Death Angel - The Ultra-Violence is one of my favorites..
FUK YEA!!!❤❤❤❤
Yesss
@Green Goblin ACT III is Death Angel's thrashterpiece! Amazingly heavy, yet highly melodic and tighter than a frog's poop chute! Love ALL Death Angel (all the newer stuff is top shelf) but ACT III is PERFECT and completely blew my friends and I away! Great mention!
I seem to be one of the few that prefer Frolic Through the Park of those first three albums. First half of Act III is excellent too, second half a bit of a slump.
@@beetlebum7760 Frolic is awesome from start to end, I played the hell out of it! But I don't see any slumping going on during the masterpiece that is ACT III-but Death Angel, in general, should be counted among the top 5 thrash bands-Rob is a seriously skilled shredder and I can never get enough of Mark's truly fearsome vocals-dudes were tearing it up at recess on the monkey bars (which is where they played their first gig....when they were all 11 yrs. old!) o.k. a little exaggeration, although all members were under 21 (drummer Andy was 14!) when Ultra-Violence debuted. One of the few bands that I don't even need to hear song samples before buying their albums-all killer-no filler! peace and stay safe.
Sepultura's "Arise" is definitely in my top ten. Awesome album cover too. "Beneath The Remains" kicks ass too.
glad someone mentioned 'Arise'....It's one of my favourites too
1.Rust In Peace
2.Ride the Lightning
3. Show No Mercy
4.Beneath The Remains
5.The Ultra-Violence
Great picks.🤘
From Canada: Sacrifice - Torment in Fire
Another great German one: Running Wild - Gates to Purgatory
Running Wild is speedmetal
My Top 10:
- Kreator - Extreme Aggression
- Destruction - Eternal Devastation
- Sodom - Agent Orange
- Sabbat - Dreamweaver
- Heathen - Breaking The Silence
- Death Angel - The Ultra-Violence
- Overkill - The Years Of Decay
- Flotsam & Jetsam - No Place For Disgrace
- Megadeth - Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?
- Anthrax - Among The Living
HM:
Venom - Welcome To Hell (ground zero for thrash)
Raven - Rock Until You Drop (Another huge influence on the genre)
No Metallica? Wow you must be so smart because you don’t like popular music. Not
Fabulous Disaster by Exodus is a fantastic album. One other that has always seemed underrated to me is No Place for Disgrace by Flotsam & Jetsam.
No Place for Disgrace is an absolute masterpiece.
No particular order:
Sacrifice- Forward To Termination
Razor - Violent Restitution
Coroner- Punishment For Decadence
Deathwish- Demon Preacher
Slayer- Hell Awaits
Overkill- Feel The Fire
Tankard - Zombie Attack
Infernal Majesty- None Shall Defy
Sadus - Chemical Exposure
Dark Angel- Darkness Descends
Hey, I just checked the Tankard album. Became instantly one of my favourites ever.
Tank'em and Tank'em hard !
Props on the Sacrifice mention. Great band. The Ones I Condemn from 2009 is one of the best thrash comeback albums there are. I heard that Rob and the boys are working on a new Sacrifice album which would be awesome.
Holy Terror Mindwars, by far the most underrated thrash band ever. The talent in that band is unbelievable.
Agreed hard! Fantastic album that many sleep on
Holy Terror and Holy Moses 🤘
Mindwars is an amazing album. Still play it from time to time.
Man, how cool would it be to have a beer with Pete and the guys and just talk music all day. Thats my dream for sure!
Was in Pete’s home about 22 years ago.. ( this was still the era of VHS) was amazed how he had every Robert De Nero movie . Like everyone . Even the crappy obscure ones.. he had em.. I think he might have had all the Pacino ones as well. Interesting guy. def cool to be around.
@@jamesconnor2461 what a legend
yeah, me too! Just hang out and have a few beers and talk about Metal ...and play video games 🎮
@@jamesconnor2461 Do you mean like Meet the Parents...those crappy Robert Dinero films? LOL 😆 🤣
Some obscure stuff worth checking:
Devastation - Idolatry
Turbo - Ostatni Wojownik
Deathwish - At The Edge of Damnation
Attomica - Disturbing the Noise
Protector - A Shedding Of Skin
Merciless - The Awakening
Gammacide - Victims of Science
Minotaur - Power of Darkness
D.B.C. - Dead Brain Cells
Morbid Scream - The Signal to Attack: 1986-1990
Idolatry 👍👍
Devastation and Merciless are amazing.
