Cedric and Sofia’s friendship is the sweetest thing. She just wants to be friends with him and the man has 0 idea how to react when someone is nice to him
To be fair about Sofia not losing the amulet: the amulet is what gives her the power to talk to animals. If she lost the amulet, she would most likely lose that power and lose the ability to communicate with her very close animal friends that she’s had for years, which would absolutely be traumatizing.
Frankly Cedric could have 'won' at any time. Sofia just keeps wandering into his evil villain lair unguarded with full trust. He could literally lock the door and beat her shit in at any time to take the amulet, but he never did.
The fact that Mulan who is from Ancient China, Merida who is from Medieval Scotland and Tiana who is from 1920s New Orleans can all visit Sofia from out of nowhere actually confirms that Enchancia exists in an inter-dimensional realm that is constantly traveling through space and time. They can just time travel at will. No time machine, no flux capacitor, no 1.21 Gigawatts.
You're laughing. I was a girl in the village, doing alright, then I became a princess overnight, and you're laughing? Now I gotta figure out how to do it right, and you're laughing? So much to learn and see, and you're laughing?
Also at the end when she mentions the part with the corrupted amulet, her face paint changes to a greenish hue with a pink center to imitate the one on the show. Yup, we're good students here😅
I find it funny. How so many people were like "LOOK RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET! THEY MADE ALL OUR FAVORITE DISNEY PRINCESSES 3D!" when Sophie the first already did that.
they could’ve just made the princesses 3d while retaining their og 2d designs. they didn’t need to give the 2d princesses bigger eyes or cinderella’s ears visibles. and don’t get me started on what they’ve done to rapunzel 😭
@@doctorgrubious7725in Sofia the First they look like actual adults. In Ralph Breaks the Internet, they all look like babies. It really shows how much the princesses are marketed as "just like you!" now as the 3d princesses need to look like babies/children so that babies/children can pretend they are the princess easier
We should have an epilogue series about Sofia being older and her mental health after having to solve everyone’s problems like they did with Steven Universe future
i would give to see an AU where Sofia just decides to retire and take care of her mental health after all her adventures as a kid, and taking things at her own pace instead of responsibilities being shoved onto her. i sorta imagine her becoming like Aunt Tilly in a way (who btw i love with my entire being).
I genuinely hated Ruby and Jade. I actually felt bad for Amber and her friends when Sofia invited them over for a sleepover and basically ruined it. They were loud, obnoxious, made a mess, and even chased her brother. Then when Sofia got to do something they wanted, they got all jealous and didn’t want to support her. She was excited not bragging. Then got angry when she wanted to be on the team with her siblings. They’re kinda possessive of her like low-key. I don’t blame Amber and James for wanting to spend some time with their new sister
There was also the episode where Jade set that trap for that witch who decided to be good; like, I get that Lucinda caused a lot of trouble, but considering that Sofia was hit with that...yeah, that was going WAY too far.
Ah yes, children who act like actual children compared to children who aren't permitted to act like children and are instead forced to be miniature adults.
As my brother and I watched the show (probably more for this than my daughter) we got more and more stressed for Sofia as they gave her more responsibilities. We were like, “oh my gosh slow down isn’t she like 5???”
@@middleeasternforhire8985The only way she was perfect was she was legit a kind person, plus she's a kiddie hero that's made to be a sort of example for kids her age, of course she's gonna be perfect. You gonna call Doc Mcstuffins out that kids can't be doctors or something?
I like how their society is very “pick and choose” with how they practice their sexism, like, they were throwing a fit with Sofia joining the boys derby team, yet were totally cool when Amber replaced James as heir to the throne. Like, weren’t there ACTUAL civil wars fought in olden times because people thought the male relative of the female heir would be a better choice? I feel like House of the Dragon would have a much happier ending if Westeros was as open minded as Enchancia
@inactive490yeah, you kinda do my guy, you're strength shaming a fictional little girl under some microinfluencer's video, and not even in your own original comment
@CinnKitty they aren't shaming her though? They're trying to explain the logic for why they'd be pissy about a girl doing "boys" sports and not a girl ruling a kingdom
But isn't that just enchancia that has that rule? We don't know the other kingdoms rules of heirs. Also, we could argue that the sexism mostly comes from outside influence. We can see in the ice dancing episode where hugo is now shamed for doing a "girls sport" its mostly his dad and the other boys in class that tease. Since they all come from different walks of life, they all think differently. This might explain why one kingdom may be more accepting than others since we see each boy react differently.
cedric being so devoted to saving sofia at the end is really sweet, and i love that legit nobody questions him, just imedieantly doing as he says, but i think it's just hilarious that everyone tries to ask who the frick the protectors are and Cedric is just *"NO TIME I DON'T CARE WHO YOU ARE GET IN THE CIRCLE"*
Theory: Every princess has worn the amulet once in her life. It's what binds them together. The amulet can summon a princess with all her knowledge and personality from when she wore it. It can also summon Princesses of the future like Tiana.
this is canon it was said in one of the episodes. if you look at the wiki it says this "When someone who had previously worn the Amulet really needs help, the Amulet will teleport the current bearer to them to help them out" meaning that so long as the princess has worn the amulet, they can get summoned or recieve help from the amulets powers.
@@wassupdj191 yes. if they have worn the amulet or if they will wear the amulet they can be summoned from a point in their life while wearing or after they wore the amulet.
I do really like how Sofia the first brings attention alto the fact that they are a step family. Like there’s an episode for Miranda’s birthday and Sofia is jealous that she has to share he mom. Then there’s a dad and daughter day and it’s actually pointed out that Sofia isn’t his bio kid. And she feels out of place because Roland and Amber have done it several times before. Of course everything’s solved by the end bugs it’s great that it’s brought to our attention throughout the series
Yeah or in one of the redemption episodes for Cedric the most I've respected Roland is how he was protective of Sofia, like that was his daughter he allowed to befriend someone capable of usurping him
@@KnightofLillies Miranda was the only one who didn't get her birthday mentioned in an episode. The one you are thinking of had one of the sadest songs in the series though, but I don't understand why Lucinda waited until mother's day to tell her mom she wanted to be a good witch. Thats like the worst time and when she tried to unhex her mom's spell they were rude to her. Especially the mom.
the creator said he did this to purposefully avoid the stereotype of stepparents being evil, especially when it comes to media involving princesses and instead wanted to portray a stepfamily realistically which is so sweet
Damn, that first bit with the parent's reviews are so crazy. Its almost like... Children need to recognize these bad behaviors first, to then be able to understand why they are bad. Crazy
Okay, but can we just talk about this girl's dedication to her on POINT her make-up game? The amulet changing color to match the part of the story she's talking about *chef's kiss*.
the foreshadowing of the wishing well in like season one or two…they definitely had that planned too coz Roland looked sad as fuck when he was telling Sofia or whoever about how he wished on it and paid the consequences
I also loved how in the series finale they revealed what was the wish that king Roland || made because then in season 2 Amber asked what was the wish and he said that's a story for another day. I love how the finale bridged the gap on most questionable things and theories about the royal family on the show.
Not gonna lie, I was always wondering what the wish he made was ever since that episode, and then I find out in the finale and I’m like. “Oh f-“ But yeah, hit hard.
One of my favorite episodes is the one where Sofia had to come to terms that her mom was now also Amber and James mom and she had to accept that meant “sharing” her. But more importantly I felt bad about the implication that Amber and James most likely grieved their mom after she died but were able to connect with Miranda and see her as their mother. Edit: (So the mom died after childbirth I’m learning, which is still sad. But again, nice knowing they were able to accept Miranda as their mom. :))
@@MyMiniWorld-ph3gb Well, having that figure in their lives late rather than never likely gave them a delayed response to the tragedy, realising who they had lost that day.
I’m so happy you talked about Cedric with so much vigor. That man was my first scrunkly blorbo-my comfort middle-aged man if you will. Even during season one my younger self was always supporting him, wanting to see him do better.

