I'm and Electrical Engineer, and think this is an extremely well thought-out and accurate tutorial that should apply generally for any car blower motor system. Well done!
My Blower motor works just fine , speeds and control all works 110% but the second I start my engine it turns off completely and it stops working. Why would that be, he doenst talk about it in video so thought id try you since your some engineer bloke?
I’m a 65 yr old Grandma who looks everything up on YT and I just want to thank the person who said smack the motor. You are the bomb!! After checking fuses, and relays and Freon, I found this comment and went downstairs and gave it a whack and boom it worked. I’m so happy😂😂😂😂
I had problems 1 & 2. Didn't know how to explain it to the mechanic & got charged almost $100 just for him to look. I found this video today. You did such a thorough job of explaining everything step by step & using drawings. Now I can go back & tell him what I think is going on and I wont have to keep using the term "thingy" to describe the problem. You'll definitely be getting 5 stars from this grateful mom!
I had to leave a comment. this Guy should be called a Master Mechanic. The way he explains things makes complete 100% sense. Thank you for your detailed explanations.
I’ve already made a booking with the “aircon specialist” tomorrow but now having seen this video, I’m not waisting my money for something I can do myself. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with the 🌎.🙌🏽
You're Awesome You definitely explain it where a layman can understand , plus your voice is clear. One of the best videos I have ever watched on reparing a car issue. . Thank you
I LOVE how the mechanics and electrical systems are explained here. Super helpful. Thank you!! A little scared to tackle fixing this myself but willing to try it out.
This is THE BEST instructional video I've even seen! Fantastic job explaining and physically showing what to look for. Thank you. I'm now a subscriber.
I have no power to my resistor at all, The first two explanations were very in depth, and I was hoping you would do the same for my problem as well, but you only told me what I already knew, that I needed to test power or resistance to the switch, and I’m not sure how. Still a great video. More descriptive than anything I’ve seen so far.
Oh my gsoh! Tonight my blower decided to stop working on me and so I started looking around yt and nothing here made sense- BUT THIS IS GOING TO SAVE ME!! Thank you for sharing so many wonderful tips. I hope your pillow is cold on both sides forever. 😭✨️
This is brilliant. I did this and found my motor was the problem. I hit it on the metal spline in the middle and lots of carbon dust came out. Did this 10 times, shook it, spun it and it now works goodvas new!
The best video I've seen concerning this issue (I'm having the last one... works on lower speeds, but not on high. 2015 subaru forester. Thanks for your hard work putting this content together. I appreciate it.
I know JACK DIDDLY about cars. Can't even change a tire! But i absolutely understood fully everything in this video and what's wrong with my car AND how to fix it! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Great job on this video. I have a 2005 gmc serria with climate control that ive replaced resistor 3 times or so , this video should help alot of people. My issue is fan comes on when it feels like it. Very frustrating power and grounds seem ok. Ill keep looking for more videos and this issue UPDATE: Defective blower motor from auto parts store out of the box
I changed the BM, the BM resistor, and the relay and was still giving me problems until one day it came to my mind that it can possibly be the climate control module. So I dismantled the center panel console on my ride and switched out the climate control module, and it all of a sudden worked like magic. Long story short, it was my climate control module that was defective.
Good video. I would've also included what the possibilities could be if neither the blower motor nor the compressor are turning on (bad relay, low refrigerant levels, etc).
friend you gave us a great class so profesional, very well explain stept by step i apreciate it, such good skills you have as auto electric so as a teacher. Thank you so much
This video is gold. I was so confused on how it works and now I have such a good understanding. Now I can diagnose using common sense and some actual testing of voltage at certain connections. If you find the problem is the blower motor is it really important to change out the resistor too? And vice versa if you find the resistor is the issue do you have to change out the blower motor too?
This is exactly what I need. I have a Renault twingo and this helped me get my head around what’s wrong. Shame I have to take the dash off to goer to what I want lol
Great video. With my blower motor only on occasion it doesn't run whether heating or cooling. Then all of a sudden it starts working. I've changed resistor and blower motor. I suspect a loose connection but I don't think so. After your video I'm thinking a relay.
Thanks a lot...I finally found a video that makes sense. My situation is scenario 1. It has not completely paced it - it works intermittently - when it does work (sometimes after several minutes of driving), it works at all speed settings. However, some others say that you should not change the blower motor on its own; that the resistor is almost always also compromised, so it should be changed as well. What do you think? Based on your logic, the resistor only needs to replaced under scenario 2, which does not apply to me, since my only issue is scenario 1
Thank you for the video. I replaced the resistor, the motor and still nothing. I checked the voltage at the blower fan plug and I’m only getting 7-8 volts across all the four blower settings. Why would I not be getting 12 volts? Thank you for your help
I have a 2015 Mustang whose blower works but the heat randomly blows cold, hot, nothing. At first, I thought it could be one of the actuators under the dash controlled by the temperature knob or a fuse, etc. Turned out to be a small leak in a radiator hose. This caused the overflow reservoir to empty. The low coolant sensor that monitors the overflow reservoir then caused my heater to quit working properly. Never thought it would be anything like this. Temp fix is to fill up reservoir. Long term, replace leaky hose.
In my 03 ram the fan stopped blowing and I stopped and banged on the bottom of the dash and it came back on again. This has worked with several vehicles I have had. It is temporary but it is a way to have air until you can fix it.
great video, very informative. my wifes jeep grand cherokee has the climate control system, and her ac and heater will not blow at all on any setting. you get in, turn it on and nothing. turn it on the highest setting and nothing. sometimes you drive for a little bit or a long bit and it starts blowing. sometimes you hit a bump and it starts blowing. sometimes if it is not terribly hot out, it will start blowing as soon as you start the vehicle to take off, but of course on the days when it is really hot and you need it to work right away, it doesnt work for a good while. i am going to start by checking the fuse and relay as your video shows. thank you again for a great video
Did you ever get it figured out. I'm having the same problem with my wife's dodge Durango. I put in a new blower motor, resistor, and fuse. But it's still not blowing at all in the front vents. Only the back vents work.
thanks for the great tips, my question is how do we look for the ground as mentioned at 9:20 or around that point? my case (sienna 08) is that there is no power at the control key and no power at the resistor, the fan is running good when connected directly to the battery terminals. this point is very important and left unexplained.
To look for ground you set your multimeter to DC voltage and connect one lead to battery positive terminal and use the other lead to touch a potential ground. If your multimeter shows voltage - you found your ground. But I would think it should be a power control switch. Therefore I would look why there's no power coming to the switch first, maybe it's just a blown fuse.
After watching this video, I know i need to check my blower and resistor to see which one is out. This is after paying almost 1k to get the blower replaced last year and i’m checking it just in case they never replaced it. If that doesn’t work then imma have to check the resistor and connectors. Also already changed the AC fuse and AC relay.
On my Chrysler 300c the ac/hc worked perfectly until we replaced a ripped coolant hose, after we replaced the hose it doesn’t blow any air. The fans turns on and it turns on every speed level but no air blown out, what can it be ? Please reply!
I have a different scenario my car, the relay works i can hear it click there is power to blower as i checked the with multi meter and blower works I checked that separately by pulling it out and put it on 12V, yet I turn fan speed to setting 1.2.3 nothing happens, could it be the resistor but then i should have fan speed on setting 3 right? Can you tell what i have missed it is a Toyota Hilux 2018. BTW this video is very good 👍👍 and easy to under stand hence i am stuck now TY.
When its the blower moter itself you often can turn on the fans and tap the blower motor with your screw driver or something and it often will kick in. That means the brushes in the motor are going kaput and you have to change out the motor.
My 2010 town and country has front and rear ac. I have no working blower fan in the front, only at the rear unit. I removed the fan and tested it externally and it worked on the bench.
Hello thank you for this great video. My problem is still not solved. When connecting power on my car the blower goes for 10 seconds than stops. Doesn t mather number 1 .2.6.or 7. It stops after 10 seconds. After a little time is goed om 10 sec. I used a new motor a other Heather control panel and a new blow motor resister that on the blow motor connected for caching the speed. What can i do now. Hands in my heart. Johan peppl off holland
got everything back together and all was working well...., first time I hit a bump it went back out. speeds 1-2 are not working, 3 is good and 4 bypasses the resistor so its good...gotta think there's a loose wire somewhere...any ideas ??
My blower motor has been make noise for weeks. Then it only works on high. Now it’s barely working at all. Is the problem the blower motor or the resistor?
Like the video, my Lincoln town car has ac and heat but it works on all speeds but only out the bottom vents so only my feet cool and hot ! What is my cars issue? I press it too top vent and still comes out bottom 😭
Hello nice Video! I have a 2010 chevy express 1500, I have replaced the resistor addy and the blower motor. The system works on low, 2nd low, but not the 3rd then works on max after replacement. It also will cut off and then come back on. What would could that indicate failure of? This is all occurring during use of the AC. Thanks for any replies.
I have a 2011 Kia Sorento EX V6, and my blower motor doesn't come on intermittently, even after the designated built in delay, I checked fuse okay, changed Relay, Resister and blower motor all with the control unit in the dash, after replacing the control unit last, it seemed to work for a couple weeks, but started not working again, car starts and mid range blower is indicated on the control unit, when it doesn't work I adjust to high setting and it starts working. I am thoroughly stumped on this one.
So many people tried to explain the blower motor resistors and you're the only one who made sense.
Excellent explanation!!!
I'm and Electrical Engineer, and think this is an extremely well thought-out and accurate tutorial that should apply generally for any car blower motor system. Well done!