Also giving a shout out to Hirax, Sacred Reich, Artillery, Mortal Sin and Nasty Savage to name a few more. Great show, loved it!!!
.....and Holy Moses🤘!!
SG Ignorance is high on my list
Love the variety on your lists guys! Great show 🤘
Just loved this and all of that the Sea offers. Thanks!!!!
Flotsam and Jetsom, Doomsday for the Deceiver.
Definitely a top ten thrash masterpiece and easily the band’s best!
Good one
Flotsam and Jetsam doomsday The Deceiver..... what a deadly album!
Slayer - Reign in Blood
S.O.D. - Speak English Or Die
Kreator - Extreme Aggressions
Stone - Stone
Death Angel - The Ultra-Violence
Hallows Eve - Death and Insanity
The milano mosh!
Good discussion. I like how informative and respectful your shows are, and I like how you show people can have different tastes but also share in the greater interest.
Awesome show! Of course, all great choices here! One of my favorite thrash albums not mentioned is Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death. I didn’t discover this until about ten years ago but it has rapidly ascended through the ranks. One of the most insane and intense thrash albums I’ve ever heard .
Thank you guys for your favorite Thrash Metal albums!! Wow!! Steve has his own record shop!! I’m looking forward to visiting sometime!! I haven’t traveled for awhile because of the pandemic!! I just work own my own music right now!! Thanks again guys!! Take Care. Rock on!!🎼🎤🎸🎵🥁
Rich, you skipped "Terrible Certainty" - that `87 barn burner is by far the best thing Kreator ever churned out!
Toxic Trace is my favorite Kreator track!
Yes....I’m not really into ‘Pleasure to Kill’,the next album was way better.
Terrible Certainty was where Kreator really solidified their signature sound. The next 2 albums, as well as all their post 2000 material, have all been permutations on that formula.
As always with these top ten lists, people will have such diverse choices, but that’s why I love this type of video! So many Thrashterpieces on show! Great to hear different fans opinions! Stay safe!!🤘🏻
My favorites:
10. Time Is Up (Havok)
9. Darkness Descends (Dark Angel)
8. Bonded By Blood (Exodus)
7. Infernal Overkill (Destruction)
6. Horrorscope (Overkill)
5. Agent Orange (Sodom)
4. Pleasure To Kill (Kreator)
3. Raining Blood (Slayer)
2. Rust In Peace (Megadeth)
1. Master Of Puppets (Metallica)
Honorable mentions in no particular order:
Feel The Fire (Overkill)
Tapping The Vein (Sodom)
Ride The Lightning (Metallica)
Kill Em All (Metallica)
And Justice For All (Metallica)
Coma Of Souls (Kreator)
Epidemic Of Violence (Demolition Hammer)
Chemical Exposure (Sadus)
Among The Living (Anthrax).
Mr. Bungle's " The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny Demo". Also one of the greatest albums of 2020!!!
It's really good. I used to have the demo. What an improvement.
What a stack of classics, Enjoyed this video.
It's awesome to hear mention of the New York Death Militia in a Sea of Tranquility video no matter how brief! Thank you for creating such badass and consistent material, Pete (and company!) - IDDM/NYDM Warrior
Thank you Pete, Rich, and Steve for doing this list here are my ten favorite thrash albums:
1. Slayer ---- "Reign in Blood" (1986)
2. Metallica ----- "Master of Puppets" (1986)
3. Megadeth ------- "Peace Sells" (1986)
4. Anthrax ------- "Spreading the Disease" (1985)
5. Forbidden -------- "Forbidden Evil" (1988)
6. Overkill -------- "Taking Over" (1987)
7. Death Angel ------ "Ultra -- Violence" (1986)
8. Exodus ------- "Fabulous Disaster" (1988)
9. Testament ------- "The Legacy" (1987)
10. Kreator ------- "Extreme Aggression (1989)
Honorable Mentions:
Possessed -------- "Seven Churches" (1985)
Sodom --------- "Agent Orange" (1989)
Exiter ---------- "Violence and Force" (1985)
Onslaught -------- "The Force" (1986)
Dark Angel ------- "Darkness Descends" (1986)
Sepultura --------- "Beneath the Remains" (1989)
I'm not much of a Slayer listener anymore, but I cannot deny how important and influental they are. Whenever I hear a death metal (or some other extreme metal) song, I almost always think "that sounds like Hell Awaits" or "that sounds like Reign in Blood". It's just insane how they were the blueprint for so much music moving forward.
