19:37 The answer may surprise you! IMO, the 2nd most nerfed Pokémon of all time is Aerodactyl Aerodactyl, for some reason, had EVERY. SINGLE. NICHE. it had ripped away from it going into SwSh. Sky Drop & Megas? Removed from the game Hone Claws & some of its setup/offensive coverage? No longer learns Wide Guard & Roar? Not great in a Dynamax format Having the unique combination of Unnerve, Taunt & Tailwind? Sorry, Corviknight gets all those now & it’s a better max target (plus Calyrex was so prominent it made berries mostly unusable) Fast offensive support? Sorry, Dragapult is faster, fake out immune & it’s a better max target. Even outside of nerfs, it's been robbed in so many other ways. Rock Head ability, but no Head Smash or Brave Bird ever, so DoubleEdge is the only thing it could ever use for that ability. Whereas Hisuian Arcanine, Steelix, Sudowoodo, Aggron, Relicanth, Tyrantrum all had access to Head Smash + Rock Head. I can get "no brave bird because it's not a bird", but Head Smash isn't excusable. Likewise, GameFreak refuses to make alternate Flying type physical moves, so outside of Fly, the next best physical flying type move added after 5 generations of Brave Bird has been... Dual Wingbeat. Yay. Even the Mega's ability Tough Claws is colossal stupidity. Its most common coverage moves it loved to carry was Stone Edge + Earthquake, and neither are contact moves, so neither are affected by Tough Claws. So what can you tough claws boost now? DoubleEdge now with recoil? Iron Tail? Aqua Tail? Fly? Crunch? In reality the most common choices were Ice Fang and Pursuit... It could've become like a Rock/Dragon type with Levitate (or No Guard like Mega Pidgeot, a fully accurate Dragon Rush and Stone Edge and Iron Tail would be nice) since it famously has never really been able to utilize its Flying type STAB effectively anyways and that would've been way better. Lance always carried it in his team despite it not being an actual Dragon, and Charizard got Mega X, dropping the flying type. You're also missing the one biggest nerf, Team Preview. Prior to team preview, there was the huge metagame around fast leads that set up hazards and carried taunt or exploded to deny the enemy their hazards. Aerodactyl was fast, hard hitting, and set up stealth rocks and taunted against other dedicated leads. After team preview, it no longer worked since they'd easily see what's coming and send something that could beat Aerodactyl first.

