    Very cool video! I already knew all of this, but actually _seeing_ the pathing the missiles take was _extremely_ useful and informative!
    One comment: many modules such as One-Turn, APN Guidance, Prediction Guidance, etc, are almost all empty space that can be filled with fuel or warhead payload. The electronics take a constant volume, so the bigger the missiles, the more fuel (I almost always use them for fuel) they fit, proportionally. The proportion is enormous in any case. IIRC it's something like:
    Small = 97%
    Medium = 99%
    Large = 99.9%
    Huge = 99.97%
    Thus you don't need to replace a warhead with the extra guidance module; you can replace a fuel tank instead and lose almost no flight time.
    I'm _definitely_ interested in seeing a tutorial on Lua missile coding!

    6:56 You forgot to add that even though you lose a module to using the one turn, a one turn gives free space allowing to you mostly make up the difference by either using the free space for reinforcement, emp, or explosive dmg instead of just fuel

    another thing for the infrared seeker, you can use a secondary missile system to stick sticky flares on targets to give cold targets a heat signature to lock on to. Kinda convoluted but its something.

    Good video for new players, but there are a few issues.
    At 7:00 you forgot that the One turn module is mostly free space, there was no reason to give up any payload because of it.
    At 23:30 you do it again with the prediction guidance and APN modules, also I'm pretty sure that those modules work with the laser seeker (but not the beam rider).
    Knowing which components are mostly free space is extremely important as it means you can cram in a lot of functionality into your missiles at no added cost.
    At 9:00 you didn't show the different stats for the single pixel seeker: the normal IR seeker has a 10% to 100% susceptibility to decoys (4% to 40% with signal processor), the single pixel has 15% to 30% and can't use signal processors.
    This basically means the single pixel seeker is roughly as good as a signal processor on average and also more consistent, and that it's harder for it to be distracted by targets near the one it's currently seeking.
    You also didnt mention beam rider guidance at all, or the usage of smoke and ECM to throw offf course laser seeker/remote guidance missiles, or how you can use multiple laser designators (even on different vehicles) to provide guidance.

      I forgot to mention that you can use free space for payload, but you still lose some. Losing payload and a slot are both downsides for all the guidance modules.
      The rest is info that could have been added for sure. Maybe I'll update it some time.

    • @asrieldreemurr5029
      @asrieldreemurr5029 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scottwright7177 you lose like 0.8% of a payload for large missiles, it's for all intents and purposes nothing.
      Things change for small missiles, where you lose 50% of a payload and that's significant, but even for medium missiles you only lose a bit more than 5%.

    One thing I would highly suggest for internal guidance is to attach a radar or sonar bouys, as this limits the launcher to only one missile out at a time
    This can save you a lot of excess load preparation hassle as well as a very small amount of detection and tracking to boot

    Not bad but I think you should have discussed thumper head remote guidance. Those tank a lams very well. Another thing I felt should have been noted is using tpg or apn is you can dedicate the left over room from the module can have fuel explosives or emp. Also, if I recall the single pixel has less drag and is much faster.

    • @scottwright7177

      Remote guidance set the guidance delay to 10 seconds it'll fly in whatever direction it was launched so point it up then after 10s the target guidance kicks in causing the missile to turn to the target hitting from above

    I see how good lua can be now so looking forward to that video. Do you what APN gain does because that still confuses me. Also, does APN make the missile go faster close to the target like it says and if so, what is that range?

    • @scottwright7177
      @scottwright7177  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It does not speed up the missile. APN is really just trying to keep the missile on the line between where it was launched and the enemy. That's technically what it tries to do. There is no speed boost.

      @@scottwright7177 that's not really how APN works: low gains make it not work at all, at 0.1 it will likely lag far behind a normal missile, and high gains behave in a fundamentally different way than the prediction module, being better vs targets with mostly constant acceleration and much worse vs targets with extreme changes in acceleration.
      Without going into the math details, the difference is that prediction guidance estimates a point of impact and aims the missile towards it, while APN aims the missile to achieve impact without explicitly estimating where the impact will happen.
