    That’s looking WAYYYYY BETTER. It didn’t try to grab your right hand the first time you inadvertently got it in frame.
    People try to act like Sony and Canon never miss focus and that’s a straight up lie.
    I’m looking forward to all the AF test videos that are sure to come to see it in more scenarios to see if it is truly fixed.

    • @fvsch
      @fvsch หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Eye AF was quicker to focus on the eyes, as far as I could tell. There were moments when it was slower, and that was when putting an object in front of the face and expecting the AF to focus on the object (instead of the now-hidden eyes). In that case it was slow moving from the now-hidden eyes to the object, and fast moving from the object back to the eyes. I think this reflects the setting's priorities well. The algorithm seems to introduce a delay of around one second after it loses the eyes in the frame before it tries to refocus on something else, to avoid losing eye focus just because some random shape passed in front of the face.
      It's kind of an example of "you get what you asked". Ideally there would be a "product presentation" mode that decides between eye AF and focusing on an object in the center, prioritizing what is closer to the camera and more centered in the frame. Dunno if this firmware has such a mode. But if that mode was the default for AF-C, it would create a lot of bad results for people who are not doing talking head TH-cam videos (e.g. if you’re shooting a portrait session or a wedding, you probably don't want product priority by default, you want people & eye priority).

    Imma be honest. I still expect better for a "Flagship" cam. I believe at this point it's the processor inside that cant keep up. We are in the age of transparency and Fuji is failing in the category. My issues go beyond the autofocus with Fuji - Inconsistent lens correction, bloated filming options, weak app features, lens options etc etc. For me Fuji is still a "fun" camera to have around but to take it on a professional shoot (which I do often) I just cant rely on it. As with everyone else's tests there are some unknowns. Is your 35 f/2 the latest lens firmware? Should we even expect a lens of that age to give the same autofocus as brand a new lens, the 35f/2 wasn't made with video in mind and has unoptimized motors, that's a hardware limitation that no firmware will ever fix. In general Fuji users expecting a $2000 dollar camera to compete with 4000 and 6000 dollar cameras is just hilarious. I love my Fuji and if i need critical focus, I manual focus. Walk onto a set and ask the focus puller why they aren't using auto focus, you will bring the place to a dead stop.

      100% facts. But as a solo filmmaker/crew, as so many of us are, autofocus is just something that is so useful in so many situations. But I definitely think this firmware is indeed an upgrade this time.

      I understand where you're coming from. Hard to swallow that such a big brand is still struggling that mightily with just developing a reliable AF system. Thank you for your comment!

      @ i really hope the finally get it right so the constent problems can stop, but selling APS-C Cameras that ALSO dont have reliable af for the same proce as many Full frame offerings wont be a good strat long term…

    Better but still bad compared to Sony. I see still pusling, hesitation .... i am ex Fuji user and i leave that system long time ago. Just buy a Sony a6700...i dont get Fuji system anymore there is nothing in it.I buy a7 iv before 3 years and the AF is much better despite the senosr is not stacked etc.

      I have an FX30 which I use regularly for corporate video work and the AF is definitely much better. Although, in my opinion, it's not perfect either. Thanks for your comment!

    FUJI - Focusing, Ugly, Jumping, Irritable. It's a shame that Fuji can't do anything. But it's not realistic to sell the equipment. Nobody wants it.

      Definitely not Sony level AF, although I think this is pretty smooth and accurate. Especially in Fuji world 😄 You're not a fan, I can tell! Thank you for your comment.

      @@Maikl_Puzov I have a Sony FX30 for my corporate work to be quick and efficient and as a work tool, it certainly is way more reliable. But the XH2-s is a phenomenal camera when you look around on TH-cam and see who uses it and what is being made with that camera. Even with the X-T3 take a look at this video th-cam.com/video/i4jyK7hgUg8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=sQviUz93ymf8jXZw That's the most insane quality I have ever seen, shot with the XT-3. He even thinks the AF on that camera is pretty good...
