It has API SP and ILSAC GF-6A approval. For most modern engines it will be more than adequate. Also a full synthetic. Will change it at 5000 miles though.
In 90s Mobil discovered that castrol was using none synthetic base stock in their full synthetic oil. While Mobil was using true synthetic base stock. Mobil took castrol to court for false advertising and Mobil lost the case and from there all companies switched from synthetic base stock to none synthetic base stock but kept label the same. Yes it is false advertising and it is allowed. Unless person has questioning attitude they will fooled with false information in every aspect of their life.

In Germany due to Transparancy Law a Group lll oil could not be advertised as Full Synthetic. That may have changed as I have bought oil made in Germany stamped "FULL SYNTHETIC".

I agree. Even Mobil 1 says it has oil for up to 20,000 miles. Hell no! Maybe on older engines, which I still wouldn't recommend, but there's to much carbon deposits in any engine oil from a 10,000 or 20,000 mike run time.
3k miles in my regular oil change period on 5 vehicles without any issue. Super tech is a great motor oil so I use it with my modern cars more than 10 years 👌

I've used Supertech for many years, but higher viscosity than 0W. None of my cars are new enough to require something that thin. I would never stretch it to a 10k mile interval though, I don't care what they claim on the bottle.
That is exactly why I buy the Supertech Full Synthetic,... It's at least as good as anything else in all testing I have seen & at under $19 for 5 quarts it's excellent value for me to change often :)
The Analysis shows that with 4% fuel dilution on an already very thin oil, you're getting slightly more wear than what would be ideal, but offer no comparison to another 0W20 that was run for the same mileage. Huge TBN remaining suggests the oil has plenty of additive package... Get that engine up to temperature more often or run a heavier oil to deal with fuel dilution.

Direct injection engines seem to be the main ones having the fuel dilution problem. However, when we used E10 in our cars (not directly injected) for a while we noticed the fuel dilution increased dramatically and the rings got stuck. Fuel dilution can result in lubrication breaking down and increased oil use. As soon as we stopped using E10 the fuel dilution decreased. To unstick the rings we had to flush the engine a few times. Car companies insist that 5% fuel dilution is normal. Oil analysis companies are a lot less forgiving and they start to put warnings on the report if fuel exceeds 1 ~ 3%. 🙂

first you need a engine that is in good shape I have seen that oil run in a good engine and it was fine I use amsoil in everything but you have to be fair about it
Exactly that engine is worn ! Many people run that oil with analysis and have zero issues. Meets all API and ilsac specs . Not much different than other name brand oils.
I have 2019 RX350 and I use Costco 0w20 and change at 5k. It’s same as Super Tech. I’ve had zero issues. Don’t listen to everyone on the internet. Change your oil at 5k and you’ll be good.

What car engine did you test with. Oil dilution means gas is getting past the piston rings and mixing with your oil . Of course your going to get a negative report. 1.5 engines are notorious for this since manufactures went to forced injection and port injection. 🇺🇸 Its not the oil.
so thats the only decent oil? There are hundreds of oils. One of biggest problems is that 0-20 and 0-16 starts out pretty thin making for less friction but less protection. There are many recommended oils available globally and results from objective tests available from Piotr. Look him up.

