Project Farm did a comparison on engine oils. Supertech worked about as good as all but the most expensive oils, which marginally surpassed it. That's good enough for me.
I’ve been using both Supertech oil and filters since the 1990’s when it was called Tech 2000 in a variety of engines with no issues. I also worked in a Wal Mart DC for decades and can tell you it’s a big seller.
@@patrickhenry2845 i only buy OEM filters but trust Supertech oil. I use it in my car and generators. $18 vs $35 for a 5qt.... Can do a full synthetic oil change + filter change for $25.
My dad commuted to his job in a Ford crown vic with a 5.0 engine. He drove that thing for a little over 300,000 miles on super tech oil and an orange can Fram. Never had an issue with it and still has that car which still runs good. Gotta be good oil.
Thank you for the comment! I had a few Ford vehicles and they always treated me right too. Of course, they got regular love which means fresh oil and filters, and reasonable driving 😅
After 15 years I picked up basic servicing my own vehicles again. 21 4Runner and 13 RDX. I just did my first oil change on the 4Runner with Super Tech Full Synthetic 0w20, and also on my sons’ accords’ and sis in laws Camry with the respective weights for there vehicles with Super Tech Brand. We use OEM filters only. Super tech meets all the specs per vehicle manufacture recommendations for my vehicles so why would it not be a great choiice at a great value. Awesome vid man! As far as oil change intervals, it gets changed out at 3K. Oil is cheap, engines aren’t! Awesome vid man!
Hi . Been using Supertech 5W30 fully sythetic oit in my 2010 Kia Sportage with 2.7 Liter engine . It presently has 636,000 klms on it and still running great . I change oil and filter every 10,000 klms and never have to add between changes . Great product !
@@clayman7853 I'm still running it. Just put a fresh 6 quarts in my 2022 2.7l Silverado. Remember, clean cheap oil outperforms expensive old and dirty oil every time. 😅
The most important items on any oil change is to use the proper viscosity, as recommended by the manufacturer, and to perform the oil change when needed. Brand doesn’t matter as much. It can be argued that Mobil 1 or Royal Purple may use a few extra ounces of detergent but all manufacturers tend to meet and exceed what is federally mandated.
Great review. I've been using SuperTech oil and SuperTech oil filters for years. Never an issue. The regular Full Synthetic SuperTech is just as good as the major brand oil in my opinion.
I gave up allowing oil to get dirty then draining it in 1963. Multi grade oil was crap and cost about double the price of Standard Delo. Multi grade didnt hold up in a diesel. Delo came in 30W and 20 W. 29 cents a quart in the discount stores. You can still get Chevron Delo 100 10 W to 50 W. I might order some for the Ford diesel tractor. The engine sticker says you can use 10 40 but in hot summer use use 30. I put Walmart 15W 40 diesel conventional. Hard to find 30 W winter grade. The 30 weight that was in it didnt flow at 32 F. Not winter grade. My boss put over 350.000 miles on a 292 big 6 in a early 60s Chevy Suburban using Delo 100 20W. He had a dragster and was sponsored by Chevrolet. He got Valvolene racing oil and Baldwin filters free. He didnt drain the oil in the tow rig. We managed to get by without synthetic oil. We used toilet paper filters.
My brother is a purchasing agent for Walmart in Bentonville Arkansas. Walmart puts its motor oils up for bid every 6 months. Major oil companies bid to bottle Super Tech oil for them. At any given time the oil in the bottle may be Castrol, Mobile,Pennzoil, Valvoline, Exxon, ect. Walmart is not in the oil business and always uses the major brands.
Thanks for watching and commenting. You are right about this. I’m not sure it’s mix for mix the same as name brand but I know they come from major oil producers. Warren I think, is the latest producer of SuperTech.
@@tomasnokechtesledger1786 Warren is vendor in one market segment of Wal-Mart...there are 2 others supplying in other areas. Saw a YT video - guy said there is a small marking on containers to determine vendor. BTW - thanks for posting the info👍
Using Supertech in all of my cars now. No issues. As long as oil has all the specifications on the bottle and change oil regularly you are not going to have an oil related problem.
Correct. I try not to generate used oil. I dont drain oil but I generate a lot of contaminated depth filter elements better known as Scott 1000 or Great Value 1000 from Walmart.
Thats a big mistake people make. They think the more the oil cost the longer it will last. I drove the 84 Subaru 250.000 miles with no oil drains using Mobil 1 and a toilet paper filter. My guess is I could have done the same thing with Super Tech. Took about 20 years.
So long as the API rating is up to par and you use the right viscosity, brand doesn't matter. I always look for the cheapest per-quart when I buy, with the current API rating and the right viscosity.
That's like saying all lawyers pass the bar so they all are the same.I,by no means am saying ST is bad oil but to say this stuff is the same as Schaffers or Amsoil because its certified is just a foolish ideolgy .If I recall right ,Schaffers isn't even certified and I would dare somebody to say it's garbage because it's not certified.
