Glad you gave King a try! Yes, read the Shining! It’s my favorite. You said that you have seen the movie. Forget that altogether if you can. It only slightly resembles the book. King does a masterful job with the character’s backstories -something the movie ignores almost completely. That’s what makes the story so terrifying and tragic.
You are so welcome. Tayler and I actually need to get back into that book. We got so busy with everything else that we haven't gotten back to sitting and reading together. I'm glad you enjoyed it! ❤❤❤
Welcome back, I missed not watching your fun-ness! Today I finished "The God of the Woods" by Liz Moore gave it 4 stars, it was interesting but not what I expected. I'm also reading 11/22/63 by Stephen King, it's a slow burn but interesting, The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller, and The Blackthorn Key by Kevin Sands, which I picked up the series of 3 for $3 at our local used book store annex at our public library. I LOVED all the dog nudges!
Pepper gives some really emphatic dog nudges. 😂 I absolutely loved 11/22/63 and hope you do too. Haven't read Song of Achilles, but did read/listened to Circe. It was good, but a bit slow if I remember correctly. Not heard of the Blackthorn Key series, but we do love a good used book annex.
Oh I loved the Golem and the Jinni! Beautiful writing. The audio book was fantastic…so well done. I also didn’t want to jump right into the second book. It’s on my list for next year.
The latest read that I loved was ‘Winter in Madrid’ by C.J. Sansom. It’s a historical fiction set in 1940’s Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, and follows characters trying to survive in various ways. Really gripping and heartbreaking at times.
Interesting! I’ve only ever read the Matt Shardlake books. I feel like, based on this book, you may like The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. 👍
Welcome back. I highly recommend Just One Damned Thing After Another, the first book in The Chronicles of St. Mary's. It time travel, history, humor and may even make you tear up. It's a great series including novellas and a spin off.
So happy to have you both back. Now we need to talk about merchandise because I think Branden’s Smutty Book Club would look great on T-shirts, tote bags and mugs. 😜.
When I saw Branden was reading Neon Gods on Goodreads I literally laughed out loud! I haven't read it but I know the author is known for her smutty books. So glad you guys are back!
😂😂😂 I had no idea until he told me all about it when we were walking Pepper one evening. I even said, you better talk about this one on the podcast! 😎😎😎
I read The House Of The Seven Gables in high school, so aeons ago, but I remember loving it back then. I think it's just the right time to revisit it. Last weekend I read The Omen and greatly enjoyed it, it kept me hooked till the end. Highly recommend it.
Try Elizabeth it 🎉 is a great read - it was a book club for me a few years ago. Thank you for my Saturday night enjoyment - always, love to hear what different people have read and enjoyed (or not) - 🎉😊 you two are always fun.
Are you saying to your self “Elizabeth”? Well what I was going to type was the 7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle for some reason when I said it with the EB it became Elizabeth and then I had a problem trying to go back in and correct it so I’m just adding this note on that that’s for when I was talking about you had mentioned hearing about and I had read it with bookclub and really enjoyed it. It’s fun.
YAY, I was so thrilled to see that you two posted a video!!! Branden, I’m so glad you liked We Have Always Lived in the Castle! Tayler, you are going to love Cujo! I have been reading a ton, my latest endeavor is Stephen King’s The Stand. It’s really good! I need to pick up the pace though because it’s over 1300 pages and I borrowed it on my library’s Libby app. and there are 16 people waiting for it! 😵💫 just FYI I didn’t hear any noise from the washer or kiddos and I love seeing your doggo. Happy reading. 🌻
Love those new covers! I just re read Cujo over the summer, it's so good, hope you love it Tayler. Love Salem's Lot too. Glad you guys are back, happy reading!📚🤓📚
Do your boys read a lot? I come from a reading family & my oldest son out of my 3 kids reads. 3 of his 4 read. My husband comes from a nonreading family. The 2 of you are lucky to each love reading. Great show.
Thank you. We try to have them read as much as we can. Our oldest does do a bit of reading, and can, at times, find himself in a groove of reading a lot. Our youngest is still in the early reader stage but is a quick learner.
Glad you are back! King is a master of character development and world building, so much so that it’s hard to read other authors and feel the same depth.
I missed you guys! I put Taylor’s two books on my TBR list. Read NOS4A2 in October and really enjoyed it! I also recommend The Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill if you haven’t already read it.
Thank you. I have not read Heart Shaped Boc, but I did use to have a copy. I need to read it, and I'm upset with myself for not doing so after reading Nos4a2.
I read the Shining when I was in HS and it scared me! Later when I watched the movie, even though I knew what was coming I was still scared! I’m currently reading Stephen King’s Fairy Tale which is very different from his suspenseful spooky books…fantasy!!
I love that. Tayler just cracked it open, and I will be doing the same once she finishes. We both loved reading/listening to fairytale. King is so versitial. ❤️❤️❤️
I have never read a Stephen King book. Eek! I'm scared....lol. It's always interesting to see other readers choice of books. I'm currently reading The Strangers on Montagu Street by Karen White. It's the 3rd book in a 7 book series. As always enjoyed your video! Happy Reading! ☺
I know, Stephen King can feel daunting, but I think if you pick the right book it isn't a scary thing. 11/22/63 is great, though it is a long one. Don't know if I've heard of that series of books, I'll have to look into it. Hope you are enjoying them, and glad you enjoyed our video. ❤️❤️❤️
Yeah, he does a good job of giving you the info of the story while making it a story. Even holding things back until later. definitely will be reading more from him.
Loved the Golem and the Jinni. Another fantasy tale in old New York is Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin. It was my favourite book for years until I discovered ASByatt
18:40 this was me, after the book I had thought was just “dark academia vibes” turned into full blown vampire erotica (that’s what I get for not researching beforehand!)…I was caught off-guard and complaining about it to my husband, but also, um, yeah, I’m going to keep reading it 😂😅
I'm so happy that someone else read The Gollum and the Jinni! I read it last year and really liked it, I've tried to convince some of my friends and family to read it but none of them have yet. I didn't like the second book as much as the first one. It wasn't bad and you should read it, I just didn't love it.
I recently finished listening to it on Audible and loved it! Pretty much agreed with everything Tayler said about it and exactly why I haven’t jumped into the sequel yet.
So glad y'all are back! You were missed. Branden, if you haven't read her, I'd recommend Laura Hillenbrand's books. Even if you think you don't care about the subject, she makes it fascinating! You'll love them. Seabiscuit and Unbroken, both amazing.
@GoodBooksLately I find the writing style different which has me engaged. A writer writing the book and letting you in on it as the story unfolds is a first for me.
Read Salems Lot as a teen in the 80's. Just read Billy Summers which is a straight up crime book. Also finally understand why the Vegas Knights coffee mug. Lets go Bruins/Predators. I live in AL. So Nashville is my go to for hockey games now.
I had the same feelings about Interview with the vampire, I struggled to finish it and almost 30 years on, I haven't picked up another Anne Rice novel. Unfortunately one of my favourite authors, Phil Rickman passed away last week so I've decided to read one of the books in his Merrily Watkins Mystery series. Merrily is a Church of England Vicar, who is the deliverance consultant ie exorcist of her diosease. The stories take place on the Welsh/English border and are spooky and creepy. He's written other historical and supernatural novels. He's well worth a read. I'm reading, A Fabric of Sin
I always add a book or two to my want to read list from your videos! Sorry you didn't enjoy Interview with the Vampire.. I'm doing a reread of the series and Lestat > Louis! The Vampire Lestat (the 2nd book in the series) is much better. I definitely am going to read 'Salem's Lot!
Yeah, I think your right about Lestat, and maybe I'll try the next book. It just might not be in the near future for me. Glad you enjoyed the video though, and hopefully we didn't have you breaking the bank buying books. ❤️
So glad u guys are back! Loved the video as always! I definetly need to pick up Salem's Lot, i jut read my first King book (11/22/63) and it was amazing. Also, have you guys checkout the amc interview with a vampire tv adaptation? My Current Read is Jade Legacy by Fonda Lee i plan on picking up Chain Gang all stars next
Glad to see you both are back. Missed you both. Killers of the Flower Moon was a great read.
Thank you! ❤️❤️❤️
I have had no internwt for nearly 4 weeks . So good to see I have not missed many videos.
❤️ Sucks about your internet outage, but glad you get the chance to catch up now. 👍❤️
All time favorite King of mine is The Stand.
That's what I keep hearing too. 👍❤️❤️
She has begun it and it totally into it. I'll pass the tip about forgetting the movie while reading.
SO I read The Last House on Needless Street and it was SOOOO GOOD! Thanks for the rec.
You are so welcome. Tayler and I actually need to get back into that book. We got so busy with everything else that we haven't gotten back to sitting and reading together. I'm glad you enjoyed it! ❤❤❤

