I priced them and decided I'll have to make one. Then I priced the competition and decided I wasn't as into milling heads as I'd thought I was.
400 hp for m50 is a limit for m52tu/m54 rods with very good tune. M50NV rods and pistons are 500 hp limited but not for long. if you suspect lean condition just have a look on cylinder wall. It should have some aliminium on it before disaster.
Cylinders are looking great I was just inspecting them again last night. I just cant see a rod breaking for no reason thats why I am leaning towards some kind of piston failure
I have the same mill at work that’s making the same noise just not as severe and a little more knocking sounds and this was great to see what all the disassembly entails, thank you, also thanks for showing that timing app, I was gonna use a gun but that is nice n easy, great job my friend!! And again thank you!
No problem good luck!
What do I need to do if my fuel primer pump is puking out diesel around the plunger? I changed it about a year ago and it started doing the same thing within a few months so I changed it again under warranty and it's doing it again? Any thoughts?
Here's how to rebuild it th-cam.com/video/saooTN1DMmw/w-d-xo.html But they are problematic. Mine leaked twice in a pretty short time so I eliminated it and put a cat filter block on it. Works great but you lose the priming function which would be problematic without a lift pump or if a lift pump fails
I used to do this with my 1984 Pontiac Parisienne 305 and yes it made a difference at highway speeds, and it did sound way cooler.
Turned out ok
Thank you, I found another video where they used an M12 1.75 tap. I just got back from a friend’s house who loaned me a tap so hopefully more progress tomorrow. Thanks for your video which is a great help.
Couldn’t get the M12 to start so tried a 7/16 - 20 that seemed to tap pretty good but the threads didn’t hold :( I’ll have to go buy a tapered M12 and try again.
Great looking neon. Definitely an improvement from how it did look.
Is the center hole where you used a bolt to pull rotor after removing the stator supposed to be threaded? My Generac 7550 EXL is a smooth tube?
I can’t remember if I tapped this one or not but yeah some models have an empty hole you need to thread yourself. Talk about a cheap ass design
Changing all the hoses "while you are in there" is smart. besides, they way prices are going up, the hose will cost more next year. So you will be money ahead...
You have the stem in the wrong place. Can't block the point of the drop center with the stem. On or off you don't want the bead on the stem
Makes sense in hindsight. Thanks
Good thing to keep in mind if you ever do tires with tire pressure monitors as well. It will destroy the sensor and possibly tear a bead
Yo, spankRanch pull a tachometer signal from your alternator if you need it another way
Great point! Im sure ill end up going that way on one of these projects.
I tried this when these handbrakes first were released and nothing I tried held the pressure overnight. I tried what someone else mentions using some type of click ratchet lock to hold the hydro overnight but they all manage to leak off pressure over time so it’s viable for a street car. Ended up going back to new cables which helped out a lot and for the e36 turners sells a handbrake lockup lever arm for the rear drums which changes the pickup point so it’s a much more aggressive bite and that seems to be the trick. I’m not sure if that’s similar if you can make it fit for the e39 but it’s possible with the machines you got access to 🤗
Thanks for stopping by! I havent been drifting this car much so I am back to factory handbrake now for street use. It would be nice to have both at some point. With the E36 I used to use an extended handle and the factory parking brake shoes for drifting. It did work for some time but eventually after hard use it started to tear up the drum hardware
You made a comment about the front radiator core support being from a 540i and possibility of it being a different condenser and varrying refrigerant charge levels. I know for sure that on my 95m3 my original ac label had a different grams/lb value for the charge level wish I had a better reference to that number before I scraped that support, but basically the junk yard support that I used at the time I remember had a differnt sticker gram value and that too got forgotten about before going in the paint booth lol. The sticker I that I’m using currently came in the box for the oem condenser that I bought during the entire process that was new old stock from some eBay store in Egypt. So I really don’t know what the best answer is to the question 😅
Yeah thats okay. I typically charge by pressures anyway. Cars are a bit forgiving when it comes to refrigerant capacity. As long as your pretty close its going to be okay.
I believe the Bentley manual says the vanos should degree the cam about 12.5 degrees if I’m not remembering correctly and they show how to measure it setting up either a dial in dictator type of angle gauge and observing the movement of the cam while engaging it with the lone wolf 3000 just like you did 😊
I have used that paint twice on a car. Definitely use the hardener, and keep it waxed. It will sun fade (at least with some colors) I used yellow and black the yellow faded noticeably after sitting out one winter. The black dulled and greyed fairly noticeably after a couple years (garage kept all year long).
Ouch! Yeah thats what its sounding like, this thing might be pink soon enough. Im going to keep it waxed and just see what happens.
Looks good can’t believe there’d match swear there was an original red color for the neon in that red color
Your shop is a mess. Your toolbox is a mess and you look like a bum. Just my opinion why would you do a video when you didn’t take time to clean the area
Productivity comes first. Thanks for wasting your time on my channel!
We are particularly fond of the reddish accents on the tires. It does not look like a fire extinguisher that was hit by a train.
I was like, they're going to know, your tires are red.
Put a Fass fuel system in all diesel trucks Don’t let your diesel feel get below half a tank and use a fuel additive do your maintenance
Very creative! Nice job
You sure put a lot of work into a car that’s head gasket is due to blow any second. it’s rare to find a neon still running. If you’re gonna paint a turd, why not try polishing it too? 😂
Paint is just hard enough to polish now! And don’t underestimate the amount of K Seal I’ll dump into this radiator if this head gasket wants to act up
Nice work buddy
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice work on the repairs, replacing those hoses is money well spent :) When do you plan on taking it to your cabin?