I would rather use the more expensive oils but im 81. Every thing I have will outlast me..I did fine before synthetics were available. I dont run in cold weather. In the 60s about the closest oil I used to synthetic was Castrol R in the Motorcycle. Couldnt start the motorcycle in bear country. A grizzle bear coulf smell the oil 30 miles away..
Solid oil. Warren INC is a vast corporation and delivers a good product. The full synthetic is a group 3. I've been preaching my brains out for years about the Kendall Gt-1 10w30. I am very impressed with what I've read about the new Valvoline 150k-plus. It was released last year. It did magnificently in engine protection testing. I was also blown away by the Penzoil Platinum that out-performed Mobil One...And Penzoil has half the additives but showed better protection.
I considered wal-mart oil , back in 2014 . From there , i read the reviews . A decade later i use it in all my vehicles & have never looked back . Its a great product , at a great price
I don't know how this video appeared on my feed but very great information, I have a 2014 Toyota Camry that I used to drive Uber and Lyft I have over $330,000 mi on my car and I always thought that I needed to put the high mileage oil from one of the top brand names to keep my car going. I'm definitely going to try the Walmart brand based on your experience with it. I appreciate the video bro!
I would probably stick to whatever you've been using if you have that kind of mileage on your vehicle. If it ain't broke, why fix it. Remarkable mileage!
@@jeremsgarage yeah it's went up over the last couple years, you can buy name brand oil for two dollars more now. Supertech useted to be 10 bucks cheaper.
I used exclusively either Kirkland or Supertech full synthetic in my Honda CRV, I had it for nearly 300,000 miles until I had a crash and got rid of it, never had any issues
I can usually find QS 5qt jug on sale within a 10% variance from the store brands. But I will buy ST when I just need 1 qt. From the tests I've seen QS performed slightly better than ST. My vehicles idle a little quieter with QS and Pennzoil and I have seen dirt in the bottom of bottles of store brand oil so I don't go with them. Have had good luck with Motorcraft filters too. Although the Toyota cartridge filter is cheaper than the other brands.
Depends on your driving style. You can go longer on oil changes if you alot of extended highway driving no longer than 7k miles. If you do alot of in town driving or take short trips change your oil at 3k miles. City and highway driving 4k-5k miles oil change.
I gave up dirty oil and routine oil drains in 1963 with a toilet paper oil cleaner and Standard Delo 100 30 W. The sticker on my 79 Ford diesel tractor said you can use 10 30 or 10 40 year around but in hot summer use 30 weight.I was digging a pond last summer.put heavy duty Walmart off road diesel 30 weight in it. The first morning it got down to freezing it was too thick on the dipstick Walmart didnt have winter grade 30. I put Walmart diesel rated 15 w 40 conventional in it. I might order some Chevron Delo 100 30 W for it. It worked year around in Idaho because it is winter grade. In the 60s I figured if it was good enough for a Grey Hound bus it was ok for the Rambler. Multi grades couldnt be used in a diesel in those days.Standard Delo 100 came in 30W and 20W in 1963 29cents a quart in the discount stores. I think it comes in 10W to 50W now Delo was beautiful with a toilet paper filter.
@@garryli2030 I've been using Supertech Full synthetic in my Toyota Venza V6 for about 3 years. No knocks or oil burning. It's always the cheapest since my engine takes 6.4 quarts. Probably started using ST at 130,000 miles. Now at 175,000. Changed the oil today with ST 20,000 mile oil and Mobil 1 filter. I'll change it when it hits 5,000 miles, regardless of what the protection says. I believe that's key, don't do these crazy extended intervals. That's when it will start getting caked inside.

I love this argument, been messing around and building engines as a hobby since late 80s and i have used countless brand engine oils over these years (same goes for oil filters) and i have yet to have one failure due oil (or a filter). Also, i have pulled apart several engines and looked at the bearings & cylinder bores guess what no damage from cheap oil. If you change your oil frequently and use right viscosity as far as oils go it’ll be fine! With that said i use Mobil1 syn now because its @ $25 at walmart but as others stated this supertech seems to score high in tests out there.
Thank you for your comment! I agree! It does make it a little harder to justify only $4-5 difference between SuperTech and Mobile 1. I appreciate you watching!
I just bought a 23 Chevy Traverse. I stopped by a mechanic friend that only does engine & transmission work. He prefers to work on classic cars. He has more business than he knows what to do with. I asked him about oil. With the most honest look on his face he said. “ I just use the cheapest O’Rielly Brand. I call them up and they bring it to me.” I have never had an engine failure do to oil. So buy the cheapest oil with the correct weight recommended in your manual. Change it at 3,000 or 3,500 miles and you will be worry free. Everything else is advertising & marketing. You simply do not need expensive oils.
285k miles on my Engine using nothing but Mobil 1 synthetic, engine idles and runs like new.. I am sure other oils are also good, but Mobil 1 has always been good to me.