I also didn’t want to jump right into the second book. It’s on my list for next year.
Sometimes you just need to let a book breathe before moving on in the series. 😁
Listened to The Golem and The Jinni and the follow-up on audiobook. Both were so good!!
That's awesome! I'm sure Tayler will be getting into the sequel eventually. Glad you enjoyed them both. ❤❤❤
Here from your knitting channel! Im also a book lover and sooo excited about this channel!!! Your book recommendations are so good!
Yay! Thank you! Welcome to the channel! Glad you like our book recs! ❤👍❤
The latest read that I loved was ‘Winter in Madrid’ by C.J. Sansom. It’s a historical fiction set in 1940’s Spain in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, and follows characters trying to survive in various ways. Really gripping and heartbreaking at times.
Oh, that sounds like a fun one. I know Tayler has read C.J. Sansom before. Did you like it?❤️
Interesting!
Oh wow! That sounds great. Both for me and for Tayler. We will definitely be looking into this one. Thanks!❤❤❤
Great video guys! The smut segment 😂 I’m definitely adding The Gollum and The Jinni to my TBR! 📚
Glad you liked it!❤️❤️❤️
So happy to have you both back. Now we need to talk about merchandise because I think Branden’s Smutty Book Club would look great on T-shirts, tote bags and mugs. 😜.

