    You guy’s enthusiasm for the shit Maiden albums (post reunion except for dance of death) is so goddamn infectious that I ordered all of them last night. I know I’m going to regret it because I’ve culled them once before from my collection. Goddamn you all.

    Loved both of these videos. Thanks for doing such an extensive dive, guys. And I'm with you, Marty, I think A Matter Of Life And Death is the best of the second run of albums with Bruce. I get the length can be exhausting, but the songs are so memorable.

    • @saltpeter7429

      Yes, I agree. AMOLAD blows me away, it stands on it's own as a classic Maiden album. The only one out of the Bruce return catalogue that blows my mind, the other ones are good ( Brave New World was a great return to form) but the bangers to duds ratio starts leveling out. I think I like maybe 4 songs on BOOK OF SOULS, for a double cd that's not that impressive.

    Really enjoyed these videos. I love Maiden and there's nothing more entertaining than hearing people talk about Maiden for 3 hours straight. Keep em coming, I could watch 10 more hours of this.
    Th only thing I gotta say (hot take incoming): I think The Final Frontier is a phenomenal album. Sure, it has its weak points and is far from perfect. But Coming Home, The Alchemist, Isle of Avalon, The Talisman, When the Wild Wind Blows are all fucking bangers imho. Maybe I got a bit of nostalgia attached to it, since it was the first Maiden record I was old enough to buy on release day, but I don't really get the hate for it.

    • @saltpeter7429
      @saltpeter7429 ปีที่แล้ว

      When the Wild Wind blows is in fact legendary. I never even made it to it! I gave the cd away before I even got to it. A few years later I was telling a friend I didnt care for it, he challenged me with WILD WINDS, I admitted I had not heard it.
      One play through and I was blown away, great tune.

    A Matter of Life and Death is a fantastic album. Only critique is occasionally the chorus repeats too my times, but they're not bad, just too repetitive. For me, it's right up there with the classic albums.

    Alright sunday morning and finally finished this great episode. I had to go out and hang with friends on friday haven't seen like minded friends in weeks only work folk and that sucks, so I attended the Ironflame practice and they played new songs for the upcoming album and it's going to be awsome but then again Andrew is a freak of nature and is a true metal soldier. I don't if you ever heard the band I played in with Andrew back in the early 2000's called Wilderkin. It was total Clutch and Scissorfight worship. But there were some heavy grinders in the catalog. We have it up on bandcamp.
    Anyways, so yesterday I listened to X Factor for the first time. I always like the singles but never gave the album a full listen. I dug it and think I can listen to this a good bit. I might listen to Virtual XI but maybe not waste my time from the sounds of it haha. I agree I don't think they really wrote for his style of vocal.
    I remember when Brave came out and I was stoked on it and I still enjoy that and really like Out The Silent Planet and plenty of others on there. I saw that tour and it was my first seeing them. Motorhead and Dio was openers and that was the first and only time I saw Dio also.
    Dance of Death I didn't get until last year and not sure why but I love that one and have listened many times. Saw that tour, I wanna say Queensryche and Halford opened that tour. I have the dvd of this tour two and it's a good dvd and helped me remember that set.
    Absolutely love Matter of Life and Death, it's definitely a go to for me in this era of Maiden. It connected with me out of the gate.
    Rarely do I ever listen to Final Frontier. I didn't hate it and every couple years I try to give it a chance. I mean look it took me almost 20 years to connect with Dance, so maybe there is hope haha.
    Book of Souls connected with me and it got a lot of play for awhile. Now I really only listen to it maybe every year and half since it release, and always really enjoy it when I listen. I bought the picture disc record store day release of Empire of the Clouds. Just to collect never opened it haha. Speaking of collecting I got that steel Eddie treasure box of cds of all the singles they released years ago.
    I instantly jumped on the I love Senjutsu right away cause it's Maiden and I just wanted to love it. Now, I still stand by it, but I'm not as gung ho on it. I definitely agree if they cut them songs down and quit repeating the riffs over and over again those songs could have been better. There are a couple I'd like to see in the live set. Days of Future Past, Hell on Earth.
    I love Kings enthusiasm it's infectious haha. Looking forward to that Kiss one. I'll just say I defend some of those 80's albums I really dig them.

      Excellent summary. I cant say I dont agree with almost every point you make. The SENJUTSU thing, lol, I want to like it as well. So I do. I dont understand people actually expecting a new PIECE or SEVENTH at this late hour, we get a pretty good out put from cats who have every right to be over and done.