Fun fact: King Roland is voiced by Travis Willingham, more commonly known for voicing Colonel Roy Mustang from both adaptations of Fullmetal Alchemist. Which I find hilarious because Mustang's whole shtick is being a younger rebel rebuilding the system from the inside out, but here he is the system! There's no way he didn't think at some point "I'm a propaganda piece".
I can't believe Sofia ended almost 5 years ago already. I saw the Curse of Princess Ivy in like late 2014 at a relative's house, and I actually enjoyed it. I went back to watch all the episodes and kept up with it until its end. I always jokingly called it "Game of Thrones for toddlers". It's interesting because a lot of the stories seem a touch complex for Disney Junior which aims at literal preschool ages, right? I would've loved to have a show like this growing up.
WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THAT LITTLE WITCH GIRL. growing up, my favorite episode was the one where sofia and her village friend tried throwing this girl who was a witch a bday party or something. all i can remember from it was her 2 friends being really rude edit: i rewatched the episode and apparently she just wanted to be invited to jades birthday
You were not kidding about how hard perfect slumber party goes- I had to look up Amber’s voice actress because of how hard she’s killing it (Darcy Rose Byrnes, also in my frantic google searching I found out she actually did additional voices in spiderverse)
*Yes me too! Amber’s voice actress Darcy Rose Byrnes kills it every time she is on screen singing and her voice acting skills. I hope she gets more roles in the future.* Also, Darcy has a ton of voice acting roles like in Spirit Riding Free series and she acted on the Disney Plus TV series Big Shot before it was cancelled.
Hi! I’m not a child psychologist but I do have a Master’s in psych and I did take a couple advanced-level child psych classes. I know the studies the person in the comments was referring to. Yes, in early childhood, children will often follow the behavior modeled on TV, good or bad. I haven’t heard that they take to negative messages more quickly, but even if that’s true that doesn’t mean that bad behavior doesn’t have a place on children’s television. It can be very useful for parents to start conversations with their kids to ask questions about the displayed behavior and practice empathy and critical thinking! “How do you think [antagonist] made [protagonist] feel?” “Would you rather be friends with [protagonist] or [antagonist]? Why?” can help correct the behaviors learned from watching bad examples and practice these skills. Yes, that woman actually was pretty correct in that it might not be ideal to put on Sofia the First for a really young child if you’re just going to walk away or tune out and not actively engage. In that case, put on Sesame Street or something. But these studies do NOT automatically mean that showing bad behavior on children’s television doesn’t have its place… It’s not the TV’s job to teach your kid critical thinking.
If the studies you are talking about are the studies that I think they are. They also showed that children are more likely to repeat the behaviors if they saw that they went unpunished or were rewarded. The study showed that the children were less likely to repeat the bad action if the person doing gets punished in some way ( in the study they had a researcher yell at some of the adult actors for the bad behavior). I wonder where they got childern taking bad lessons over good because from I can find there is nothing to fully back that up.
The problem with the ending NOT having her amulet would mean she couldn't talk to clover anymore In the end theres also a small scene where she talks to him and amber comes by and says "still talking to your animal friends?" And without her amulet she wouldnt be able to
But in one of the episodes, there is a potion that gives animals the ability to talk, so Sofia could just give that potion to her animals, and that way, everyone would be able to understand them.
I'll be honest. Cedric was the reason I saw this series hahaha I love his chemistry with Sofia (as friends and as a team) and I LOVE his story, backgound and development. And as you, I think Wormwood and him should had a longer conversation in the finale.
I've never watched this series but I just wanna say the fact they gave a Disney Junior series a villain redemption arc with genuine character development is both impressive and weirdly wholesome
Actually its not original anymore many shows dealt with sexism and gender norms in different ways mainly the girl wanting to do a "boys" activity or the boy secretly enjoying a "girls" activity trope
I absolutely adore this show, and I am so glad to see it finally getting some well-deserved love. Also, Cedric is definitely one of the best characters in the show. He wears purple, has a pet raven, is an emotional mess and is actually a wonderful father-figure to Sofia. His character arc is perhaps one of the most complex and compelling narratives in all of animated television history.
As a Cedric fan, I was genuinely upset that by the end of the series Cedric and Wormwood never made up. Like they had so many episodes about their bond and how important they were to each other. Don't get me wrong, I get splitting ways and thinking you can sacrifice a person for your goals because you feel like they're holding you back... But Wormwood never learnt a lesson about that in the end. He was just as important member of the cast and he was brushed aside. THE HECKLES MAN!
I was waiting for it all the series because Wormwood was always so toxic to Cedric, hated him and helped him only for its own ambitious... Bad friendship. I'm happy that Cedric don't have such awful friend now
*Secret Library characters in need of guidance* *Sofia gets summoned:* "Hey, I'm gonna give you some life advice despite the fact that I'm half your age/not even your species!"
You know, I remember re-watching the first movie and thinking "Did Sofia's mom get married and DIDN'T invite ANY of the kids??" Because the twins didn't meet Miranda until that moment and Sofia was PICKED UP FROM THE VILLAGE!!! Like, wtf people?!
In the Mary Sue section, you forgot to mention Sofia’s actions in “The Littlest Princess,” where she disobeyed her mother and let the Wee Sprites into the castle, which caused the amulet to curse her to be tiny.
