Would You Still Get One? // SURRON Light Bee X *2023*

  • I made this video to go over 5 pro's and 5 cons of buying a surron LBX at this current time.
    With there being a lot of new competition for the surron light bee such as the Talaria Sting R, Surron Storm Bee, Surron Ultra Bee and the Solar Eclipse. it makes the decision really hard on wether they are still a relevant bike to buy or the best option.
    hopefully this video gives you some idea on which direction to go if you are looking to get into the E-bike/E-moto scene.

    I just bought a LBX a couple months ago and almost immediately afterwards the String R came out. So many more options are coming into the market now. The LBX is great but needs to change to survive in this competitive environment.

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ah that’s annoying, definitely would of made the choice harder, would you of got a talaria or still got a surron?
      Either way, the surron is not a bad choice and already plenty of upgrades available for you plus loads of information on how to maintain the bike!!
      You’re right as well, surron need to come up with something new for the LBX for it to stay relevant!!! Ride safe man⚡️💯

      @@mattfrancisofficial I'd probably go with the Sting R today. In the trails it wouldn't make much difference. But on the open road it would be nice to get up over 50. On a full charge my Surron maxes out at about 46. I also like the idea of the gearbox versus the belt.

    I love my sur ron x. It’s a Beast for me anyhow. Parts are everywhere for it. There are others that are faster bigger and better, but getting parts for them is just not on par with the sur ron x. Luna cycle has them for $4350 shipped. Buy what you want. But I’ll keep my sur Ron x for now!!! I’ll slowly upgrade it. ATM, I’m still getting used to it. Only 65 miles on it, but I’ve had zero issues. I check bolts, screws, and clean it after every ride. Just as the gent in the video said!!

    I bought my LBX in 2020, and have close to 20k miles on it. I just replaced the drive belt. Thats it. And I did upgrade with the BAC 4000 at around 8k miles. I have been riding a CR 250 for 45 years, and I have way more fun on the LBX. If you do ANY road riding get Shinko 241, or you will go broke buying tires.. The 241s are half descent in the woods except over roots or logs.

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      20K miles!! That’s insane man! Sounds well looked after if you’ve only just had to change the belt especially if using an upgraded controller!
      The bikes are endless fun and so versatile that they are loads more fun than a proper dirt bike.
      I went for some Kenda K270’s and they are holding up well with both on and off road so far. Will give the Shinko’s a try in the future for sure!💯🔋⚡️

    The surron will always be the best simply because it was first and the amount of time it was unchallenged. Near 5 years. It has amassed and will retain the largest community of support and aftermarket modifications. There has also been no bike that can conclusively best a modified surron, people have found ways to make the light bee keep up and surpass It's competitors, even its older brothers. The ultra bee now has the best chance, but it's simply in a different class, comparing a mountain bike frame to a mx frame with similar or even better performance when modified, minus all the weight. The surron is simply unique in it's appeal to all styles of riders and what it's able to do/get away with.

      Yeh precisely man, it will draw so much attention just on purely how the bike looks compared to the LBX. The LBX has the potential to look like a more innocent machine compared to the ultra bee.

      @@mattfrancisofficial ya I want one but so long as I can ride around town legally ill keep the talaria. When they bam them and I gotta ride purely off road I'll think about the ultra or maybe talaria will have a version of the ultra. Just would suck to have to buy a battery for it ya know. As long as you can legally ride around on your talaria though then definitely keep it, can’t complain at that at all. The battery/controller upgrades are hella pricey and i feel the more you ride the bike the more you want the power from these upgrades, its a difficult and expensive game for sure. Addictive too, i spend hours searching for upgrades and already spent more than planned on the bike but I definitely wont be stopping now, still got loads more to do 😁💯⚡️

    See this is how electric bikes should be ridden. You don’t need to go super fast to be seen as a skilled rider.
    Rider slow takes just as much discipline and control.

    Surron's are outdated and old news. Technology is always moving forward and right now Talaria is better. The good news with the Talaria XXX is that there's a more affordable option and that will force Surron to step their game up or get left in the dust

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I disagree Surrons still got their place! Talaria is definitely making moves forwards quickly which is cool. I personally think the surron light bee is still a better option than the Talaria X for many reasons but one being that there is a reason why its cheaper. Its been made up of cheaper parts. The long life quality of a Talaria X is questionable still!

Now they seem to go up in value as they get older as well so there isn't even any saving up for the purchase since it will cost more by the time you saved up. Also nowadays they stick you with the price that the said object costed for them to build the first concept. That is not what it is worth. That is the price that it took to develop a finished product from scratch. Not the price that it costs to mass produce after the conception. In all actuality a surron should be a third of the price of the cheapest dirt bike.

    Thanks for the video man. So I'm in the market for one of these bikes, but I've really been interested in the new Eride Pro SS. Again, as you pointed out though, they don't have any history or track record, being a new company. But they do look sweet though, especially with the bigger battery and taller height. It's more suited for taller dudes like me. But my question is what are the LBXs top motor power? I know the Eride Pro SS has an upgraded motor that can do at least 12 KW, but isn't the LBXs motor rated even higher? The Eride Pro S is only rated at 5 or 6 KW, if I'm not mistaken, even though the battery is still bigger than the LBX in the base model, but the base model of the LBXs motors are much more powerful, aren't they?

    • @mattfrancisofficial
      @mattfrancisofficial  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No problem, personally i think the E ride pro SS is the best option for a bike currently. For what you get out the box for the price its a great package and i dont think you’ll have any problems with it. I’ve only heard great reviews so far so would be a good option. I’m not too sure what the surron motor is rated for but i know it can handle high power but not for pro longed periods of time. For example you cant ride the bike at full throttle for longer than a few minutes as there is the risk of melting the motors insides. I’ve heard surron are meant to be bringing out a new version of the LBX so might be worth seeing what they change on the LBX before making a final decision. Hope this helps!!

      Another one too quick to making silly assumptions… Tow paths around me are owned by a private business who allows access to the public meaning it is still private land and states no restrictions on how it can be used. Even motocross bikes are allowed down there provided they ride with care and caution. Its only if you decide to be a nuisance that they will start looking into taking action👍🏻
