    2:15:30 - I was going to say, "that was me!" giving you the sign of the hammer from my car, but I realize you're in Boston. I did the same thing to some guy with a Manowar bumper sticker in NY.

    In summary for me: "Hail to England" and "Into Glory Ride" IS Manowar (cover art and music-amazing). The first 6 Manowar albums I love in general - Ross the Boss era (especially first 4-mandatory) and as a big Bathory fan (whether Quorthon liked to discuss it or not xD) that Manowar influence has always been there in such an elegant way. Love it. Nice session guys. Cheers, Al

      I actually saw Quorthon claim in an old interview that Manowar was the impetus for him to make a stylistic change for those Viking era albums. You can tell. He captured the spirit for sure. Thanks for watching!

    So there’s been a used Manowar CD sitting at my local FYE for months. I couldn’t remember which album it was but after this stream I immediately went to pick it up: it was The Triumph of Steel. I’m going to give all credit to Jason’s glowing recommendation! Great stream guys 🍻

    • @HeavyMetallurgy
      @HeavyMetallurgy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah... that Achilles opus really should have been the album closer, or at least the second to last track. Too much and scattered to be an album opener. Thanks for watching!

    • @metalandbeersnob
      @metalandbeersnob 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve never quite heard a song like the opener. It’s so ridiculously over the top that the album is worth owning just to have proof of how ridiculous this band can be. They could have easily made it a better album by changing the song placement or by cutting out the 5 minute long solos, but I guess that’s just not what Manowar does lol

    • @letstalkmetal
      @letstalkmetal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@metalandbeersnob The story when Triumph of Steel came out was that putting 'Achilles' first on the album was the band saying 'F YOU' to the label who had asked them to do a more commercial friendly album. If true, the song order makes a lot of sense and is much better! :)

    It's easy to ridicule them for the loin cloths and chaps (which they haven't worn since 1989) but I first heard them on college radio like you did, and I had no idea what they looked like but the music stood out from all the other metal I heard.

    Cool how Edge of Sanity introduce Marty to Manowar. Man Edge of Sanity is such a underrated Death Metal band.
    Anyway Great list guys. Personally I would go Kings of Metal followed by Hail to England and Into Glory Ride

    Went on a Manowar binge last year and picked up the first 5 on CD. Ross and his other bands the Dictators and Shakin Street are killer. A lot of history there.

    I wonder how the new guitarist and drummer feel, that they're basically "hired guns" because on the Manowar website there are no photos of the current band, not even a mention of the NAMES of these two guys. I guess Joey doesn't consider them official band members.

  • @robertmorris8371
    @robertmorris8371 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The first six albums are all solid for me I even like triumph of steel but I have to agree with alan on sign of the hammer being favourite it is the sleeper in their back catalogue

    • @HeavyMetallurgy
      @HeavyMetallurgy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Robert! Thanks so much for watching. Even though some of the rankings were a shock, I think everyones passion for the band was on point in this video. We had a blast catching up with Manowar and talking about it. Hail and Kill!

  • @RickNBacker
    @RickNBacker 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's too bad that the Shankle/Rhino lineup wasn't allowed creative input. There's a video on TH-cam of a live show with Shankle doing a classical guitar intro to a song (I think it was Hail and Kill) and I would have liked to see them introduce that feature into their music, almost take it in a prog-metal direction. That 28-minute mess on Triumph of Steel proves that Joey has no idea how to write prog epics. Rhino was the most skilled of all their drummers and the two of them could have taken the band in a different direction but with Ross gone, Joey had to be in control with his constant chugga-chugga rhythms.

    Eris Adams is born in 1952, same year with Paul Stanley the info about him born in 1954 is wrong.He graduated in 1970. 1.Into Glory Ride
    2. Sign Of The Hammer 3.Hail to England or the reverse
    4. Battle Hymns
    5. Kings Of Metal
    6. Triumph Of Steel
    7. Fighting The World
    8. Warriors Of The World
    9. Louder Than Hell

      70 years old AND still sounds pretty damn awesome? Wow. What a voice and a talent. Even on the 2 later albums where the material clearly isn't their best, Eric still stands tall amongst the riffs. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

    I lost all interest after Ross The Boss left, without his riffs they just aren't the same. but out of the first 6, I would say:
    1. sign of the Hammer
    2. battle hymns
    3. hail to England
    4. into glory ride
    5. kings of metal
    6. fighting the world

    • @HeavyMetallurgy

      They certainly changed after Ross left, but I like some of their output. Thanks for the ranking. Hard to go wrong with any of those albums, but Fighting the world I would agree, should be at the bottom of the list. Thanks for watching!

    Gods of war is not that bad. It contains Die for metal one of my favorite Manowar tracks. I love of Lords of steel. Kings of metal is my favorite with a close second Warriors of the world.

    • @HeavyMetallurgy
      @HeavyMetallurgy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gods of War suffers hard with all the filler between the metal tracks. They sound more focused on concept and orchestration rather than writing solid metal anthems. My opinion of course! Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching.