i'd also like to add that she broke a few promises, was jealous a few times, and lied. while those aren't really the most morally questionable, those are common human flaws (which just shows she wasn't always perfect). in Amulet of Avalor and Princess Butterfly, she took off her amulet, which she promised not to take off, and that caused it to be stolen (by birds in both episodes). in Sofia the Second, she did not look after Joy even tho she promised to show her around the castle (not to mention, literally making another copy of herself). in Four's a Crowd, she was jealous when Amber, Ruby, and Jade were friends and hanging out together, making Sofia feel left out. in Mom's the Word, she was desperate to spend time with only her mom because she was jealous of the attention Miranda was giving to Amber and James. in A Royal Mess, she lied about playing ball in the castle when it was really James, so the rest of the family could attend the circus. she had good intentions in doing that, but a lie is still a lie, like Baileywick said (she was also scolded alongside Amber and James in the episode because they were all in the wrong --- James for playing ball and all three of them trying to cover it up instead of telling the truth)
I like how Athena just gets off of talking about how Sofia pronounces Cedric wrong for most of the show, then proceeds 10 seconds later, to pronounce the name Zoey wrong.
I sorta aged out of liking Sofia right around the end of season 2 and it is actually crazy hearing you talk about the second half of the show because it genuinely sounds like a completely different show ahahaha
SAME I think I stopped around season 2? Though I think I’ve seen some episodes of season 3 when I’m bored but the second half sounds like a different show
@@tailsprower25212the show had magic already since like the get go and all then increasingly got more and more magical apparently so much so to the point some feel it’s a totally different show
Sofia the First is apart of those Kid TV shows that you think it will be just sunshine and rainbows with some musical bops but just you wait, it’s such deeper and darker lore/storyline than you can think.
Cedric is my favorite character in this series. He makes me laugh so much. His voice actor nails it. And his story and reason for being "the bad guy" actually makes sense. I understand why he did what he did. Doesn't make it ok. But I understand.
Side note: THE VOICE CAST?!?!?!?! Tim Gunn as Baileywick? Zach Callison (aka STEVEN UNIVERSE) as James? Christian Borle (aka OG Falsettos Revival Marvin) as Slickwell? Jim Cummings (aka everyone's childhood) as a bunch of random characters? Sabrina Carpenter as Vivian? Like wtf they went HARD
One thing that I had forgotten about was Sofia’s explicit statement that she might die in the final battle, and accepts it. “I will stand for one and all *even if I am the one who takes the fall*” She accepts her mortality and that the mission to defeat Vor may be a suicide mission, but she must still fight. Most shows would just stop at “it is the right thing”, but they went there and touched on the actual potential outcome. That is deep. *edit typos
Yeah I can't handle that she's so little!! I'm so stressed I like to pretend she's like at least a teenager so I can feel a little better about it. I still love this show so much.
Man, you made me reexamine Sofia The First: Forever Royal. She's aware she has a high chance of not making it, yet she does the right thing to finally end Vor? Man, that fact is just... self sacrificing; a noble act.
I’m pretty sure Sofia is 12 at the end of the fourth season because she’s had at least 2 Wassalia’s at the palace and at least one summer vacation from royal prep
18:05 you're leaving out the (mildly) important part of Rapunzel's appearance: here, she has her golden hair, however it was cut off at the end of the movie. This means that she had to have been summoned during the time period of her own show, Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. It's actually a pretty interesting show, I'd love to see you cover it.
Considering the lyrics to her song, I'd say it's about the moment before Eugene cut her hair and Mother Gothel was trying to kill him, so that means she may have actually been summoned while she was literally kidnapped and fighting for her life.
@@glasscardproductions4736could you imagine being in a fight to the death, getting summoned to sing an 11-year old a song about risk, and then going right back to fighting for your life. As far as I'm concerned that's canon now.
Disney Princesses being dead theory might be contradicted when considering Belle and Cinderella attend Elena’s Royal ball. I think the princesses are just summoned, like Sofia, except some like Ariel are summoned with features that help in a certain situation. As for the Vore fight, it’s most likely a metaphorical battle. I tend to interpret these things similar to Kingdom Hearts logic
I loved Cedric too, he was so fun, and we stan a reformation arc! I do wish they'd have focused a little more on how redemption takes time and shouldn't just be instant, but still. I like the guy
To be fair he'd kind of stopped being an antagonist or even trying to steal the jewel by the time his actual reformation episode happened, I actually thought the writers had just quietly dropped it. They do follow up on not having him be immediately trusted, which is nice.
@@gota7738 yeah I mean he really only went through with it due to Wormwood literally using Cedric's trauma to manipulate him. I do love that on the whole the family did seem to become much nicer to him over time. And I noticed in episodes after, such as the ep with his sister, Sofia steps up much more often to defend him. It really is so cute how he goes from villain to acting as, essentially, the kids' uncle. I like it a lot. My boy tries SO hard!!!
There’s a big gap in Sofia’s history from her finale to Elena’s finale that is unknown, there’s an Enchancia spin-off in the works that I hope addresses stuff like that.
Remembering the episode where Sofia and Clover become roommates and try to deal with it. I find the main plot boring, but I find the episode bearable purely because of the side plot where Amber finds a new interest in astrology. That made me happy to see
When you talked about Cedric, you're right about all of this. He is an entertaining antagonist but the times he's nice is kinda nice, especially in "Cedric's Apprentice". In spite of his evil schemes, he didn't want Sofia to get hurt
Theory: I believe that Elena has the choice to give evil spells and powers or not, but they can only be related to the person's actions and intentions. Ex: Sofia bragged about singing to her friends who couldn't do it, so Elena had to stop her from singing. Amber stole the amulet to meet a princess, so the amulet gave her an evil princess (can we talk about how Elena was going to die). Cedrick stole the amulet in order to be powerful, so the amulet prevented him from using his magic.