Your dog is so cute😍🐶
Thank you. She certainly is. ❤️🐕🦺❤️
I read The House Of The Seven Gables in high school, so aeons ago, but I remember loving it back then. I think it's just the right time to revisit it.
Last weekend I read The Omen and greatly enjoyed it, it kept me hooked till the end. Highly recommend it.
Good to know! I'll have to look into the Omen. You sold it for me. ❤️❤️❤️
Try Elizabeth it 🎉 is a great read - it was a book club for me a few years ago. Thank you for my Saturday night enjoyment - always, love to hear what different people have read and enjoyed (or not) - 🎉😊 you two are always fun.

Okay. I get. Makes sense now. 😂😁

Haha. That's great. The Stand is on my list for sure. Happy to hear that the other noices weren't noticeable. The power of editing 😁❤️❤️❤️
I am going to read "East of Eden"- didn't know how long it was before finding it at the library. Wish me luck.Great to see you two!
Haven't read it, but I hear it is great! Hope you enjoy it. ❤️👍❤️
Love those new covers! I just re read Cujo over the summer, it's so good, hope you love it Tayler. Love Salem's Lot too. Glad you guys are back, happy reading!📚🤓📚
I hope so too! We are glad to be back! 🎉🎉❤️❤️❤️
Welcome back! Great podcast as always ❤