@@justindad2240 I've a 2014 GMC Terrain (2.4L Ecotec) that run just over 3000 miles/8 months (using a Dexos1 5w30) and it has excessive Oil/Fuel Dilution, the TBN was down to 2.0, and the onboard OLM was at 54%... So for that Oil Change I don't want to guess what the wear/condition would be like at 1 year. If maintained my average another 4 months I'd have added another 1,500 miles (totaling about 4,500 miles/12 months). The Oil's additive package was already low at 3K and the fuel Dilution probably wouldn't be doing any favors... So far I'm thankful the 3K/8 month sample didn't show any significant/severe wear... Although the fuel Dilution might have been masking that. Hope to draw another sample in a few weeks ( @ 3 months/ maybe just about 3K miles) where I've avoided excess idle and less stop and go traffic, adding a few long Highway/Road Trips to hopefully "burn off"/reduce fuel dilution. Also been running some fuel system cleaner (besides Top Tier Detergent Gasolines) to keep the Injectors/Pump, etc. running optimally...
I have a 2010 Kia Sportage with the 2.7 liter V6. Bought it 7 years ago with 291,000 klms on it . I have been using Supertech 5W30 synthetic oil with oil changes at 10,000 klms intervals since purchasing the vehicle . It presently has 636,000 klms on it and still runs perfectly and never have to add oil between changes .
Can you mix different oil viscosities? I have an engine that burn loads of oil and the mechanic put 5W30 instead of the recommended 5W20. Can I just top it off each time with 5W20 until my next oil change? Or should I go for the viscosity that is in there?
An old saying "Cooking oil is better than no oil at all!!" Topping off with a different brand or viscosity will do no harm between oil changes. You might want too stick with the correct API grade.
No problem. I would use the same brand. I wouldnt recommend it but when I have gone to a different brand I didnt drain the oil . I dont drain oil. I just added the different brand the next time I changed the depth bypass filter.I dont normally generate used oil.
Yea amsoil is the best, not even a contest. If you can afford the $70k truck, u can afford the good oil. For my 2005 beater Toyota Prius, the dollar general oil is ok.
The funny thing is your TOYOTA Prius has the better engine, but most people don’t know that. They think that the more expensive vehicle should have the better engine but many times that’s not the case.

Name a car manufacturer who recommends changing your oil at 10K miles or more. That argument that conventional oil is garbage because it doesnt protect well when it has over 10K miles of use on it is just ridiculous.
Bmw, Mercedes and Toyota, Honda. European recommend 15k miles but full synthetic and Japanese 10k miles full synthetic oil too because conventional is just cannot protect against wear and oil consumption

I've run supertech oil in porsches, mustangs, challengers, and Subaru wrx's. I just change my oil often and I've never had an issue. Oil changes are cheap. Why go 10,000 Mi on the same oil?
Perhaps your engine is not 100% okay prior to you using supertech oil. Why would there be this level of fuel in it? Not sure your mileage on this engine , but could this be from "blowby" or beginnings of failed "head gasket"? If u changed it again using a lil more viscious weight oil & quality oil filter - I would be interested in seeing those results posted. STAY WELL
Walmart oil is cheap- always change at 6 months or 5000miles. Your engine is being contaminated with fuel. Recommended cautionary limit of 1.5 percent and a critical limit of less than 5 percent. When fuel levels are much higher than 5 percent, there is a risk of engine fire and engine damage. Is this oil sample from a direct injected engine?

I use it in my beater go to work car 05 Caddy srx, I never go past 2.500 with thus stuff, I've seen people putting it in relatively new vehicles, CRAZY 😅.
Supertech is at the same level as STP, Kirkland, O'Reilly's, Fram they are all house brand oils. The Prime brand they sell at sams club is worse as its recycled as are most bulk oils used by repair shops. Best thing you can do is change your oil every 4-5,000 miles if you can afford some mid quality oil from pennsoil, Valvoline, castrol thats nice but don't buy into this 20,000 mile amsoil, eneos, mobil 1, royal purple marketing.
The additive package in these oils is very low. Ive seen other analysis sheets of the Supertech oils and they are all really lean. They are the equivalent to a European C3 low saps with their ZDDP Levels. But detergents are also super low in these oils. Im used to seeing 1500-2000 calcium even in a C3 oil. The 0w40 oil I have in my engine right now has: -3500 calcium -1200 ZDDP -TBN above 10 -a dose of Moly and Boron on top of that I think those numbers were between 50-100 Its a true fully synthetic oil to so 100% Group 4 PAO nothing else in it I actually use an Ester Additive with this oil because pure PAO is actually suboptimal you want Ester in there because Seal Swell and PAO is very non polar it doesn't stick to metal surfaces well while Ester is very polar and adheres very well. That kind of high quality oil with a high detergent content, high TBN and plenty of ZDDP is basically my baseline. Next oil change I might go with the same oil but use Archoil 9200 V2 maybe because its so expensive or try either Mannol Ceramo Ester or Liqui Moly Ceratec. I dont see the reason to go for a cheaper lubrication package. You have to understand in my country you pay minimum 25€ for a 5L container of oil and the premium oils I like to run are around 40-50€. So to me there is no point in saving 20-30€ and having a cheap oil in my engine that will never perform as well as a premium oil with additives when I only need to change my oil every 12 months anyway. Yes there are cases where I advise to just buy a large container (20L most common size) of cheap oil and then get more frequent oil changes for less money. But I am not that case :)
Does the manufacturer say that your engine needs more additives than what is stated in the owners manual for typ of oil to use? If it say´s "API/SAE SN and that is what it says on the oil bottle then that is what you use. Follow the manual!
Strange, I’ve seen analysis summaries that shows that the SuperTech branded oils sold in the United States are as good as or even slightly better than many name brand oils including Mobile 1.
@@markwarnberg9504, while Super Tech can be sourced from one of three major distributors in the US, both the Super Tech and Kirkland oils that I have purchased were Warren Distributing products. They said so right on the packaging. Analyses I’ve seen show that both are basically identical to actually slightly better in additive content to regular Mobile 1.

