Glad to hear that Brandon is a HUGE Star Wars fan. I am too. I've read over 73 of the Disney Canon novels (and own most all the Adult and YA novels, and some of the Middle Grade novels). I am also reading the Extended Universe/Legends novels, and have read 87 (currently reading my 88th, Karen Miller's Clone Wars Gambit, second novel in her duology, called Siege. It is based on Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker...shortly after Ahsoka Tano became Anakin's padawan). I love the connectivity and consistency in the Disney Canon, but feel that the originality of the Extended Universe/Legends books were amazing. The frustrating part (for me), was that from book to book, author to author, the facts changed and not much ties perfectly to the other books (even within an author's own books), and forget about between authors. I own all the books in the Extended Universe, and am currently working my way forward in the Timeline (in universe). I've read a lot of the most famous books already, but felt it would be a good thing to read it chronologically (in world), so as to get the FULL picture. I'm currently in The Rise of the Empire (Prequel era) at the moment (The Clone Wars) and just having a blast. Thank you for doing this video. Really enjoyed it.
Wow! That's impressive. I'm reading through the X-Wing series right now (currently on book 2). I totally get what you mean about inconsistency of the legends books. But they are fun to read.
Wholeheartedly agree with all the Thrawn books. They are frequently re-read/listened to by everyone in my house. Fun fact: Timothy Zahn wrote a 6 book series geared toward the preteen/early teen age called Dragon and Thief. It's not Star Wars, but it's a fantastic sci-fi series that my oldest boy read a few years ago. I read them after he was finished and thoroughly enjoyed them.
Now I’m going to have to check out these newer Thrawn books. I read the original Legacy series when they first came out. Quite a few years ago, I was fortunate enough to actually meet Tim Zahn and have a nice chat with him. Such a great guy!
My husband and I completely agree you about Rogue One and Andor. We need more of that kind of writing and directing. I have Heir of the Empire, the first book but had trouble getting into it years ago before i would see Rebels. I need to go back to it. I watched all of clone wars and rebels while on bedrest a couple years ago. Sooo good. I watched them simultaneously 😅
If you guys want to get the full Rouge One/Andor experience, I can recommend a few more books to you. 1. Star Wars Catalyst by James Luceno- it’s all about Erso family as the become involved in project Stardust and explains how they met Krennic and Saw Gerrerra. 2. Guardians of the Whills by Greg Rucca- It explains what was happening on Jedha with Baze and Chirrut just before Rouge One. One of the cool things in this book is that each chapter starts out with a quote from non-Jedi societies and organizations about what the force is to them and how they interact with it. It’s a middle grade/ young adult book that is a very quick read. 3. Inferno squadron by Christie Golden- this book follows the main character from the newer Star Wars Battlefront II game. It takes place right after A New Hope as her team of imperials are tasked with hunting down the members of Saw Gerrerra’s Partisans that survived the destruction of Jedha due to their hand in the Destruction of the Death Star. I hope your able to enjoy these books and all the other Star Wars books you read.
I’ll check out the Thrawn books. I love the Thrawn comics. I’ve been meaning to read the Star Wars novels. I love the graphic novels. I remember Kristian Harloff said one of the novels features a planet named after him. And Chewie gets hit by a moon lol! I’m enjoying the vid! ✨✨✨✨📚📚📚📚
OK, guys, I'm an OG Star Wars fan. I cut my sci-fi teeth on these films and read the screenplay books as they came out. Love-love-love. I got the comic books when they started (but soon "outgrew" them as young adulthood reared it's ugly/distracting head). I have not read any of these books and you have me on 🔥to start reading these! I really want to start with the Jyn Urso book, then get into the Thrawn books. Thanks so much for sharing!
i love this! Even though i am a Star Wars Fan, i did not know of all these stories. I share a love of Star Wars with my son, now 35, and i am going to share this episode with him. I think that he would love it. I love that you guys are doing this together, keep this going, it's awesome!
My bf is a big star wars fan and he's mentioned the Thrawn series before - might have to get those for him soon! Didn't know about the others so I'll see if knows them. Great recs and themed episode!
What a fun video! I’m starting to get into the Star Wars book world and recently finished Heir to the Empire! I love that the various authors make the Star Wars books (old and new ones) so accessible for all readers (regardless of how deep their Star Wars knowledge goes or doesn’t go) but also keep the plots complex and exciting. I adored the movies and love getting back into the world whenever I want through the books!
I love the Star Wars universe despite the complex history. I appreciate this review! I’ve been curious about the book: Razor’s Edge (Empire and Rebellion #1) solely because it’s written by Martha Wells (Murderbot Diaries). I loved that series so I trust her with the story. ❤❤❤
I love how Zahn wrote these to fit perfectly within both versions of the Star Wars canon. You could easily have these fit into Legends and see why Thrawn is the way he is in the Heir Trilogy.
All of my legends books from the 90s are still at my parents' house and I try to buy the new ones on Kindle sale. Anything Thrawn is definitely a must-read. I loved the Rogue Squadron books and want to read Alphabet Squadron, but don't have them yet. I think I'm going to pick up Lost Stars next.
That's awesome! Yeah, Rouge Squadron I think I prefer over Alphabet Squadron. Tayler just picked me up Darth Plagueis, so that well probably be my next read in the Star Wars universe. ⭐️
I have never read Star Wars but you make Thrawn sound tempting! Are you excited for the Acolyte series? (Did I get that right? With Cary Ann Moss?) Rebecca Roanhorse you mentioned is an indigenous author and I have read a mystery/supernatural book by her before. It makes me wonder how the Star Wars authors are selected - are they invited or do they write something and submit it to the Disney publishers??🤔
Don't disown me you two, but I'm not a big Star Wars fan. I was more of a Star Trek girlie. I have only ever watched the original 3 movies and I've never read a Star Wars book, lol. I adore the two of you though, so I hope that counts for something. I can be your adopted 62-year-old Texas mama who doesn't like Star Wars 🤣😂🤣😂
Join us for this Star Wars-themed episode where Branden shares his Star Wars library of books and rates each title!
Excited for it.
You need to read the Darth Bane trilogy by Drew Karpyshyn! Sticking with the dark side, Dark Disciple by Christie Golden is also fantastic.
I have actually, but the audio book. Loved it. Need to get the physical copies.