Kommo-o Is a pokémon that had it not been for fairies existing, it would have been one of the coolest typings you've ever seen. It feels like it should have been released in Gen 5 as the opposite to Hydreigon or something.
I think they really messed up the Fairy type tbh. If its purpose was to rebalance the game by introducing more counterplay to Dragon they should have been a lot more careful not to make it the new OP type - otherwise you're not fixing a problem, you're just changing what's on top. Most type matchups make sense but Fairy hitting Fighting for super effective damage is still one I don't understand, both from an elemental standpoint (there doesn't seem to be any thematic relationship, e.g. like Fire/Grass) and also from a game mechanic standpoint (Fighting didn't seem like a type that needed to be nerfed with another weakness, especially when Electric still manages to have only one weakness).
@nonadqs I guess it depends what you associate fairies with. If it's a Disney-fied version, then yeah, I guess fairies are good, but personally I think of it more like the original concept of Fae, chaotic but not necessarily good or evil. Whimsicott is a great example, a cheeky little garden fairy with Prankster. Fighting isn't necessarily bad either, and Fairy is already super-effective against Dark.
@@hoodie3810 Well if your taking about magic. Physical power is kind obsolete when you have magic. Because it’s better to be in range than contact because it leaves you less vulnerable to other attacks. This could also be a reason as to why psychic is good against fighting due to psychic power also being considered ranged.
Small correction: Manectric IS a wolf. It's based on the Raijū, a japanese thunder wolf god. It's english name also comes from the Maned Wolf. Edit: Appearently Maned Wolves aren't wolves... But not dogs either. So eh.
Raijuu isn’t a a thunder wolf god, it’s closer to a youkai since it was an explanation on a natural phenomena (thunderstorms). Raijin is the thunder god in Japanese mythology. A youkai being in close relation to a god happens sometimes, like kitsune and Inari. Raijuu are also not exclusively wolfs. They can be weasels, mice, and beasts (unspecific term).
After hearing it, the Glaceon thing seems more the fault of your opponents making life hell for you that day instead of Glaceon itself. We still love Glaceon in this household, even if it can be kinda hard to use
You give something the option to use everything and they just use things that are op. This has been shown in game design over and over. Smeargle's design is not good at all.
@@phantom-ri2tg what is OP changes constantly. And can differ from team to team. If Smeargle was actually OP you'd see it as much as Incineroar. But you don't, because it fills a niche role and relies heavily on its breadth rather than its effectiveness.
@@TheDeathlyG I did not say Smeargle is op. I said Smeargle is using what is op. Notice how in this video he was not talking about all the unexpected moves Smeargle could have. That is because they were using the same moves as each other. Smeargle was not used for having a diverse kit. It was used for having moves op enough to make up for its stats.
I once almost immediately gauged I should be completely ignoring the Spore Smeargle in a competitive match and just left it alone for the _entire_ match. Their entire strategy immediately fell apart as the Smeargle’s sole job was to empower it’s allies with Coaching, Decorate, Spore and Protect, but it couldn’t perform it’s job to any capacity when those same allies were almost immediately dropping, and it was extremely comical in how it was desperately trying to hold the crumbling team together as Flutter Mane woke up and started blasting every couple of turns.
I like Unfezant as it helped me greatly in my White playthough, but I can still easily relate to all of your complaints about the thing. Even the show dumped Unfezant from Ash's team and swapped her out for Charizard. XD I laughed through that whole segment as your jokes were great, but "Mama Bird" was still a gem for me when I played through White the first time. : ) This was a fun video, and I like the more casual oriented focus as opposed to the hardcore battling stuff. It's nice to hear some relatively normal stuff from you. : )
I think it's sad that Wolfe doesn't like Liligant, this is one of my favorite Pokémon, it was thanks to her that I met Pokémon, and I affectionately nicknamed her "Cucumber Queen".
I have a funny story regarding Xerneas. One time on Showdown, playing the VGC 2022 ruleset, I ran into a guy using Latios and Xerneas. He had the Latios use Simple Beam on Xerneas, who then used Power Herb Geomancy to boost its stats by three times. However, one of the legendaries I selected was Solgaleo, who I had immediately use Sunsteel Strike to OHKO the Xerneas. As soon as that happened, the guy quit. Later, I ran into the same guy using the same strategy again, with similar results.
Ground types can be paralyzed, just not by electric moves. In fact it's crazy how many non-electric moves there are that can paralyze a pokemon. Twinneedle is the only non Poison move that can inflict poison and Scald was the only non Fire move that could cause burn.
@@natnew32I think technically Toxic doesn't respect type immunity in gen 1 because it doesn't effect poison type pokemon when it would normally only be resisted by them.
0:10 Everytime I watch Wolfey's one of videos, it always seems like he's preparing for the World Championships. I only say that bc I thought that already happen in Hawaii?
Unfezant has justification for being hated though. Unlike the other Flying/Normal regional birds, Unfezant has terminal Treekoitis. Where as gen 1-3 pokemon at least have the justification of the physical-special split not existing so their movepool doesnt necessarily match their stats, Unfezant is one of the only pokemon AFTER gen 3 with this problem. its a physical attacker, with a special attacker's movepool
Not to mention that most regional bird are actually useful or have atleast something going for, like staraptor, talonflame or swellow (back in older generation)
What I dislike about Incineroar is that it clearly looks like a pure offensive Pokémon like the Fire Fighting starters, and yet it’s using support moves like crazy. I think it never won a tournament with its signature move Darkest Lariat, instead with Knock Off or Snarl.
@@lunamaster123 I know, but that’s the problem. Starter Pokémon should feel unique, but it doesn’t feel like a starter as it constantly use moves that already existed on more balanced Pokémon, making Incineroar appearing more like a strategy sponge rather than a warrior. I don’t think people even run Fighting moves (not even Close Combat in Gen 9) or even Malicious Moonsault with Incinium Z because it just needs to be the glue rather than the star. Even if Drum Beating is forgotten, at least Rillaboom’s Grassy Surge feels more unique than another Intimidater (people also give Rillaboom the G-max factor back then just in case). Super Smash Bros Ultimate even proved my point as all the other fully evolved starter Pokemon has at least 2 moves that’s the most viable (Flamethrower and Flare Blitz for Charizard, Aura Sphere and Extreme Speed for Lucario, and all of Greninja’s moves, (even the final smash uses Mat Block, which is great too)). No one would run Darkest Lariat, Cross Chop, or Revenge on Incineroar.
@bubby-fi9mc Funny you bring that up considering that Incineroar is top tier in 2v2 specifically because of how strong of a support teammate it is. So Incin's VCG playstyle followed it to Smash.
@@Notanegg. yeah and perish trap is a strat with no luck, it’s purely skill and sleep powder is chance there is no world where sleep powder is less annoying than perish trap

