The saddest thing is to see an old man, who had been through so much in his life, crying. Because you know something serious happened. Like a loss of the best friend. Greatest respect to you, Mr. Contaldo!

After I was done crying, I cooked this recipe for my family. I worried the chilli would be too much for the little ones. They ate every scrap. Great simple food made with with love

This is so touching, that walk from cooking to sitting down where is friend sat, was so painful to watch and then when he said he don't care what people think, then apologised for saying it, when he really had no need to, what an absolute gentleman, much respect to him

I wanna make this dish, I’ve replicated a lot of Gennaro’s recipes and they’ve all been outstanding, but whenever I try to watch this video, I end up just crying my eyes out and can’t concentrate on what he’s cooking

First time I watched this, I clicked on it because I love his recipes and they all look so good, but by the end I was an absolute wreck. As soon as he sits down and says “memories” and starts to think about how much he misses his dear friend, I’m done for. I actually feel my heart breaking and there’s no stopping the waterworks. If I ever have the pleasure of meeting Gennaro, I’m giving him a hug (however I will ask if it’s ok with him first). I wanted to reach through the screen and give him one at the end.

Thiss felt like a scene from a movie towards the end when a guy misses his old friend. I mean if you see a scene like this in a movie, it'll hit you so hard, but movies are made that way to be more dramatic, but this isn't a movie.
I really didn't expect this watching a cooking video, even when it started the way it did. It still seems a bit surreal to me, to be so touched by a short video of someone cooking a simple pasta dish.
Spot on man. This is like a real life scene. Truly a beautiful video.
There are times in Life when we stumble upon the unexpected at unexpected places, this is one of those.
Gennaro has such a big heart - he makes my day and makes me smile on the darkest of winter days - i hop esomeone does this for Genanro as he does for us :)
I am so so proud of him just showing his genuine emotions. It is very hard to lose a friend and going through old memories.

This just sets a lump in my throat and a tear to my eye. I’ve watched the Two Greedy Italians over and over again and just loved their friendship, lust for life and of course their food. Their love and joy for Italy made such an impression on me that I sold all I had and moved there 5 years ago! I am still here! I met my wife in Rome and we married in Umbria and moved to Tuscany! Even now I still watch their old episodes and even some of Antonio’s old TV snippets! Thank you to you both and thank you Gennaro for sharing as keeping his memory alive for us. Big hug.

Over the years I saw many different individuals showing their passion for food and some try to express how they feel about their friends. However, this video showed me what a perfect recipe of pure love of friendship and food really is. There are really no words that can describe this ultimate friendship. Huge respect from Florida and thank you for sharing.
EDIT: I was so emotionally inspired by this video that I actually just made this dish for my family. It came out so delicious that I can't express how great and blessed I feel right now. For some reason or another this dish feels very special to me now even though I have no relationship to Gennaro & Antonio .

I can really relate to this Video. My best friend and I though that we are young cook for each other and together and have a lot of fun doing so. It's just like with people going nuts when a traditional recipe is altered because it's not just the food itself that makes it great or taste good but also what you associate with it.

As a chef, this is exactly why i came to cooking. The emotion. Man, a dish can be related to some so strong feelings, you can build incredible things, incredible memories, and make people lifes so much better with things as simple as a pasta dish

thats what cooking truly is, a memory and a window into loved ones we have lost, friends and family who loved food and that you miss because you can no longer eat and love food together.
Spirit is real and Gennaro isn't afraid to show us this. Glad I watched up to the end. I wish that they're were more people like this. He doesn't have to see the afterlife to know that it exists.
I think when i first watched this, i felt so sympathetic for him because i really admire him (plus im an empath). Now that it's been a year since i lost my grandpa, rewatching this feels like im sitting in silence with a friend that gets exactly how i feel. That choking feeling of wanting to cry but at the same time NOT wanting to, because you know your loved one wouldn't really want you to cry... Knowing what they'd tell you if they were sitting right next to you, because you know them so well... Everyone who's lost a loved one, especially someone they connected a lot with, understands this deeply. I'm making this for my mom soon- she's still grieving a lot for her father and i hope she'll love it, as she loves lemons and any kind of spice.

Sitting on the beautiful Italian countryside with your eyes closed pondering about life. That is my goal for life
Very nice to sit and remember to someone who was close to someone. Our family goes every year at his dax of death to my grandfathers grave. We come there with chairs and Brezel with sparkling wine. Its a nice way to celebrate and remember him. Alll of us have someone to think and celebrate about we miss ... but soon we will follow them whereever they are. Guys enjoy your life and eat lemon pasta but with a bit good zest.
