted in the other videos comments and/or description... the thickness and width cut of the strips in relation to the size of the filament. Also, when printing mr3dprint noted he used a 1.5mm g-code setting when printing to accommodate for the air present. Wondering optimal settings itemized in a list again will be good info for users. I think the main optimization setting is when printing to not set your filament to 1.75mm and to a smaller size diameter.

    Neat to see the filament made with and without the heated bottle prep methods. I've seen some shrink the bottle and like you do pressurize than heat. So can make shrunk (thicker plastic), as-found and pressurized heated (thinner plastic) PET strips. Neat! Wondering if you've just heated to shrink the uneven shape bottles and have a preference?

    nice , i have one suggestion , how about attaching heating element to the bottle cutting blade , as the blade heatup it will cut the bottle easily , then filling bottle with air and rolling and heating it on stove step maybe can be skipped.

    Wonderfull project. I wanted to make something similar time ago, but I hit with the problem to convert a band into a cilinder. My idea was an all-in-one machine from prepared bottle to printed object, including cutter, cutted band to cilinder and filament to extruder print. Do you think it will posible? Could the extruder of hotend printer (with some help) pull the filament thought all the process? Thanks a lot.

      Its a good idea, but I think that filament retraction in final printing may be a problem. We need to thing about a mechanism to keep tension constant at the flat-to-round extruder while allowing the round-to-print extruder to make its normal retraction.

    I might have a solution for the flat strips turning into c shape after being extruded. But its not my idea. Its a combo of your idea and someone elses i saw on YT. And he did not use the PET bottle for printing. Look at what he does to the 5l bottle. If you make the strips height less and get a thicker strip of more square shape rather than flat, it will extrude to round and not c shape. It might be harder to pull the strip though the cutter though.

    • @mr3dp
      @mr3dp  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You said an interesting point, when you increase the thickness of the tape, the possibility of the tape getting stuck in the nozzle increases.

    the filament created inside is empty; on the slicer settings do you increase the flow?

    • @mr3dp
      @mr3dp  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The produced filaments are the same in terms of diameter, but they differ in terms of density, and this also depends on the thickness of the tape produced from the bottle. In any case, if the density is low, you can change it in the software settings and instead of 1. Change 75 to 1.5 or 1.6, this was not a problem for me