Walmart Conventional used to be $17/5L jug and the synthetic was 19.79. Its gone up by about 5 bucks or so but still a decent price if Mobil1 or something isnt on sale for around $33. I just used the last (cheap)bottle of Castrol Edge synthetic I had over the weekend. I had bought them on sale for $23.
I’ve used super tech synthetic for over 20 years. 01 Honda Accord 326,000 on it. Ran great when I sold it. 08 Honda Accord 320,900 on it when sold it. Still ran perfect. My 07 Tacoma 4 cyl 220,000 on it. Still own it runs perfect. All super tech oil. I’m sold on it. Fram and super tech filters. Just change it at 5k on all vehicles
I use Costco's synthetic oil and I'd use supertech synthetic oil from Walmart without a doubt. I wouldn't use those premium superexpensive oils like Royal Purple or Liqui Moly, they cost up to four times compared with the synthetic oil I use and certainly they're not four times better.
@@jeremsgarageI also agree! Those premium oils such as Royal Purple, Amsoil, Motul, or Liqui-Moly for example, yeah they’d be good to use in a higher performance vehicle. But for an everyday driver like my Honda Civic, the Super Tech oil and filter are just fine…change it out every 5K-6K miles (I drive mostly hwy). Took the valve cover off last year to change out the gasket and adjust the valves…that valve train was silvery shiny with no sludge, deposits, or varnish.
I have a 2002 ram 1500 with a 3.7 v6. I bought the truck new. I now have 265'000 miles on the engine. It runs as good as the day i bought it. I have run the super tech oil and filters since first oil change. I live in texas' and would take this truck to california tomorrow. I'm a believer in super tech oil and filters.i see getting 300'000 out of this engine no problem.
About 20 years ago a lubrication engineer on a offshore drilling rig contacted me. He said I have a friend in your area that needs Gulf Coast filters on a large fleet. When I was putting the Gulf Coast filters on I needed a lot of makeup oil. Everything large and small used Walmart 15W 40 diesel rated conventional oil. The filters are to eliminate oil changes under normal conditions. The same as on a Shell offshore rig. At 83 I dont crawl up under trucks anymore. The Ford industrial engines used toilet paper. All of the diesels used Bounty big roll paper towels.
@@jeremsgarage I use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, too. Also, I use a Fram Ultra Synthetic oil filter and putting a longer one than what the car calls for for the same price as the shorter. Super Tech is an alright oil product and Project Farm tested it as an alright, but you're right that there isn't that much a difference in price and the Ultra Platinum came in 2nd in the 16 synthetic oil tournament behind the much much more expensive Amsoil. I used to use Super Tech and would feel comfortable with it in my engine, but not for as long of an oil change interval. I like how he changes his oil meticulously early and that is more portabt than brand name in my opinion, but Super Tech as of now is getting much higher in price, and would rather spend just a few extra on the PUP, because it lasts significantly longer, but still change it early.
Just an observation I used this as well. Never had a problem, however in commericial use - i do an average of 10,000 miles a month with loads up to 3000 lbs, with small engines like 5.2 and 4.6....the oil loss (consumption, no leaks or blowby) is higher than any mobil 1 or Pennzoil ultra platinum I've used Caveat - I ran CNG in the past, now propane as a fuel. Higher combustion temps for propane Driving around town? Use it. Keep an eye on the oil level. To sum it up, no wear problems but this oil seems to eat itself I'd like someone to post if they noticed the same thing When ultra platinum went on half price sale I filled up a Sprinter with it, ya i save 50% over time but it was a little ridiculous buying $1000 worth of oil 🤣
I've used store brand synthetic for ever. From Western Auto to Walmart and everything in between all synthetic and I always upgrade my filter to the largest filter that fits, that goes for everything that has a filter. My lawn tractor filter is twice as long as the OEM. Larger filter traps more and less restricted. Great info.
I use Ford 3/4 16 thread filters on my riding mowers plus toilet paper bypass filters. The toilet paper filters actually clean oil the full flow filters are strainers.
I started with a Frantz oil cleaner and Standard Delo 30W in 1963. My wifes Pontiac Torrent.with the 3400 engine uses a Australian Jackmaster Classic with Super Tech synthetic. About every 6.000 miles I change the Jackmaster Classic and add a quart of new Super Tech synthetic 10 30. Dont drain the oil. Ran a 84 Subaru 250.000 miles with no oil drains with Mobil 1 15 50 and a Frantz oil cleaner. I dont accumulate dirty used oil. Never made sense to me to allow oil to get dirty then drain it. Dont drive much now. A GM technician told me the 3800 was the best engine GM ever made.i wont live long enough to wear out the 3400. I dont plan on changing the Wix xp filter the rest of my life . Im told the pleats wont break down like the paper pleats. I inherited the Pontiac because she drives a newer Honda Accord. Its a 2015.with 100.000 miles on it. The Pontiac is a 2006 with 206.000.miles on it she pisses away money on oil changes. She goes by the book she says the light tells when to change the oil. She works and pays for it. She cant be trained. She was pissed off because the 10 minute oil change place took longer than 10 minutes.
