This test is good. I see some youtubers doing ridiculous AF tests that not even canons or sonys can nail properly. People should do realistic AF testing and not fast pop in and out and run out of frames etc but perhaps these said youtubers are just being themselves; ridiculous. Thank you for this man.
Nice colors and nice location! Thank you for testing. Seems like there is an improvement on the AF. Excited for the x-t5 update! Otsukaresamadeshita 🙇🏻
@ThierryGibralta everyone is testing AF for video. Can you do the test for stills? I want to know how precise is nailing focus on the eyes of a moving model.
For the 33mm, you might be getting too close to the lens and out of its focus range, nothing to do with the camera. Have to mind the minimum focal distance of each individual lens.
Quite many tests of AF during filming. I really wish to see some comrehensive test for stills, especially with some fast moving animals or birds. However from the other hand as an owner of X-T5 I have much time I guess...
Could you please also test it for stills? Specifically, continuous autofocus with eye tracking. The issue with my X-H2S is that the green box isn’t reliable. Even when the box is set on the eye, the focus often isn’t correct.
@@snajperSLO I had a dream... A new XT camera. Build like xt2 or 3. Weather sealed as Pentax. Autofocus as good as Canon or Sony. Photography oriented. Not video.
Is it a lens or a body issue that causes the focus to move in steps? It is not smooth. Look at the out of focus leaves when you're moving back and forth at like 1:39
I think we can probably put it into the category that it's completely usable now before it was usable in patches but I'd be interested to see how it goes with Photography but I'm glad they've taken a step forward. I've been one of the people that's been pretty neutral on it. I kept saying we've gotta give them time to fix it. I would rather them take more time to fix it and get it right but for me it's a big step in the right direction. I have an XT5 and I don't do a lot of video, but I do do a lot of photography with my XT5 and I have found some things that have worked my area around the solutions but none of them are perfect nor is this firmware update but I do think it's a lot better than it was. And at least it didn't try to focus on that person in the background sitting on the chair or on the railing. I think it is. I'm not sure which has happened before. I would be interested to see how it goes with taking photos because that's also been an issue with the X series cameras
I still have to test it more but so far it seems pretty usable indeed. I use the XT5 for photos and I have acceptable results as well for photos. Video is a different problem. Yes, before it would pick up a random subject, leaf, button of a shirt, anything random. Definitely a step in the right direction.
@@ThierryGibralta the biggest positive sign was there was a person way off in the distance in the background and the camera didn't jump to that person when you went behind the leaves which I thought might happen and that can happen if you've got multiple people in a scene but it didn't which is good is there a setting where you can go out of focus completely and only focus on people that would be a really cool feature to add because in that scene I would rather a fade in type of scenario, but now I'm getting greedy....lol
Is there not one TH-camr out there serious about putting this update to the test? These moving in front of the camera vids have their place, but time to move on and put it through its paces, in the real world. As my X-T5 won't see that update possibly until next year, I am hoping that some TH-camr out there that has an X-H2 (not ‘S’, like my ‘5’ the h2 has a 40mp sensor), and put this update through hell, especially with one of Fuji’s long teles (I have the 150-600 and the 50-150) on some fast moving targets, cars, planes, horses. If I see another “walk in front of the camera’s” video…. 😤Also, what I am seeing so far are almost strictly Vloggers, let's get some photogs out there testing this update.
Exactly! I appreciate this video, but it didn't cover what I really want to see which is AF-C tracking on things like flying birds. I would love to see someone do a before and after update test. I also have an XT5 and would love to know if there is hope on the horizon or if I should consider giving up on Fuji and get a Sony instead.
I imagine those videos are coming soon. These are just the first wave of tests. You need to remember that this firmware update came out only yesterday. The more in-depth tests and breakdowns are gonna take a bit longer to perform and edit than quick tests like these. I do agree with you on on the lack of X-H2 test, but there's not too much to do about it when the X-H2S is just a way more popular model.
@@Psychlopic True. I am just apprehensive since everyone with a youtube channel is (as you would expect) focused on video and face tracking. Fuji is already known as not ideal for wildlife and action so I am worried that people won't test that kind of thing. I just need to be patient.
@ I’d suggest you tough it all until the first of the year. I am looking at Nikon as a possibility in the future, but they are not quite there yet. I got into Fuji in ‘15’ after shooting with Canon going back to 1979. It was that retro, small form factor that sucked me in. As I was no longer shooting news and other jobs that required several rigs and a ton of glass, I was ready to downsize, that is when Fuji came along. Now Nikon is getting into the ‘retro’ arena, which is good, but the ZF is missing a few features that are deal killlers for me. One SD card, no real lens offerings that maintain that retro esthetic (though I could via an adapter attach my Fuji glass, though likely with mixed results), no battery grip (which is missing from the X-T5 as well). If Nikon were to continue with a retro line, and Fuji continues to flounder and ignore those of us who helped Fuji on this path, yeah, Nikon is a definite contender for my 💵💵💵💵.
Wild suggestion: Go out and do the testing by yourself! Stop complaining about how TH-camrs are not mouthfeeding you or doing exactly the thing that you‘re thinking of. You also could have kindly asked, but instead you chose to complain. Go out and try to put this together by yourself and I‘m pretty sure next time your comments will be a lot more kind and appreciative. Jesus!
In my opinion, there were too many negative videos about Fuji and its autofocus this week. I have been photographing with Fuji, Sony, Canon, and Nikon for 12 years. If there’s one thing I’ve learned it's what’s even more important is choosing a camera and high-quality lenses that suit your specific use case. For instance, my Sony A7R IV has a much better autofocus system, but since I do a lot of macro stacking, manually focusing and shooting 80 to 200 images in rapid bursts with a flash is far more efficient with the Fuji X-H2 when using a fast CFexpress card.
There are a lot of negative video about Fuji for very good reasons. Wouldn't you get angry if the camera you bought started performing significantly worse after a firmware update?
Just look at the background. Blur changes in very discernible steps. It's just not right. I'm sad. Edit: Oh, and the background is constantly changing, even if completely static shots. How can anyone say this AF is OK?
What do you think about the results of the AF and FLOG2C?
Damn, I think we're good! First autofocus test with the XH2 seems even better than XT3, SO excited!