this is canon. a quote from the show " when each deed is done, for better or worse, a power is granted, a blessing or curse." if you look at the wiki or watch the special, elena said she was testing the princesses by giving them powers to see if they were the right ones to free her. however the amulet without elena in it also has this power, it just doesnt have the prerequisite good deed
@@princessatellaluma no no i know that, i was just saying that she was forced to punish people specifically according to their intentions. Like Cedric and Ambre, who both stole the amulet but were punished differently.
The idea of Elena watching their lives like an interactive reality tv show is kind of hilarious to me, but I suppose there isn’t much else she could do.
god, your style of narration, humour, and overall vibes are fucking hysterical. i laughed out loud at many points throughout the video. and also your makeup is so cool, i always love it when video essayists do themed makeup for their videos. you've gained a new subscriber :)
since im seeing a lot of people not getting this right, as a long time sofia the first fan, i want to clarify something. the amulet does not summon the spirits of princesses or dead princesses. it summons all the past, present, and future princesses who have worn the amulet to help a fellow princess (who has worn the amulet at some point in their life) with her problem. for example, in the episode beauty is the beast, sofia, who is currently wearing the amulet, is summoned to help another princess who previously wore the amulet, princess charlotte. even though charlotte has already given up the amulet and no longer has it on her person, she is added to the catalogue of princesses who can get help from another amulet bearer. all the disney princesses who were summoned previously wore the amulet or will wear the amulet and they can get summoned while wearing the amulet (like sofia in beauty is the beast) or after they stopped wearing the amulet (such as cinderella and rapunzel). even though they lived in the past, they are summoned in the future, as in after they wore the amulet, TO the future, as in to sofia. i hope that makes sense lol.
I assume in the case of Olaf, the crazy crystals just saw Olaf there and were like "That one wore this amulet, right? Or lives there, at least? Good enough.". XD
I find the dead princess theory interesting, however, the amulet of Avalor is from Avalor. The amulet is a magic amulet that can be used as a pocket dimension prison that keeps those trapped inside eternally trapped at the same age they were when they were pulled into it. If you watch Alana of Avalor you'll get to see the lore behind the Amulet of Avalor. So the princesses aren't dead they are just trapped inside the amulet for some reason.
I know this is late, but my theory is that the "world" Vor was planning to conquer wasn't Neverland; it was "our" world, aka the one Wendy lives in. This is because she says, “ Above the ilse of pirates and fairies, the Second star to the right is another world.” This means that she would already be in Neverland and instead maybe leave to come to our world. I only think this because to get to Neverland you travel to the Second Star not exit out of it. But IDK that's just my theory.
I dunno. They're pretty consistent about how the way to Wendy's realm you're already in Neverland is the second star to the _left._ So at the very least, they're not in Neverland either
This tracks to me, tbh, what does 'the isle of pirates and fairies' describe perfectly if not Neverland? (Even if they say 'second star to the left' in other media, eh, it's a simple enough lore mistake that the StF writers may not have known that.)
47:10--I'm so glad that you pointed out that Sofia was pronouncing Cedric's name wrong, it was bothering in the show for so long. I remember that episode when she finally realized!
ngl reminds me of when I was 8 and there was this new kid in my class with a Lithuanian name. I saw it on the register but had never heard people say his name for months, they just called him "new kid", so I mispronounced it horribly trying to be his friend but he thought I was mocking his name. A few months later he muttered his real name and the moment I realised he thought I was making fun of him hit me like a ton of bricks
@@aaditya1046 I had a similar situation, and so instead of calling my classmate "Angel Lara", I called him "Angel Larva"... "larva" like a butterfly "larvae" (cries)
🤣 “When Cedric grows an extra brain cell it’s OVER for u bitches” got me so much! Cedric is such a great character & villain. Great commentary & insight about the show! It was nostalgic to watch this as always :)
24:00 The reason this scene was likely cut is that for some reason Elena first premiered BEFORE the Sofia Backdoor Pilot. So the opening scene was meant to explain the off release order. It was probably deleted because that wasn’t going to be an issue now that both series are at the fingertips of anyone who owns Disney+
I think that when she says “above the island of pirates and fairy’s” that island is Neverland and that the portal is to our world. So Vor’s plan was to rule our world next which honestly is a banger way to make a villains next plan seem important.
Although apparently other comments have pointed out that they get thee star wrong The right star. Is it from our world? But it's the left star from the point of view of neverland I think
Can we just talk about the fact that Roland literally murdered his wife (albeit accidently) and he like never mentions her? You would think that guilt would be an integral part of his character, but nah it's like mentioned twice... Like if she was the first queen she probably was a wealthy lady from another kingdom, are Amber and James even in contact with their maternal family? Does Roland’s first wife family not get a long with Roland so they stay away from him? Like I need some answers...
Creative thinking there. If the show would would be reinstated we would love to see more of that and really you're right we came to the realization that the reason why he never told Amber about his wish on the wishing well on the 2nd season is the fact that he killed her mother.
Idk maybe their maternal family could’ve been kinda like blaming maybe both Roland and his children for um uh I think the unnamed previous queen’s death maybe idk