From my understanding, Amazon Basics oil is the same oil in a different bottle. Look on the back they're both Warren oils. Also, don't be afraid to use the supertech filters they're pretty good for the cost.
@@jeremsgarage the oil in question is just oil but regular maintenance is key and you'd be surprised how your engine could outlast yourself if you take good care of it. Motor oil is cheap but a destroyed engine is costly and time consuming to repair. I don't doubt that synthetic (semi and full) are great oils for cars and trucks but for small power equipments with no oil filter and no oil pump (pressure washers, generator, water pump, lawn mowers, gasoline tiller and even 4 stroke chainsaws) which uses old school splash lubrication system, synthetic engine oils are pretty much useless because you gotta follow the manual recommendations (50 hours oil change), fully synthetic or not, you cannot go beyond that 50 hours point
My Dad Just bought a Brand New Toyota 4 Runner and he does his own oil changes and he is using full syn supertech....He believes that short oil change intervals are Key....
No matter how good the oil is, contaminants build up. Carbon is a major cause of wear. When you change the oil you are getting rid of the dirty oil. Cheap insurance on your vehicle.
My 2013 RAM 1500 is over 200k now and owned it since 40k miles and always change my own oil and filters and using 5W20 full syntetic SUPERTECH oil and filter only until now and NO single problem at all, running smooth like still 40k miles on engine
Good video. I just purchased super tech oil for the first time to give it a try. I have a 2012 Honda Civic and a 2018 Honda CR-V that I’m going to use this on.
SuperTech, blended by Warren Distribution (same as AmazonBasics, Kirkland, etc.), probably gets "standard" dexos1 additives from Lubrizol, and then Warren buys somebody's GroupIII synthetic and blends away. You could do it yourself, if Lubrizol or Oronite or Afton would sell you their dexos1 chemical soup (I.e., Lubrizol PV1500 liquid), and you followed their recipe with base GroupIII oil viscosity types, and I think you would still need to put in a VII chemical in that recipe. That's what Warren does. Commodity chemical technology, good to go.,
Dude, they all have the API star burst stamp, that means if it says Full Synthetic (group lll) then that is what is in the bottle. Nobody is Mix and Matching! You tell Warren, Mobil or any other distributer "I WANT A 5W30 SAE/API SN oil that is what you get! You want a 5w30 API/SN Blend that is what you get and it says so on the bottle!
@@jeremsgarage for my part, I stick to oil brands that have been in motorsport competition for decades like Valvoline, Duckhams, Petronas, Shell, TOTAL, MOTUL, Castrol. I use all of these brands and never had any problem with them especially their mineral multigrade heavy duty oils.
Have used suoertech when I change the oil myself for many years. Until my current vehicle, I always used the conventional oil and usually a suoertech filter, sometimes acdelco. My current vehicle calls for 5w30, and the owners manualy says if being used in extreme low temps, which it can be in the winter here, to use 0w30 or full synthetic 5w30. First time I changed the oil tried the 0w30 from Mobil. Cost a bit more but seemed to start easy in the winter, but I also had a new battery that winter. Figured I would save a bit and just use the suoertect 5w30 full synthetic. Don't even know if they had the synthetic blend oils when my vehicle was new. Depending on prices, might go back to the 0w30, but currently have a 5quart jug of 5w30 suoertech waiting for my next oil change. Bought it and the filter awhile ago, so it was cheaper than I'm sure it is now. Put less than 3000 on my vehicle in a year, so figure change it each year even though the oil and filter say up to 10,000 miles. One vehicle that I used conventional oil in I changed every 5,000 whether it was 6 months or over a year. Engine still ran good, but everything else was going bad on it.
Just used it for the first time in my 2012 elantra 10w20 full synthetic. Seems to be doing okay. Used it in my 2012 equinox as well, seems to do even better 10w30 dexos 2
I work in a parts store and we sell mag1, which is the exact same oil made by highline warren. We sell tons of the stuff over the counter and to all of the independent shops in town for their oil changes. I run it in the family fleet too. Positively nothing wrong with it.
I have been using SuperTech Oil for many years in everything from old beaters to my wife's almost new Toyota Highlander. I became convinced that SuperTech is good oil after seeing a video testing a higher priced oil against SuperTech in an oil testing lab, and the results were as good or even better than the higher priced name brand oil. I forget what this other oil was, but I remember that it is a well respected brand. By the way, I use SuperTech 15W-40 oil for diesel engines in lawn mowers. These engines run hot and get a lot of carbon in them. They sometimes smoke, and the diesel engine oil cleans them so well that they stop smoking. I buy dirt cheap used lawn mowers, and most of the time, the former owner doesn't change the oil.