Great show. Rich's Slaughter t-shirt really fits in :-)
1. Ride the Lightning
2. Killing is my business
3. The years of Decay
4. Hell awaits
5. Alice in hell
Great show loved it!
"Fistful of Metal" by Anthrax has a special place in my heart... I was 13-14 at the time it came out and I bought it because I thought the album cover was pretty badass \m/... And at the time I was familiar with stuff like Maiden, Priest, Sabbath, AC/DC, Van Halen, Deep Purple etc... So when I put the needle down and "Deathrider" cranked up, I totally went into WTF mode... but in a good way \m/
Great show! My top picks: Peace Sells, Ride the lightning, rust in peace.
Oh, great picks.🤩🤘

Finally someone mentioned coroner 👍
The bass work on Toxik World Circus!! Never heard this until today. Very cool Pete!
Another awesome display of knowledge by three experts. Kudos to Rich for running with the two old dogs and not missing a beat. Great job!! On the same page with all the choices but need explore Overkill more thanks to your high praise.
I'm almost as old as those guys. Lol.
@@MetalAsylumNJ No way!! Tough paper route for the other two. LOL. Been listening to the Overkill debut awesome great recommendation. Thanks
@@captainbeyond7469 Taking Over & Years Of Decay are absolutely essential thrashterpieces too!
Couldn’t argue with any of those selections. This show made me realise how many classic thrash metal albums there were during the 80’s early 90’s. My honourable mentions would be- Voivod, Coroner, Sepultura, Death Angel.
I’m surprised these guys didn’t even mention DA
Megadeth - So Far, So Good. . . So What!
Sepultura - Arise
Overkill - The Years of Decay
Forté - Stranger than Fiction
Testament - Souls of Black
Slayer - Show No Mercy

4. Among the Living/Spreading the Disease
5. The Gathering/The Legacy
6. Ironbound/Horrorscope

8. Five Serpents Teeth - Evile
this site just gets better and better
Pete, may I suggest you take SoT show on the road (in a post-covid world, of course)? I’m sure many on here, myself included, would buy a ticket to enjoy a live version of your show. HV Squares, special musical guests, merch table, interactive Q+A, etc.
“Fire In The Hole” by Lääz Rockit is one kick-ass song..
Agreed.
Kick ass song from their best album
No Coroner?!?
So many good thrash bands, hard to list all the favorites.
I just noticed...even I forgot! No More Color is classic!
No More Color right next to it.
Hirax, Infernal Majesty, The Great Kat, Razor, Hallows Eve, Coroner, Death Angel, Holy Moses, Onslaught, Havok, Municipal Waste, Pestilence, Sacrifice, Witchery, Bewitched, Toxic Holocaust.
Great topic! How about favorite thrash metal songs next?
My top 10: Puppets, Peace Sells, Hell Awaits, No Place for Disgrace, The Legacy, Eternal Devastation, Punishment for Decadence, Beneath the Remains, Spreading the Disease, Forward to Termination.
Sea of Tranquility got a mention on Alan Averill's (Lead singer of Primordial) podcast in Episode 36. The guest is Comedian, Drummer Steve Hughes and apparently he is a huge SOT fan.
Great Show Guys. IMO Rust in Peace is my favorite Thrash metal album. You have named some others that would rank also. I might also include Heavy Metal Maniac by Exciter.
Hands down the most steady “ Thrash Band” over their career is OVERKILL 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
They deserve more attention!
I can't express that comment any more than you did. In my top 5
That Toxik World Circus is something else. Cherishing my og Roadracer pressing. Total classic
Great list I grew up on most of these as a kid in the 80s! All hail the legends. I own most of these on vinyl or CD. I'm also really digging the newer thrash bands like Havok, Toxic Holocaust, Municipal Waste, Power Trip and Warbringer! Just as good as the classics many times
Good list guys! Would love to see you guys do this with death metal! If you do I'd fill one of the little boxes up! Lol appreciate the content as always. Hope you're all doing good!