AH Queen Lorelei of Enchancia I used to assume it’s a different one that starts with M or something idk seems to me like maybe nearly all the grown women family members of Enchancia’s royal family each got a name that starts with M
All of us were confused during the Royal School Fair episode because she was already training to be a protector. Why couldn’t she just tell the fairies?? The moral of Sofia is to not fall for peer pressure. That peer pressure is typically served to us by Amber, & Sofia ends up learning that peer pressure is bad. Side note: I never understood why whenever they would mention “the village” they would only show subjects of the Enchancia Royals. Also, a “village” is a small settlement, smaller than a town. This kingdom is not very big… consisting of a single village, with one baker. (S1E21) I wish they addressed who became the shoe maker after Miranda left to become Queen. This all was probably done to simplify things, except seeing “villagers” when Sofia travels to other Kingdoms.
@@g8807 I mean in forever royal it was revealed to her family and to Ruby, Jade, Vivian, and Desmond unless they are told to keep it a secret and for sure Sofia can manage
As someone who is a pre-school teacher, i am here to crush the gender norms. I have one class that is all girls and one boy. One day the boy apparently went home and asked his mom if he could wear a pretty dress cause all the other kids wear one. His mom asked us then to teach the kids what clothes are for girls and what clothes are for boys. I was so sad to hear that.
Yeah, I remember seeing a video of girls playing with "boy toys" and boys playing with "girl toys". Some of the boys didn't even want to touch the toys because they've been thought that they're not allowed to.
Man, I apologize you had to deal with those type of parents. What you're doing is absolutely great. I hope the boy is able to escape his parents' stunted views and discover himself.
But does this have to do with actual gender identity? Or peer pressure and confusion? These a preschoolers we're taking about, they can't grasp social norms or what gender even means. When I was in preschool I legitimately thought I was a robot jedi from Mars who was friends with Buzz Light-year.
personally, my main takeaway from Jasmine's episode was to not be afraid to try new things and soar to new heights because there will always be an adventure waiting to happen just like in her movie where she wanted to be free and took the chance to trust and go fly with Aladdin around the world.
i had a genuine thought the other day. ‘someone ought to make a sofia the first video essay because what the freak was going on in that show’ and now i find myself here. this is what i’ve been waiting for
I always loved Cedric's character and I am only slightly ashamed to admit he was one of my first fictional crushes lol. This show was honestly insane for throwing in all this lore in a show mostly consumed by elementary school kids
Things AthenaP got wrong/right in this video: 4:13 The song is actually called Bigger is Better 10:15 - 10:43 She got the episode right but she never said the name. It’s “The Baker King” 18:54 That episode is S1 E7 “Blue Ribbon Bunny” 19:34 -19:50 That episode is S1 E9 “Balieywick’s Day Off” 30:06 - 30:14 and 37:49 - 39:09 That episode is S4 E9 and it is my favorite. The song Magic Touch is an absolute bop. 44:50 - 44:56 That scene was so funny and yet so dramatic 48:44 The Secret Library arc was initiated by her Aunt Tilly, she was the reason Sofia became the next story keeper. It wasn’t random… all that much. Throughout the video: She keep saying that the princesses are dead but the whole thing is that every time a princess is in need of help, another princess is summoned to help. And, in the final battle in the finale, they are shown as… spirits since it was inside the amulet. And, they should have put Elena in that circle as well. Overall, the video was good and I enjoyed it. This isn’t to discredit her thoughts but these were somethings I noticed. Can’t wait for the Doodlebops retrospective. Will she add the Doodlebops Rock and Roll Show cartoon? Sincerely, The Oracle
Also the king didn't hate the trolls for no reason. Apparently they were watching the stars and got so excited they started banging their clubs, and the king mistook it as an attack so he banished them.
Through the looking back glass is my favorite too. Mostly, like you said, because of the song, and I’m a sucker for fashion, so I love young Cordelia’s dress.
Another thing! King Roland didn’t just assume because James was the oldest and heir to the throne because he was the only son, when James was little he had wanted to be king so badly that King Roland just told James that he was the oldest and would be king- And Amber just didn’t know that she was the oldest and was honestly okay with just being the spare until they got older-
Sofia the First is SO great and the songs go SO hard. Miss Nettle's song became my sole obsession for a while Also I haven't fully rewatched but from what I remember I loved how they approached the blended family aspect for Sofia, Amber, and James. My all time favorite show is Phineas and Ferb where the blended family has no conflict that resulted from it being blended, but I found it really cool that this StF said "sometimes big changes happen, and you're not going to get along with others perfectly just because you're *supposed* to."
I also want to say given what we know about the way Cedric was treated, Sofia’s protest was valid. “He didn’t zap me.” Because it should have made them ask why. And the difference is that Sofia always treated Cedric with respect and kindness. Amber bossed him around. James wasn’t mean but he didn’t necessarily respect Cedric. Roland regularly abused Cedric. And Cedric was blamed for one incident that happened decades ago and was made the family scapegoat. What he did wasn’t right but he only did it because he thought it was the only way to not be abused anymore.
@@noorbohamad5796 Miranda’s sin is she never, until that episode, called Roland or anyone else out on how they treat Cedric. She should have been defending him from the start.
What a show that really connected a lot of war was Jake and the Neverland Pirates. I would love to see a lore video on this. Throughout all the seasons, so many things changed so rapidly, I just couldn’t keep up. And yes, Peter Pan and Captain Hook are there too.
I watched Sofia the First a ton as a kid, never finished it, but now that I’m older, I love the new perspective of what was going on that totally went over my head when I was younger. If you ever get to it, you should do a lore video on Elena of Avalor because I think that and this show was also connected if I remember correctly. Also it’s great She addressed it later in the video oop-
