they werent, anyone with a pulse could shut them down fairly easily because their stats were just so low before they got set up and were too luck reliant they just made for good yt content

You bring out your Bidoof infront of a Whimsicott, hope for a Speed or Evasion, set up substitutes and protects until you’re maxed out.

Reading Zacian's effect just makes me think he's only going to be played for Super Polymerization; nobody's bringing him out turn 1 🤣 Honestly speaking, should have either made his pop effect a quick effect, or give him a way to inherently summon himself, or both considering that's pretty much what you need to be a meta Fusion card
The fact that the Pokemon Yugioh cards at 5:00 not only have fitting titles and art, but that they actually have custom effects that are in line with modern Yugioh is a step above in terms of editing, absolutely phenomenal. The effort that went into giving Zacian a fitting, thematic effect whilst still including modern once per turn clauses is absolutely peak.
And they actually have interesting effects. Though like in Pokemon,I can't imagine Registeel seeing any competitive play, and Zacian has probably been power crept by a better card, especially since it's not Generic.

5:04 i very much appreciate both the summon audio from master duel, but also the deep understanding of problem solving card text of yugioh which not only allows the cards to be at least somewhat realistic but also allows that sylveon card to be straight up broken thanks the versatility of being a search and special summon and also not hard once per turn, which means that if you have multiple copies you can use both effects. Might be banlist worth after a couple of reprints Edit: sylveon should have a small correction on the effect which is "If this card is normal or special summoned: add 1 card that mentions evee from your deck to your hand" which makes it extremely scary: you can normal summon sylveon, add sylveon, special summon the second sylveon add the third copy and then discard it to special summon eevee. Depending on eevee effects this escalates quickly into yugioh debautchery

It's interesting how Pokemon get nerfs and buffs in this era. Zacian nerfs were brutal and Incineroar's buffs are questionable. I think when Dynamax returns Zacian will be meta again but will have new pokemon to work with.

I probably thought that if type A is Super effective on type B, type B should be resisted by type A. Apparently that isn't always the case.
I think terastallization has also dragged Zacian down a bit, because it doesn't get as much value out of it as other restricteds. Without terastallizaton Zacian would have a lot more better match-ups into other restricteds like Calyrex-Ice, Miraidon and Koraidon.

Wolfey, you got me into playing VGC. I think I might want to get into the actual competitive scene instead of just showdown. I still have a lot to learn and a kid to raise, but he loves pokemon too! Looking forward to many more years of competitive pokemon!

Another factor of Zacian's dominance was simply the lack of checks and counters. He wouldn't be extremely dominant if primal groudon was allowed.

I won a local in reg g with zacian. I'm glad i won the doggo some cps, even though in a small tournament. (And even though racing Bolt looked more like a restricted than zacian itself)
Hey man, I love your video but I'm also someone who doesn't really participate in competitive pokemon. That's why I would LOVE some videos explaining that field : how the format(s) work, the meta, how do you build an actual competitive team, etc !

In one video you named both Incineroar and Zacian as the most powerful pokemon ever made. Soooo. This is a great (I think) video idea! What about making top 10 (or maybe even 20?) strongest pokemon but IN THEIR PEAK? Like you would compare only best, prenerfed forms of them and wouldnt include longevity at all. Best one time period for each pokemon.
Would really love to see your input on the topic and hear which pokemon you really think was the strongest ever. Is it indeed Zacian? Or maybe mega kangaskhan? Maybe something different like Mega Rayquaza or Xerneas? Maybe even incineroar?! Hope you will do that one day