Fuel dilution is not good for any engine regardless of the type of oil used or which manufacturer made the oil@@repairvehicle. If this is a Honda K24 engine, it is a known condition associated with frequent stop-and-go driving conditions.
Common sense would tell you that even if you COULD go to 10k intervals doesn’t mean you SHOULD. I have used super tech in my last car and changed oil every 4.5k miles using synthetic. Never had problems.

If you want people to keep replacing their vehicles {Such as a manufacturer would want} or getting their vehicle repaired {Such as an auto mechanic might want, not all of them, just some of them.} Go 7500 or more miles between oil changes. If you want your vehicle to last, change your oil at somewhere between 3000 and 5000 miles. Buying higher priced oil with the idea of leaving it in your vehicle for more miles is a bad bet. I know that it's just my opinion, but to me that's the opinion that counts. LOL.

I used this Walmart oil once and was no good. I noticed it's cheap and weak already and it's sensitive to gas and evaporations in the engine crank case it's deludes and breaks down faster than any other oils because It's already a very cheap oil and bad for your engine! Other oils stay strong and don't thin out and break down like that. It should be illegal to sell this oil. I would not use this oil on any engine or a lawn mower.

yea with those oils you gotta cut that in half. Change every 5k miles or 6 months.

The rings are wearing out and so is the engine.
If you change oil and filter every 3000 miles it don’t matter what oil you use. Often oil changes are more important than brand of oil.

Can you mix different oil viscosities? I have an engine that burn loads of oil and the mechanic put 5W30 instead of the recommended 5W20. Can I just top it off each time with 5W20 until my next oil change? Or should I go for the viscosity that is in there?

An old saying "Cooking oil is better than no oil at all!!" Topping off with a different brand or viscosity will do no harm between oil changes. You might want too stick with the correct API grade.

No problem. I would use the same brand. I wouldnt recommend it but when I have gone to a different brand I didnt drain the oil . I dont drain oil. I just added the different brand the next time I changed the depth bypass filter.I dont normally generate used oil.
Yea amsoil is the best, not even a contest. If you can afford the $70k truck, u can afford the good oil. For my 2005 beater Toyota Prius, the dollar general oil is ok.
If you can afford 3 oil changes with dollar oil, you can afford amsoil. Amsoil has 3 different levels of oils for every budget

if Supertech is not for modern engines, you need to do another comparison with Mobil One or any other brand. Maybe they have exactly the same lab result.

That argument that conventional oil is garbage because it doesnt protect well when it has over 10K miles of use on it is just ridiculous.
Bmw, Mercedes and Toyota, Honda. European recommend 15k miles but full synthetic and Japanese 10k miles full synthetic oil too because conventional is just cannot protect against wear and oil consumption
@@repairvehicle You mean 15,000km? That would be 9000miles. This is the Factory Limite, the small print say´s to change the oil and filter at 7,500km under hardd driving conditions which is pretty much all driving situations.
I've run supertech oil in porsches, mustangs, challengers, and Subaru wrx's. I just change my oil often and I've never had an issue. Oil changes are cheap. Why go 10,000 Mi on the same oil?