Year of decay is a stunning album. Masterclass in metal.
Here's my top 10 in order "as of today":
10. Condition Critical - Extermination Plan
9. Flotsam and Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver
8. Overkill - The Years of Decay
7. Exodus - Fabulous Disaster (my favorite Exodus too Pete)
6. Slayer - Reign in Blood
5. Anthrax - Among the Living
4. Power Trip - Nightmare Logic
3. Megadeth - Rust in Peace
2. Metallica - Ride the Lightning
1. Powermad - Absolute Power
Great show guys!! Long live thrash!
Some picks worth mentioning:
Razor - Violent Restitution or Evil Invaders
Artillery - By Inheritance
Evildead - Annihilation of Civilization
Exumer - Possessed by Fire
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Mortal Sin - Face of Despair
Xentrix - For whose advantage
Watchtower - Control and resistance
Whiplash - Power and Pain
Brilliant picks, especially By Inheritance and For Whose Advantage
My top 10, not in order (though Beneath the Remains is my favorite thrash record of all time) and keeping it at one per band:
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
Exodus - Bonded by Blood
Coroner - No More Color
Sodom - Persecution Mania
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Megadeth - RIP
Deathrow - Deception Ignored
Metallica - Ride The Lightning
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Absolutely! I couldn't mention some of my other favorites but Sepultura definitely have some top 10 albums, including Beneath the Remains, Schizophrenia/ Morbid Visions...
just too many awesome ones to list.
Also;
Realm: Endless War, and Suiciety
Believer:Extraction From Mortality,and Sanity Obscure
Vengeance Rising:Human Sacrifice, and Once Dead
👍👍 right on. I think any list without No More Color on it is a joke.
Thrash metal got me through jr high school. I had a huge thrash metal cassette collection, and some vinyl. I don't listen to much thrash these days, but in the thumbnail for this video I saw many exact albums I had owned and was astounded! Stuff by Deathrow, Blood Feast, Nuclear Assault(vinyl), Exodus, Anthrax, Voivod(vinyl), Overkill, Virus(vinyl), Dark Angel, Slayer's debut...crazy. Ahh memories.
Morbid Saint - Spectrum of Death
Sodom - In the Sign of Evil EP
Artillery - By Inheritance
Thanks Rich for pulling out F&J Doomsday. I was watching and it was almost at the end and couldn't believe no one had mentioned F&J
I realy enjoyd this video 🤘
I haven’t seen the video yet, but Flotsam and Jetsam’s “No Place For Disgrace” better be on this list.
It's on my list!
I’ll go with “Doomsday”, instead.
That is my favorite Flotsam And Jetsam album. I do love the debut Doomsday For The Deceiver big time as well.
Awesome Awesome episode!!
Exilent picks from you all :) i agree with you Pete..
Megadeth - Peace Selles
Destruction - Infernal overkill
Megadeth - So Far so Good..so What
Overkill - Under The Influence
Sodom - Obsessed by Cruelty
Kreator - Terrible Certainly
Testament - Practice What you Preach
Metallica - Kill em All
Sepultura - Schizophrenia
Annihilator - Never Neverland
Pete, big kudos for putting "Fabulous Disaster" on the throne - you speak the truth! Plus, their "Overdose" is one of the best AC/DC cover tunes of all time.
Great choices by all of you!
Act of God - Znöwhite
Twisted Into Form - Forbidden
No Place for Disgrace - Flotsam and Jetsam
Ride the Lightning - Metallica
Mind Wars - Holy Terror
By Inheritance - Artillery
Master Project Genesis - Target
Brain Damage - Vendetta
Soldiers of Misfortune - Sacrifice
Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? - Megadeth
How about the same episode with the other "younger" guys from the square? I would love to see their take for I am from the same generation as the guys from this panel.
HM:
- Holy Moses - The New Machine of Liechtenstein (Sabina Rules🤘)
- Artillery - By Inheritance
- Mortal Sin - Every Dog Has Its Day
- Xentrix - For Whose Advantage?
Love artillery just discovered them recently
Atrophy’s second album was Violent By Nature....classic! Sabbat History Of A Time To Come is top tier stuff. Whiplash Insult To Injury is also an underrated masterpiece.
