I am always leery about ramming a bolt into a casted hole when it is capped like your example. I usually clean the threads of the cast iron and the bolt as well as double check the parts manual to ensure the correct bolt length is used.

Did you consider brazing that cast?

I just bought the same model trencher at auction. Your other videos helped. I had to replace all the bearings on auger, gear box etc. But without a doubt the hardest part was getting the chain back on. Mine fought me the whole time.

This is the exact same issue I am having except if I push the primer when the truck starts to die it will keep running, did you try to do this? i have an 03 with fass 165 and a sump kit. no visisble leaks anywhere that I can see. Thanks.

Great fix, will do the job and get the machine back to work which is all that counts and the addition of paint to finish the job off, well done

Good job, great repair. The price of parts may be bad over there but here in Australia they are just ludicrously expensive, in some cases it’s cheaper to machine what’s possible in house to keep things in the ball park or even have a parts machine when you can pick them up.

Sorry mate, don’t even know your name but I’m really enjoying your channel and the content, seems like I spent the first half of my farming career buying old equipment and fixing it up but I always knew what I was working with then and how to address any problems. I think at $2500 you got a great deal and leaves you wiggle room to install decent parts. Please keep up the interesting commentaries, I’m sure we all glee useful information. Thanks for posting

Just some things I'll note, having been around a 350 all my life. 0.01c Being a direct injection engine, without a turbo, and analog fuel system. Makes them unusually loud, for a 4 stroke. . The track pads are something like 1-1/8 tall when new, so id say there functional but really worn out. In terms of traction, pulling logs, using a ripper or serious dirt moving. There supriseingly efficient as they have the ability to change directions of a hydrostatic, but are actually direct drive. After you get it going and run it a few hours steady you will know if theres slip in the power reverser. . Its basically a automatic transmission, thats 1 to1 in bolth directions, and a clutch in place of a torque converter. Everything else is as if its a regular gear drive setup. . For are 350 with a winch on the rear, any time the reverser is in forward. The winch has power, so you can line in stationary or driving forward. Pto Must be engaged to free spool out. Winch control lever would be on right hand side of seat basically against your leg, if it has any remaining parts. Ripper, winch, backhoe and ripper with small winch are the configurations ive seen. . Usually backhoes are on a frunt end loader version of a 350 Ive also seen a few 450s with a loader version.