Perhaps your engine is not 100% okay prior to you using supertech oil. Why would there be this level of fuel in it? Not sure your mileage on this engine , but could this be from "blowby" or beginnings of failed "head gasket"? If u changed it again using a lil more viscious weight oil & quality oil filter - I would be interested in seeing those results posted.

Your engine is being contaminated with fuel. Recommended cautionary limit of 1.5 percent and a critical limit of less than 5 percent. When fuel levels are much higher than 5 percent, there is a risk of engine fire and engine damage.

I use it in my beater go to work car 05 Caddy srx, I never go past 2.500 with thus stuff, I've seen people putting it in relatively new vehicles, CRAZY 😅.
Supertech is at the same level as STP, Kirkland, O'Reilly's, Fram they are all house brand oils. The Prime brand they sell at sams club is worse as its recycled as are most bulk oils used by repair shops.
Best thing you can do is change your oil every 4-5,000 miles if you can afford some mid quality oil from pennsoil, Valvoline, castrol thats nice but don't buy into this 20,000 mile amsoil, eneos, mobil 1, royal purple marketing.

I use Super Tech blend 5W20 mix 1 quart of full synthetic so I get a good blend, change every 6 months.

The additive package in these oils is very low. Ive seen other analysis sheets of the Supertech oils and they are all really lean. They are the equivalent to a European C3 low saps with their ZDDP Levels. But detergents are also super low in these oils. Im used to seeing 1500-2000 calcium even in a C3 oil.
The 0w40 oil I have in my engine right now has:
-3500 calcium
-1200 ZDDP
-TBN above 10
-a dose of Moly and Boron on top of that I think those numbers were between 50-100
Its a true fully synthetic oil to so 100% Group 4 PAO nothing else in it I actually use an Ester Additive with this oil because pure PAO is actually suboptimal you want Ester in there because Seal Swell and PAO is very non polar it doesn't stick to metal surfaces well while Ester is very polar and adheres very well.
That kind of high quality oil with a high detergent content, high TBN and plenty of ZDDP is basically my baseline. Next oil change I might go with the same oil but use Archoil 9200 V2 maybe because its so expensive or try either Mannol Ceramo Ester or Liqui Moly Ceratec.
I dont see the reason to go for a cheaper lubrication package.
You have to understand in my country you pay minimum 25€ for a 5L container of oil and the premium oils I like to run are around 40-50€.
So to me there is no point in saving 20-30€ and having a cheap oil in my engine that will never perform as well as a premium oil with additives when I only need to change my oil every 12 months anyway.
Yes there are cases where I advise to just buy a large container (20L most common size) of cheap oil and then get more frequent oil changes for less money.
But I am not that case :)
Does the manufacturer say that your engine needs more additives than what is stated in the owners manual for typ of oil to use?
If it say´s "API/SAE SN and that is what it says on the oil bottle then that is what you use.

@@markwarnberg9504, while Super Tech can be sourced from one of three major distributors in the US, both the Super Tech and Kirkland oils that I have purchased were Warren Distributing products. They said so right on the packaging. Analyses I’ve seen show that both are basically identical to actually slightly better in additive content to regular Mobile 1.

Common sense would tell you that even if you COULD go to 10k intervals doesn’t mean you SHOULD. I have used super tech in my last car and changed oil every 4.5k miles using synthetic. Never had problems.

If you want people to keep replacing their vehicles {Such as a manufacturer would want} or getting their vehicle repaired {Such as an auto mechanic might want, not all of them, just some of them.} Go 7500 or more miles between oil changes. If you want your vehicle to last, change your oil at somewhere between 3000 and 5000 miles. Buying higher priced oil with the idea of leaving it in your vehicle for more miles is a bad bet. I know that it's just my opinion, but to me that's the opinion that counts. LOL.

I used this Walmart oil once and was no good. I noticed it's cheap and weak already and it's sensitive to gas and evaporations in the engine crank case it's deludes and breaks down faster than any other oils because It's already a very cheap oil and bad for your engine! Other oils stay strong and don't thin out and break down like that. It should be illegal to sell this oil. I would not use this oil on any engine or a lawn mower.