Atrophy’s ‘Slipped Through the Cracks’ is probably my fav thrash song
Violent Restitution is an absolute juggernaut from start-to-finish. It’s a perfect thrash album.
yes, Razor rips and a great album indeed. Furthermore, I don't think there's any need to mention the already overly well known obvious mainstream thrash, speed, thrash-death, etc albums by all the sodoms, slayers, megadeths, sepulturas, kreators, metallicas, overkills etc etc... Instead, some tops that are more interesting for me:
At the pinnacle is Dark Angel-Darkness Descends--the definition of thrash made real for me.
The list is huge but....: Sacrifice-forward to termination, Slaughter (the real slaughter)-strappado, Pyracanda-two sides of a coin, Voivod-Killing Technology, Sadus-Illusions, Hobbs Angel of Death-s/t, D.B.C -Universe, Acid Storm-Biotronics genetics, Mortal Sin-Mayhemic destruction, Agent Steel-Sceptics Apocalypse, Acid Reign-Obnoxious, Sabbat-dreamweaver, Hexenhaus-At the edge of eternity, Cyclone-inferior to None...Forced Entry-Uncertain Future, Powerlord-The awakening, Exumer-Possessed by Fire, Razor-Violent Restitution, Minotaur-power...
@@recordmass6298 Great minds think alike my friend! 👍 Razor is an insanely underrated band. Every time I listen to Violent Restitution, my head gets ripped off. Same thing with Shotgun Justice and Open Hostility. Those albums completely scorch the earth. Lol. Also agree about the Big 4. While Puppets, Reign in Blood, Peace Sells and Among The Living are absolute classics and highly influential, obviously, they are NOT the “End all be All” of Thrash albums. The Big 4 are a good way to get into metal/early thrash, but the rabbit goes insanely deeper with better albums by, arguably, better bands. Some of my favorites are Evil Dead-Annihilation of Civilization, Vio-lence-Oppressing the Masses, Uncle Slam-Will Work for Food, Mortal Sin-Mayhemic Destruction among a handful of others. Now is a great time for Thrash in general. So many underground bands right now putting out INSANELY good albums. Look up these two bands called Critical Defiance and Thrash Wall. They’re debut albums are absolutely phenomenal examples of what people are calling the “New Wave of Old School Thrash” and are brutal/in-your-face thrash done properly. There’s actually an official YT channel called New Wave of Old School Thrash, if you didn’t know, it’s “ground zero” for new albums by modern thrash bands. A complete treasure trove of new stuff. 💪🙌👍🔥
@@sadboi7537 Yes indeed!, Critical Defiance is great stuff! Good to see people that are deep into thrash! wether old or new but quality stuff amongst all the mediocre albums being released
A couple connections to my area are that Alex Perialas is a professor at Ithaca College and one of Overkill's guitarists Rob Cannavino is from my town.
Awesome show!!!
Here is mine... Gonna tell you up front, people rarely agree with my choices...
10 - Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
9 - Megadeth - Rust in Piece
8 - Destruction - The Antichrist
7 - Heathen - Victims of Deception
6 - Slayer - Show no Mercy
5 - Testament - Practice What You Preach
4 - Forbidden - Twisted Into Form
3 - Exodus - Fabulous Disaster
2 - Overkill - Years of Decay
1 - Kreator - Enemy of God (this is the perfect album for me... my fave of all times)
Honorable mentions:
Xentrix - For Whose Advantage
Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare
Nuclear Assault - Handle With Care
Sodom - Agent Orange
Horrorscope should also be on the list. It’s Overkill’s best album, without a doubt.
Great record, to be sure, but “Years of Decay” destroys it. Not even close.
@@benedictdonald4338 Destroys it?? I dunno man. I’d say take the best songs from both and make one epic monster. The guitar tone on Horrorscope is one of the best tones on any metal album. That “chainsaw crunch” is incredible. Dimebag heard Years of Decay and wanted Terry Daye to try and replicate that tone in Cowboys, which I believe he successfully did to the Max.
Absolutely. Horrorscope is by far their best.
@@benedictdonald4338 I'm with you. Years Of Decay is my favorite, followed by Taking Over. I skip most of Horrorscope. I only really dig Coma & Soulitude.
