He went back to the crime scene most likely because he realized that he left the sheath behind. He was desperate to find a way to retrieve it, but being already later in the morning, there was probably more traffic and human activity in the area, and he wasn't sure if the victims were already discovered or not. So, he decided to not risk being found in the house by other people or even the police and just left. He must've been terrified by the thought of leaving such a big piece of evidence behind. But sometimes, karma strikes back really fast! RIP bozo!

My thoughts exactly. When I saw early on in the investigation a crime scene photo that had 2 barstools to barricade the sliding glass door, it didn't make any sense..Now, it makes me think it was done by the surviving roommate after she witnessed him exiting through the glass doors. I think when he came back to get the knife sheath he left behind, he realized that, A: someone barricaded the sliding door. And, B: it meant that he didn't kill everyone who happened to be in the house that night. I think he went to some of their big house parties to scope the place out and tampered with the glass door for future access.

So it is not that surprising to me that she might have been in traumatic shock and denial for hours or even days. It's not that much different than playing dead, so the beast does not come back and find you are still there, and breathing I think it is like a total withdrawal, to the point of hoping to disappear. yes everything about this case is bizarre, the surviving roommates behavior, how at least 2 of the victims were awake but not a single one screamed to try and warn the others or try and fight to keep the others safe. how the 911 call didn't happen until 8 hours later and it wasnt for a homicide, she called 911 because the other roommate fainted upon seeing the scene, the police not arriving there until 4pm (4 hours after the 911 call was placed and 12 hours after the murders), BK going for a PhD in criminology yet making so many dumb mistakes youd think someone with a masters in criminology would know not to make, the police essentially lying to the public about what surviving witnesses heard saw for no reason (I really can't think of any reason why they'd lie about them being asleep and not hearing anything), police in another state thousands of miles away stopping BK twice in the space of a few hours for minor traffic violations and not giving him a ticket either time. I'm sure this case will get weirder as it goes to trial and during that trial.

What's NOT ok is victim shaming or insinuating that she is at fault. Let's hope nobody here has a child of their own go through anything like this because this is unimaginable. I wonder what parents would say if their own college student went through the same situation as D.M. and if their child made the same choice? I frequented a party house when I was in my 20's. In a house like that where different people at different levels of intoxication are going in and out at all different times of the day, you become accustomed to not paying close attention. It was common for people to sleep in till 3 or 4 pm or even 9pm, so you wouldn't necessarily be checking in on people. I had something similar happen where I saw the person, but thought they were just with someone in the house and was leaving and I just went back to bed but it ended up he stole a couple things.

One of the most puzzling things in this horrific quadruple homicide is the fact four young people got stabbed to death and yet there were hardly any loud screams. Under normal circumstances, one or multiple stabs in the torso area should give someone, even if half asleep, enough time to at least scream for help and alert someone in the immediate vicinity. In this case, just whimpers if anything.

Im speaking on the behave of fellow college students in Moscow & Pullman area. To all the people who are questioning why the surviving roommate did not call 911 I think it is important to understand our area. I get the questioning because of the situation now that we know what happened, but college students are up all hours of the night, almost everyone lives with multiple roommates who are also students. Pretty much all the neighbors around you are students or cows. Part of the college roommate living is ppl doing their own thing & giving each other some privacy. Then the next day you can see them & chat & do what friends do. Also, the area around U of I & WSU is pretty much just fields & farming! It has been a place where not everyone locks their doors all the time type of environment. So even if the roommates thought there may have been an argument or fight, the last thing we think is going to happen is murder. All that being said, we dont know exactly what she saw or her thinking at the time. But some stuff I hope people can keep in mind.

Dylan did not have the information we have. As far as she knew, Kaylee was playing with her dog and Zana was watching TikTok. It was a party house with people coming and going all the time, at all hours. If she heard a sound and opened her door a bit and saw a guy coming towards her, she likely would have thought he had been there visiting one of her roommates and not thought much of it. He might have given her the creeps and that’s why she closed and locked her door. There is no way she thought this guy just murdered everyone in the house. Hindsight is 20/20 but she has no one and nothing to answer to/for. She couldn’t possibly be expected to know what happened. Everyone should leave her alone. All of this victim blaming is unacceptable. She’s so young and has been traumatized deeply. Every second of the trauma and grief is Bryan Kohbergers fault. Lay every bit of blame at his feet and no one else. This is his fault 100%. Dylan is an innocent victim here.

I bet he planned on killing all 6 but after stabbing 4 of them dead that fast he could’ve just simply been exhausted and that’s why he didn’t kill anyone else and just walked out the door. Killers have their fantasies but when they actually go through with it they realize it’s not as easy as in the movies.

Once Bryan’s convicted, He’d first be required be be locked in room alone with victim’s fathers, family members..followed by receiving an ‘eye for an eye’ punishment.
If that helps save lives by being a more effective deterrent, great. If not- at least that’s as close to justice served as we’d get.

I don't think this is as it seems and we'll find out at trial what actually happened. I'm thinking maybe she was scared at first then convinced herself that she was just being silly and went to bed. Like I said though, we'll know eventually.

Lots of people arguing over this point but it's quite likely we don't have all the information. Based on what we've been told, it's troubling that she was both intensely frightened - "frozen in shock" -- but also that she did nothing to check on her roommates.
It was a party house with lots of people coming and going so if she saw him and didn't feel frightened -- her lack of response would make more sense.
But she obviously didn't realize her roommates had been slaughtered when he left.

@@pjSoCal23 Well, I definitely wouldn't look away at my house lol, but it's been put out there a lot that there were constantly people in and out of the house. The police even went by there one day for a noise complaint and none of the renters were there. It was just a bunch of people in and out. So, considering this wasn't unusual for them, that's why I think that could be the case. I don't have a bunch of people in and out of my house with roommates hooking up all hours of the night, so if I see someone in my house, I'm freaking the fuck out. God, that's horrible to even think about.