@@jeremsgarage I would buy old lawn mowers, fix them up, and sell them. I would use them for a while before selling them to make sure they ran good. We lived in Yuma Arizona at the time, and the heat there would destroy regular motor oil in air cooled engines. I came across some articles that said how some oil companies and air cooled engine manufacturers were recommending 15W-40 oil, including Harley-Davidson, so I tried it and it works. I still use it even though I live in San Diego now.
My old Ford diesel tractor calls for 30 weight in summer hot weather. I had Walmart heavy duty 30 weight in it. The first day when the temperature got down to freezing the oil was too thick to circulate. Luckily I pulled out the dipstick before starting the engine. If the oil had a W next to the 30 I would have been OK. Ran Delo 100 W 30 in Idaho. Went to Walmart 15W 40 conventional in the old tractor. Everything else uses Super Tech 10W 30 I can still get Delo 100 in single weight W 10 to W 50. It was popular when you couldnt use multi grades in a diesel. The W of course means Winter
In the late 1970's, my brother had a 1958 Pontiac when he attended the University of Chicago. He used 30 weight in San Diego where we lived, but he discovered that this would not do in cold weather. Once he got it started, he had the oil changed to 10W-40 and had no problems starting it no matter how cold it got.@@ralphwood8818
Honestly a good filter is the only thing I would worry about just because some clean better than others but as far as oil goes as long as you change it regularly you should be fine
Me too. $18 a jug is a steal and every oil is pretty much made to meet a certain specification so honestly anything will work just as long as you change it regularly
I gave up on trying to figure out what the "best" oil is. It's all really good now, and all will make it so the engine lasts longer than I'll keep the vehicle. I run whatever oil meets spec, from a recognized company, and is cheapest when I buy it. Clean cheap oil is better than dirty expensive oil is 100% right, change it often and keep it clean. A local store used to sell 5 quart jugs of Chevron/Havoline 5w30 conventional, and then run a rebate, that put that oil at just over $1/quart. I stocked up, and will again if that deal ever comes around again. Pricing on this oil has changed, and now I run Mobil1 full synthetic for $2 per oil change more.
I've been a Super tech'er for quite some time until I came across Pennzoil ultra platinum on rollback for the same price as the ST. Lemme tell ya, I definitely felt the difference in acceleration and torque. I hadn't calculated mileage, but I love the slightly added improvement 🤷🏽♂️ BTW, my vehicle is an '01 Chevy Express conversion van with 125,xxx that runs smooth as silk👍🏽
Since i started working from home, i adjusted my OCIs to reflect it. Once a month, i do a 1,000 mile road trip for work. The rest of the time, i drive maybe 100 miles a week, and i tow a boat for most of that. I have cut back to 3,000 mile OCIs, and Supertech 5w-30 HM. No point in spending $28 on oil to do what $18 oil does perfectly.
I run super Tech oil in my 07 mercury grand Marquis I love the price. I love the oil. I’ve had no issues with this oil and I love the price and I will run it as long as Walmart carries it.
How many miles does your car get to the 50% mark? then you do your OC?? For me, I change 2 cars. Both Toyota, 4 cylinders, & 5w-30. Rav4 97 3s-fe & Highlander 01 2az-fe The Rav4 uses the Castrol OG green bottle high milage. & uses both Purolator 1 & Bosch Premium. That's the "family ghetto rav4" so it's our grocery, home depot, utility car. Because of that, the oil gets changed once a year. Barely gets 3,000 within the year. The Highlander though gets experiment on different brands. The green bottle, ultra clean, black full synthetic, pennzoil full synthetic & valvoline max life. All oils get burned but reason why I bought them was because they WERE within 22-24$ But NOW the valvoline is 29-35$ at Walmart, Castrol is 22-27$, & Pennzoil is 25$ super tech used to be 17$ & its now 22$ & each of the 1 quart bottles are at least 8$
I've used Supertech for many many years but switched to Rural King's Providence fully synthetic oil recently. Made by Warren oil same as Walmart's oil and for only $17 per 5-gallon jug. No brainer for me same oil, less money.
I use the Supertech latest generation, 20000 mile Advance, 5w30 ford Fi50, and the same version in 0w20, Subaru Legacy. I buy WIX XP oil filters by the dozen, much cheaper that way. Changing at every 5000 miles. Engines are solid and run great, no oil leaks. Half the cost of a M1 and oil filter change!
Since I've made this video prices for SuperTech have went crazy here in Tennessee. It is nearly the same price as the Premium oils. But I agree, it is still good oil and changing it frequently is the key.
