US Army Unveils Potent Successor to ATACMS in Recent Testing

  • The U.S. Army's ATACMS, recognized as the pinnacle of modern precision strike artillery, has long been a stalwart force. Yet, in the ever-evolving landscape of military technology, what proves effective today may not suffice tomorrow. Recognizing this, the Army is forging ahead with the development of a cutting-edge long-range weapon-the Precision Strike Missile, or PrSM-an innovation poised to succeed the aging ATACMS.
Recent demonstrations of the ATACMS's ability on the Ukrainian battlefield, where it played a pivotal role in a successful strike against Russia's helicopter fleet, mark a significant achievement. Yet, this success prompts a forward-looking perspective. The baton is poised to be passed, bringing with it the anticipation of even greater capabilities and strategic advantages in the ever-shifting dynamics of modern warfare. This development makes us wonder; what advantages does the new Precision Strike missile offer?

Right now ATACMS have been shifted to several areas around the South China Sea near Chinese illegal militarized artificial islands. These would be used to bring those bases under fire and neutralize them. This takes much pressure off the limited naval supply on US Task Forces if a war was to break out. Yes, as PrSM comes on line those will be immediately sent to the western Pacific where with the ranges stated would make them a very powerful support and deterrent because PrSM would be able to hit China from points in the southern Japanese island chain, Taiwan, and all around the island countries in the South China Sea. Then I can see all the extra ATACMS being moved to Eastern NATO countries and UKRAINE!

I would assume that the Ukrainians will do fine with the attackms, as the Russians are not what one might call "riding the technology cutting edge". It's smarter for the US to keep the operational and technological details hidden from the enemy until the day when they are needed to fight a more sophisticated adversary. To me, that makes perfect sense.

People, wake up..... Russia is in the midst of a war time economy production rates.. Thus way they're able to significantly outproduce the combined arms and ammunition output of NATO countries. Russia is churning out 2 million shells and1500 tanks a year and over 100 long range missiles a month. We need to take this seriously and although it's unreasonable to expect USA, Germany, Spain or Belgium transferring to war economy now, we can still significantly ramp up production of 155mm shells, GMLRS, PRsM, Javelins, Patriot and NASAMS interceptors.... Combined we have a 30 times larger economic output than a 3rd world country like Russia. Let's move and start being serious about this.. OK?

    • @ssaini5028

US economy is a welfare balloon. US companies care about riches, Russian companies care about the state. Russia also has all the resources and man power to sustain this war. West cannot even supply Ukraine. Russia pay $25k for a stinger missile equivalent, the US pays 400K. Massive miltary budget and 35 trillion in debt, the west cannot beat Russia on the battlefield.