    One of my main complaints of the return Bruce era is the REPETITION choruses on some songs. It's a shame.
    My fave since the reunion is Senjutsu.
    The prog elements in Maiden have always been there in certain songs since the debut.
    The X Factor I think its good instrumentally speaking, however It's s shame for me (regardless of what King mentioned concerning the production etc which is true) because Blaze just doesn´t cut it overall. Just awkward. He doesn´t fit the music for me most of the time. I think there would have been many other favorable options out there that would have raised the album to a good status. With Bayley I get the feeling I`m listening to someone that just showed up to sing in a Karaoke

    Fun stream as always. As I’ve stated before the post Bruce reunion stuff is pretty weak for me. It was like a forced re marriage. Like both parties were forced to get back together for the sake of the children or money in this case😆. Bruce was actually doing better music than anything he did when he got back into Maiden. Knock the Blaze stuff all you want at least it had its own identity. I get it, Maiden was in serious trouble and it needed to change but the post reunion material is so generic. Priest’s post reunion material is much stronger except for one album that also is plagued with a false progressive tag. People keep throwing around the term “Progressive”. Maiden have never been that….ever. Go back and listen to a Gentle Giant, King Crimson, ELP, Yes, early Floyd, Eloy, album. That’s progressive. Or on the metal side, Voivod, Fates Warning, Dream Theater, Atheist, Gorguts etc. There is none of that in any Iron Maiden album and those guys grew up on all the 70s bands I mentioned. Length doesn’t mean progressive. There are plenty of three and half minute progressive rock tunes out there. People seem to forget that. “Let There Be Rock” is a longer song, for AC/DC anyway. That’s definitely not a progressive tune. Im being a bit silly here but you get where I’m going with this.
    I know I’m coming off ranty but people keep using the term progressive to defend current era Maiden and I’ve just grown tired of it. Like it is way to justify an hour and a half of boring tired material. Good Progressive material is far from boring. Granted Maiden fans seem to eat it up because the post reunion albums all have 90% or higher rating while No Prayer and Fear have low scores on M.A. But I think Virtual 11 is decent album so what the hell do I know? By the way I agree the Angel and the Gambler is maddening! That chorus is one of the worst in metal history. Hahaha.

    @thomashubner697 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I wonder why Blaze on his new album sounds so much better than in Iron Maiden. On the other hand Bruce sounds bad on the last two Maiden albums so maybe it is a production thing. They probably don't even try to record perfect takes. Or Harris and Shirley have lost their ears. Good show guys!

    • @kingfowley2082
      @kingfowley2082 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      that nlaze record has so much studio tricks to it. there's parts where his voice almost sounds completely computerized. not that i don't think he still can sing. it's just the way they did it. i'd of rather heard him more real/honest and not so studio fixed up.

    • @metalneanderthal
      @metalneanderthal 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kingfowley2082 as you know more than I do, you actually sing in a band, a big one at that😉🤘. Being Vocalist is extremely taxing. Ive seen them all change as they get older. It’s just happens. Do you use studio tricks? Keep singing in your classic style but not nearly as well? Or change your style to sing in a new range. I honestly don’t know the best answer. I think it depends on the band. Don Dokken, bless him goes out there and pretty much bombs every night now. No backing tracks, no tricks but he basically just talks the lyrics and it sounds just terrible. Then you have Ozzy that has used background singers, backing tracks and studio tricks for years. His voice or the one we hear is completely artificial. Then we have Barney Greenway that can’t do his signature grind/death growls anymore so he completely changed his vocal approach. It’s genuine and I can respect it but it completely changes the tone of Napalm to me. I don’t know man. Age….it’s a bitch!

      @@metalneanderthal it really is an age thing. im from be yourself. but for me dokken never really sang live so 'hard'. its really bad now. paul stanley a fave of mine i shot and flies in the highest of parts and choruses. id rather hear crowd sing those parts and just back away from mic. but still has the enrgy and drive., it really is a case to case thing

      @@kingfowley2082 yeah totally right. That opens a whole other discussion too. Some bands are better in the studio and some are better live. Then there are the really great bands. They are great at both.

    Guys, I gave this 50 mins and just had to stop watching. I was really enjoying this but the adverts, man there is way to many adverts cutting in and ruining the mood.
    I get you guys want to make some dollar but a 3+ hour conversation and a stream of adverts every 10 mins is just too much.
    I’d rather you guys had 20/30 mins of adverts upfront or I’d even pay a fee to skip all adverts.

      Hi Wayne! I just turned on monetization a couple of weeks ago and didn't have the time to go through all the research. Will try to figure out how to refine it moving forward, but I guess I'm just used to seeing ads on shows as its a common occurrence. You're the first complaint, so I wont take it lightly, but I'm also not going to apologize for trying to make a few pennies off of something we would be doing anyways. Thanks for your input. Take care.

      @@HeavyMetallurgy hey Marty, I don’t expect you to apologise for making money. Heck I’d be trying to make some money if I was in your shoes. I do get it completely.
      My point was the adverts just seemed too much to me. It felt like every few minutes and there was always 2 adverts, one you could skip after 5 seconds and a second that you had to watch the full advert. I honestly counted at least 5 of these interruptions in the time I was watching. To me it just felt like too much and broke my immersion in your conversation to the point it was annoying and my annoyance outweighed wanting to carry on watching.
      I did enjoy what I watched and I will go back and try to finish watching despite the adverts 👍