I have a 2013 Corolla… and changed the oil every 5 k with Supertech 5w-30 synthetic oil…It now has 100,000 miles and doesn’t burn a drop of oil between oil changes….5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I agree with everything you say. I run a Saab 9-3 turbo and a BMW X5 diesel after watching project farm and other TH-cam testing. If I lived in the desert I’d rock Castrol magnetech least evaporative and pennzoil’s new synthetic, best cold flow if I lived in the Arctic 🥶 if it has sn plus and it’s cheap it doesn’t really matter. I personally use Quaker state 5w40 just because it’s the cheapest sn plus at that weight that I can find but I live in Texas if I lived in mn I’d probably readjust for cold climates but at the end of the day what matters is that it hits that oil spec that your car requires and it’s synthetic so your chain guides don’t dry out and crack even though it’s always submerged in oil. 👍👍👍
I use it in my 2020 Silverado.. does just fine.. run it with a royal purple filter. In my 2010 mustang I use super tech and royal purple filter. In my 2006 grand marquis I run royal purple oil n filter. I get the filters shipped and buy more then enough to justify shipping and a cheaper price then box store. I like wix xp filters too, but prefer royal purple. Believe it or not, the Chevy burns more oil then the mercury. When the mercury starts losing more oil, I’ll switch it over to super tech. I’ve used royal purple in it since I’ve owned it. I think running a good filter is more important..
I worked at Citgo petroleum/Cato oil in oklahoma city I've seen supertech, oriellys, harley, briggs&Stratton and Castrol all on the same line the same goes for grease.
It’s in the middle of the pack. It’s good in colder weather, but I would not use it in southern florida where it’s scorching hot. It breaks down to easily in those climates
@@robertoddo7405 I live in Tennessee and our summers are pretty brutal. I haven't noticed any additional oil consumption than normal. But yep,it's a serviceable oil. Nothing special.

Castrol doesn’t flow like Mobil1 when it’s super cold. If your south of Iowa I guess it doesn’t matter as much. If your in Minnesota and North Dakota forget it.
I've used Supertech for years, it's great oil. Made by Warren I believe. But you won't find a 5 qt jug of it for $21.00 anymore. In some cases it's a little higher than the name brands
I have to put 6.6 quarts of oil in my 2021 Hyundai sonata 2.5 smart stream. Naturally aspirated motor I put 0w-20 plus Lucas oil stabilizer I used to use the full synthetic but now I’ve bumped it up to advance full synthetic with supertech. Here’s what the oil looks like after almost 10,000 miles.I can’t upload a picture but it is fairly clean still
I change mine on all four vehicles no later than 4000 miles, i do not care what it says on the bottles. also use walmart filters or fram what ever i can get cheaper.
I put almost 900,000 miles on a Series 60 Detroit using Super Tech 15w40 diesel oil. The engine run another 200k after I sold it before blowing a head gasket.
I just bought 8 oil changes for the price of four, all SuperTech, oil and filters. $4.08 a quart and $5.60 for the filters. Each oil change is costing me $24, full synthetic, 0W-20
I think Supertech a fine oil. Up here in Minnesota, North Dakota cold flow is very important. Mobil1, Pennzoil platinum, or Amsoil SS moves oil the fastest especially come winter. I’m using Amsoil SS in my 2014 5.3 Silverado and did 4000 far and the oil is black. I’m not concerned because it’s cleaning something in the engine and it’s got the Amsoil filter. I think the Fram oil filter 20000 oil filter is as good as Amsoil oil filter getting down to 20 micron. Mobil1 oil filter is 30 micron. I used Mobil1 0W-20 advanced fuel previously. Not sure why the oil is so black in my truck now using the Amsoil SS 0W-20 because I’ve changed it at 7500 all these years. I’ll change it out at 15000 miles and I’m not worried at all. It’s smooth as silk. I put Amsoil in my whole drive line. My transmission sift much smoother. It’s very noticeable. For my Truck I’ll use Amsoil. In my wife’s and sons vehicle they’ll get the Mobil1 0W-20 extend 20000 oil so I only have to do it 1 time a year.
My oil filters are advertised to 1 micron and cant keep the oil in a diesel from getting black.some diesel soot is non abrasive and too small to be filtered out. Black means nothing in a diesel. If your oil gets black in a gasoline.engine you have a problem. You cant expect a full flow filter to do anything but remove the engine damaging abrasives from the full flow of oil.To remove the small engine wearing abrasives I use bypass depth filters. The best in production is the Australian Jackmaster. I have the Classic model. Havent used the Ultra model. All I have now is Gulf Coast juniors Motor Guards and the Jackmaster Classic. Some have been in use over 50 years.
Been using ST and Kirkland oil since I saw the Project Farm video. Wasting money on Mobil 1 and Royal Purple makes no sense. Filter however, I buy it from the stealership for $5 a pop.
I agree on the oils especially if you change it under 3000 miles it doesn't matter. I try to do mine every 2000 miles myself. Shite some times less. Because 3/4 months will go by and even if I only put 1,200 to 1,500 on it I still change the oil. It just doesn't feel right to go 4 months and not get the oil changed.. Even if it was only driven 2 out of the 4 months...
I just bought a bottle of Supertech for my snow blower. I noticed it isn't that much cheaper then others now. Going to go to something else as the value really isn't there anymore
I bought a 2020 silverado brand new off the lot and use nothing but dealer bulk whatever oil and AC delco filters the dealer puts on. My buddy's are all amsoil users and it kills them lol. My last truck had 310,000 mile using the same oil and filters. I think we tend to way overthink oils. I usually let mine go to about 30-35 percent and have it changed.
