      Next week will be a lot more interesting. I love the Ozzy era as much as anyone and but the Martin Era? That’s where we separate the men from the boys when it comes to Sabbath fans. Hahaha.
      It is always great to hear your opinions and stories. Great job as always.

      @@scottwilcox2440 my favorite Martin album for sure. Obviously all 4 Dio albums are pure perfection for me and yes, I include The Devil You Know. That’s a Sabbath album regardless of the the name. 😉

      Martin era is great. here's a perfect example of how the press/promotion and financial circumstances can hide great material. Martin's voice is exceptional, and at the end of the day is up there with Dio style Sabbath albums for me.

      No worries King! We made it work and I think we shed a lot of light on Sabs early; and what many would consider “classic” era. Had a blast!!!

    Thanks to everyone for joining us tonight, it was great discussing these iconic records with someone who knows them as in depth as King does. Sorry there were some tech glitches. We're gonna work on fixing those for Part 2 next week and we'll aim to have some time for King to do more Q&A with folks in the chat. King couldn't see the comments on his screen tonight so it was hard for him to answer questions; rest assured he was not ignoring anyone who posted a question for him.

    I fell over backwards when King said Ozzy looks like Big Momma Cass and Alan said Bill had an armadillo in his pants or that he hopes so. That is my favorite Sabbath album as well from my favorite band of all time. Great episode, guys.

    Agreed with Fowley on Never Say Die! Tons of emotional depth and variety on there. My Top 10 Sabbath albums:
    1. Mob Rules 2. Heaven & Hell 3. Never Say Die! 4. Masters of Reality 5. Volume 4 6. Tyr 7. Sabotage 8. Headless Cross 9. Eternal idol 10. Born Again
    Lots of Ozzy era stuff has great songs, but I can't stand some of the singing in lockstep with the riffs (NIB verse, Iron Man verse, etc.) or his playful stuff (eg. the War Pigs verse rising and falling / Electric Funeral title singing). Sabbath Bloody Sabbath...so many great ideas on that album, but hampered by desultory arrangements that "progress" to honky tonk or aimless jamming or far less interesting ideas. Almost every song on that album has a better first half, but yeah, lots of great licks on there. Sabotage is the more focused and blistering take on those types of ideas---The Writ is explosive and Symptom of the Universe crackles.

      I think this is a hot take for anyone who reads this, but on the list of best Sabbath singers, Ozzy ranks pretty low when it comes to technical ability. I love his character and charm though.

    Took me a few weeks to get the time to catch to this marathon epic in 2 parts. Great to get acquainted with King F. and thank you for the great music thats pumped out of the mansion in the last 3 decades (Deceased, Doomstone, October 31). There's a few Kings in metal and this one seems the more approachable one: great knowledge of metal. As for the Sabbs... the classic era... after having read one of their Biog books: It is amazing how they didn't implode early on their career with all the drugs, bad management and overall craziness and thank the darklord for the amazing music MkI Sabb has left for future generations.

      Necessity is the mother of invention. Music has been their lives since a young age, so I can understand how they could persevere under all the stress and strain. The brand was established at that point.

    Hails everyone. First time I heard "Hole in the sky" in my teens, eveything changed! That was my introduction. Sabbath is Sabbath.
    Man, Vol. 4 is amazing. Vol 4 is actually "dirty", dense and organic as fuck in my ears. It's tighter, that's true. Top 3 Ozzy era albums for me.
    But at the end of the day, Ozzy's first 6 are untouchable for a reason. Dio albums are killer of course. I really like the Tony Martin era albums a lot, as well

    • @HeavyMetallurgy
      @HeavyMetallurgy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      There’s no denying the overall consistency of Sabbath, EVEN WITH all the different singers. Changing a singer is usually the death knell for a band. Tony always seemed to pick the good ones! Thanks for watching!