Oh cool. I knew he wrote non-star wars stuff too and have been meaning to read them.
One book i can highly recommend is Lost Stars. Its was fantastic story of 2 childhood friends joining the imperial academy
I will have to look into it. Thanks! ❤️👍
Now I’m going to have to check out these newer Thrawn books. I read the original Legacy series when they first came out. Quite a few years ago, I was fortunate enough to actually meet Tim Zahn and have a nice chat with him. Such a great guy!
Awesome! You totally should check out the new ones. Thrawn is the best.
My husband and I completely agree you about Rogue One and Andor. We need more of that kind of writing and directing. You for sure should go back to read heir of the empire. 👍 Rebels is my favorite of the two animated series but they both are solid.

Thanks for this. I have read/listened to inferno squadron, bit not the other two. Catalyst will be on my short list of next stat wars books to read.
This was so interesting!! Thank you for sharing your love of Star Wars!
Glad you enjoyed it! ❤️
Ohhh man I’ll be going down the Libby rabbit hole tonight!
😂😂😂 Sorry!

Yeah, the books cover the same story as the comics but more indepth. You should totally read them.

Ah! Thank you. That's awesome to hear. Thanks for the support and may the force be with you.
Have you guys done a "favorite books of all time" video? I would love to see the lists.
We haven't... Yet. Maybe sometime soon.
22:34 soooooo good!!
14:19 couldn’t agree more! The original Han Trilogies are wicked!
My bf is a big star wars fan and he's mentioned the Thrawn series before - might have to get those for him soon! Didn't know about the others so I'll see if knows them. Great recs and themed episode!
Yes! Anything Thrawn in my opinion is a great option.
What a fun video! I’m starting to get into the Star Wars book world and recently finished Heir to the Empire! Yes, they are great and exciting to read through. They make star wars so fun.
I read the Heir to the Empire trilogy and the Rouge Squadron series. I've got Death Troopers sitting on my kindle.
Nice. Love it. I'm only on book one of X-wing but I can tell it's a hit for me.
I love the Star Wars universe despite the complex history. I appreciate this review! I’ve been curious about the book: Razor’s Edge (Empire and Rebellion #1) solely because it’s written by Martha Wells (Murderbot Diaries). I loved that series so I trust her with the story. ❤❤❤
Great! I will have to look into it as well. Thanks for the recommendation.
Thank you so much for this! The Star Wars universe is opening up before me. I’ll start looking for Star Wars nuggets in book sales now.
Great. Glad to hear it. Let us know how you do.
I love how Zahn wrote these to fit perfectly within both versions of the Star Wars canon. You could easily have these fit into Legends and see why Thrawn is the way he is in the Heir Trilogy.
I liked Tales From Mos Eisley Cantina and The Courtship of Princess Leia. I read one of the Jedi Academy books but can’t remember the name.
Cool. I haven't read either of those. Will have to check them out.

I forgot to mention, but I appreciated the Ahsoka lo-fi screen in the background 😀
Haha! Thanks. We were wondering if anyone would notice.
I have never read Star Wars but you make Thrawn sound tempting! Are you excited for the Acolyte series? (Did I get that right? With Cary Ann Moss?)
Rebecca Roanhorse you mentioned is an indigenous author and I have read a mystery/supernatural book by her before. It makes me wonder how the Star Wars authors are selected - are they invited or do they write something and submit it to the Disney publishers??🤔
I am excited for the Acolyte, but also very cautious. As for how authors are selected, I'm not sure. Might have to do some investigating.
It's Legends not Legacy; Legacy was a comic series (which is now considered part of Legends, to confuse things slightly)
Yes you're right. Didn't know I messed that up. 🤷🏻♂️😁
18:56 you mean Canon Soontir Fel?
Don't disown me you two, but I'm not a big Star Wars fan. I was more of a Star Trek girlie. I have only ever watched the original 3 movies and I've never read a Star Wars book, lol. I adore the two of you though, so I hope that counts for something. I can be your adopted 62-year-old Texas mama who doesn't like Star Wars 🤣😂🤣😂
Hahaha! No worries! We knew this wouldn’t appeal to everyone, but we so appreciate you giving it a peek. ☺️
24:12 it’s good, ok even but it’s def not as good as Heir
