  • NZXT's H510 series case replaces the NZXT H500. In this review, we're looking at the NZXT H510 Elite for thermals, build quality, and value.

In this review, we're looking at NZXT's H510 Elite, which is an update H500 series case that has more RGB LEDs and glass. These two things, naturally, increase the price by $100 MSRP. In today's review and benchmark of the H510 Elite, we'll look at the thermal and acoustic performance, build quality, and more, but also talk about NZXT's post-launch change (and test that, too).

I think the main gimmick for nzxt is that it's builder friendly (even though they removed the ssd cages in the front). However I still believe the case should cost around 120 at most since I'm assuming the smart device is around like 30-50 bucks and the aesthetic changes

Just built a computer with the H510 Elite. Was such a nice build to do, first build I had done since my actual first build 10 years ago.
So far it's a billion times cooler than my last pc. I'm not really seeing the same thermals on the CPU as are being listed here, same with the GPU, and I run the fans on silent.
Also, I didn't have any of the build issues that you guys mentioned, no warping, no bad screws etc.
The problem here personally, is that you are super builders, who build constantly, think about us lot who don't buy often and don't go over the top overclocking.
This Case is fucking awesome and I love it!

After using this case for about 3 months here are some of my observations - although the front seems blocked the mesh to the right does a good enough job on ensuring good airflow "especially" if you pair it with the 280mm NZXT Kraken. I've had no problems with overheating is even the most rigorous stress testing (conducted in 30-degree ambient temperature with no fans or air conditioning). I get idle temps of 26-28 degrees on the CPU and 30-33 degrees on the GPU and full stress temps of 60-65 degrees on the CPU and 68-75 degrees on the GPU.
Bear in mind I live in India where atmospheric temperature is usually in the 30 C

It must suck to have to give reviews that have a negative vibe when you're already in direct contact with the manufacturer and know that they, to one degree or another, truly value your feedback. It takes guts because you know that, no matter how objective you are, your review will have some sort of a "bad guy" vibe. But the upside is if the manufacturer listens to your advice, everyone eventually wins. Kudos!

I've got an AIO on my CPU and a hybrid 1080ti so not apples to apples. Case cools great with my configuration, 2 x 120 intake in front, 1 x 120 exhaust rear. Just gamed for 2 hours and my 9700k never breached 70c, while the GPU stayed below 62. Well i bought this case in 2020, and Im happy I did. They changed up the fans making 3 of them 240 mm and the rear exhaust a 120. The rad support is still lacking but it works, I have 1 long rad (idk the lenght off the top of my head sorry) and i have the 240mm rad on the exhaust, so thermals are quite good since Im watercooled. Building in this case though was a pain I wont lie it took me 4 hours to take everything out of my old case and put it in this one. None the less this case is a huge upgrade from my 2015 cosair crystal I think it was called. It looks great and I have better idle temps and good temps under workloads. I definatly havent had a super preimum case and I wouldnt classify this case as such, but again it was a huge upgrade for me and a few things have changed since this reveiw.

Funny thing I'm doing a large rebuild over the next three months. I need
3 5.25 bays (still occasionally use optical and having two 2.5/3.5 bay
converters to use external cold storage drives as clone disks and
inserting them like floppies is a massive convenience) and at least 6
    3.5 internals (4 3.5 mechanical and 3 2.5 SSDs until storage upgrades
later this year). I also will be doing both liquid CPU and GPU cooling.
Along with dust filters and good front IO (e.g. four USB ports, ideally
two type C but whatever) I came across the Phanteks Enthoo Pro TG
PH-ES614PTG_BK on Newegg. My current case is a Fractal Design which is
awesome though their newer full ATX cases don't support what I need (at
least BEFORE I upgrade my storage which will be 3xNVMe and 2x12TB
mechanical) though I really liked their attention to detail. Generally
around the $100 mark is where quality really starts to kick in. I know
my requirements are heavy (web development, video encoding, gaming and
memes for the lulz) so finding a case that fits my needs isn't easy. My
biggest question now is if the best I can fit is a top max 420mm and
bottom max 240mm radiators which should I use for the CPU and which for
the GPU? While a lot of people like LEDs (they are nice) if I can't
easily shut them off it's a deal-killer for me though if they are useful
(e.g. a light for working in an otherwise hard to light case interior
when doing internally) they are welcomed.

  • @JapanJuan

I have the H510 elite, I also noticed the "turbulent" noise coming from the fans, specially the front top one at 100% PWM. It kind of sounds like it's choking or like the RPM is fluctuating. I even thought that it was failing, but the noise went away when I opened the case.
I also noticed that spinning the fans faster than 20%, didn't make any difference in the air coming out the back and in temperatures. The rear top exhaust fan also made a weird noise when spinning at 100%, it sounded like a low pitched vibration.
I replaced the rear and top fans with AER P static pressure fans and it made a big difference in temps and noise. The turbulent noise is gone and there's way more air blowing out the back and top of the case. Temps dropped about 5 to 6 degrees in average too. I think NZXT should have these fans as default on their cases.
In my opinion, looks like the stock AER F fans cannot push air through the case's exhaust holes.

The H700 cases have a mini puck built into the back but I guess the H500 cases don't

I cannot accept defeat so easily. I watched the full video, went out and bought the h510 Elite anyway. It does come with the top 140mm exhaust now but I also modded the case to accept a x63 Kraken AIO sandwiched between pairs of Aer RGB and Aer static pressure fans for push/pull. It’s fucken ridiculous, it’s fucken expensive BUT it works really good now and looks nice in my living room.

Grab the H500 and some Antec Prism fans - $80 for a 5 pack of addressable ring fans!

@ugaaa5 explain how it's garbage. That's the same cost roughly as most non-rgb fans like fractal hp and phanteks 120mm fans. The antec fans have rubber dampers and fluid dynamic bearings.

@ugaaa5 the Antec fans are pretty decent and very cheap compared to overpriced Corsair fans available here for around $130, that too just three fans. Both are ARGBs.

I don't know if you guys take requests, but Corsair just released a new case - iCUE 220T RGB Airflow - and I'd love to see a full review on it and compared to the Meshify C (I think they clearly are putting their own spin on the philosophy behind the Meshify C)

Corsair? I can guess. Ready? Overpriced trash. Even if it's a good performer thermally, don't buy it because you can get more performance for less money with another case.

@@mjc0961 You must be fun at parties.
The case is ~$100 and comes with 3 of Corsair's new RGB fans. It actually looks very competitively priced for what it offers, but I want to know the thermal performance and what-not before I consider it. As much as I love Science Studio, Greg's review just didn't cut it for me and no other big channels have covered it yet as far as I've seen.
Thanks for the input though, I'll be sure to consider it when the time comes to choose a case for my new build :P

I see this trope ALL the time now with cases... I hate it so much. It ruins otherwise decent designs so often.

Kind of disappointed GN doesn't do optimized fan setups in their reviews. I've seen it in reviews in the past and on this. I want to see them move the front fans from inside that glass section to the other side of the mount which would put it inside the case and would give it another inch from the front panel. Would love to see a category of testing just labeled as "optimized" where they look at the case from the standpoint of a typical builder that's going to REMOVE the stock fans and buy their own. I want to see both ends of the spectrum, not just "this is how the case ships"

I'm going to be obnoxious and pedantic: the "heat death of the universe" is NOT death BY heat, but rather the lack of heat. It is the death of all heat and energy in the universe, which would stop entropy and end life.
Therefore, the Bitfenix Enso is a scale model of the direct opposite of the heat death of the universe.
Thanks for reading my pedantic rant.
