Dude. Turn the bike off. Hold down that red button on the speedo. Then while holding it down, turn the bike on. Now you are in mph instead of kmh.

FOR CALIFORNIA RIDERS: in LA/OC if you get the Kaniwaba power pedal kit and keep it under 29mph, wearing a dot approved helmet… it is now legally a class 3 e-bike and can have the benefits of both on/off road, bike paths, etc.
everyone’s location carries different weight. So know your DMV states laws for ebikes inside/out. As far as registration goes… I understand the fear of “the more we put our bikes on government paper, the more the government will push towards making it a standard.” Let’s just keep it civil and love one another on/off road.❤️ however I definitely am IN FAVOR of keeping things in the gray area here in California. To each his own though. All good👌

@CapnCody1622 I live in New Mexico and the police don't bug regular working people. Everyone gets to drive 85 to 90 mph interstate with no tickets and I've had 5 percent window tint on every vehicle I've owned for the last 20 years they don't care or bother you about it. Also loud modified cars allowed. I can register my vehicle with no inspection. The vehicle doesn't even have to be there you just need the Vin number.
I also have an electric scooter and an electric minibike and no one cares. All of this I'm sure wouldn't work in California because they like to over control people there.

At 47 I am taking the msf course the middle of June. I am excited and now am wondering why I waited so long to get my first motorcycle
It never ceases to amaze me, the specially designated areas that some states have, it's mind blowing actually, we have over 10,000 miles of mostly wooded trails, that just crisscross the state. I sort of feel for people who only have a few miles to ride on. That trail does look fun though. I have met some folks on Quiet Kats a time or two on the trails, I have yet to meet a Sur Ron.
We have many other trails throughout the state but I love this one that is free and not policed.

EP mode power comes on late through the throttle. Sports mode power comes on alot earlier making it more responsive and better for trails.

Hey man thanks for the video, how long does it take to charge from zero and how long does a full charge last?
About 3 hours or so. You can get about 50 miles or less on a charge depending on the slope and how fast you're going. It lasts long enough to enjoy it, at least for me.

How's that BLUETTI battery holding up? Does the Surron charger ever stop ? It says it has 700w of continuous but the charger might top that and stop from what I heard.

Since I got my SurRon it’s my go-to vehicle! If I’m just going to the gym or market (if the shopping will fit in my basket) I’m taking it. My dog fits in the basket so when she is tired of walking, no problem. I’m planning on a controller/72 volt upgrade.
What basket do you have for a Sur Ron?
@@joshjohnson7043 It’s just basket from a bike shop. There is a rack which mounts on the forks, the basket fits on the rack and when the carry handles are folded flat the basket is locked in place.
Is there any security on it ? or has no one messed with it ?

i get this feeling stricter rules are incoming with more and more juiced up e bikes out there. the days of riding on sidewalk/bike paths may be numbered with these types of bikes. talking about bikes that go past the 750w/20mph rule. having said that, anxiously awaiting for mine to ship!

So I’m 17 and I mountain bike. I got to ride one of these today at a local trail and I’m in love. He let me ride it on the single track and fully just rip it. Anyway I’m going on a cross country trip after high school and was wondering in your opinion should I get this or just bring my mountain bike? It’d be interesting to know from someone who’s ridden it for a while now.

They got the 60ah battery for the Sur Ron now. Anecdotally 28AH is good for doing 15 to 20 MPH all day on my ebike so I can't imagine 60ah!
They want $2300 for that though! That is half the cost of the bike! Stock has been fine for me so far.

@@mitkopicha7540 in a nurse and go to work and use up gas and live in ca. This bike is definitely a great idea for my commute. I'd save about 80-90 dollars a week

Okay honest question for you, I also live in Cleveland and I want to get one of these but will I have trouble with people if they see me on these paths? I would imagine if I operate under the don't be a dick rule I should be fine. I don't want to have to only be able to ride it at dirt bike places
It is funny how people think about safety gear. 45mph street and rough paths with the shirt, no gloves, jeans, simple kicks (some people no helmet and almost never a sturdy motorcycle helmet, but some light bicycle joke cap).
Our bike gear is optimized for 30 to 45mph accidents...which is right in the zone of this

Remember that broken collarbone was at 8mph and you fell on a log. That air vest and a good MX 3/4 helmet with MX gloves would be logical.

Looks like a super fun little bike, but $4200 is still quite a bit
Compare it to the KTM Free Ride that costs $11,099 (7k more than the Sur Ron X!), that bike only does 50 mph, just 3 mph faster than the Sur Ron X, but weighs 204 lbs and only gets 20 mile range whole the Sur Ron only weighs 100 lbs and gets a 50 mile range! When you look at the comparisons, $4200 is CHEAP.

