  • The NZXT H510 is the Most popular computer case on Amazon.com. Why are Sooo many people buying this case. Let’s find out.
    What’s up everyone, Erik here and welcome to Hardware For Gamers. The dimensions of the H510 are 46cm Height, by 21 cm Width, by 43 cm Depth. NZXT does provide a small box that has the screws and fittings in it, there are also some zip ties, NZXT also includes a headset splitter, and there is double sided booklet that illustrates pretty much nothing and is pretty much a waste of paper. Now speaking of waste everything in the box has been separated out into there own little baggies so there is quite a bit of plastic waste here. Which is not cool NZXT.

    The splitout adapter thing for the front panel is to change the function of the power LED, basically. Some people don't like that it defaults to single-light HDD activity (though I think it's rad, configure my own raspberry pi cases to have a similar behaviour.

    probably because Amazon is dumping it for $65. The hard drive tray has 4 brackets on top of it to mount a third hard drive. It turns out that the drives are so close together the middle one gets too hot to operate for very long. It kept giving me warning lights in Crystal Disk info. I ended up being glad the tabs were there or it would have been a single drive cage. The rear of the case where the cards screwed in was made of very soft metal and my graphics card ended up getting stripped out before the build was even done. Also the front panel ports are the cheapest I have encountered on this case. The USB-C port would hardly accept a plug like it was made of rusty aluminum or galvanized metal. Many times it wouldn't even connect. I have seen videos where content creators have been building rigs and have gone to just set the glass side panel down on the ground to continue working and it shattered in their hands. It also has the worst mechanism to lock it, very hard to make it stay on.
    Case makers are moving away, in unison from 5.25" DVD bays to make room for radiators and it makes me sad because even if you don't have a DVD drive there are many other things you can do with them. I am not into water cooling because I use Ryzen chips and they come with a perfectly good CPU cooler in the box. There are so many options for a 5.25" tray. There are drive fan controlers, extra IO ports, Multi SSD or NVME bays and more swappable 3.5" drive bays. The list is exhausting. Drive manufactures shouldn't dictate the monotony of your case for the next 5 years.
    I hated this case and unasembled it and moved to the 10 year old proven-to-last Haf XB EVO after just 2 months. All this room make me feel like I have all the room in the world plus even more expandabilty

    • @rockstopsthetraffic
      @rockstopsthetraffic 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used to be into having all those optical drive bays, had an NZXT Phantom for the longest time... But I literally never used them, even the DVD drive, for the absolute longest time. Bought this cheaper, smaller H510 case to rehouse that machine in, and I think I'll be happy with it.
      I have a portable DVD drive in case I really do need to read a disk, but otherwise I like the idea of saving more space inside the case.

    • @HardwareForGamers
      @HardwareForGamers  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@anassechaoui4220 likely should yes. As I showed in the GPU temperature testing adding front intake fans raised GPU temp. now it really does come down to your system and how it's set up. So check the CPU and GPU temps under a normal load. if the GPU temp is high try unplugging the front intakes and retest.

    • @BoothTheGrey
      @BoothTheGrey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@anassechaoui4220 Just try to think as air ;) - the air does NOT come from the front where the front fans pushes because the front panel is completely closed. The incoming air comes from the front right where you see the thin long part with the little holes.
      From there the air comes in and then has to turn 90 degrees. If you push directly in front of this curve... it will NOT lead to increase the incoming air - it will only accelerate the air and therefor create some weird air turbulences.
      Like "Hardware for Gamers" said correctly to increase the incoming air you have to increase the underpressure by turning up the top and rear fan and push more air out of the case. THEN you can use a slow push from the front fans to accelerate the air which lead to a slight better cooling.
      But you should buy fans for top and rear where you can individual control the fan rotation. And then you have to test a lot to create a good balance.
      But... the further cooling effect by the two front fans will be always rather small. You can also just enhance the rear+top fans by changing to other models and this alone should increase the cooling.

      It looks like it would be terrible for air flow but it is ok... Don't expect amazing temperatures.
      I have an rx 580 and in order to keep the temperature around 75 degrees I have to ramp the fans up to 3000 ish rpm, which is due to the poor airflow of the case.
      Given the choice, I would definitely choose a case with a mesh front, not a solid front. Having a solid front for the aesthetic really isn't worth it when it comes to gaming; the temperatures may be a little toasty and the fans will get very loud.
      Also due to the design of the case (negative pressure) it gets dusty pretty quickly.

    this case pisses me off because It has literally no airflow

    • @BoothTheGrey
      @BoothTheGrey 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which is literally wrong - it doesnt have the best airflow but of course it does have airflow.
      Incoming air from the front side (and probably bottom also) - outgoing to top and rear. Probably the front fans wont do that much cause incoming air comes from the front side - not directly front. So air has to turn 90 degrees. To push the air by additional fans from front... does not seem to increase the incoming air from the front side and the results seem to underline this. The front fans only can help pushing the air if the underpressure by the outgoing fans will get higher. So you have to manually push the rear und top fan if you put front fans in there. So both top and rear should be replaced by better ones. The rear only can be 120mm - the top can be a 140mm. And you should use fans with flexible rotation so you can push them by increase the rotation via fan control (in bios or windows). You probably have to test a lot to find the best combination.
      So yes - of course there is airflow but the chassis is not build for very best airflow and best cooling. So in my opinion no overclocking chassis and I also would not put the most power consumpting CPU/Graphics combination in there.
      I am going to buy this chassis and will use it with an Ryzen 5600X (65 watt) and an RX 6600 XT (170 watt). So both parts are only medium in power usage and therefor medium in heat producing. Maybe I am going to test with the fan configuration.

      @@BoothTheGrey do you think removing pci slot covers help with airflow ? Mainly the ones in front of the gpu. My gpu was getting hot after long gaming sessions so i added a single bottom front intake fan against recommendations and it actually helped a ton for gpu and mobo temps. Like 7-10 degrees. So will opening pci slots help the bottom front intake fan exhaust that air for better airflow ?
