  • The U.S. Army's new Precision Strike Missile (PrSM) short-range ballistic missile has successfully been used against a moving target at sea for the first time as part of Valiant Shield 24.
On June 16, two PrSM missiles were launched during SINKEX from the Army's Autonomous Multi-Domain Launcher (AML) in Palau, Micronesia.
This marked the first time the PrSM and AML were deployed outside the United States, according to the Army. The systems were operated by the Army’s 3rd Multi-Domain Task Force (3MDTF) and the 1-181 Artillery Regiment of the Tennessee National Guard.
Valiant Shield 24, a multinational field training exercise held from June 7-18, took place in Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, Palau, and the surrounding sea in the Mariana Island Range Complex. According to the U.S. Navy, the exercise focused on integrating interoperability in a multi-domain environment, with joint forces collaborating to detect, locate, track, and engage units at sea.
The target for the SINKEX maneuvers was the decommissioned Austin-class amphibious transport dock ex-USS Cleveland (LPD-7), positioned in the North Pacific Ocean about 75 km (45 miles) from the nearest land.
In this video, Defense Updates analyzes what is the implication of PrSM hitting moving ship in Valiant Shield 24 ?

It means that you have the tactical flexibility to hold high-value, time-sensitive targets at risk.
For the USMC, thats makes it holding islands in the pacific much easier as the PLAN cant risk approaching.

Nice to see our military getting some more capabilities soon. 🇺🇸

It means that this 4m long ballistic missile can be placed in a tactical length vls module and give lighter ships a land strike capability. That's big specially against fake islands. Furthermore, if US decides they can add length to the PrSM for more range and place it in an Strike VLS module instead.

It can be launched from HIMARS as well.

Thats why the MK-70 was made
The principal advantage for the PrSM is the pacific theater
For China, it means that they can't approach islands held by US forces as the PrSm allows them to strike up to 600 miles away
The USMC NMESIS range is only 160 miles. that means the PLAN can close to 180 miles with ease
With PrSM, they are pushed out 600 miles
      Most important is Korea
The ATACMS range is only 192 miles so it can cover a small part of North Korea
The PrSm can strike any target in NK up to the Chinese border in minutes
They can potentially decapitate NK forces in a first strike or second strike

Should be able to fit it into Mark 41VLS and hopefully integrate into Aegis System. That would be a real "nut punch" for our competition. P-8, Hawkeye and E-7 all can work with Aegis.

@@niweshlekhak9646 Yes! Or s small missile ship with HIMARS/ GMARS erector/launcher.
They can also use those ISO container launcher that lockheed martin is already testing!

PrSM has essentially already replaced ATACMS in US Army service as they received the initial LRIP missiles as operational...
It's great to see the Army and Lockheed are able to get this anti-ship variant developed and already shooting at live targets!

A quick FYI to any that haven't heard yet the PrSM is pronounced "Prism".
It rolls off the tongue much more easily and actually sounds decent.
Looks to be a badass missile, the old ATACMS was deadly accurate but this thing is next level precise.

PrSM is a whole different ballgame than ATACMS and something that will keep Chinese military planners up at night with regards to potential conflict in the Pacific
PrSM missile will have upto a 1000km range and have the ability to hit moving objects ie ships. So basically it will be ASBM capable of being launched from the 6x6 Himars. Of course the Chinese DF-21 and DF-26 still outrange and packs massive punch but it has one big problem.
Those two are carried on the massive 10x10 and 12x12 (can see that TEL from space) truck with little to no off-road capability/deployability/mobility.
Putting two PrSM on 6x6 Himars chassis, being smaller means it can be quickly air-transported by a C-130, more off road capable and be deployed on a wider range of remote areas (not just on flat piece of road) making it unpredictable for the PLA Navy.
Just ask the Russians how that Himars hunting is going for them and you will understand why Chinese are nervous. For China to neutralize the threat they would have to take out every 6x6 truck they see, which is not sustainable

Why not include the Philippines in the deployment of this tye of missile to counter China.

It will turn the Philippines into an Island fortress as soon as the US government grants Himars launchers to the Philippines which is already expected.

How does one get a completely stripped- down to the last drop of oil - ship to become a "moving target?" Is another ship towing it? Who would want to be within a hundred miles at sea, of a new missile trying to home in on its first moving target? How was the Cleveland underway!?
All I can envision right now is Cleveland and Quagmire on the bridge, shennanigans and hijinx ensue.

    • @verdebusterAP
      @verdebusterAP 3 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

Simple , the ship was towed and set adrift on ocean currents . Likely only moving 2-3 knots at most. The ocean will push any ship even a super carrier
The Cleveland at full load was 17K tons with empty of weight of 7700 tons
Stripped of engines , screws ,and other equipment, it likely was only 3500 tons so extremely light