Thanks! Maybe February I’ll have it to a point where she’s ready to live in the wilderness
Man you really have become one of my favorite TH-camrs. I have a bunch of old equipment as well that I use on my farm and am constantly working on them. It’s nice to get a different perspective on how other people do things and learn some new tricks along the way. You’re a really great commentator while you work as well. Love it man, keep em coming!
Thank you, that means a lot! Keep that old equipment running!
surplus center has premade hydraulic hoses in stock along with seats for equipment. I did the loader hoses on my old model c Dynahoe and it wasn't that expensive.
We did old ford wrecker blue white. Awesome
How long ago? Any fading yet?
Great video
Thanks!
Great video as always, thanks brother. Keeping us entertained and teaching at the same time.
Thanks. Always trying to find a balance between talking and doing
@ your doing an awesome job buddy, keep it up.
First backhoe I ever ran good hoe back in the day.
Hey ! great to tag along as you fix up this JD410. I just spent $280.00 for 2 longer hoses on my hoe (ouch!); so Ican tell you have invested some coin for all those 31 hoses and the time to change all of them. I find if a tire is meant to be tubeless keep it that way if you can. Since your machine has the extendo-hoe a thumb will be tricky; suggestion for that is :Wain Roy Jaw Bucket. You the man! -cheers
Thanks! I’ve been looking for a jaw bucket. Hard to find and pricy but man they look handy. I have an idea on how to build a real main pin thumb that follows the bucket but it’s going to be a job. Should be interesting to try
How is there no comment on the morning doozer here.. A lot of great ideas stem from the porcelain thrown!
Good question! It’s my favorite time to read technical documentation
The answer is NO it's a pile of crap farm tractor they turned into a backhoe. It was gutless, poor design, poor transmission, poor hydraulics, engines were crap
Maybe. But I think for the work I have lined up it’s going to do the trick
@spankranchgarage hope it's not too extensive, or it will be expensive. Had a 410 for about a month, it was horrible, but I had run real TLB to compare with
I don’t have much TLB experience outside of a case 590 and this. The lack of a torque converter sucks but otherwise I don’t notice too much of a difference. The rear axle housings are def farm tractor and look smaller than case, but I doubt I’ll ever break them. What kind of differences do you see?
@spankranchgarage The engine is gutless. No torque converter Tractor transmission too complicated for a TLB The hydraulics are slow and with that dog of an engine not very powerful when it came to a challenge. Borrowed a 510, which was better but still the same problems just a bigger unit. Eventually bought an Allis Chalmers 715C which lacks some of the creature comforts of a newer 580, but it's crazy powerful, almost too much so. It's the first backhoe I ever used that is impossible to anchor while digging, the hoe will drag the tractor
I cant complain about the engine. It handles hard digging without effort. The only time its underpowered is when driving in 7th and 8th gear on a grade. BUT I have pretty low standards on how equipment should operate. I put all my utilities in (plus septic system) with a bobcat skidsteer backhoe attachment. Its even worse to operate, but its better than a shovel.
👍🏻
Oh yes oh yes
❤😂❤🎉😢😮🎉❤
I am working on a 410 myself. where did you find the seat I have mine out of the machine rebuilding the swivel. I do need a new seat, the ks. Don Indiana
Hey Don. I got it from Vevor for 125 dollars delivered. Fits okay and is comfortable enough
Use some soap man
If you would use some tire grease, or some Very soapy water will allow those tires so much easier. Save some GRUNT work. 😁😁😁
I did put tire lube on them but it’s not super visable in the video. More lube is better!
I loved my tonka toys when I was a kid too! Good stuff 👌
Going through the same thing on my JD 500C backhoe and I’m already at 75% of the hoses and at about $850. Where did you get that seat, I need another one as well?
It’s from Vevor. 125 bucks shipped. Yeah I’m expecting about 1200 in hoses when this is all said and done
Really like the channel man I own a 86 case backhoe myself but man from experience if you got a big job you can rent a small mini x for 250$ a weekend and get so much more done in the time you have
I agree a mini would be much faster. Part of my worry is the remoteness of the property I’m working on. Delivery and pickup is a problem if I can even get a company out here to deliver one. If I can get a few years out of this backhoe I think I can justify my own excavator. Fingers crossed
Seeing your newly modded buggy.. it may huge been better to just turbo and upgrade that engine. It was a beast
Loosen the handle nut for the hoe sticks and you can change the position of the handles temporarily until you put new pins in. There adjustable. Nice work as usual. Wish my 410 was an extenda hoe, would be easier to clean up around the bank of my lake...
That’s a great idea thanks for that! Yeah the extebdahoe was a big part of why I bought this one. Working on the mountain the extra reach will be nice to cleanup my trails.
@spankranchgarage No problem. Used mine to clear a forested lot to build my pole barn. Come spring it will be used for trail building and pond dam repairs!
I recently paid $105 for a 2' hose!
Ouch! But I’m not suprised I noticed they get pricy as diameter goes up. 3/4 hose was about 75% more expensive than 1/2 in the same length
Awesome video!
Your videos are killer man you do such a great job! Need an Andrew fable electric grease gun throw. How many tubes of grease did you use???
Every time I pick that thing up I wonder if it will crap out and I will be throwing it. This machine takes like a tube and a half to grease
The time you get thru with it it's going to be new again
Good video man
Thanks for the visit
4wd makes a hell of a difference when it comes to usen the loader
Yeah more front weight would be great