I have a challenge for you Wolfey! The challenge is where you use a team of the Pokemon you hate, aka the Pokemon in this list. I expect great planning for this team. Also use the team in a tournament.
@@SongokuJidai Not even that, it's the whole Team Skull thing. Also, that one mission in Brine Cave(...? Was it brine cave? Anyway.) where Chatot is your follower and he just keeps dying. Why do I have to babysit a bird bro...
It's a little funny that he said Glaceon has decent bulk, "especially on the special side," but its Defense is actually higher than it's Special Defense 🙃
Sadly, with weaknesses to rock, steel and fighting (among others), having roughly equal defence and special defence can generally be treated as 'better at being physically bulky' (with how those types are all more commonly used on physical a lot of the time)
5:35 Hey! I'll have you know Unfezant was part of the winning team of the Lumiose Conference, managing to go up against and even knock out the opponent's talonflame albeit resulting in it being knocked out as well.
Wolfe intentionally mispronounces a bunch of names. It's mentioned in a couple of earlier videos It's sometimes because he doesn't like the name or the pronunciation and other times because it makes people comment about it lmao
They have GOT to buff the Ice-type. I'd make it either just weak to Fire or weak to just Fire and Steel while resisting Electric. It wouldn't make all these slow Ice-types _good,_ but it would at least make them viable.
Honestly, even reversion to a Fire neutrality would change things. Not enough, mind you, since Fighting, Steel, and Rock are still coverage moves, but the Water/Ice Pokémon, Swinub line, and all Ice Pokémon x4 weak to Fire (Snover line, Snom line) would benefit and at least slot in nicely as an extra option in the Fire/Water/Grass triangle.
As someone suggested, they should make Ice super effective against Ground. Ice plays a role in the erosion process, and it would really help buff up the ice type since there’s a lot of ground type pokemon
"People are gonna hate this one" Man I'm still mad about Lycanroc lol. I'm OBSESSED with werewolves and red is my favorite color lol. Nah nah, I joke. I get that everyone has preferences, and I can commiserate being disappointed by something/their designs.
The thing about Smeargle is that it’s design is somewhat future proof. Moves are central to the game, and so when a new move is introduced that is strong, Smeargle might be able to benefit by using it.
As I recall, there's a Pokemon Legends game taking place in Kalos, and yes, Mega Evolution is coming back, and Mega Evolution is by far the best battle mechanic since held items!
@@starstorm1267 Mega Evolution is by far the best battle mechanic. It lets you buff one Pokemon for the remainder of the battle, and it's like having a super saiyan in a team of humans. Z-moves are basically like getting one rocket to fire and then DONE. If it wipes out the target, good, but if it fails... You wasted your shot! Dynamax/Gigantamax? Lasts 3 turns, then gone. Doesn't last long enough to really matter. Terrastialization? Turns your Pokemon into a solo type, which can be a HUGE liability strategically. It doesn't add a type, it strips it of the existing type or types, and makes it a solo type, which is crippling for certain move sets! Mega Evolution has been the best battle mechanic since Held Items, and the PVE mechanic of your Pokemon toughing out a big hit to not be a disappointment because it loves you that much!
Good guy Charizard looking out for his homies, Blastoise and Venusaur. Always making sure they eventually make it into every generation due to his popularity

Looking bad in the most profitable media series centered around having hundreds of marketable creatures? Valid reason to be disliked.
Well a lot of Pokemons are only liked because they are beautifully designed or too cute so beautiful ugly plays a major role in Pokemon popularity.
Small correction: Manectric IS a wolf. It's based on the Raijū, a japanese thunder wolf god. It's english name also comes from the Maned Wolf.
Edit: Appearently Maned Wolves aren't wolves... But not dogs either. So eh.
Should’ve given it kneesocks then. Missed opportunity.
Raijū is like a wolf *or* dog and possibly inspired by the masked palm civet. Maned Wolf is on its own separate branch of canines.
maned wolves aren’t wolves though…
Counter correction, it looks like a dog.
I'm just imagining them giving xyrneois a mega form and making geomancy always a 1 turn move when mega evolved

Man, Smeargle is like peak Pokemon design. Weak stats, but endless creativity. The niche and wacky strats you can pull with it are frickin awesome.
XD
I laughed through that whole segment as your jokes were great, but "Mama Bird" was still a gem for me when I played through White the first time. : )
This was a fun video, and I like the more casual oriented focus as opposed to the hardcore battling stuff. It's nice to hear some relatively normal stuff from you. : )
I think it's sad that Wolfe doesn't like Liligant, this is one of my favorite Pokémon, it was thanks to her that I met Pokémon, and I affectionately nicknamed her "Cucumber Queen".
Wolfey is 5 videos away from confessing his love for Incineroar
U forgot triattack for burns

Unfezant has justification for being hated though. Unlike the other Flying/Normal regional birds, Unfezant has terminal Treekoitis. Where as gen 1-3 pokemon at least have the justification of the physical-special split not existing so their movepool doesnt necessarily match their stats, Unfezant is one of the only pokemon AFTER gen 3 with this problem. its a physical attacker, with a special attacker's movepool
Why?
I prefer the term Electivirus
Not to mention that most regional bird are actually useful or have atleast something going for, like staraptor, talonflame or swellow (back in older generation)
Dual wingbeat it can learn. U turn it can also learn.
And would it be well known as a user of those moves? No, because it receives them at the same time or later than better users of those moves.
What I dislike about Incineroar is that it clearly looks like a pure offensive Pokémon like the Fire Fighting starters, and yet it’s using support moves like crazy. I think it never won a tournament with its signature move Darkest Lariat, instead with Knock Off or Snarl.
To be fair, Knock Off has a higher BP than Lariat and has a better effect (defense boosts aren't that common).