I have been running supertech high mileage full synthetic in all of my cars for years, no engine problems from it. Change it out every 5,000 miles, always keep the oil topped off.
Project Farm did a comparison on engine oils. Supertech worked about as good as all but the most expensive oils, which marginally surpassed it. That's good enough for me.
Project farms testing is useless.
I’ve been using both Supertech oil and filters since the 1990’s when it was called Tech 2000 in a variety of engines with no issues.
I also worked in a Wal Mart DC for decades and can tell you it’s a big seller.
I trust the Super Tech oil. But, I don't trust the oil filter. I'll stick with Fram, Mobil, or Napa oil filters. To each his own on the oil filters?
@@patrickhenry2845 i only buy OEM filters but trust Supertech oil. I use it in my car and generators. $18 vs $35 for a 5qt.... Can do a full synthetic oil change + filter change for $25.

kirkland synthetic oil. They both work very well an I believe they're both made by Warren Oil.
Ford 5.0 was a dang good engine!
Oooo. Nowadays stay away from the orange can of death. But super tech oil and filter is ok. For turbo engines with gdi definitely use a good filter.
I have been using this oil for over 8 years and it is great
Switched to this in my '18 6.7 powerstroke today, thanks obama 😂 Been looking for some positive reinforcement. Hoping for the best 👌

Same here. The 20k mile supertech oil filter is great. I believe it's the same construction as the mobil1 and k&n filter.
I think following maintainance interval diligently what matters most. My experience supertech did great both my car and motorcycles
Warren for a decade now

Using Supertech in all of my cars now. No issues. As long as oil has all the specifications on the bottle and change oil regularly you are not going to have an oil related problem.
I agree! Cheap cheap oil is better than dirty expensive oil. imho.
Run any brand oil, just keep it changed
I watch all the various oil tests I believe today there is no bad oil like you say as long as it meets the spec.
So long as the API rating is up to par and you use the right viscosity, brand doesn't matter. I always look for the cheapest per-quart when I buy, with the current API rating and the right viscosity.
I agree totally. Thanks for watching and for commenting!
Yes! Me too! I put it in my lawn mower yesterday.
$3.91/qt for Kirkland oil at Costco. I used to use ST but Walmart has raised the price quite a bit recently

It is good stuff! It's just as expensive now as other oils at my local WalMart. Which is sad.

If you are changing your oil at half life it doesn't matter what brand you use, if you run it longer it will make a difference.

Super Tech is an alright oil product and Project Farm tested it as an alright, but you're right that there isn't that much a difference in price and the Ultra Platinum came in 2nd in the 16 synthetic oil tournament behind the much much more expensive Amsoil. Just an observation
I used this as well. Never had a problem, however in commericial use - i do an average of 10,000 miles a month with loads up to 3000 lbs, with small engines like 5.2 and 4.6....the oil loss (consumption, no leaks or blowby) is higher than any mobil 1 or Pennzoil ultra platinum I've used
Caveat - I ran CNG in the past, now propane as a fuel. Higher combustion temps for propane
Driving around town? Use it. Keep an eye on the oil level.
To sum it up, no wear problems but this oil seems to eat itself
I'd like someone to post if they noticed the same thing
When ultra platinum went on half price sale I filled up a Sprinter with it, ya i save 50% over time but it was a little ridiculous buying $1000 worth of oil 🤣
Great info.

Don't know why autocorrect kept changing the spelling on the brand name.
Thanks
Thanks man!!! Going to start using Supertech oil in my 09 Chevy Tahoe! Save just a little bit of cash lol.
You are welcome! I still use it in my 2022 Silverado. Works great!
You are absolutely 100% correct buddy
I been used ST oil for ever they are pretty good oil and good prices
And Thanks for the great video
I use it my Toyota and my Subaru with excellent results, both have over 100 thousand miles on them!
I use the super tech in my 1994 silverado with 5.7 litre are better yet 350. But i not sure on the super tech oil filter????
Thanks for watching! I just use the A/C Delco filters on my GM'S. They are not that expensive.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I love the tip on the lawn mower engine oil. I’m going to try it on mine.

I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for commenting.
Walmart pulled most super tech from the shelf’s, said they would keep the boxed 12 quarts and the advanced
Why did they pull it?
Why they did that?
That is true I seen it for myself at my local Walmarts they are clearing it out
The only Supertech oil left is the advanced at $26.00 for a 5 qt. jug. More than most name brand oils.
you should buy the 12 quart box , would be cheaper then 5 quart jug and one quart ,, your get 2 oil changes per box
Me too. $18 a jug is a steal and every oil is pretty much made to meet a certain specification so honestly anything will work just as long as you change it regularly
Thanks for your video! I have been thinking Abt using this oil in my 2002 Honda civic.