Great list but geez this is so hard haha... Because I feel there are so many albums with comparable quality. Every thrash band more or less had a stand out album and many bands are still going strong. Since thrash is my favorite metal genre and my favourite genre of all tike I had too many picks and coming with a top 10 was hard. Sadly I couldn't include the newer bands because it was just so difficult. I have gone with one album per band like pete
1. Metallica-...And justice for all
2. Megadeth-Rust in peace
3. Exodus-Fabulous disaster
4. Testament-The new order
5. Heathen-victims of deception
6. Sepultura-arise
7. Coroner-grin (not really thrash but has some elements and coroner were a thrash band so will give the benefit of doubt)
8. Artillery-by inheritance
9. Slayer-hell awaits
10. Kreator-extreme aggression
Pleasure to kill Kreator, dark angel darkness descends., bonded by blood, Sodom's persecution mania ; Sepultura' s Schizophrenia to me are the thrash metal albums that created the whole death metal genre. they are so fast and heavy 🤘
Great albums. Sepulturas first two even more so potentially though also influential to black metal. To me bonded by blood doesn’t sound much different from kill em all on the extremity scale - others on the list much more violent.
I'll divide mine into more "conventional" thrash and extreme thrash. 10 of each.
Slayer - Hell Awaits
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Megadeth - Rust in Peace
Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Exodus - Tempo of the Damned
Overkill - Ironbound
Sodom - Presecution Mania
Artillery - By Inheritance
Testament - The Legacy
Sepultura - Arise
Absu - Tara
Possessed - Seven Churches
Aura Noir - Deep Tracts of Hell
Destroyer 666 - Phoenix Rising
Legion of the Damned - Sons of the Jackal
Nifelheim - Servants of Darkness
Usurper - Skeletal Season
Desaster - The Oath of an Iron Ritual
Toxic Holocaust - Conjure and Command
Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
Having watched about a million of your videos, I can say this is the only time I've really seen Steve in real lighting. Cool Steve!!!
Not sure if anyone has mentioned it yet but the other Atrophy album I think you were thinking of is called Violent By Nature. Great show as always.
I agree with most of their picks and was glad to see Metal Church at least mentioned because they would have been in my top 5. Some great honorable mentions too. A few I used to listen to not mentioned were Wrathchild America, Meliah Rage, Heretic and Holy Terror. I'm surprised nobody brought up Death Angel though. Makes me want to break out a few now.
A lot of awesome picks there, I always think Artillery are such an underrated band, their first 3 are incredible euro Thrash albums, especially Terror squad and By Inheritance.. Maybe the unique vocals put some people off tho I always liked them!
Hahaha This was a trip! a video of other people from the Hudson Valley talking about metal to pop up on my feed. I bought my copy of Toxic - World Circus from one of the band members when he was set up at stormville flea market. Been to Rock Fantasy a few times, Great store. I was set up for a few years at the flea market at the dutchess mall and sold mostly horror movies on VHS, along with metal, arcade machines, old toys and oddities.
I love thrash metal! My all time favorite albums are Rust In Peace, Reign In Blood, Master of Puppets, Among the Living, Pleasure To Kill and a lot of other thrash metal albums that are great!
Dark Angel " Darkness Descend" the Greatest Thrash Metal album of all Time !!!
Just got into this band...Black Prophecies is my favorite from that album
@@SPak-rt2gb The next 2 albums are great too
@@majorleerager7126 I always preferred "Leave Scars", probably because that was the first one I ever heard from them.
@@profile1674 Leave Scars is a great album too, actually I prefer Ron Rinehart's voice over Don Doty's, but I think the songs on Leave Scars tend to be unnecessarily long
It's just a small complaint
Dark Angel is my favorite Thrash Metal band
@@majorleerager7126 Yeah, that's my favorite thing about that album, Ron's vocal delivery. It sounds as if the guy has two sets of lungs! I actually never noticed the length of the songs on "Leave..." to be honest. Still, awesome band!