I recently found out sara Ramirez plays Queen Miranda and they play Callie in Grey’s Anatomy, which I’m a big fan of and now I wanna watch sofia again even though I watch this video when it came out and know everything that happened. Thanks fellow Athena
sofia the first is CRAZY for a children’s show. I watched the pilot for funsies when I was 16 as I remembered watching it when I was a child and then suddenly I managed to bingewatch the whole series TWICE. hearing your thoughts and deep conversations was so fun, and I never realized how useless roland as a king actually is lmfao. I really love sofia as a character along with amber and cedric’s developmental arcs (which btw CEDRIC IS MY ALL TIME FAV AND NEEDED MORE CENTRIC EPISODES??? jess harnell played him well) the songs are so catchy and I still listen to them all the time. idc if I’m not the target demographic for this show, the world is super expansive and there’s a lot you can learn from even as an adult! can’t wait for your elena of avalor lore video, the themes get even deeper!
I always thought Ariel was AFTER Melody specifically because she sings a song about familial bonds. I also like that they gave that song/message to the only princess with a confirmed child. Just like Cinderella sang about her sadness in losing her stepsister's after the sequel where she grows closer to Anastasia.
Omg I completely forgot about Cedric I was above the age demographic of StF when it came out, but his self-worth issues, friendlessness, & wet cat sorcerer emo boy aesthetic made him an instant comfort character for me. I too, was somebody who wished MY network producers would see my sensitive, lonely heart & give me a redemption arc, where people would start to like me despite the fact that I would remain emo & slightly more pessimistic than them. I really wanted to be gently guided towards the light & loved, so seeing him get that was… validating, I guess. Thanks for reminding me of him.
OH MY GOD, I could cry real tears. This was my childhood (well....I was like a tween that's a bit of an exaggeration), and I still watch it so often. I feel like the show didn't delve into the fact that Sofia is probably Latina, she's just white-passing, and I know it's a show for babies but she is MY baby and I love her so much. I have so many thoughts about this show but thank you so much for all of the effort you put in, as someone who's watched the whole series beginning to end multiple times and strung together complex analysis of the material, this run-through of the show is spot on!! This is incredible!
@@WinxAliNelCielo I'd assume her family may have moved from some Spanish-inspired nation to Enchancia, which seems to be inspired by Stuart-era to Regency-era England.
Really, my only nitpick - and this is kinda superfluous - is how Sofia shows up in the finale of Elena of Avalor and is designed to look older, and many don’t like that design, myself included, but as a reminder of their earlier crossover, I freaking loved it.
It's not pretty but it does also feel like a funny homage to how that "Elena of Avalor Special" has a completely different look, Sofia's look to be precise, compared to the rest of the series. Admittedly StF's style was more flattering to Elena than Elena's was too Sofia.
@@august6760esss. What I’ve been doing recently is rewatching the Cedric-centric episodes cuz he’s literally my favorite character. (Thx for reminding me to listen to that again b/c it’s been a hot minute)
My sister entertained herself once with making up a bunch of lawsuits against Sofia the first from karens that said it "taught bad lessons". (She proceeded to act out the entire court case lol) I don't know why she hated Sofia so much (we never watched it, we disliked the animation style) but anyways it was funny to hear the common sense reviews at the beginning because it gave me flashbacks to that. XD
24:19 This prologue scene was actually a last-minute change for certain broadcasts because Disney Channel was dumb and released the Elena series a few months BEFORE the pilot movie, so they had to re-contextualize the film as a flashback so it wouldn't be confusing for preschoolers at the time. Of course, when you watch the pilot as a Sofia episode, the flashback would be even MORE confusing, so which version you get depends on the situation.
A decision that still baffles me to this day. I assume that they wanted to save the 44-minute special episode for November, since that's when all the previous ones aired (The Floating Palace, The Curse of Princess Ivy), but why was it so important for Elena of Avalor to premiere in the summer? Why not wait until after that ep and just air the Navidad episode a little early? Instead, they just confused everyone for the sake of ratings. Seriously, I saw so many people who didn't know about the Sofia the First connection being all "Why is Elena's backstory told in just two minutes? That should be a whole movie!" Yes, yes it should have, and eventually was. I will admit, though, it made the reveal of Esteban's backstory unintentionally hilarious, mostly because after months of speculation on why he was the only one who missed out on getting in the magic portrait, the reason turned out to be what was considered a crack theory.
I vividly remember watching the first ads for Elena of Avalon, being curious about how they were going to explain the story (especially as they had already released the main song that ended up being featured in the special) and then the first episode just… put the backstory in the theme song and moved on?? I figured there had to be a movie that they had just… not made for whatever reason. Needless to say I was very excited when the crossover came out
OH MY GOD YES I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE CHARACTER ARCS OF THE SHOW’S CHARACTERS!! Sofia changed Amber and Cedric from being stuck-up and an antagonist for the better, while making several mistakes and improving herself like in “Sofia the Worst”
the only thing that was bad was james' character regression.. i get that the show was for girls but he turned from a slightly annoying but emotionally intelligent and supportive older brother to an absolute shithead by the later episodes.. it was so painful to watch as a james stan >//
The music from the show is freaking awesome. The catchy songs, the amazing vocals, the musical sequences in the videos. I still occasionally go on a Sofia the First song binge on TH-cam, always cheers me up

