Definitely not as much as I ought to. I like fish, but try to avoid farmed fish such as the fake Salmon. I did have some herring last weekend though, a fish I hated when I was a kid. Now I find it to be a delicacy.
I'm a carnivore who LOVES fish! Often, my first meal of the day is what I named "viking muesli". It is a mix of a can of sardines (in water), a can of mackerel (in own juice), 10 grams of butter and three egg yolks. I enjoy herring and wild caught salmon as well. Couldn't live without these fish! Thank you for all the info, Kait!
I eat one can of water packed sardines a day for breakfast. A combination of ground beef, eggs, turkey bacon, turkey Canadian bacon, wild caught Salmon, tuna, sometimes a little cheese but only with eggs for my second and last meal at 4:00 or 5:00 in the evening. That small can of sardines is so nutritionally dense that I can't even think of eating again for 10 - 12 hours. The daily sardines balance my omega 3's and 6's...bonus sardines have one of the lowest mercury levels, almost non exsisttant. 4:44
Great video, I eat about 7 ounces of wild caught salmon roughly 6 days a week for the last year and a half and my mercury blood test I had done 1 month ago came back very low (less than 2.5) so don't be fooled by the FDA suggestions that you should only 8 to 12 ounces per week Salmon is loaded with omega 3 and almost no omega 6. Super low in mercury. Did the blood test just to see for myself.
Hi Kait! I wanted to share a recipe of something I have been makin'. I'm on an OMAD and STRICTLY carnivore with Monday all day fasting! It's a 3 day - "fish casserole" kind of creation. Consists of a can of Albacore tuna in spring water, a can of sardines - wild caught in water and a vacuum packed large piece of wild caught alaskan salmon (coho or sockeye) from Trader Joes, all cooked on my outside covered grille. I put the salmon on a foil boat out on the covered grille and while its cookin', I make a foil boat platter with about 20" of foil, folded long way in1/2 and then cup up the outer edge (about an inch) to make a boat. Then scoup in the tuna (after draining water) and the anchovies -drained- and break up it all and stir it up. After the salmon cooks (about 15 minutes) I scoup it into the mixture and break it all up and stir it in. Then I scoup it all into the foil boat and flatten it out and put a couple scoups of beef tallow (fat) on top for oil. Then back in to the grille for about 10 -15 more minutes. But I also make about 6 local free range raw eggs whipped in a bowl and pour it on top and kind of stir it in. In 10 minutes I have a 3 day casserole that I divide in three and last me for 3 meals (days)! It only comes to about $5 per day to eat! It's awesome!!
On my carnivore 80% of meat comes from fish, rest from beef/pork (I have distaste for meat). Then of course a lot of eggs, ghee, butter, cheese, ... I admit however that beef/pork is better for my constipation problem, but I'm fine as I currently am. Carnivore solved my lifelong problem with constipation.
Carnivore also fixed my lifelong constipation! (Well, animal-based. I still occasionally have bread, jam and pasta, but I'd say they're 40% of my diet now, instead of 90%!)
@Li Lu As they say it is not because of what it is in meat but what it is NOT. :-) Plants can't run, do not have strong teeth, ... great majority of them have so developed through entire history true chemical poison arsenals for protection. :-)
@@Selrisitai Glad to hear you can combine it. When I eat carnivore for a few weeks I feel better, but if I then eat any bread my gut goes crazy ( I will spare you the details). So instead I do ketovore (heavy on meats, with some low-carb plants) . That seems to be protective for me for situations where I have to divert from the diet

Seafood is very close to my heart, great presentation Kait. Loved the selenium angle Kait, it's a good chelator of both mercury, cadmium and to a lesser extent with other metals. An old 1984 study explains how detoxification is dependent on the metabolic reduction of selenium to hydrogen selenide with sulfur amino acids cysteine and methionine, I have also found some other mechanism between selenium and taurine as well. Selenide combines with heavy metal ions, but in a highly inflammatory environment where there is too much reactivity, think SAD diet, this binding can be compromised, another good reason not to eat inflammatory foods.
On my lion diet/omad for the past 2 years, i eat beef, lamb, oxitails, bone marrow wild cought salmon, muscels, sardines only in water ( no oils). and there is no down side, becouse i need my omega 3 fatty acid. I don't like pork and chicken, only chicken skins. At 53 i feel much healthier than i was at 23. I am not worrie about the mercury toxicity. I love my high selienium❤
I eat lots of fish, mostly wild caught tinned. I eat prawns once a week. Years ago I didn't like any 'fishy' tasting fish, haha, like most people, but that's not the case anymore. I now love Anchovies and eat them with chopsticks (no stinky fingers!). It s a shame we can only get farmed Salmon here in Australia. Another great video, thanks..
Does the quality of oysters matter the same way it matters in ruminant animals? I grew up 4 miles from the ocean, so seafood is a staple in my carnivore diet. Thanks, Kait. 🤙🏻

Salmon twice a week but can't get "wild caught" so farmed will have to do despite it not being optimal... rest is pork, beef and lamb .... always go for the fattiest cuts now too (and 100g lambs liver once a week)
