For anyone watching this you do NOT need this $3000 scan tool (Autel IM608) to do the parameter reset. At least on a 2009 Lincoln MKS (push button). Apparently the Autel MP808 is capable ($699 scanner). The function was pretty well hidden! I believe it was: Hot Functions > IMMO keys > PATS Functions > (Wait 10 min) > Parameter Reset. Once done, press any key fob button, turn ignition off, then on. Voila! No need to reprogram keys. My Autel MP808 was able to do this but my stupid Topdon T-Ninja 1000 (a dedicated locksmith tool) kept failing to access security system and tripping the immobilizer!
Yeah, would do but didn't write the vin, making it have a vin mismatch. This had been my challenge over time because some lights would be and not all customers like that
@@Jj_9457 I'm actually not sure about the VIN write function. The ECM my customer used was preprogrammed to her VIN before it shipped. Also, I believe the MP808 only does remote programming. It does keys on a few cars, if I remember, but hit or miss. I would look at the Autel IM608 if you're trying to program chip keys to the IMMO system.
@@Ken-1im608 is the bomb but if you are not a licensed locksmith in your state, id wait until you find out if Autel enrolls into Nastf VSP required program. Soon Autel may only be accessible for licensed locksmiths for programning applications. As far as diagnostic, it should be accessible by every owner
@@garybalcom715 Flagship programs it based on the VIN number you give them. But the truck will not start until the PCM is initialized. At least that's how it is on my 2013 F150.

I have a 2019 Ford Fusion Hybrid and replaced the DC to DC Inverter because it kept throwing a code and said service battery charging station. So I replaced the Inverter then used Cardaq and updated everything but then I got the code P161A-00 - Incorrect Response From Immobilizer Control Module. So the car won't start at all. I assume I don't have to do all the steps you did but just the RFA key one?

Yes to program a lot of the newer models especially on PCM or BCM, you would need online access to Ford servers using FJDS, IDS, or FDRS to download and program correct files for the particular VIN.

Could i get a PCM off another ford edge with EPA catalytic converters and just change the VIN over to that one so i dont have to buy California catalytic converters..? I have a 08 ford explorer sport track 4.0L With bad pcm. I replace it with another one from Ares Technologies but the local locksmith cant married the replaced computer with the keys. Ares says that it has to be 2 uncloned key in order to start the key programing to their pcm. With the Ares pcm installed and switching both keys ON the security light turns on 4 second then shuts off and stay off and for locksith guy say that the way security light acts indicate that there is a problem with the pcm Ares sold me. Locksmith guy say: the security light should be blinking with the keys on. I will get 2 keys from ford with diferent code each one and then see what happen next. Any advice I will appreciate.

Customer had a new computer/pcm preprogramed before installation so I’m not sure if I need to do a parameter reset or immo replacement option or just reprogram the keys. This will be my 1st on a ford as far as PCM replacement, I’ve done many Chryslers/dodge/Jeep when the customer replaced the immobilizer I did immo replaced & transferred the secret key & then reprogrammed the keys but never a new PCM that has already been pre programmed so that’s why I didn’t know if all I needed to do was just reprogram the keys back to the ford Fiesta since the computer/PCM has already been pre programmed.

No, it will not since the software in 508 and 608 is totally different in diagnostic side. But you can use j2534 device with your pc to do j2534 Diag and programming with OEM softwares.
I can answer what the going rate is, because I have called multiple locksmiths, and they quoted anywhere from 150.00 to 275.00. Unbelievable! I bought my own scanner, 145.00, and will do it myself.

In the “new” vin number under service records it lists the mileage as 666,666 in Dec2021. I know it’s my truck how do I prove it? That’s definitely right. But, you can retrieve the as-built data of motorcraftservice.com and still code the module and will have the same result. You can watch the video with power steering for Ford Mustang and you can do the same thing.

The part numbers needs to match identically normally. But if the all the engines system is the same in both cars you should be able to program it. Needing a second key changes model to model. If you have a metal key, most likely you will need another one.
My autel im508 just keeps failing the reset 😑 I swapped modules just to test my new expensive scanner and made a running vehicle not run anymore… not happy
if you’ve got a problem with any of the systems on the network the whole thing will go down. schedule a diag, because unless you have a DBA to search through the splice pack, you better start pulling control modules and break out the oscilloscope. call a diag pro dude.

But now I know that there's no way to do it with that scan tool, the only way to be done is with an OEM software such as IDS/FJDS. I thought you had any other method. PS: I fix wire harness.
My doesn’t have that I’ve bought a new version and it doesn’t do it either autel company are crooks you end up spending up to 3-4000 to get one that does a lot might as well get one off tool truck
Actually it is around $3000 even cheaper. They even have IM608 pro II for the same price. There are different cheaper devices less than $1000 which can do it and they are too high end devices such as Topdon.
I have a Topdon T-Ninja 1000 obd key programmer and the parameter reset function is available in the menu. I have a PCM swap on a Lincoln MKS tomorrow, we'll see if it works. The device has mixed reviews. I've only used it twice in the 18 months I've had it, will report back results
Actually there was nothing wrong with the computer. The technician did wrong diagnosis. I was there only for programming. But usually a lot of times misfires with coils and immobilizer related issues can be caused by PCM.

I replaced the PCM in my 2013 F150 and used Forscan to initialize the PCM via BCM to my existing keys. Very easy process .
Was it a junkyard pcm? Or did you have to buy it and have someone else program it? I’m in need of this for a 2010 explorer 4.0

If module is preprogrammed already, parameter reset only. If key info is stored in PCM which I don’t think, than you need to program 2 keys minimum.

The car will not start with one key if you're not the Dealer or a Locksmith. It's impossible without two keys for security reasons.

Vin number is written in AS-BUILT data or coding data which gets transferred during first process right after we swap the modules.
And why not show the Vin process of built data because show the Audience what a scan tool is gone do for them is showing them nothing wow

The original vin number is in many places on the vehicle. You just need to examine it carefully.

My doesn’t have that I’ve bought a new version and it doesn’t do it either autel company are crooks you end up spending up to 3-4000 to get one that does a lot might as well get one off tool truck
That scanner is $5000 Wth… can it be done with any scanner?
Actually it is around $3000 even cheaper. They even have IM608 pro II for the same price. There are different cheaper devices less than $1000 which can do it and they are too high end devices such as Topdon.
I have a Topdon T-Ninja 1000 obd key programmer and the parameter reset function is available in the menu. I have a PCM swap on a Lincoln MKS tomorrow, we'll see if it works. The device has mixed reviews. I've only used it twice in the 18 months I've had it, will report back results

Actually there was nothing wrong with the computer. The technician did wrong diagnosis. I was there only for programming. But usually a lot of times misfires with coils and immobilizer related issues can be caused by PCM.

after parameter reset which function u used to program smart key [all key lost or add key]?
I didn’t have to reprogram the key to start the car. Two types of parameter resets were enough. Because key information is not stored in PCM.

It does but not in all models or type of ecu. Sometimes it needs to be online programmed using IDS or FJDS.

Unfortunately it give me error ... And took it to key programming guy.. the issue I'm facing now is bad fuel consumption since I changed my module 😢
Need to do a relearn. It is calibrated to the donor vehicle likely.
