Never had issues with my bmw 4 cylinder manifold coming loose at the head flange, but always used new bmw hardware and oe manifold gaskets.

What's up man, can i find the details on your turbo m54 somewhere? Like headbolts(studs) gasket etc.

what size turbos do you usually recommend for bottom mount setups?
That totally depends on the type of power and response you want plus what chassis you are installing the engine in.
m54b30 e46 ~high 300s low 400s wheel. response wise im not certain yet.
@@davidrichards5849 3076 is a great size for that. Good boost by 3000rpm and can make 400whp
Where did you get that manifold?
It’s made by boostlogic. Probably no longer made it’s probably 15 years old
They come apart via unplanned disassembly every time on their own

No I don't have any qualifications
Certain m54's won't have all 24 exhaust studs or even holes drilled for the rest of them. They will have a little dimple where you can drill and tap a hole for the stud however. Later e46's and the earlier 04/05 e60 525i/530i with the m54 will be like this.
