@nicksimadis2086 Thanks! Sure, I can do a manual swap update video soon and talk about how everything's been doing, and show driving! 👍 and yeah maybe some b roll would have been nice here haha

Wow how I wish there was a group like this for the Renault TCM which is identical in all respects but the code. Mine has a problem with the internal temperature of the unit, it reads up to around 80 degrees and randomly fails and reads 0 or near degrees, around that time I get a check gearbox error so I assume its not liking the temperature differential. I have pulled a ford tcm apart and Im 99% confident its getting the temperature from a chip on the lower board ATIC91C5 STmicro part which I can find no data on but assume its some version of the other ST automotive MCUs ST make. I have the replacement chip but I suspect it would need programming. My question is would you know if the code loaded on this chip is done directly by some factory software or would it be loaded by a boot loader, if so I could place the chip and hopefully it might sort itself, if not Im stuffed. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. I have purchased a new TCM but it would have to be fitted by the agent so that is my cover if I were to damage the existing intermittent one. Me being me I would lave to fix the existing one if possible. Personally I suspect the code is loded directly into the chip as I cant find any flash memory that I believe would be large enough to hold the code required. I can only find a small serial eeprom which I suspect only holds the VIN etc. Cheers for a great video

As far as I can tell without opening up one of the TCMs, at least on the Ford DPS6 side of things, the primary micro is actually an Infineon TriCore series like the PCM is. That ST chip could do any number of things, and depending on where you get it from depends on if it would be blank or not.

@@wcvp yes the primary mcu is SAK-TC1766-192F80HL infineon and it does have quite a bit of flash memory so very likely the main program is stored on it. The ATIC91C5 is on the board with the driver mosfets for the clutch and select motors. There appears to be one undocumented chip per motor A2C193600 which Im sure is a special as the part number looks suspiciously similar to that of the PCB P/n. So Im thinking the ATIC91C5 is some sort of controller specifically for the motors and is used to obtain the internal temperature, firstly because its in a good place to get the driver temperature and its got a heat sink mounting on the back of the SMD package. I obtained a new one from Aliexpress so Im sure it would be blank, interesting they give no description of what the device is just its part number so who knows where it actually came from but its in OEM SMD mounting tape so it looks kosha. What Im going to do is monitor the temperature vai the OBD part and try putting some forced air over the whole TCM and see if that helps, I quite like trying to analyse problems and work arounds.

During the swap, it was brought to my attention that ForScan does the same thing and is a better program

I didn't understand where to find the correct firmware to download. The naming of the files is confusing. I need the firmware for the manual focus 2.0 170cv gasoline, but I can't find the file name for the download.