To be fair about Sofia not losing the amulet: the amulet is what gives her the power to talk to animals. If she lost the amulet, she would most likely lose that power and lose the ability to communicate with her very close animal friends that she’s had for years, which would absolutely be traumatizing.

She was excited not bragging. Then got angry when she wanted to be on the team with her siblings. They’re kinda possessive of her like low-key.
@inactive490 dude, they're riding horses, there's no biological differences in there. Men aren't more naturally suited to ride horses.

Theory: Every princess has worn the amulet once in her life. It's what binds them together. The amulet can summon a princess with all her knowledge and personality from when she wore it. It can also summon Princesses of the future like Tiana.
So instead of the Amulet of Kings (Elder Scrolls) it's Amulet of Princesses (Sophia the First)
I dunno why but to me it’s giving AOT Attack Titan powers LMAO😭
this is canon it was said in one of the episodes. if you look at the wiki it says this "When someone who had previously worn the Amulet really needs help, the Amulet will teleport the current bearer to them to help them out" meaning that so long as the princess has worn the amulet, they can get summoned or recieve help from the amulets powers.
Even those in the future like Tiana?
Yeah or in one of the redemption episodes for Cedric the most I've respected Roland is how he was protective of Sofia, like that was his daughter he allowed to befriend someone capable of usurping him
It was actually mother's day
@@ArjacBarn I think there was also one about her birthday
@@KnightofLillies Miranda was the only one who didn't get her birthday mentioned in an episode. One of my favorite episodes is the one where Sofia had to come to terms that her mom was now also Amber and James mom and she had to accept that meant “sharing” her.
Does the study say how young. Because there absolutely is a big difference between a 3yr old and a 6yr old. So yeah that makes a lot of sense.
Interesting
The problem with the ending NOT having her amulet would mean she couldn't talk to clover anymore
In the end theres also a small scene where she talks to him and amber comes by and says "still talking to your animal friends?" And without her amulet she wouldnt be able to