It will work great! Thanks for watching and commenting.
I hadn't calculated mileage, but I love the slightly added improvement 🤷🏽♂️
BTW, my vehicle is an '01 Chevy Express conversion van with 125,xxx that runs smooth as silk👍🏽
Oil has little to do with power and torque. Oils main purpose is to reduce wear on your engine.
As long as it's got the ILSAC GF6A/API SP approval, it's good to go!
Rav4 97 3s-fe & Highlander 01 2az-fe
The Rav4 uses the Castrol OG green bottle high milage.
All oils get burned but reason why I bought them was because they WERE within 22-24$
But NOW the valvoline is 29-35$ at Walmart, Castrol is 22-27$, & Pennzoil is 25$ super tech used to be 17$ & its now 22$ & each of the 1 quart bottles are at least 8$
I've used Supertech for many many years but switched to Rural King's Providence fully synthetic oil recently. Made by Warren oil same as Walmart's oil and for only $17 per 5-gallon jug. No brainer for me same oil, less money.
That is a smoking good deal! I’ll have to check out Rural King next time I’m at my folks place. They have one close but none are close to me. (Sadly)
Can we use Supertech’s full synthetic (0W-40 or 5W-40) for euro vehicles (I have a 2012 ML350) instead of liquimoly or Mobil1?
Thank you for watching! Honestly, I do not know. I’ll have to check. Stay tuned for an answer in an upcoming FAQ section on a future vlog
Thanks for watching!
I’m glad I watched this video. I’m also glad I read the tons of excellent information contained in the comment section. Thanks everybody👍🏻🇺🇸. Subbed.
Thank you so much!
that 5w30 full synthetic 10,000mile oil is the exact oil i run in my 2019 5.7l hemi ram 1500. i used to run only castrol gtx for decades but some time ago (can't remember how many years it was) i switched over to supertech and never looked back. as for filters i got a deal on a case of 6 wix 57060xp filters for $60. i religiously change my oil every 4-5k miles. i don't care what anyone says and will NEVER have my mind changed.
I would like you to blow up a little bit of the transmission, I have a 2019 Chevy Silverado with 53000 miles starts to have problems when it is cold in the morning s
the ST used to be a bargain. Unfortunately now, it's not much cheaper than the Mobil 1 sold at WM.
Thanks for watching! Mobile 1 always turns brown on me. It’s strange.
Oil filter I use the wix or microgard I can get both of them from O’Reilly‘s auto part about 14.00 dollars for micro and the wix is 18.00 dollars
Thanks for letting me know! I’ll check them out. I need to do an oil change and don’t really have time to order more filters.
I have not been able to find Super Tech conventional oil in the past two years. Anyone know why Walmart has discontinued selling conventional oil?
I'll check out my WM and see about the conventional. I haven't looked in a while. Thanks for commenting!
Supertech went high on prices ... not buying it anymore ... it is like buying castrol or mobil one ...
Yeah, a few dollars difference is worth to buy better oil. Back when I was saving around $10 per oil change, I used supertech.
Castrol doesn’t flow like Mobil1 when it’s super cold. If your south of Iowa I guess it doesn’t matter as much. If your in Minnesota and North Dakota forget it.
$19.95 for ST 5W30 AT WM right now, $25.00 for Castrol.
Used Super Tech conventional oil & filters in '91 F-150 for 16 years, no problems.
I’m still rocking it to this day! Thanks for sharing.
I've used Supertech for years, it's great oil. Made by Warren I believe. But you won't find a 5 qt jug of it for $21.00 anymore. In some cases it's a little higher than the name brands
remember the good ole days when you got a 5ct jug of super tech synthetic for $17. LOL prices are waaay up now .
@@Uneducatedcapitalist you got that right bro
t's getting worse, it was about $27.00 the other day when I checked. Feb 2023.
@@jeremsgarage sad. I also remember the high mileage synthetic was the same price of $17. We're getting ripped off
I have to put 6.6 quarts of oil in my 2021 Hyundai sonata 2.5 smart stream. Naturally aspirated motor I put 0w-20 plus Lucas oil stabilizer I used to use the full synthetic but now I’ve bumped it up to advance full synthetic with supertech. Here’s what the oil looks like after almost 10,000 miles.I can’t upload a picture but it is fairly clean still
Excellent! Thanks for sharing!
Good video. Thanks.
You bet! Thanks for watching!
Been using ST and Kirkland oil since I saw the Project Farm video. Wasting money on Mobil 1 and Royal Purple makes no sense.
Filter however, I buy it from the stealership for $5 a pop.
Good stuff!! Really, almost any modern oils are up to the task. But I agree, OEM filters are best and cheap. (Usually)…thanks for watching!
meets the spec, good to go. totally agree, no idea why im watching.
I appreciate you watching and commenting. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for sharing
I went to get some oil this Friday, and most of it was sold out. Wth is going on?
What about their filters?
They are good! Just make sure they meet the spec for your vehicle.
