i have the corolla cross with 2.0 engine. i use extreme driving style to get 5.0L/100km, which is 47 MPG. i never go over 100km/h, seldom let the engine go over 2500rpm when accelerating and hyper mill when ever possible. so l smile when i see the gas pump, and its a different kind of fun to squeeze for MPG.
This is IMHO a great move in the right direction but the hybrid drivetrain still comes at a steep premium of about $5000 by my figuring. Assuming your driving is heavily oriented toward city driving (75% city/25% highway) I figure at 15k miles per year and $3/gal you will still take a bit over 7 years for breakeven.
Smartest company here, doubling down on Hybrids because of how many more vehicles they can make...oh yeah, that people actually want and need, what a concept🤔👍❗️
TH-cam unsubsribed me.. Might mention this in your videos?! You arent the only channel this has happened either. Some, multiple times. Great video as usual Matt!
Thanks for letting me know about this! I hear this about once a month now from someone sadly. It really sucks and I dunno why it happens but thanks for not forgetting about the channel!
Toyota needs to add the power steering that they put in the SE and XSE sedan that was from the Apex trim, without it the steering is too light. I drove a 2023 Toyota Corolla SE hybrid sedan with this power steering and to me Toyota is doing its customers a disservice by not putting it in all Corolla sedans and Corolla Cross models. Toyota please add a spare tire and a rear center armrest to all trim levels of the Corolla Cross. Nobody wants a fix a flat kit.
The Corolla Cross has 2 inches less in total front/rear legroom compared to the Corolla sedan. The Corolla Cross only has 0.30" more front headroom than the Corolla. The Corolla Cross scored worse in the NHTSA crash test driver and passenger side scoring 4/5 for both sides vs 5/5 for both sides on the Corolla sedan. Cross also scored worse in the IIHS passenger side small overlap test, getting an acceptable score for the Structure and safety cage while the Corolla got a Good score for same test. Cross got acceptable headlights in the lower trim vs Good for all trims on the Corolla sedan. The Cross is about 50% more likely to flip over than the Corolla sedan due to it's bigger overall height to accomadate the 26 cubic feet of cargo space you may not even need. So you're essentially paying about $4-$5K more than a Corolla sedan for less legroom, less safer vehicle, less than half an inch more headroom, 8 less combined mpg and 13 more cuft of cargo space.
@@MattMaranMotoring I have a 2015 Rav4 Invincible, and if you think that MPG is impressive then be further impressed. If I drive at 55 miles per hour I get up to 60MPG with ease. Yes I had a witness in the car.
an incredible week of content!
Thanks Steve, I’m glad you’ve enjoyed it!
shoutout to matt for travelling the country to bring us content
Pretty decent little crossover, perspective buyers like my sister will really appreciate the more fun color options also. Great review Matt
Thanks Jack!
I like that color, bring back cool colors!
Why no heated steering wheel?
Another great video review … Thanks!
Thanks Ted!
I really like that color. It looks good on that car.
I wish they would offer the LE or XLE with the hybrid as well. I much prefer the front end on those trims.
This might be the only Toyota with the S trim.
It used to exist on the Corolla 2 gens ago
My mom was looking at this car in the ICE version. Looks like a nice vehicle.
Great car resale value should be super strong
What is the diffrrence between the Corolla Cross and the Rav4? They seem very similar
I cover the sizing differences in my first Corolla Cross video but the RAV4 is a little bigger and roomier and more powerful.
Just got a rav4 hybrid, wish I would have waited, save the money and slightly better MPG
Great review, decent little car.
Thanks for watching!
Just passing through to deliver this... 👍🏽
Thanks!

They failed to develop competitive BEVs, so they have to push hybrids for now
What is your impression of the JBL sound system?...and vs the Harmon Kardon in the Crosstrek?
I’m sad there was no acceleration run
There was! 9:54
Other videos that have 0 to 60 report it comes in around 7.4 sec. The fastest was at 6.9 seconds. Most reviewers are blown away by the speed.
I love it when they release new wagons. Cool car!!

And a better front armrest would be nice too.
So short and kind of pushed back.
One year on and I can't recall really seeing any of these on the road?
Why MY23 fuel consumption is getting less? MY20-22 we can get 50MPG in Asia
3:37 No spare?
I think there was one under there but I’m not 100% sure.
There's no spare, it's a big block of foam with the orange high voltage disconnect underneath.

Isn't the new Kia Niro a subcompact hybrid SUV, albeit without AWD (that actually gets considerably better mileage and tech)?
Something like this kind of calls into question the value of the Hornet. Glad to see competition in this category really heating up!
Yeah it all comes down to a buyer’s priorities, the Hornet has 100 more hp but this has way better fuel economy.
"Variety is the spice of life," or something like that
all I want is for it to be in stock and the dealers not to gouge me.
Too much to ask right? what a time we live in.
Toyota Auburn, CA no mark ups 🤟🏼
Prius over Cross
perfect size
The bezel on that infotainment screen is so thick you can put stickers on it. I wouldn't want that in 2023.
Yeah, it looks absolutely terrible.
People demand a physical volume and power dial, so that's what happens.
U gonna make me buy this one over my Dark Horse...😢
Carlsbad.. san diego local here
I get over 42MPG with my Petrol (gas to you) Rav 4. I thought Hybrids were meant to be more economical? I don't see the point of this car.
Wow that's impressive. I'm not sure what version you have but no RAV4 is rated that highly here.

probably a tiny engine 😂
Many many factors are related to economy.
Not bad color
If I’m going top trim and paying top dollar I want full softex seats not that cloth insert bs
Toyota's best vehicle
toyota should include ear plugs as standard equipment especially for highway driving
Hmm, you didn't mention that consumers can't actually buy this car. C ya in 2025
They're building 15,000 of them this year...
Very smart of Toyota to make a car strictly for women.
Better resell value 🤔