But in one of the episodes, there is a potion that gives animals the ability to talk, so Sofia could just give that potion to her animals, and that way, everyone would be able to understand them.

I was glad. Not all friendships are healthy, unfortunately.
I was waiting for it all the series because Wormwood was always so toxic to Cedric, hated him and helped him only for its own ambitious... Bad friendship. I'm happy that Cedric don't have such awful friend now

There was a flashback in the mothers day episode where they are all dressed up and I assume it from the wedding.
I think they were just in a ceremony without having the chance to speak with her prior to the next event.
Guess they eloped?

Omg you have a good point!
Yasss that show is such a slay!
Considering the lyrics to her song, I'd say it's about the moment before Eugene cut her hair and Mother Gothel was trying to kill him, so that means she may have actually been summoned while she was literally kidnapped and fighting for her life.

Disney Princesses being dead theory might be contradicted when considering Belle and Cinderella attend Elena’s Royal ball.

Like Cedric and Ambre, who both stole the amulet but were punished differently.

since im seeing a lot of people not getting this right, as a long time sofia the first fan, i want to clarify something. the amulet does not summon the spirits of princesses or dead princesses. it summons all the past, present, and future princesses who have worn the amulet to help a fellow princess (who has worn the amulet at some point in their life) with her problem. for example, in the episode beauty is the beast, sofia, who is currently wearing the amulet, is summoned to help another princess who previously wore the amulet, princess charlotte. even though charlotte has already given up the amulet and no longer has it on her person, she is added to the catalogue of princesses who can get help from another amulet bearer. all the disney princesses who were summoned previously wore the amulet or will wear the amulet and they can get summoned while wearing the amulet (like sofia in beauty is the beast) or after they stopped wearing the amulet (such as cinderella and rapunzel). even though they lived in the past, they are summoned in the future, as in after they wore the amulet, TO the future, as in to sofia. i hope that makes sense lol.
I assume in the case of Olaf, the crazy crystals just saw Olaf there and were like "That one wore this amulet, right? Or lives there, at least? Good enough.". XD
the lore is fcking crazy
I find the dead princess theory interesting, however, the amulet of Avalor is from Avalor. The amulet is a magic amulet that can be used as a pocket dimension prison that keeps those trapped inside eternally trapped at the same age they were when they were pulled into it. If you watch Alana of Avalor you'll get to see the lore behind the Amulet of Avalor.
So the princesses aren't dead they are just trapped inside the amulet for some reason.
That's kind of... infinitely worse?
You know there was an episode where the amulet took Sofia to help a princess
@@NkemUtomiyeah they’re not trapped inside the amulet because the amulet called Sofia to help other princesses twice and she wasn’t trapped
which episode?

Thank god someone pointed this out because I thought I was crazy. Elena of Avalor did debut long before the Secret of Avalor
I think that when she says “above the island of pirates and fairy’s” that island is Neverland and that the portal is to our world. So Vor’s plan was to rule our world next which honestly is a banger way to make a villains next plan seem important.
Although apparently other comments have pointed out that they get thee star wrong

Creative thinking there. If the show would would be reinstated we would love to see more of that and really you're right we came to the realization that the reason why he never told Amber about his wish on the wishing well on the 2nd season is the fact that he killed her mother.

Maybe because it was a secret? It is nice to have other skills too.

Oh, how awful.
I do hope he can evade her appalling view of society.
Conservative parents: Kids should be taught social values & what is appropriate at home, by their parents!
Also conservative parents:

30:06 - 30:14 and 37:49 - 39:09 That episode is S4 E9 and it is my favorite. The song Magic Touch is an absolute bop.
44:50 - 44:56 That scene was so funny and yet so dramatic
48:44 The Secret Library arc was initiated by her Aunt Tilly, she was the reason Sofia became the next story keeper.

This show was my childhood I’ve been watching it since it came out
I also want to say given what we know about the way Cedric was treated, Sofia’s protest was valid.
And maybe Miranda’s been presumably about the same towards Cedric as James??

My sister entertained herself once with making up a bunch of lawsuits against Sofia the first from karens that said it "taught bad lessons". (She proceeded to act out the entire court case lol) I don't know why she hated Sofia so much (we never watched it, we disliked the animation style) but anyways it was funny to hear the common sense reviews at the beginning because it gave me flashbacks to that. XD
Lets give Athena credit, she re-painted the amulet of Avalor pink after it changed in the show.
Well that explains a lot 😂😂😂
So it WASN’T a fever dream. Elena DID have a show before the crossover. I WASN’T hallucinating!
Needless to say I was very excited when the crossover came out
Veggieisins.
