  • This demonstration is of a 2007 Tacoma, but it's a fairly common fix for most vehicles. Avoid costly repair bills. This is a very simple and easy job that you can do for less than $25 in just a few minutes!

While Toyotas seem to be good for 300K miles before something serious happens, every vehicle requires a little TLC now and again. Great video!

I replaced both the resistor & blower motor on my sons girlfriends 2005 or 07 Jeep Liberty. She said that if the motor was bad, she told me ''I don't want some cheap $35-$45 Blower Motor from Amazon'', ''So please buy one from Auto Zone.'' They ran $129.95. But when I looked at the manufacturer of the unit on amazon, it just happened to be Dorman, which is one of the Auto Zone Brands, along with their suppliers name anyway... So after the resistor still wouldn't allow 2 speeds to work, I went ahead and ordered the Dorman Blower Fan & with my amazon prime account, I got the part the next day so she wasn't the wiser, plus I saved her about $85-$90 in the process.... Hey, thanks for posting the video. Perhaps a $20 bill will get my daughters 07 Tacoma going.... MD.........

Use a 1/4" ratchet with a 7/32" regular socket or 5.5mm socket. The new motor resister needs to be remounted in the same position. You can't leave it hanging down.

If you're the REEEAAAALLL Gun Blue, you'll shoot the defective fan switch right out of the dash rather than using tools.... 😁

Bought replacement from Amazon for $18. Looks very different from part I took out. However, works fine. Old part looks ancient compared to new part . Air blows on all settings now. Easy fix.

Notice that you said "I'll get back to you" on the 2nd screw.. because it's next to impossible to get at!!!

👍Good stuff👍 I had the same problem w/ an ‘07 Chevy TrailBlazer. Mine included some melted, burnt control wiring but was squared away in no time at all.

So awesome! I've been driving my truck around for the past two weeks on Full blast because the other settings doesn't work. Mechanic couldn't get me in sooner, your video helped me so much and probably saved me some money too! Picked up the parts and tool at O'Reilly, took no more than 10 min to fix and waahhlaa!! Thank you for your post!