@@CorbinBerrimanyou would have to check the fuses and go threw diagnosing your car.
Does it blow a fuse doing this it could be an underrated fuse if so
I’m a 65 yr old Grandma who looks everything up on YT and I just want to thank the person who said smack the motor. You are the bomb!! After checking fuses, and relays and Freon, I found this comment and went downstairs and gave it a whack and boom it worked. I’m so happy😂😂😂😂
Hi just a hint that the motor is on the way out soon will need replacing it's good it's giving you the heads up
I'm a 50 year old g-pa and same I look up everything on yt and you're the bomb respectful ly

Did you fix the problem? Was the blower motor the problem?
I had to leave a comment. this Guy should be called a Master Mechanic. The way he explains things makes complete 100% sense. Thank you for your detailed explanations.

Awesome video! Very easy to understand and informative!!! Thanks
You're right on the money, no one has done a better job! 1 new sub 🤙😎
Good video.

Informative. Thanks.
This is best a/c video on TH-cam
Thanks!
Thank You!
Thanks so much I just fixed it by watching your video god bless u❤
Very nice explanation. Simply, simple and beautiful explanation.

No, I would just replace what's bad
The best educational video, learned a lot from this video. best car fix youtuber. Thank you, thank you, and Thank you.

This was good only thing I would add is checking the cabin air filter
Great teaching skills!
Muchas gracias por su video, fue de gran ayuda, he resuelto mi problema de manera fácil y práctica, gracias por compartir sus conocimientos maestro.
Thank you so much for the video. I have changed the blower motor resistor but after couple of days it has failed again. What's the story in this case?
This is perfect cuz I have the same truck and I’m having this problem 😂