If its gonna be an electric dirtbike the light bee/x is hard to beat.
Also there is a ton of quality aftermarket parts, you can almost double the range, you can double the power output.
I was looking at something thats not a car for commuting a total of 45 miles each day, got a ron, sold the stock battery as new for 1.5k dollars and got a 60V65ah battery for 2.4k so now it has 190% the capacity, almost 4kwh now and it carries me a total of 70 miles while trying to keep it at 1500 watts max
Squid'n on the Sur-Ron. I do it everytime I ride it. I love it for short little trips to the dock or beach from my house. I've got to take it off road. I've not did that yet.....
The problem wearing a moto helmet and full gear on a Sur Ron is you stand out like a sore thumb and it doesn't appear as an innocent e-bike anymore. lol Cops may take notice and bother you about not riding on the street without registration.

Add the pedal kit to it so that if you are pulled over they will see that it has pedals
If they ever pull me over I would but they never bother me on my Sur Ron X.

I'd still be careful with riding that on roads with a double yellow line though, that is actually considered a "Dirt Bike" and not really a semi street legal "e-bike" as it doesn't actually have pedals nor rated for 750 watts, which I believe the stage 2 versions have provisions where the motor can't go over 20mph, and provide no more assistance to your pedaling after 20mph. Sun Ron does have a pedal kit for it, so might be something to invest in, especially in city limits or townships. Cop's aren't stupid, and with how popular the Sun Ron is with it's online presence, I'd be pretty careful riding on county roads with yellow lines, at least until you get the pedal kit for it, or keep it until 20mph (or haul ass on the grass near the road :D). Same goes for those mountain bike trails.. rangers aren't too keen on dirt bikes using the mountain bike trails. Though if throughout the trail there isn't any signs stating you cannot use a dirt bike or a motorized bike to traverse through the trails, if you're ever caught by a ranger or cop cause some butthurt mb'r doesn't like you're ripping and shredding through the trail faster than they are, if they write you a ticket, you can fight it in court if there aren't any signs present in the beginning, throughout the trails, and in the end of some that state no motorized vehicles past this point. Keeping under the speed limits and running roadside berm and bike paths along the sides of the road will keep the cops from bothering you too much, if at all.
Also as my friends suggested too me as I've thought about purchasing a Sur Ron X, changing the tires to some of those Shinko 241 trial tires which are better for on and off road, give you some extra rubber on tighter road turns without the bike washing out cause sidewalls don't have any grip. Did that once on my heavier MB 200 minibike with those fat off road knobby tires.. road doesn't feel good at all, even with protective gear on, and my minibike didn't like skidding across the road and flipping in the ditch either. Do believe the Trail tires still have good tread for off road. So you don't loose out on the shredding on dirt. Supposedly, there is a way to unlock the full speed on that stock sur ron.. I'd also look that up, a lot of people had done that with the green wire snip & tape up.. Not sure what exactly does that wire do as I don't own a Sur Ron myself, but once my friends had done that the are much quicker than my minibike in most cases. Pretty sure that would void the warranty, but I'm pretty sure that upgrading to the 72 volt system would also void the warranty, SO when that time comes, I'm sure you'll figure it out, or go watch a tutorial vid on how you do it right. I'd say depending on how you want to ride it, or if you plan on selling it, I wouldn't do much to it. But my friends said, you'd be crazy to sell it with how the gas prices are now.
If I ever get bothered by the police I will add a pedal kit, until then, they don't even pay attention to me. It looks like an e-bike to most people. I guess I could act like I'm pedaling when I pass a cop. 🤣

If you like Ohio Michigan would be paradise.. Tens of thousands of miles of bike trails like that through the woods and along the great lakes.
Different states allow different usage of Class 2 vs Class 3 ebikes.... Get the pedal kit, and keep it in Eco mode and you "should" be able to ride that thing EVERYWHERE! Even Rail Trails, State Parks & Forests, legal on the street too as long as you're not trying to ride 55mph highways. At least that's what the local sheriff in Tilton NH said.

Yeah motorcycles are over built fun for open otherwise boring locations.. but nimble is far better for being playful and having fun in tight places.. lol your 1st impression this thing looks like a mountain bike yeah that's why it's fun!

I like the surron x little too pricey for me I'll stick to my lectric ebike it's not as fast but it's fun to ride 👍
It seems expensive but when you compare it to other electric dirt bikes like the KTM Free Ride ($11k) then the Sur Ron seems pretty cheap. I love all of the e-bikes though. I charge both of my e-bikes for free using solar.