Not a huge thrash fan but these albums would be my top 10:
1. Megadeth - Rust in Peace
2. Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
3. Metallica - Ride the Lightning
4. Overkill - The Years of Decay
5. Coroner - Mental Vortex
6. Vektor - Black Future
7. Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence
8. Kreator - Coma of Souls
9. Voivod - Killing Technology
10. Testament - The New Order
some great picks! ...guess my top 10 would be:
Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion
Voivod - Dimension Hatross
Blind Illusion - The Sane Asylum
Detente - Recognize No Authority
Destruction - Sentence of Death (yes, only an e.p., but it's perfect to my ears)
Bathory - s/t
DRI - Four of a Kind
Deathrow- Deception Ignored
Death Angel - Frolic Through the Park
Holy Terror - Mind Wars
I saw kreator and coroner on that tour at the brewery in Raleigh NC. One of the most memorable shows I ever saw.
Rust in Peace, And Justice for All, Tempo and Bllod In Blood out from Exodus, Testament's last record was amazing, Testament's Low, Hatriot's Heroes of Origin, Nelson's After the Rain (Only if you were paying attention). ;)
Great show !
Reign in blood my 1
Obsessed by cruelty was such a bad recorded aweful noise, I had that vinyl album and played it alot to annoy the house.
But Tom was obsessed by his work and improved the band like crazy !
Testament got overgone in this video, I would have it in top 5 for sure !
Memorable mentions : Coroner, Celtic Frost and Anihilator ! Cheers ✌🏻🚀🌍👍🏼
Great show!!! Being a Thrash guy since 84 I really loved the picks.
Love the comments about Testament also IMO way better than Anthrax which I never liked that much either. Narrow to ten is a hard as there are many other gems, such as Coroner, Sacrifice, Nasty Savage ( self titled album), Death Angel, Suicidal Angels , Artillety ufff . Thanks great show

Testament is my favorite thrash band. It’s not even close, and “Titans of creation” is an unbelievable record.
I'm an old dude, so I still vote for The Legacy (if I cannot vote for the live at DAO EP, where I'm on the cover)
I love Testament.
New Order for me
@@integrity101 The guys made good points that those two are right up there
Can't stand that album or similar ones, they use the artificial overproduced production template.
@@recordmass6298 And it sounds crushing on a great system, trust me.
OMG the topic of my entire teenage life. I was obsessed with the genre throughout those years and was able to see all the great albums arrive fresh into the niche record shops as we eagerly hunted them down. Still love em today and my top 10 in no particular order (couldn't do it) are
Kreator - Extreme Agression
Sacred Reich - The American Way
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Megadeth - Killing is My Business
Slayer - Reign in Blood
Anthrax - Among The Living
Sepultura - Beneath the Remains
Forbidden - Forbidden Evil
Possessed - Seven Churches
Nuclear Assault - Handle With Care
Some HM would be Testament - Souls of Black Acid Reign - The Fear Exodus fabulous Disaster and Exhorder - Slaughter in the Vatican
I rode my 10 speed 6 miles each way with a little snow on the ground in chicago to hit peacock alley and get a new "cassette" I grabbed anthrax spreading the disease. Ended up having enough money and got tales of terror by Hallows eve. Great time to grow up. The birth of thrash
Thanks for the insights boys. Testament's first two albums are absolutely incinerating my face.
This was a GREAT one. Unbelievable picks and Rich pulling out all of his albums. Great content here. In my opinion Lamb of God is thrash however Frontman Randy Blythe thinks they are more of a punk band ? Also that first Metal Church album is thrash.
Many bands mentioned in the video and in the comments by thrash fans. All your picks are great of course! Two picks from me are Violent Force and Necronomicon. For those who never listen to them..check 'em.
Good you guys mentioned Forbidden, Metal Church, Sepultura, Annihilator, Nuclear Assault, Heathen and Flotsam and Jetsam at the end of the show . F&J deserves MUCH more love and respect. Their first two records are amongst the best trash albums ever! And they still kick ass! How about Sacred Reich, Suicidal Tendencies, Powermad (Absolute Power RULEZZZ!). Satan’s Court in the Act is also Proto-trash (more than Raven). My nr 1 Trash Album of all times is still Fistful of Metal by Anthrax. German band Warrant’s The Enforcer is an absolute must for every Trash fan. Just an amazing album, what a pity they didn’t last.
Shame on all of us. How could anyone forget Death Angel?!!! Another cool band was Abattoir (vicious Attack, with a killer cover of Ace of Spades).