Welcome back! Another great episode!
Thanks! Glad to be back! ❤️❤️❤️

Tayler - love your “book” mug and your afghan in the background 😉😉
❤️❤️❤️. Thank you.
I re-read 'Salem's Lot in October also. It was just as good as I remembered. Definitely read The Shining and I would suggest Pet Semetary also!
Can't go wrong with a classic King book. ❤️😁❤️
I enjoyed the Golum and the Jinni book and the sequel. The ending ties up the storylines nicely.
That's wonderful to hear. ❤️❤️❤️
Oh my gosh I'm so excited!!!! ❤ 📚
Yay! Hope you enjoy it. ❤️❤️❤️
Recently read Salem's Lot and enjoyed it. Watch Midnight Mass. It's a great homage to Salem's Lot but centered around trauma and grief
We totally have watched midnight mass. We found very strange, but totally understand what you mean about trauma and grief.
Glad you are back! King is a master of character development and world building, so much so that it’s hard to read other authors and feel the same depth.
I totally agree!
House of Seven Gables was a school read for me (maybe because Im from Massachusetts??)☺️
That makes sense.
How did you like it??
Loved 'Salem's Lot, as well. Love mostly all of his works.
The Kinger never disapoints. 👍👍❤️❤️
Glad you’re back. 😊
Thank you! 😊. We are too. ❤️❤️❤️
Scissors for the drifters!! Having a magical Rolls-Royce might make me consider my ethics. (Briefly)

I clicked so fast!!! so excited for a new video 🥰♥️
Hope you enjoyed it! ❤️❤️❤️
I enjoy David Grann’s books. I’ve read a few.
Awesome. 👍❤️❤️
Tayler starting a new trend of smut book coasters.
😂😂😂
Welcome back!!!
🎉 Thank you!

😂😂😂. What was the book? I'm interested now.
@@GoodBooksLatelyAn Education in Malice. It was not great, but I finished it anyway😆
I totally get that.
I'm so happy that someone else read The Gollum and the Jinni! I read it last year and really liked it, I've tried to convince some of my friends and family to read it but none of them have yet. Oh, I read Seabiscuit multiple times. It was really well written
I am currently reading Everyone on This Train Is a Suspect by Benjamin Stevenson which is the 2nd book in the Ernest Cunningham series.
Is that the series that had "Everyone in this Family Has Killed Someone"
@GoodBooksLately Yes! I am enjoying the series.
Oh cool. Tayler and I started that but got distracted with other things. I will be going back to it for sure.
@GoodBooksLately I find the writing style different which has me engaged. A writer writing the book and letting you in on it as the story unfolds is a first for me.

Oh, sounds intriguing. That's great. ❤️❤️❤️
Welcome back! 🎉 I started reading Heresy by S.J. Parris because of your recommendation!
Thank you! And so glad you’re starting the Giordano Bruno books. You’re going to fall in love with them. Please let me know how you like them!

If you like The Shining, make sure to read the sequel Doctor Sleep that follows the son Danny as an adult. 👍
Oh yeah. That's right. That is a more recent book right?
@GoodBooksLately yes, it came out about 10 years ago.
Okay. That's right. They also made it into a movie right?
@@GoodBooksLately yes, but it wasn't as good as the book or The Shining movie.
So glad u guys are back! Loved the video as always! I definetly need to pick up Salem's Lot, i jut read my first King book (11/22/63) and it was amazing. It's so good! Loved 11/22/63!❤️❤️❤️
IMO that’s his best book.
I recently read The Invisible Hour by Alice Hoffman. Time travel and Nathaniel Hawthorne. I think you would enjoy it.
Yes! That sounds right up Tayler's alley. I'll make sure she sees this. ❤️❤️❤️ Thanks.
I normally am a fan of Stephen King, but, I thought 'Salem's Lot dragged a bit and gave it 3stars. It was ok. The Shining is a 5 star masterpiece.
I just started The Shining and I’m already feeling myself falling into the trance. ☺️☺️☺️💀💀💀
You need to read Duma Key by Stephen King.
Putting it on the list!
More dog pls
😂😂😂 Pepper girl always tries to get some screen time. 🐕🦺
